Document improperly printing in Portrait instead of Landscape via Remote Desktop

When attempting to print a document in Landscape orientation, it always comes out in Portrait.
Using Remote Desktop Services via Windows Server 2008 R2 with all Windows Updates.
Local client - Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit with all Windows Updates.
This does not happen using another printer (Dell) - so I'm leaning towards it being an HP issue.
Page orientation is set to Landscape in Word (for example)
When going to print -- it's showing that it's set to landscape.

So the issue with the 8000 printer is periodic print jobs do not come out as you are wanting them. Is that right? This is interesting, just from the point of view that generally speaking issues like this are like a light switch, they are either there or they are not - they usually don't come and go. That being said, we are going to see what we  can do to resolve this. First I am going to recommend that we perform a clean installation of the printer after uninstalling it from the machine. By the way, what is the operating system you are working with - Is it Windows 2000 Network?
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3762364
Install that and let me know the result!
Have a great day!

  • DYMO printing in portrait instead landscape

Our DYMO Twin Turbo Labelwriter is printing in portrait instead of landscape when I print from Address Book, so the text is across the short length of the label and very small.
I've installed the latest driver (7.7.1) and reset the printing system to no avail. Any ideas?

I have spoken to DYMOs software engineers and they reproduced the problem. This has been an issue in address book since about 10.2 or 10.3. I submitted a report to apple but have not received word if it will be fixed.
The best solution I have found is to use SOHO address label software from macupdate.com which is much better than DYMOs crummy software IMHO. I think you are the only other person that has noticed this bug. It seems to only occur in printing address labels directly from Address Book.

  • PDF Report prints Portrait Instead of Landscape

    Hi,
We've created several PDF reports - some that print portrait and some landscape. For the portrait reports, they print fine both from Adobe Acrobat and directly from Oracle to the printer.
When we try to print a Landscape report, it prints as Landscape from Acrobat, but portrait from Oracle. We followed note 421358.1 on Metalink on how to set up a new .cfg file , print style, and print driver for printing landscape reports, but now it's not printing at all when we assign the style to the report. We tried removing -pairs and -shrink from the cfg file (Oracle analyst suggetsion) and it's still not printing.
Has anyone else had this much trouble trying to set up Landscape printing? We're using the acroread tool.
    Thanks,
    Suzanne

If you've bounced your concurrent manager, double checked your command string and it still doesn't print right, what O/S do you have and what version of acroread do you have? There's a known bug in Adobe 7 on HP-UX where landscape reports will generate in landscape correctly(i.e. copies=0) but when sent directly to a printer, they come out portrait. It happened to us on our system.
I tried -shrink and -landscape but it didn't work. Our user decided to just generate them and print them elsewhere.

  • Printing reports in portrait instead of landscape

    Hi,
We've got some reports written in Crystal Reports XI - implemented on a specific 'Crystal Reports server' and users run these reports using InfoView.
99% of the time...the reports print fine, but occasionally a report that has been designed to print in landscape mode starts printing in portrait and the only way to get it to go back to printing in landscape is to reboot the server. (We've tried doing things like checking the printer drivers haven't changed; print to a file rather than a printer; print to a different printer; get the user to log off and back on; get another user to try and print the report etc. - but this doesn't work).
We've also checked the server for issues to do with memory and disk space...they seem fine (the machine has three hard drives with 1 GB, 20 GB and 80 GB of space free).
Help! Has anyone else experienced this problem? What is causing the issue? I don't really want to have to reboot the server each time this problem occurs...

  • Printing to a Printer Connected to TIme Machine when using Remote Desktop

    Hi,
I am having trouble printing to a printer connected to our wireless network via Time Capsule when I am on my remote desktop connection. Printing from all other programs work. I downloaded Bonjour on our Windows based server, and it did not detect any printers. When I am connected directly to the printer, I can print when using remote desktop. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Airport Extreme/Express do emulate Jetdirect/port 9100 printing, but that isn't what they use for printing from OS X. OS X and the Bonjour/airport software use USB port redirection, a unique and separate method.
If the HP driver supports any protocol over ethernet, it would be appletalk. Does that router server use appletalk?

  • Trouble Printing to Network Printer via Remote Desktop Connection

    Specs:
    Macbook Pro, early 2013,
    Mavericks (10.9.2),
Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection v.8.0.5 (latest),
Connecting to Windows Server 2008 standard
Printer, HP LaserJet P2035n, connected via the network
When on the Mac connected to the server, the printers from the Mac are redirected so you're supposed to be able to print from Remote Desktop to the HP printer.  However, when you select something to print, the job goes to the print and keeps printing over and over and over again until you cancel the print job, which it usually allows you to do, or turn off the printer, which you have to do when it won't let you cancel the job.
Any advice on how to get the printer connection running normally?

What you haven't told us is what method you use to connect/setup the printer on Windows. There are two ways - Bonjour for Windows (free software from Apple), and TCP/IP raw port 9100. If you have a problem using one, try the other.

  • Firefox displaying page in portrait instead of landscape

I have a problem with web pages created using Microsoft Reporting Services to display query results. I'm not the developer for these pages, but I am a software developer so technical replies are welcome.
Pages that display correctly in IE 7 (and earlier versions) are not displaying correctly in Firefox 4.0 It appears as though the landscape format intended for display is being shown in portrait layout.
The FF display also uses the wrong font for the titles down the left side. It's using the correct font in all other areas of the output. The IE display has the correct font.
I can't provide the URL because it's an internal, secured site, but I have example images of the same page as displayed in IE and FF.
    Any feedback is welcome.
    Thanks.

Here are the images I referred to in my initial post. IE display is on the left, FF on the right. Data in the images has been obliterated for security reasons.

  • HT5012 What causes an IPAD 2 to orient to portrait instead of landscape inside apps?

What causes an IPAD 2 to not change to landscape orientation in apps?  Is it broken or is there a setting not set correctly?

As said before, some apps must be run in a specific orientation, however, there is a setting to lock it in one or the other orientation. Getting to this setting can be achieved by several different ways depending on system model. The new IOS 7 has a menu that can be dragged upward from the bottom of the screen. The icon with the lock is your target.

    Hi,
Are they able to print from other applications while connected via Remote Desktop to the same server?
Are you using RD Easy Print driver for your redirected printers?  If yes it may be that this specific application is incompatible with the RD Easy Print printer driver for some reason.  One possible workaround may be to Disable Use RD Easy
Print printer driver first group policy setting and then install a matching printer driver on the server for each client printer.

  • Landscape Report - Need to resize for printing it portrait

I have a financial report that I run often and it was originally designed as a landscape report. I want to reformat this report so that it will work for printing it in portrait. I don't really want to take a bunch of time to redesign this, I just want to resize the whole thing so that it will work to print portrait instead of landscape. I was originally using my printer driver to do this because it had a resize functionality that seemed to work pretty well for this. Now, however, after that printer died, I can't do that anymore with the new printer's driver. Any ideas how this could be EASILY resized for portrait? I have a bunch of fields in this report and it's going to be complicated and time consuming to mess with it much, so I'm wondering if there's some shortcut to do this quickly and easily. I'm using Crystal Reports 9.

Export to PDF format, it should resize your rpeort for you.

  • How to set a default printer using vbs on windows 2008 R2 with remote desktop services

  • HP LaserJet M1132 MFP does not print from a remote desktop

    Hi,
I have a HP LaserJet M1132 MFP (product number CE847A) connected to a PC (MS Windows XP Home Edition + SP3) via USB. There is no problem with the printer. However, when the connection using Remote Desktop (it's set to use local facilities and resources, or in my case, printers, and serial ports) to the server (MS Windows Server 2008 R2), I can not even print a test page from a remote desktop.
Error message: "Print a test page failed. Do you want to display a tool to solve problems with printing to get help?"
But it does not lead to nowhere, as expected is access to the internet, and I have not it from a MS Windows Server 2008 R2.
The same error is for the HP LaserJet M1120n MFP.
I have installed on my PC other printer - old OKI ML321 (needle) connected to a PC using LPT cable and network printer Konica Minolta 1690MF (in another room). In both of these printers can easily print a test page from a remote desktop.
    Please help me.
    This question was solved.

    Thank you for your interest.
The situation is a bit different than the picture. Windows Server 2008 R2 is available through the WAN. LAN is plugged into the PC-1, PC-2 and Konica Minolta printer. HP LaserJet M1120n MFP is connected via USB to the PC-1. OKI ML 3320 printer is connected via LPT also to the PC-1. PC-1 has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 also has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 is also available for PC-1 HP and OKI.
It seems to me that I found the explanation for the printing problems - some of "my" printers are simply not compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2. I found on the net the following information:

  • L7580 net printer driver disappearing in Win 7-62 after connecting with Remote Desktop Connection

I have an Officejet Pro L7580 connected via ethernet. I've been using the driver released from Jan 2010, and whenever I connect to my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 computer via Remote Desktop Connection, the printer drivers for both the printer and the fax disappear. I have to constantly run the "add a device" window to add the printers back again.
Why do they disappear like that?

OK after updating the Server and clients I am still having this issue :(
and just today after no sound problems for 6 days the sound dropped out on a couple of RDP sessions, yet the sound on the client itself worked fine when tested (minimise the RDP session).
It took the RDP sessions to be restarted to restore the sound within the session.
I have found similar (old) thread regarding this problem:

  • Remote Desktop Farm Printing

    Hello,
I am setting up a new 2008 R2 RDS load balancing Farm.  I have seen other 2008 R2 Farms with identical print servers setup on each RDSH server.  Each user gets an identical list of printers no matter which server they log into.
They use rdp profiles to follow them to each server.
Is it best to setup print server on each server or is there a different way to do this?  It worked pretty well at other site.  I just want to do it the best way.  If there is any documentation thats good too.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The best practice for setting printer in office environment depends on company’s requirement and many other factors. You can install printer or each server and then assign to use by users or make printer redirection setting for client to use as specified printer
is allocate to the users session. If you want then also try to RD Easy print service for your case. For more information you can go through beneath link.
