Document margins in layout mode

If I push the "Affichage" button(I use the french version) which in english must be "show" or something similar, and select "Afficher la mise en page" (show lay out), then I see squares which are the boundaries of texts, I see squares for the page header and footer, but not the document margin (document margin is 2,5 cm by default). This is annoying because the margin exists and everything which is outside the margin will not be printed.
According to the helpfunction I should see the document margin. Is there something else to check ? I would like to see the margins to make work easyer.

It seems that pages doesn't remember the paper size I selected when I made the document.
In fact I see on the screen the right size, but I cannot print it. I have to select the paper size each time I open the document. When I do this, the document margin appear, and I can print it.
So the document margin is solved for me but now I have another problem, why does pages not remember the paper size I selected before (for printing only as on the screen it appears, allthough without document margins).
Is this a bug in pages ?

  • Page layout mode - margins

    Hi,
i would like to set fixed margins in page layout mode.
e.g site layout with inside 1 cm and outside 2 cm.. simple.. - document margins doesn't work in layout mode.
Rulers are no solution - i don't want to set or change rulers for every site and i can't fix the ruler correct anyway (e.g. only on .83cm and .79cm not on .80.. zooming in doesn't change it)
    thanks for your help-
    greetings
    Chris
ah.. and.. of course.. help, manual, search function previously in use..

thanks for your help - maybe i described the problem not exact.. my problem is:
If you add a box in layout mode (doesn't matter whats inside - text, shapes or images) - you can drag the boxes out of the image, close the page border or with some margin to the border - you can align boxes to each other (horizontal, vertical...)
But i didn't find a method for aligning all boxes with a certain margin like the document margins in text mode.
Lets say i have a dozen boxes on a page and a couple of pages and i want to align all of these boxes with 2cm margin to left, top, right and bottom.. like the boxes in given templates.
Do i have to drag all these boxes manually? - and what happen if i want to change my margin (lets say the printer calls you - it needs some 5mm more margin) - what i am looking for is something to set a certain margin i can align all boxes on and change quickly (.. like in text mode)

  • How to create a document with sections that differ in margin and layout

I'm trying to add a pages document 'B' into my new pages document 'A'.
A and B have two entirely different layouts and different document margins. So whenever i copy B into A, B's margins become A's margins and thus B's layout turns into a mess.
I tried adding a section break, column break, layout break.. None resolves the issues.
All ideas on this are appreciated.
    Thank you.

A document has the same size, orientation and margins throughout.
You can however set the minimum margins and use Layout breaks to position text and images within that.
In practice it is best to keep the two separate and combine the finished sets as .pdfs.

  • Can i set margins in page layout mode?

I have margins set in page layout mode, but they don't seem to really work. I can move text around freely but I'd like to set definite margins so when I align my text boxes left I can align them all at 1 inch.

The "blue lines" are guides and yes you can. Objects will snap to the lines when you get close to them.
You can also use the Metrics tab in Inspector palette, and +Menu > >Arrange > Align Objects+ to position text and images.
Read up more on how to work with Pages in the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf downloadable from under the Help menu.

  • Problems with document margins..

    Hi,
I want to change margins for my document that I'm working on. I've clicked on Layout --> Margins & columns and the change was succesfull but I can't see the margins.. Why is that? I wanna be able to see them and if possible also be able to snap to them because in my document there are several A4 pages with just 1 image that shall have a 10 mm white boarder around it and I don't want to measure every single image.....

Wajt color is thabackground around the page? If it's gray rather than white you are in Preview mode and you need to switch back to normal layout mode. If you're already in normal mode, you've probably hidden guides, and you can show them again from the View menu.

  • InCopy Layout Mode not displaying correctly.

I have a layout that I (designer) have created in InDesign. I have created the assignments and packaged for InCopy, but when the editor gets the InCopy file the "Layout" view displays the layout incorrectly which throws off the text for the entire document making it illegible in Layout mode.
Has anyone else had this problem? or know of a fix?
I can provide the file if anyone thinks they can help me troubleshoot.

Jenny, this has happened to me in the past, and I was able to troubleshoot it to some corruption that came over from QXP (the layout was converted from an XPress layout). Apparently the INDD format is more forgiving than the INCA format when there are glitches.
Just throwing it out there ... I just needed to rejigger some paragraph styles in the INDD file to fix the problem, as I recall.

  • Can't see InDesign layout in InCopy layout mode

We have just installed CS6 and one issue I am having is I can't see the page design when switching to layout mode. I can see the formatting of the story, but not the page the InCopy document is associated with. All of this is on a Mac network. Is there something about InDesign that has to be associated with InCopy in order to see layout mode correctly?

  • Switching from Word processing to Layout mode

    Hi,
I have old documents that always open as word processing. This makes it hard to group select items. Is there a way to open it as a layout document instead, or to switch on the fly.
    thanks,
    Tim

What I cannot do it WP mode is drag select multiple items. (Maybe the would group select confused you) Let's say I have 30 frames on a page with text. I can seem to drag select the ones I want. I have to shift-click each individual one. While in Layout mode I can drag select them.
EG - a year box with boys on every other line. I used to be able to hold shift, then drag select every other line and then change the frames to blue. But now I have to click each one.
Is there a way to do that in WP mode?
Or is there a way to open a '06 document and have it be in layout mode?
If not all of my docs are slated to redo.
    Tim

  • Is there a way to make InCopy open all documents in normal screen mode, always?

Is there a way to make InCopy open all documents in normal screen mode, always?
Now it opens in the screen mode the InDesign page is in when checked in. We don't want that.
    Thanks,
    Frederik

No, there's no way to get rid of it in InCopy.  InCopy opens layouts in the mode the InDesign user saved them, including Normal vs. Preview, Frame edges showing or not, Hidden characters showing or not, and so on.
You could try asking the designers to switch to Normal view before saving the INDD file.  Or you could assign a keyboard shortcut to the Normal view in InCopy and tell everyone to use that. We're on Macs so we use Control-N for Normal and Control-Shift-N for Preview.

  • Interactive Layout mode no longer available in Photomerge Panorama in PSE for Mac - any workarounds?

Hello,  after having purchased a download of Elements 12 for Mac, I found out that the Interactive Layout mode in Photomerge Panorama was no longer available (it was available in earlier versions, such as Elements 11). Is Adobe able to exchange my version 12 for version 11, or is there some other way I can gain access to Interactive Layout mode? I have found that the Auto layout mode often results in a message that it cannot align the images to create a panorama. Thank you.

In photoshop cs6 give this a try:
    1. Go to File>Scripts>Load Files into Stack, browse and load the pictures for the pano with the Attempt to Align and Create Smart Object unchecked
    2. Increase the canvas size of the document with the Crop Tool holding down the Alt key and dragging
one of the crop corners out until you think the canvas is big enough to arrange your documents for the pano.
    3. Align the layers manually in the document window with the Move Tool as good as you can.
(you can lower the layer opacxity so you can see the alignment better, but don't forget to put all the layers back to 100% opacity)
    4. Select all the layers in the layers panel
        (Select>All Layers)
    5. Go to Edit>Auto-Blend Layers and use Blend Method>Panorama and Seamless Tones and Colors
    6. After the blending it's possible you might see some whats looks like seams, so press Shift+Alt+Ctrl+E to make a merged copy on a new layer and hopefully that'll
        get rid of the seams.
I'll make another post with directions for putting the plugin into photoshop cs6, since you probably don't want to install pse 11 just to get a plugin when
photoshop cs6 is so much more capable than elements, for panoramas anyway.

Photoshop Elements 12 does not offer the "Interactive Layout Mode" in Photomerge Panorama.  This is a big "loss" for me; and I am now sorry that I purchased Elements 12.  Are there any workaround possibiloities?

  • Opening InCopy files in Layout Mode

How do you set up a default to open all InCopy files in Layout Mode? (CS5)

Without any document open, go into the Menu item "View" and select Layout Mode. From then on all files will open in that mode.

  • How do I create sections in page layout mode?

The "section break" option is always greyed out in page layout mode.
But I want to create a newsletter with a cover page and then the other three pages will have different headers and footers and I want repeating images on them. This would seem to be quite normal for newsletters. Even the template newsletters do this, but they do do it manually, repeating the images for each page, and manually creating a header and footer for each page.
I can do it word processing mode, but this is a page layout task - as indicated by Apple including the newsletter templates in the page layout templates.
Is there anyway to create sections in page layout mode??

If you compare Page Layout mode with Word Processing mode, you'll see that every page is a separate section.
In Page Layout, you've got headers & footers, although it's possible some of Apple's Page Layout templates have it turned off, and you can turn off "Use previous headers & footers" on the first page after your cover page, so it seems to me like it's possible to do what you're trying to accomplish.
A "section break" is a special character you place in the body text of a word processing document to force a new section (see also: page, column, layout, paragraph, and line breaks). In Page Layout, there is no body, and sections/pages are controlled by the Page Thumbnail View.
