Can I have a document or an implementation guide for PPDS Optimizer Setup Matrix?
I have already checked the SAP help and Certification Material about this topic. But there is no more information on this topic. It will be great if you provide a document where I can learn from the scratch.

Scheduling using Setup Matrix in PPDS

Hi Gurus,
We are using PPDS Steup Matrix for scheduling orders. We have scenario that from product A to B, there is a changeover. And after producing A or B for certain hours, there is a cleanout of certain hours.
Ex- Orders A for 5 hrs, B for 5 Hrs. Setup Matrix: A-B=1 hr and Max order ( A or B)=7 hrs after which cleanout should happen.
While scheduling , A(5hrs) (Setup) B( 5 hrs), this is acheived.
But result should be A(5hrs)(Setup)B(2hrs)(Cleanout)(B 3hrs)
Please give your valuable inputs. How to map extra Cleanout ??/ Should we ceate another setup matrix for cleanout?? Can system take multiple setup matrix???

Hi Priya,
I think Your case can be achieved through campaigm planning.
Create a setup group 'PROD' in ECC.
Under setup group 'PROD' maintain setup keys as 'A' & 'B'
Assign these setup group and setup keys in master recipe.
Maintain the same setup group & keys in APO also and than CIF PPM.
Maintain the setup matrix and assign it to resources
Create a campaign profile for 'PROD' with no of chargers(Orders) as 7.
Now schedule orders by using optimization.
After that create campaigns by using campaign heuristics on the resources.Campaigns will be created for every 7 hours.
And then create cleanout order by using cleanout heuristics between campaigns.
By this you will achiece setup between products and change over after your max run length also achieved by cleanout order between campaigns.

Using the PPDS setup matrix

Hello All -
I have 3 products A,B and C which are run on a single line during a particular week(day). We have certain set-up times when we move from one product to another. Here are the set-up times:
The sequence in which these products run on the line is decided by the plant scheduler during production planning. The production planners run heuristics and peform manual changes to the planned orders. They know which product runs in which shift but they do not necessarily adjust the planned orders to the hourly level.
What we would like the system to do is somehow incorporate the set-up times when we move from one product to another. We would like to see the the resource being consumed during the set-up time.
Also, we are not in a position to use the optimizer. So any solutions involving the Optimizer are out of scope. Just want to achieve this using heuristics.
To achieve this, I have created the following master data:
1) Created 3 setup groups SG1(A), SG2(B), SG3(C).
2) Created a setup matrix SM1 and set up the transitions for all the above combinations.
3) Assign the setup group to operations in a ppm
4) Assign the setup matrix to the resource
I then created 3 planned orders in production planning for the SAME day. All 3 have the same availability time 23:59:59 and based on run-rates we have different start times.
I have the following questions:
1) Which DS heuristic should I use to adjust the start times and the end times of these orders by considering the set-up times in the setup matrix?
The resource should basically be consumed during these setup times. I have looked at "Reschedule" function in the DS planning board but I get an error when I run this. Please see end of this post for the error. The message says I may not have free capacity, but I do. I am using backward scheduling and infinite.
2) Is there anyway the set-up times/matrix can be considered during production planning itself and not during detailed scheduling?
3) Can the option of "Schedule Sequence" work for my scenario.

Diagnosis
The system could not schedule an order, operation or activity.
This could have the following causes:
The resource does not have any free working time or capacity.
If you have set planning direction backwards in the strategy profile:
There is not enough working time or capacity available for scheduling between now and the scheduling date.
If you have set planning direction forwards in the strategy profile:
There is not enough working time or capacity available for scheduling between the scheduling date and the end of the planning area.
If you plan characteristics-dependently:
You have assigned characteristics to operations of the order that do not agree with characteristics of the resources on which the operations are to be processed.
The system cannot find any suitable characteristics on the resources and so it cannot schedule.
Procedure
Depending on which of the above reasons is the cause, change the following settings:
Change the working times and capacities of the resources.
Set the planning mode "infinite planning" in the strategy profile.
Activate the planning direction forwards or backwards and reverse in the strategy profile.
Change the characteristics that you have assigned to the resource.

It was a mistake on my part. I was supposed to create a new "set up" activity before processing activity and make that relevant to set-up. I had the processing step checked for setp all this while. Now its working.

How to stop document posting when filling setup tables for logistic app.

Hello Boys
I've read several threads and weblogs about data extraction from logistic applications i.e the ones which uses the infosources like 2lis_13_vditm, 2lis_02, 2lis_03, etc, etc,and now almost every thing is clear to me but one thing: how do i actually "close the system" while the process of filling setup tables i.e MC03BF0SETUP, MC03BX0SETUP, MC13VD0ITMSETUP, are running?
So I have some questions
1) which is the procedure to prevent users from posting documents for an specific logistic applications (02,03, etc.) in a source system
3) For example when using TC OLI9BW for statistical setup from billing documents (app no. 13), there is a check box "Block all billing documents?". Is this option for such pourpose?
4) Every logistic applications has a different procedure??

Hi Azael:
Q1: usually the BW team will inform basis/secuity about the deletion and performing of setup tables. they will fix a time after the normal hours where in all users are locked out from the system. in a sense, R/3 will be down for that time.
2. the check box which says, "block documents" is meant to block posting. for eg: you are doing setup tables late in the evening, and you assume that no user is assessing the system, but if there is a user(just by chance) who is doing some posting and when he try to save it, the system will not allow him to do save as you cheked this option.(normally we donot use this)
3. some LO may have different procedures, for eg IM. but most of them have the same functionality.

Hi Sunil,
EhP1 for Solution Manager means you have at least SPS18. Therefore documentation based on EhP1 is still valid, although Maintenance Optimizer has been updated as of SPS22+

Same setup matrix for both fert and halb products

Hi,
at present we are using a setup matrix in apo for fert products, which is built on the setuptimes/groups of the halb products.
can i use the same setup matrix for the halb resources, if we want to use the sequence dependent setup planning for the halb products..our fert is the combination of halb and packing..

replace the existing rules with one that does not specify the port [L3 rule].
However, you can't use arrowpoint cookie anymore.
And you can't use 'advanced-balance ssl'.
Another solution would be to use an SSL offloader to decrypt the traffic and have the cookie inserted in the https traffic as well.

Setup Matrix volume Doubts

Hi experts,
I have a couple of questions concerning the setup matrix volume.
1-a)What setup matrix combination volume is considered as acceptable?
b)Which is the break point from where performance issues take place?
3-What happens if the optimizer is optimizing orders and within those orders , there are features which are not included in the matrix.If this eventuality occurs, how the optimizer reacts?

Sequencing of orders after PPDS optimization run

Dear PPDS experts,
Lets say,after optimization run,we have the following planned orders in the following sequence:
SIZE   GRADE
28        B
28        A
28        C
30        C
30        B
30        A
PROBLEM STATEMENT :
Gradewise sequencing of orders within the same size to be done with priority as A=>B=>C.
REQUIRED RESULT :
SIZE   GRADE
28        A
28        B
28        C
30        A
30        B
30        C

If you are using CDP(charcteristic dependent planning in APO) with class 400 then you can use following badi
/SAPAPO/CDPS_ORDDATA metod GET_ORDDATA.
You need fill the structure CI_ORDCUS e with charcteristic grade and size and use above badi to write logic to read these details from the order.
above process will make charcteristic available as sequencing parameter in scheduling strategy and schedule sequence heuristic. So there you can choose required order ascending /descending as required.
I am not sure whether method also works if you use VC in APO side also. You can give a try.
Second option to use genrati and on of set up matrix based on charcteristics. Here you can have set up group and setup matrix based on charcteristic values.

Need help in creating documents for Contacts in Oracle HRMS

We are trying to add documents to Contacts in Oracle HRMS. (11.5.10.2)
Navigation: Oracle HR Super User -> Fastpath -> Documents of Record
Search for a Contact -> Manage Documents of Record -> Create Document of Record.
In Document Information -> Type is mandatory field but the LOV is not returning any values.
The LOV works fine for both system defined and custom document types when trying to create documents for Employees or External Contractors.
But we would need to be able to add documents for Contacts also.
Please let us know if this expected functionality or if there is any setup that is needed.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

802.1x for user authentication setup questions

Hi,
I am fairly new to the 802.1x realm, I have read several documents on how the setup is accomplished and I was hoping someone could validate the setup I have in mind to make sure I am on the right page. Any comments or assistance would be greatly appreciated, I do not have the infrastructure to test everything before hand.
I have a remote site with a switch and router. I want to authenticate users using their AD credentials. At the datacenter I will have ACS 5.2, a Windows 2008 enterprise server for AD service and CS service. I do not have the option to install an additional client on the PC like anyconnect, I need to use Windows OS supplicant without installing physcial certificates on the machine.
- Within the CS service I will generate a certificate that will be imported by ACS.
- I will activate ACS to integrate with AD
- I do not want to insall certificates on the client machines so I will use PEAP w/ MSCHAPv2
- The authenticating clients will be XP w/ SP3, I am hoping that a group policy can be created to enabed the wired service to start automatically and I will also need to add my CS/CA server as a trusted authority unless I purhcase a verisign certificate to be used. Correct? or will this need to be done when the desktop image is installed on the pc?
Additional Questions:
- With the setup I described above using MSCHAPv2 when the user boots the computer in the morning, hits ctrl+alt+delete and provides their AD credentials will this act as a single sign on? first authenticating them through 802.1x so the port is authorized and then authenticating them to the AD server? or will there be some type of pop up window that will appear before the ctrl+alt+delete window? making the user provide credentials twice (annoying)
- Once the user is autheticated can I push an ACL down to the switch to enforce a set policy? or does this happen on the router?
- Most of the documents I have read are related to L2 802.1x is there a L3 option that includes the router that I should be looking at to provide more features?
- can anyone speak to their experience with the Windows OS supplicants? is the functionality flaky/clunky or if the backend is setup properly it works seamlessly?
Sorry for the long winded post but I am kind of shooting in the dark without having the equipment to test with. Any help is appreciated!

A: If you select "Use windows credentials" it won't prompt you for credentials. so All automatic.
However note that it will only login AFTER you entered the credentials on the logon page. So you won't have network connectivity for the initial logon, so no login scripts this way.
With your comments I am rethinking my approach, I am considering that if the company security policy will allow it I will do machine authentication only instead of user auth. Obviously this is not as secure since a rogue user could change the local admin password and have access to the network. But interms of simplicity and ease of use machine authentication provides a transparent authentication mechanism that should suffice. I would just have to sell the solution to security.
There a few things I need to understand before persuing this.
- will the machine be 802.1x authenticated and on the network before the ctrl+alt+delete? so when user logs in the machine has passed 802.1x already and has received ip from dhcp? this is my hope.
- is peap/mschap still the supported protocol so no physical cert is required per machine? no EAP-TLS
- is the machine profile on the AD server used for 802.1x verification/authentication? meaning ACS will pass off to AD to verify the machine is part of the domain? or do you have to create machine profiles in ACS?
- I have read a few articles out there about issues with machine auth with clients using XP, perhaps this was related to previous serivce packs before SP3? there was mention of registery changes required etc.
- is there a different supplicant offered by cisco that is more robust that would provide more stability or is the cisco supplicant cost money per user license or other etc.
Again your feedback is invaluable as I do not have the physical equipment to test with. Unfortunatly I have to propose a solution before actually testing something which I am not particularly fond of.
