Document icons showing for aliases, folders with .

After rebuilding launch services database to resolve other issues, I'm now seeing a display glitch as follows:
aliases folders, symlinks to folders, and any folder that has a name ending with a period are showing as a generic 180x180 plist document with an alias arrow in the corner:
As you can see the problem is intermittent. Most have this problem, but some don't. Issue is the same in the Finder or Path Finder.
The keen among you will notice the folder color. I replaced system icons in the CoreTypes bundle with those from Mavericks (because I hated the Yosemite blue color). This could have something to do with the issue but can't really see how, as the problem didn't exist after changing the the system folder icons across many reboots; only after rebuilding launch services database.
The get info from Path Finder shows everything the same:
Kind: alias
UTI: com.apple.alias-file
alias bit: on
custom icon: false
type: fdrp
creator: MACS
permissions: 644
owner: (me); group: staff
open with (oddly): ViewIt
The size is weird. On the incorrect one, it's 300kb, on the correct one it's 1.8MB. Though maybe those are the right sizes considering they are each folders that contain other folders.
For the folders that end in a period:
kind: folder
UTI: public.folder
alias bit: off, custom icon: false
permissions: 755, owner (me); group (staff)
open with (oddly): Path Finder
A similar sort of problem is posted here, but it doesn't seem to help. I could try trashing ViewIt, but not PathFinder:

Seems this was a problem with PlistEdit Pro. (as I should have guessed from the document icon.) Trashing that app and rebuilding icon cache and rebooting worked.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

Is it possible to search for multiple folders with the same name and then select them all and change the permissions on just those folders .i.e. Search for the budget folders in all client folders and lock them down to just the project managers. Without having to go to each folder and apply the permissions.

Sign out from Creative Cloud and Sign in .
Important : Try to launch Lightroom CC apps from Apps tab menu. :

How to change to Icon View for some folders but and List View for the rest

I've had a bear of a time with View options in my folders. I'd like some folders to be in Icon view and other to be in List view. For what ever reason if I change the view option of one folder it changes the view option of EVERY folder. What can I do to make this happen?

I was about to ask the same. I'd like to use icon view normally, but list view for folders containing lots of text documents. It looks like the solution is using View > Show View Options, change the folder to the view you want, and then tick the box at the top fo the dialogue for "Always open in __ view".

Two icons showing for same drive

Why would my mac desktop be showing two icons for the same drive? I have a total of four drives on this mac pro and drive four as of today has two icons. Also, I wasn't allowed to repair my main drive in disk utility. some problems did come up on that drive in the systems/library/core that supposedly don't match. Are these two problems related? Thank you.

I'm sorry but I haven't dug out the DVD in ages. Should I try disk warrior. It said my main drive could not be repaired because of the issue in library/core. Thank you so much for your quick response. I recently tried to download a file that was only for premier which I don't have and it would not open. And I tried to download a trial for adobe after effects. I uninstalled the adobe after effects because it wasn't loading propertly. That probably cause my problem.
Can I keep editing in final cut with drive without repairing it if it seems to work?

Open Document Icon Missing for PO Reqs but working for POs

Hi All,
If there are POs and PO requisitions that are awaiting for your approval. You would typically go to Purchasing super user -> Notification Summary -> Worklist choose po/poreqs -> click Open document link to view/make changes prior approving.
The Open Document Link is woking when you open POs but missing for PO Reqs. I went through many docs such as (Metalink doc 356969.1). But unsuccessful. I am think it’s some sort of setup/configuration/profile that needs to be changed.
My Problem is to get the missing Icon for PO Reqs too. Does anyone has info please help me. I dont even know where to look for. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why do document icons change

During login, document icons display as the familiar icon we've become accustomed to, but when login completes, the icons change to a rather drab, generic-looking thing. For example Word documents, which used to show as the familiar blue Word document icon, are now plain white with 'DOC' at the bottom. How can I get the original icons to display?

I might be telling you to chase rainbows.
I am running OS X 10.6, so there may be a disconnect.
However, when I open my document folder, the folders are blue, but individual documents are a white icon with something like doc at the bottom. I consider this "normal," but we may be talking about different things...

Sites Shared Documents not showing

I created a private site,
it has a few layers and on my end I can see all the documents, but when the people that I had shared the file go through the site suddenly the cannot see what's inside the folders, the only thing they see is "There is not items to display"
I even changed the permissions to all groups to full control to see if that would fix it but no dice, then I thought it would be because there is more that 5,000 files so I tries with a much smaller site and the same thing happened.
any thoughts ? please help thanks

Have you made sure the files are checked in? If versioning is enabled and there is no checked in version, only you will see the file and no one else. If there is a little green arrow in the bottom corner of the document's icon, it means it's
checked out. You can also look under the Document Library Settings for "Manage files with No Checked in Version" to see a list of files you need to check in.

Icon sizes for Windows 7

My application is running in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and I'm using LabWindows/CVI 10.0.1. I created an icon file in the included icon editor. I kept the default 32x32 and 16x16 sizes and added 48x48 and 256x256 versions, all with 32-bit color. I set the Target Settings to use this new icon.
When I look at the folder containing my application's executable in Windows Explorer and go through the various methods of viewing the folder, not all of the sizes show my icon. The 16x16 image is used for the List and Details views, and as I increase the icon size the 32x32 and 48x48 versions seem to kick in. Then when the icon size gets to medium, I see the default LabWindows/CVI icon (the one that looks like a window with the "cvi" symbol in it). As I make the icons even larger, eventually the 256x256 version of my custom icon takes over.
MSDN seems to say that those three sizes are all the sizes required for Windows 7. How can I override the default "cvi" application icon for all sizes? Is it necessary to use a different icon editor to create some different size of icon image?

However, all I did to resolve this was delete C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\IconCache.db and restart my system. The IconCache.db was rebuilt and the correct icon shows for larger sizes rather than the default. It seems that the first icon you view at the medium/large size gets stuck in the IconCache. For instance, I changed my icon before viewing it at a larger size (never saw the CVI icon) and the icon I used was the one stuck for the medium/large size.I don't think it will be an issue on a target system because you will not be changing the icon one you distribute the application.
It is not clear to me if this is an issue with a Windows bug (I did see similar reports on various forums, but nothing official), with our icon editor, or with the way CVI attaches icons to executables. I have filed bug report 354481 to investigate this issue.

What are the current icon size requirements for Andriod Apps? I'm aware of the following link link, Adobe AIR * Application icons, however when compared to the current Icon style guide provided by Google, the data seems a bit out of date. The Google links is: Iconography | Android Developers

Boot problem / Hard drive won't spin up and folder icon shows

Hi,
Last week my ipod started giving me this problem, which started by it just stopping in the middle of a song (possibly because of lack of battery power).
When the ipod tries to boot I see the apple icon and hear the disk try to spin up for about 2 seconds. Then it gives a click, spins down, and starts the process all over again for several times until finally showing the dreaded folder icon.
When this happened last week I tried to charge using the cradle, but it didn't help. When I plugged it into the wall socket, VOILA! it worked. I went on my merry way for a week of listening, assuming the problem was all caused by a weak battery. During this week the computer was not able to mount the ipod disk.
Until yesterday, when the battery ran out in the middle of playing. The same exact symptoms occur, but this time the wall socket doesn't help. I think there was a sudden drop in power because the battery was fairly charged and then I saw it at complete zero, and I have also seen the battery icon show for a split second when trying to reset. I have of course tried as many of the 5 R's as I could do, but with no luck.

If you can open up the case, you can try reviving the hard drive one last time. some people have had luck with sealing the drive in a plastic bag (to keep out moisture) and putting it in the freezer, and then firing it up.
Also you could try giving it a good sharp shock, which sometimes gets you one more spin-up.
