Document not opening in Leopard

Has anyone experienced problems with opening documents?
I have all the current updates installed and most of the time things work quite well in Leopard, but not as reliably as they did in Panther on my old Power Book G4. Sometimes documents will not open regardless of how many times you 'cntrl/click' or if you directly click the icon nothing happens when you click the folder or document you want.
I have found that the only way around the problem is to restart the computer and I'm getting sick of watching that spinning beach ball whilst waiting for something to happen.
What a shame; I switched to Mac six years ago and I was completely happy with 10.3.9, but my old Power Book suffered terminal mechanical damage. Now I have this Mac Book which I'm rapidly losing faith in.
Looks like it's back to Windows and from talking to other Leopard users, it would appear that I'm definitely not alone.

Cocktail and Leopard Cache cleaner (amongst others) are shareware apps that just do a little differently what Onyx does for free. So if you're happy with it there's no real need to buy something. I've never used Ice-Clean.
There are a number of utilities you can invest in out there, but I must recommend something that every Mac user should have in there arsenal. A decent Disk Utility. I use both Diskwarrior and TechTool Pro, and I run them as part of a regular maintenance routine, but especially before updating the OS. I have both because they each do slightly different things, but if I had to choose just one, it'd be DW.

I also keep a regularly updated bootable clone of my system on an external HD, and it's from there that I run these. They each come with a bootable DVD which takes a lot longer to startup from, so not only is it much quicker from an external HD, but should anything ever go amiss, I can simply clone back, and it gives me a complete backup of all my files too. With external HD's being relatively cheap these days - it just makes sense because you never know.

Adobe acknowledges problem with the latest Snow Leopard update 10.6.8 and with this work around, I can open PDF's using the Google Chrome Browser.
Is this the ideal solution---NO. Safari is my main browser. I now have to use a separate browser for PDF's.
Am I happy to be able to open PDF's---YES
You can't believe the time I spent to solve this problem before calling Adobe for help. My Apple Care policy expired a month ago . As I use Photoshop Elements, I was not charged by Adobe for their help on the telephone.

IPhoto not open in Leopard

Hi ALL,
Probable he wrong forum, but I have iPhoto 2 an is NOT opening in Leopard.
Is there a link where i Can download a iPhoto version that runs in Leopard?
Or can I extract it from a original install CD from a OSX version that I own. Like Jaguar - Panther - Tiger ??

You need at least iPhoto 4 or later to run iPhoto in 10.5.
The only way to upgrade from v2 is to purchase an iLife package.

Why is my CD with documents not opening with my MacBook Pro?

Why is my CD with documents not opening on my MacBook Pro? I have inserted the CD and keep saying that it is not apple apps.

I think I'm running iTunes 11.1.2.
Also, my computer isn't even recognising it - its just saying my USB ports are power surging.

Pages 5.0 update - documents not opening

Pages has been updated to 5.0. Previous documents had information removed and then will not open saying that a higher version of Pages is required. New documents I have created since the update will also not open saying that I need a higher version

No, Pages hasn't been updated. Pages has been upgraded, that is there is an entirely new version of Pages named Pages 5.0
Pages 5.0 can open Pages 09 documents but not vice versa. I suspect that you are trying to open a Pages 5.0 document in Pages 09.
Pages 09 is in the Applications > iWork 09 folder.
Pages 5.0 is in the Application folder. The icons for Pages 09 in the Dock or the Launch Pad ins't updated though. You have to do that yourself.

A MSWord2013 document has to be opened in an iframe window. But its not opening in the same iframe window(in the same browser window). Rather its asking for Opening/Saving Option in a separate popup. This issue is in IE10 and IE11.

Attached document not opening in FB03.

Hi ,
I am using an error while checking uploaded attchment in the transaction FB03.
When any file(ex. pdf) is uploaded from presentation server, it is uploaded successfully and able to see the content .
But when the same file is downloaded on the application server path and then try to see the content, it gives the errror message .
The file is attached to the document with the FM 'SCHM_HTTP_CREATE_FILES' and then attched to the document with FM
'ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT'. The file is seen in attachent list . But when trying to open the file , getting the below erro.
HTTP error: 404 Not Found Document not found: Document '537B79574C7C0173E10080000A43209B' not
found on server 'contracts_dev'.

Anyone else having the same problem? I upgraded a couple of days ago from 10.4 to Leopard and now Photostudio will not open.

I have the same problem/error message appearing on my daughters MacBook. I did a clean install for her. There is nothing else loaded on her freshly installed MacBook but iWork08 and iLife08. They have not been used but I installed them last night. I changed a few settings on the computer for Parental Controls but only time of day restrictions. I have only tried this on her account. Now that I think of it....I will sign on as administrator and see if it happens when I try to start iChat. We haven't even set up iChat to work with her AIM account yet!

Will Lion make my Office documents not open?

I have MANY .doc and .docx documents from my PC days that I NEED. Does this upgrade to Lion make those not open in Pages like they used to? I enjoyed using Pages for .doc and .docx files along with Pages files. I was hearing that Lion makes Office files not open or work anymore. Is this so?

No, no. That's just silly confused people who have old versions of Office which require Rosetta to run (or an older PPC-based Mac), and Lion no longer includes - and can't run - Rosetta.
An upgrade to Lion will not affect the ability of your Pages application to open those files.

Why won't one of my Pages documents not open?

I just did an OS X update on my computer. When it restarted it opened all of my Pages that I had open except for one. A box comes up whenever I try to open it and says, it "can't be opened." I don't think it is because of my the version of pages I have because all of my other documents will open. So I don't know what to do, please help.

Back up all data immediately. Do nothing else until that's done.
Quit the app. From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ iCloud
Uncheck the box marked
Documents & Data
then check it again.
Relaunch the app. There will be a delay before your documents stored in iCloud reappear.

Word documents not opening completely

Hi
I have a few users who are unable to open a Word document completely. One user has a 10 page document that only opens the first 3 pages and another with a 61 page document that only opens the first 16 pages. I can open both files and view all the pages on
my computer running the same Office 2013 click to run version.
The work around is to save the documents under a different name but its strange why they open on my computer and not theirs. Is there a setting that needs to be changed to open the files on the users computers that are having this issue?

Could you tell me what is the document file format? DOC or DOCX? Is there any information when other pages not display in Word 2013? We can open Word 2013 in safe mode to remove conflict with other add-ins.

PDF documents not opening in Mozilla at all, PDF option is not there under the options tab applications

Hi,
Firefox has automatically been "asking me" if I want to save the pdf document instead of showing them in the browser. I have update 22. I have tried to look for the pdf options under the options>applications settings and it doesn't even show up! Is this because I updated? I updated on July 4th and didn't need a pdf until now and this problem showed up. Before, I did not have this problem. PDFs were opening on the browser and I had that pdf option under the application's list.
So I don't know what to do since I don't even have that option on here. What should I do?

Yes, I have Adobe Reader installed and that's my preffered option. I have recently and manually uninstalled Adobe reader,Reinstalled it again, restarted my computer, and I am still having the same problem. I cannot see the option to preview the pdfs in firefox using adobe. It either uses the the Firefox pdf reader Zeon? or the other option is to Always ask me to download it to my desktop.
I have attached what I see, maybe you can help me based on that. It seems the plugins work well (Figure 2) but only the pdf plugin for adobe to be previewed in firefox is missing (Figure1).
Also, I attempted to re-initialize the plugin database but it still gives me the same option as always.

No, if I set it to "true" then the pdf option under applications disappears. So I have kept it as false. (Figure 3 shows that it goes missing, not the same as in Figure 1)
