Document management in portal
Hi,
My requirement is to upload documents in portal.
I had 3 reporting roles in portal which will be assigned to users
I requirement is to have a tab u201CDocumentsu201D (Page/Work set) in each role where a Folder will be displayed to user and when user expands folder it should be displayed with all the available documents (word/pdf) and a search box should be included so that the user can perform wild card searches on the list of available documents
Please advise how can I achieve this

in order to perfom a search inside the folder, the option is available like when you open the folder and go to folder navigation -> there is a search option. From here you can perform search. But, for better search result, index needs to be created. also you can take help of km search iview after index creation.
documents are stored inside km. you can do version management in order to keep older documents with same name. check help.sap, lots of docs are available on km.

How to show document title instead of file name in Document Manager
In WebCenter Portal 11g PS5, there is the Document Manager task flow:

it displays a list of a Folder and its contents, much alike the output of the COLLECTION_DISPLAY service in the Content Server.
I was wondering if there is a way (customization) to display the dDocTitle of content items (or particular content items) instead of the file name.
While displaying the filename makes sense in a lot of cases we have a lot of Contributor Data Files that are saved as dDocName.xml which doesn't make much sense to the user viewing the folder they are stored in.This is now possible using a customization and additional command-line properties, see the following Support note:

We need to provide document management feature in SAP enterprise portal. The requirements are users should be able to create
folders, rename folders, delete folders, create, upload, delete documents such as word, pdf, excel etc. Also we would want
some kind of an access restriction to be imposed based on certain roles.
I think SAP Knowledge Management is mostly used for integrating heterogenous repositories and for providing search capabilities. In our case we do not require search capabilities and we only need to store different kinds of documents created by users in a folder hierarchy similar to that of windows explorer and provide required access rights. Can external applications like MS Sharepoint or any other application be used if there are no requirements for search or integrating with heterogenous repositories. What are the considerations for deciding what approach to be followed.

Ofcourse it all depends on your business requirement whether you need KM or Sharepoint. In your case for your business requirement you may even use Sharepoint, and once the requirement needs search functionality you can either migrate your files to KM or connect your Sharepoint with KM through WEBDAV connector.

SAP Easy Document Management 7.0

I am implementing SAP document Management and have tried using SAP Easy DMS version 6.0. I understand that there is Easy DMS version 7.0 but i dont know were to find it so that i can download it, the link that i found on help.sap.com could not open so i am kind of stuck now can someone help me please.
My second problem is that on initial login to SAPeasy DMS the Private and Public folders are not being created as folders, its like the system is creating the files right but i cannot open the files because they are not like the Folder icons that i should see. even when i go back to the backend using SAP GUI and and selecting the document via Browser the icons of the two folders are just like for other documents and i cannot open the files.Hi Aby
Please follow the following steps to download and install the Easy Document Management 7.0.
1.Go to SAP service market place (http://www.service.sap.com).
2.Click on "Software Download" available under the SAP Support Portal Group.
3.On the left hand menu, Click on "Download" and navigate to "Support Packages and Patches" -> "Entry by Application Group". 4.On the righ hand frame, Navigate to "SAP Application Components" -> "SAP ERP" -> "SAP ERP Enhancement Package" -> "EhP4 for SAP ERP 6.0"
5.Select Entry by compopnent -> SAP EASY DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
There you will find the link to download the installation files under "SAP EASY DOCUMENT MGMT 7.00"

How to Display DMS document in Enterprise Portal
Hi All,
I have a scenario as described below.
I have a workitem which goes to user in his/her UWL for execution. When this workitem gets executed it displays an Adobe Interactive form.
Iin this Adobe form i am giving links to DMS(Document Management System) documents. So when this link is clicked the related DMS document files should get displayed.
Thru BAPI i m able to get DMS document number its Object Links and details of the files (PDF,DOC,XLS etc..) attached to it.
But I am not able to display this attached files on my enterprise portal. I debugged in R/3 and found out standard Function Modules which are used to display this attached documents of DMS and wrap them in RFC and called this RFC when user clicks link on Adobe Form in EP.
The problem I m facing is this RFC is not able to display the attached document files of DMS document on Portal front end. it gives error as u201CException condition "NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI" raised., error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE"
The reason behind why it is running successfully in R/3 is, it gets front end as SAPGUI but while we execute it thru portal it does not get frontend type as SAPGUI cause portal always runs in Browser not on SAPGUI.
So, Is there any way to display this DMS document files on Enterprise Portal?? Or is it possible using Knowledge Management?? Or any other standard BAPI or FMs which can be used for the same purpose??

Document Management in SPRO TCODE
Hi friends,
i have one problem regarding to document management(in SPRO- cross application-control data ).
i have to create screen(object) for rbkp table for uploading the document.
in function group CV130 there are lots of standerd objects(screens). but not for RBKP table. i have to create object for same i have to add one more screen and its flowlogic in function group CV130
would it be possible. if yes, then give me the procedure, if no tell me other way to
upload the document.

I just wonder if anybody had a chance to use or evaluate prebuild portlets in the
WebLogic Portal 8.1. I would like to buy WebLogic to build our internal portal
but I need some functionality to be out-of-the-box like calendar, news, msg board,
hopefully dms, and so on...
Mostly, I'm interested in Document Management portlet and I wonder if anybody
heared anything good about that portlet that is slated for release at the end
of 2003.

I have a requirement to attach a couple of documents for each employees at my client. Those document should then be made available on SAP Portal. I know there exists some SAP solutions for document management (DMS, ArchiveLink) but I have no experience with that. Can you please advice what is the best/latest solution? How should I get started?

One solution I am aware of is SAP Employee File Management by OpenText (don't say it with your mouth full!), or SAP EFM for short.
It's an integrated document management solution that runs from the backend and from the Portal. I've seen a click demo of it but not the real thing. It looks like a good solution, hence why SAP picked up on it.

Hi All,
Does anyone know if there is already a BOR or CLASS that can be used in Workflow that works with the Document Management Service? This is in reference to the diagram displayed in the following link

Advanced Edit on folders/files not working when using the Document Manager Task Flow.
Is any settings/configuration required?
I tale it's possibe to make cahnges to security groups/Clasification/account in portal using the docunebt manager task flow.Please take a look at the Admin guide for WebCenter, Oracle HTTP server configuration section. Basically, you will modify the mod_wl_ohs.conf to enable OHS to handle the communication/auth between WebCenter and UCM.
