Document of Settings of Central Administration

Hello out there,
I have googled a while to find a way to document the configuration of the "Central Administration". But I couldn't find any result which fits to my requirement. Maybe somebody in this community can give me an hint how to realize it in
a easy way.
Please note I am not an educated SharePoint Admin. Just someone who want to orgaize smooth Operations of my SharePoint Service. :))))
My goal:
I want to have an Overview of all settings and options which are set within the "Central Administration". I want to use it as a kind of baseline (snapshot). So I can reference at anytime what configuration I had for "Central Administrtion"
at a certain time.

Hi,
The SharePoint Central Administration page is defined by system, there is an overview for all settings within Central Adminsitration:
When you click the left quick launch, the right panel will show the associated content. I think it looks good, why not use the default view?
Anyway, if you want to create a custom overview for Central Administration, per my knowledge, your need to create a custom page, then based on your requirement to customize the page.
Thanks,
Wendy

    Hi all,
Similar kind of issue occurred in one of our webdynpro applications of SAP NetWeaver Portal-
The error message "Error while checking in and storing" was returned by the BAPI while trying to replace documents in the DMS Server via portal.
But the documents were getting stored in the back end by the use of standard T-Codes.
Later it was found that ABAP tables COMPONENTS & COMPONENT_DATA are inconsistent by looking into the HTTP trace file.
The HTTP patch "http.c#21" was being used in our server.
SAP suggested the below mentioned steps-
-->Download the most recent SAPHTTP version & install it.
-->Then delete the RFC connections SAPHTTP & SAPHTTPA through T-Code SM59
-->Regenerate them again with report RSHTTP05
They were carried out in our ECC server & the issue was resolved.
Please try them out if applicable in your case & let us know.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Central Administration not Available, STSADM password reset errors "job-admin-apppool-change" already exists

    Hi Everyone,
I think I've shot myself in the foot by not properly following set up instructions.
I have a two-fold problem.  Firstly, my Sharepoint Central Administration V4 site is showing
Service Not Available.  This seems to be related to the credentials the
Central Administration V4 Application Pool - hitting Test Settings within
IIS Manager for the site shows an Authentication and Authorization error for the credentials due to a bad password.
My reading indicates that I should run something to the effect of:
    %STSADM -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin DOMAIN\username -password <new password as set via AD>
This runs into the following Error message
Error deploying administration application pool credentials. Another deployment may be active. An object of the type Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPAdminAppPoolCredentialDeploymentJobDefinition named "job-admin-apppool-change" already exists
under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPTimerService named "SPTimerV4".  Rename your object or delete the existing object.
I've tried searching out a solution but as yet have been unable to find a mechanism to resolve this error.  I have had a look through http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sharepointadmin/thread/b7c17dac-1cd1-4f75-a031-e28e4fbfd2f7 but
it doesn't seem to relate to the same problems - as far as I know the account from which the command is being run is a farm administrator and the problem seems to be the existing job rather than permissions errors.
Your help will be much appreciated.
    Stuart

    Hi Stuart Weaver,
Firstly, please check if the SharePoint 2010 timer service is running. If not, please start it manually, then check the effect. In addition to this, you can try to
run SharePoint configuration wizard, then check the effect.
Note: when you start the SharePoint 2010 timer service, make sure you input the latest password. The steps are as follows:
Open services.msc, locate the SharePoint 2010 timer service, double click it, then click log on tab, input the updated password, then click apply.
    Hope this helps.

  • Administrative Tools is showing 2 IIS, one is IIS6 and IIS7 which may be causing Central Administration not to be retrieved

    Hello Community
I reinstalled Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Server 2008R Evalution  64bit edition
on a member server running Windows 2008 on Windows Server Enterprise Service Pack 2.
Then I click the "Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration"
The first error I got was something to the effect that:
"The IIS Admin Service" service failed to start because a privilege that the service
requires does not exist in the service account configuration run Local Security Settings
    MMC."
So I changed all of the service accounts to run under the domain admin account
except IIS Admin because it would only work under either the Local Account or Network
Service so I ran it under Network Service.
The error message I got after that was similar so I added "Create Global Policy"
to the group that the domain administrator account and services is in.
After that I didn't get the error message instead in the address bar I
    saw http:\\<machine name>:port number\
But the page below was blank.
I went to Administrative Tools and discovered I have two IIS items:
#1-Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager
    #2-Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
#1 is blank: Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager
#2 is "IIS 7": Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
so I double clicked Sharepoint Central Administration v4 and clicked the Security Tab
and added the group with the domain admin account and gave it full control. I also
    enabled the following:
    Anonymous authentication
    AsP.Net Impersonation
    Basic authentication
    Digest authentication
    Forms authentication
    Windows authentication
Then I click the "Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration" again and
then I saw http:\\<machine name>:port number\login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f in the address bar and
on the page I saw HTTP 404 Not Found.
I think Sharepoint 2010 uses the 14 hive but since I just installed it I don't know what pages
should appear so I am at a lost at this point.
What can I do to make the Central Administration page appear?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Hello Daniel
Okay, actually I have tried to do this perfectly but after
failing initially I have probably been trying anything that came
to my mind.  So let me explain my initial effort:
I used a domain admin account and logged on locally with that account to
member server to install Sharepoint 2010. Then like you say, I ran the
product configuration wizard to create the farm and Central Administration
site.  A Central Administration site was created that I can see in IIS7.
I don't remember clicking "Basic Settings" or "Test Setting" but I do
remember clicking "Authentication" and I think I saw 5 or 6 types of authentication
but only 2 were enabled so I enable the other 3 or 4 and think they were:
    Anonymous authentication
    AsP.Net Impersonation
    Basic authentication
    Digest authentication
    Forms authentication
    Windows authentication
After all of this when I clicked "Central Administration" from
the "Start Menu" I would get prompted 3 times for a password and then just get
<machine name:port number> in the address bar with a blank screen.
After repeating all of these steps over and over again I decided to just
install WSS 3.0 and upgrade that working WSS 3.0 into Sharepoint 2010.  But the
problem is I don't know how to perform that type of upgrade.
But now I want to answer your question because you seem to know where I went
wrong so I am going to reinstall Sharepoint 2010 up to the point where I can answer
    your question of:
"If you select the web site and from the actions pain choose Basic Settings, then click Test settings, what is the result?"
    and
"What authentication is enabled if you open Authentication under IIS in the central pane?"
My only questions are what is supposed to be the results after choosing
"Basic Settings" and "Test Setting" and which of the Authentications should be
enabled and after I set them to what you say, should I then get the Central
Administration page when I click "Central Administration" from the start menu?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

  • Can't access Foundation 2010 Central Administration

    Hi all
I have a strange issue I can't find the answer to. When I access CA, I get the top menu but nothing else. It shows only 1 item in the vertical navigation bar on the left which is Central Administration and the right side shows Resources with a +
sign to add new items. The rest of the screen, specially the middle, is empty. I migrated from 3.0 to 2010 SP2. Everything else seems to load ok, except for CA. I checked the authentication method and Windows Auth is enabled, the rest are disabled.
    Any ideas?
    PD

    Hi,
Check the option remember the credentials when you log in as another user. Also add SharePoint sites to trust sites or internal sites in your IE settings. See more about prompting credentials:

Did you find related error message in ULS log?

  • Central Administration links point to wrong server

I have 4 machines in my farm. I used Central Administration - Server - Services on Server to change the location where the Central Administration service runs to a different machine. Now, even though the Central Admin website is running on the new box, the
links in the Health list all point to the old CA server. I can manually open up each list item and ask it to 'Reanalyze' but, once it is done, the links still point to the old server.
What am I missing? Is there a Timer job or Workflow that is supposed to change something. (I am surprised this is using absolute links. Shouldn't SP be putting relative links onto the list?)

Thanks for your reply but unless you have actually done this and seen that the health reports suddenly have a working URL for each of multiple machines then I'm not sure PSConfig is the answer. I was able to turn off the CA service and unprovision one of
the instances with PowerShell. So, the site is working but just not the health links.
This looks like a bug to me. Even if I go through the PSConfig process and add CA to a new server, now how will it know which URL to put into the Health list items? I just really don't want to run PSConfig on a production server unless I really, really have
to. It does more than I want it to.
Can anyone else confirm whether the Health links are broken on some CA machines and not others?

The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether

When i check the search status

    Please try below mentioned steps:
    1. Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service Timer Job" > Disable

  • Can not access Central Administration in SharePoint Foundation 2010

    Hi,
I have installed SharePoint foundation 2010 in Windows 7 machine. I can able to login into Central Administration. I can view Main page. But I can not enter into even any one setting. If i click any link i am getting login page again and I entered same Username
and Pwd. its asking again and again .
For example if i click Manage "Web application" link the login page comes again and its not getting my Username and Password. Some times its showing Access Denied Error.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you still got the login prompts in the Central Administration.
You can use the following steps, then check whether it works.
Open Internet Explore. Go to  Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet -> Sites -> Advanced ,and add your central admin url.
    You can also disable the
    loopbackcheck as below.
Click Start,      click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
In Registry Editor,      locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Right-click Lsa,      point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type DisableLoopbackCheck,      and then press ENTER.
Right-click DisableLoopbackCheck,      and then click Modify.
In the Value      data box, type 1, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor,      and then restart your computer.

In addition, you need to enable automatically login on Internet Explorer if you use NTLM authentication.
For the full conditions must be met for Internet Explorer to automatically authenticate a user's logon and password and maintain security, see

  • File not found error when tried to open Document ID settings page

    Hi
    when i open sitesettings>site collection administratin >Document
    ID settings
    it shows
    file not found error
    adil

    Hi,
first we need to figure out the error. change the web.config so that you can see the error on browser
    1) Obtain the complete call stack instead of the default error page:
    <SafeMode MaxControls="200" CallStack="false"/>
    to
    <SChangeafeMode MaxControls="200" CallStack="true"/>
    2) CustomeErrors mode value (in the system.web section) is set to Off:
    <customErrors mode="On">
    to
    <customErrors mode="Off">
Change these value in "c:\inetpub\wssroot"  CA dirctory web.config and
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\web.config .
now again try to do the action. you will get the error on screen.

  • ESET NOD 32 cannot scan past this point. I keep getting stuck at 56% at the following; C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\ Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\Pending. Is this a problem with NOD32 or with Firefox? Thank you.

I ran into a glitch on my system that I tried to fix myself. My NOD32 was always showing the yellow warning circle as my protection status when I started my computer. I tried to fix this every way I new how.
Then I started to get pop ups asking me to fix and then send system error reports to Windows. Some stating they were '''''critical.''''' So I sent NOD32 the e-mail below.
'''Me:''' I cannot seem to run a complete system scan. I keep getting stuck at 56% at the following point. C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\
    Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\Pending
I also keep getting messages to send error reports to Microsoft constantly. I also have this code C:\pagefile.sys-error opening
    Thank you for your assistance.
    '''Their solution:'''
Based on the information you provided, we recommend that you upgrade to latest version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus and see if this makes a difference.
Please click or copy/paste the following ESET Knowledgebase article into your web browser for step-by-step instructions:
'''Me''' : I did as they requested and am fully upgraded and licensed with their new edition.
Ran a new scan same problem.
I sent them a new e-mail but now wonder if it is a Firefox issue as, C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\
''Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\Pending'' this is where the scan stalls.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Try delete the files in Pending folder and make the scan again, do not be afraid to delete the files see : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/679996
    thank you

  • Error while checking in and storing: C:\Documents and Settings

    Hi,
i have some problem in DMS , while doing Check in process after attaching documents in CV01n.
geeting error like "Error while checking in and storing: C:\Document and Settings.."
please suggest me how to solve this problem.
    thx in advance...
    Karthik.

    Hi Karthik,
There may be several factors contributing to this error. Some of these maybe:
    -Storage category defined improperly/missing
    -HTTP/FTP destination missing
    -Incomplete Workstation application definition
    -Incomplete Authorization
Please run through/search for each of these issues (discussed several times in the forum) and adopt corrective action wherever necessary.

  • Error while checking in and storing: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop

    Hi all,
I'm getting  the following Error while checking in original to Content Server
"Error while checking in and storing: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop" Message 26253
OAC0, OACT, CSADMIN settings seems to be Ok .
Settings in DMS SPRO - in dc10, dc20(data carrier used PC)- everything fine
    -Authorization issues are not there
Earlier checking in was possible with same settings, but now we are getting this error.
From my end i had test the RFC Connection (SAPFTP, SAPFTPA, SAPHTTP, SAPHTTPA) through SM59 and its test run was successful. So the possibilty of RFC Failure was ruled out.
I knew this problem was arised as there is some issue in Content Repository, but not able to trace it out.
If any one knew what to do in this case, then let me know.
Secondly, what are the things need to be checked to identify the content repository Checking in Issue.
    Regards,
    S Anand

    Error Resolved.
I had only executed the below command
./dbmcli on SDB>db_execute SET LOG AUTO OVERWRITE ON
    OK
seems like Log file was full. but now its working.
    Thanks for your suggestion.
