Document links  a name problem

I am having an a href / a name problem after constructing my
newsletter for email dissemination. When I create the email and use
a href="article1" to a name="article1" it works on my computer to
take the viewer from the menu link to the document in the article
but when I send it out in a test email it attempts to find a
location on my computer.
Help please so I can send out my email newsletter.
Thanks
Voodoo

Hi David - yes, you and I both!! It has totally wrecked my data-base of Help links.
The more this issue is given air space maybe the better chance to rectify it. Surely it can't be too difficult to create a method whereby old URLs are transferred to the new system?

  • Acrobat X external document linking problem

    Hello,
I have been using Acrobat 6 standard for our user manuals for years and have recently started using Acrobat X.
It seems that the external document linking has changed though.  I used to put all of our 3rd party literature (PDFs) in a separate folder (to keep it clean and neat) under our main manual PDF.  I would link to all those documents inside our user manual PDF.  Then when I later burned the PDF and the 3rd party literature to a CD, as long as I maintained the folder heirarchy, everything worked just fine.
Under Acrobat X though this doesn't seem to be the case.  If I just burn it to a CD, then the all of the external links are broken.  I have been able to do this by adding Desinations names to the 3rd part literature but this is a lot more work and I don't want to modify all of the 3rd party docs.  In addition, some of them are read only and you cannot edit them.
Does anyone know how to link to external documents in Acrobat X and then move them to a new location while maintaining the link without editing the external documents (some are read only).
Thank you for any help you can give me.

The Javascript code populates a field on the form and the If Then statement sets this value based on  the amount in another field.  I have changed all of the values in the If Then statement but the button is still using the old values.
I have tried this on three different computers and it will not pick up the new values.

  • Can't log into BOE system using SAP Authentication when using Document Link

    Hi all.
We are setting up our dev SBOP 4.0 SP2 system and are working on getting everything configured to our requirements.
What I am currently struggling with is the Document Link functionality.
If you browse to a document (WEBI or Crystal) in the folder view in the BI Launchpad and right click and select Document View, the system presents a static link to the report. The problem is, when I execute that link in another browser window, the system prompts me with the default login screen that consists of the User Name and Password which utilizes the Enterprise authentication by default. Our login authentication is set to SAP everywhere else.
I've already set the parameters for BILaunchpad.properties to allow us to log into the BOE server using our user IDs and that works without a problem. I've also configured the OpenDocument.properties file as well. Neither of these two files seem to have any impact on the screen I'm seeing when I try to use the Document Link. (And yes, I've restarted the tomcat server each time I've made a change to the config files.)
I'm running out of ideas - have any of you encountered this issue before and do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    -Brian

    Hi,
i saw this also a couple of times that the changes to the "custom" folder wont take affect.
    Try the following:
    1. Stop the Tomcat
    2. Rename the properties file in the custom folder
    3. take a backup of the properties file from the config folder
    4. make the changes to the properties file in the config folder
    5. start tomcat
Maybe this will solve the issue but if you deploy a new Fix Pack or Service Pack these Settings will get override.
If this solved your problem i would recommend you open a Support Message with the SAP Support.

    -Seb.

  • Where to load Vehicle Document Links

    Hi experts,

  • Script to rename Link Info Names

I'm working on converting a clients old catalog from Quark to Indesign.  I'm using Indesign CS4 on Windows Vista. I've used Markzware Q2ID to convert the catalog to indesign with out too many problems.  But I have run into a big problems with the images.  They will not automatically relink.  After digging around I've found the problem.  For some reason all of the Image names also include the path structure.
    For Example
    Link Info
    Name: BDA-12:Users:graeme:Desktop:FSIP back up:_Collected:02405 FSIP AftMkt EAST:Pictures:M587524.EPS
    Path: BDA-12:Users:graeme:Desktop:FSIP back up:_Collected:02405 FSIP AftMkt EAST:Pictures:M587524.EPS
Luckly all the names have the same problem.  So I'm hoping to find or write a script that can simply go through the indesign document and Find/Replace all of the link names to remove "BDA-12:Users:graeme:Desktop:FSIP back up:_Collected:02405 FSIP AftMkt EAST:Pictures:".
I know this is a really simple problem but this is my first real attempt at scripting something in Adobe.  Does anyone have any good ideas or tips on how I would do this?
    Thanks
    Vic Bushfield

    Victor,
The conversion program totally corrupted links in your document: myLink.filePath is just empty string, myLink.name is what should have been myLink.filePath (This is info from ESTK).
Here is a new version of the script -- it relinks to files located in NewLinks folder on the Desktop. Change this line
    var myNewPath =  "~/Desktop/NewLinks/" + myName;
    to location of your links.
Warning -- I tested this on Mac, since don't have a copy of CS4 for Windows.

  • WORKAROUND: "A document with the name 'vnd.ms-excel' is already open"

I'm posting this in the hope that it might help someone else (or that someone else might suggest a better solution)...
I'm using the technique described in the Integrating Oracle Reports in Oracle Forms Services Applications white paper. Basically, this means using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT to generate a report, and then navigating to a URL of the form...
    http://<host>/reports/rwservlet/getjobid<n>?server=<name>...to show it.
I had the requirement that some reports (with DESFORMAT=DELIMITEDDATA) needed to open in Excel, so for these reports I added the MIMETYPE command to the URL, so that it was of the form:
http://<host>/reports/rwservlet/getjobid<n>?server=<name>&mimetype=application/vnd.ms-excelThis appeared to work, but only for one report at a time. I could generate one report this way, and when I navigated to its URL, the report would be displayed by Microsoft Excel within a new browser window as expected. However, if I left the browser window open, then generated a second report and navigated to its URL, a new, empty browser window was displayed, but a "Microsoft Excel" message box appeared with the following message:
A document with the name 'vnd.ms-excel' is already open. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders.
To open the second document, either close the document that's currently open, or rename one of the documents.
When I chose OK (the only button), the message box closed, but the new browser window remained empty.
If Excel was already running to begin with, the message box was obscured behind other windows, and the new browser window remained empty and appeared to never finish loading (because it was waiting for a response from the message box). The message box only appeared if I explicitly navigated to Excel (for example, using the taskbar). When I chose OK, a "File Download" dialog appeared, followed by a message box that reported the following:
Microsoft Excel for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
When I closed this message box, Excel shut down.
I could not find this documented anywhere, but it appears as if Excel interprets the text after the last "/" in the URL as the file name. In my case, this was the same text every time (specifically "vnd.ms-excel"), which caused problems because Excel does not allow you to open two files with the same name.
My workaround was simply to add the "JOBNAME=/<n>" command (where <n> is the job ID) to make the text after the last "/" unique (at least in my case). In other words, by using a URL of the form...
http://<host>/reports/rwservlet/getjobid<n>?server=<name>&mimetype=application/vnd.ms-excel&jobname=/<n>...I was able to avoid the problem. For example, for job ID 123, the URL would be...
http://<host>/reports/rwservlet/getjobid123?server=<name>&mimetype=application/vnd.ms-excel&jobname=/123...and Excel would interpret the file name as "123".
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting, this solution worked!

  • Word document links won't open in IE 9

I got a user who cannot open up a word document link in sharepoint online that should display a word  dialog box basically in IE 9. When clicking, nothing happens even if pop up blocker is off, but he can access the word documents from the link in Firefox.
I also found out that I am able to open it up under my windows profile on that machine so it must be a corrupted windows profile.
    I reset IE
    Cleared cache
Verified in registry in class roots that .html is set to htmlfile
Anything I can do besides redoing the user's windows profile?

Can you try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away? You can restart in Firefox Safe Mode by either:
    * Clicking the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and selecting ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled'', or;
    * Holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration.
Let us know how you get on.

I'll guess that you've used a page layout document & pasting created a text box. You can add more pages & create linked text boxes, but I think you'd be better of using a word processing document. In word processing documents there is a basic text layer & additional pages will be created as needed to fit the text. Take a look at the toolbar of your document. If it says "sections" for the +page icon it's a word processing document, if it says "pages" it's a page layout document.

  • Services for Object: attached documents/ links cannot be deleted

    Dear SAPfriends,
The deletion button at the attachment list of "Services for Object" does not work. Eventhough it seems that the documents/ links/ notes have been removed from the object (i.e. Purchase order, material etc), when you exit and re-enter at the attachment list the documents are still there.
I tried to delete them from OAER, still the same.
    Any ideas?

You may need to use a plug-in.
One of the experts on this forum, Gilad D, has a tool called Batch Edit URL Links here:
    http://try67.blogspot.com.au/2010/03/acrobat-batch-edit-links.html
There is also one called AutoBookmark that also handles links:

  • Show 'Text' Document contents  instead of using Document Links

I have a requirement from my customer that requires comments to be stored and display both on the planning layout and display instantly in query.
I am aware that documents which type other than text is stored in BIN form, so my first approach is just to assume to work with document with type 'TEXT'.
I am aware this can be partly achieved by using the document links, but are there ways to get round of using document "links"? We want to show <b>instantly</b> the content of the document when the layout is opened and when BW query with the right combinations of characteristic values are displayed.

Yes, for bex, it works only in workbook.
Check F.Group: SKWF_CONTENT. There are many FM for documents which you can use.

For the BW Web, you can searh in how to paper from Tobias Kaufmann. Or search for Doc: "WEB API REFERENCE". In that Doc, search for the topic: 'WEB DESIGN API FOR TABLES'. There you will get all info needed, about how to enhance BW Web application designer.
There is no possibility for me to attach that doc here. sorry, you have to search it by your self, or send me your email.
    Hope it helps.

      set MyDocument to make new document with properties {name:"Name1"}
set text of MyDocument to "SomeText"
set text of MyDocument to text of MyDocument & " with more text"
set name of MyDocument to "Name2"
      -- display dialog ("" & name of MyDocument)  -- A: throws error
              set MyDocument to document "Name2"
display dialog ("" & name of MyDocument) -- B: works fine
    end tell
Should I remove the comments at the begining of the line where my comment A is, I would get an error from AppleScript like:
"Can’t make name of document "Name1" of application "TextEdit" into type Unicode text"
However, getting a new reference the "same" document using its new name allows me to display its name in a dialog.
So, I understand that, somehow, when I get a reference to a document object, that reference becomes obsolete if I change its name, as if the name actually defines - to some extent - the uniqueness of the object (although TextEdit can have more than one document named "Name2" at the same time, as is shown by the result of running the above script a few times without window cleaning).
I must say this behavior is somewhat a surprise to me, as I thought that, having a "pointer" to the object (I will avoid the term reference here), changing the value of a property of the object wouldn't render my pointer invalid.  But no; it seems as if my pointer/variable is re-evaluated when used, and that this evaluation is done using the name property as if it was its unique key.  Or is it something else?
What I would like to know is:
How do I know what are the properties that "uniquely" defines an object (and which, if I change them, will screw up the validity of my variables)?  Is the name property the only one, or are there other ones?  Whenever I see a name property in a class, should I understand it is a "unique key", or are there classes where the name property can be changed without making any of the above problem?
How do I know which property is used by default to evaluate where a variable points to?
Is there any way to make a variable point to such an object without risking to lose it even when an "unique key" property is modified?  I've played a bit with the "a reference to" operator with no success (although I might not have used it right).
What part of the AppleScript reference explains this so my AppleScript-newbie/former-java-programmer brain can understand the logic behind this.  I kinda understand what's happening, though I'd like to clearly be explained why it works that way.
Thanking in advance you, seasonned AP coders, for sharing your knowledge...

    1.
The unique identifier of an applescript object can vary from object to object and application to application. Name and id are commonly used for unique identifiers, index is sometimes used, and some applications define their own odd unique referents. Plus, an object can have more than one unique identifier. In fact, you can objects with no public unique identifiers: e.g. 'word' objects, which can only be referenced by relative or absolute position in a string. See the discussions in applescript reference forms.
So no, name properties are not always unique, though usually either the name or id property will be unique.
    2.
As a rule, unique properties will be listed as read only (r/o) which means they can only be set at the time the object is made. Sometimes you have to hunt for them, though. For instance, document objects in Text Edit seem not to have any unique identifier until you notice that window objects have a unique id property and each window object has one and only one document object. So, you can uniquely specify a document using something like document of window id xxxxx.
Note also that applescript can be annoyingly inconsistent. Sometimes you'll write a reference that looks correct and even compiles and it still won't work.  It depends on how thoroughly the developer fleshed out the core applescript routines.
    3.
If you're going to change a unique property, step up to the object's container and find another unique reference that (temporarily) won't change. For example, if you want to change a file's name, find a reference to the file within its folder (e.g. third file of folder x). Of course, you can always kite it as you did above (change the name and then reference it as though it were a new object with the new name).
    4.
read the object specifiers section of the applescript language guide; should get you oriented.
