Document opening in maximized window

I am using Adobe Reader 9.1, Windows Vista, and IE 8.
I have Reader set to not open documents in the browser.
When it opens a document, the document is always opened in a maximized window.  Is there anyway to change this?  I tried "un-maximizing" the window and closing it and re-opening the document, but it opened it in a maximized window again.
I've tried every setting I can think of in the preferences for Reader, but it keeps doing this.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
Bill

  • Target Document open in new window DEFAULT?

    Hello,
    I am working with a 50+ page document, each page has a TON of links, some shoot to websites, other pages in the document and finally... launches new PDFs on the DVD (to specific pages).
    My question is this: I am going through Acrobat and modifing all the buttons that launch other PDFs. After I set the link, i have to modifiy that link to have the document "Open in: New Window"
    Is there a way to automate that? Set that option to be default? This would cut a ton of time out.
    Thanks in advance!

    It doesn't happen that way here. A new instance is always opened when I invoke from the run box.

  • Compiled executable does not open in maximized window

    I have attached a JPG showing the VI Properties that pertain to Window size.  Despite the fact that I have indicated in Run-Time Position - Position:  Maximized.  The compiled executable does not open in a maximized window.
    Even stranger, if I take the shortcut for the program and change it's properties (on the target machine) to Open Maximized, it still doesn't open maximized.
    I have had this behavior with every compiled executable for a couple of years using versions of LabVIEW 8, 2010, 2011 and currently 2011 SP1.  Both the compiling machine and the target machine are Windows XP.
    Is there any explanation for this behavior?  Any way to correct it?

    I think Ravens Fan is correct. The aspect ratio appears to take precedence over the window position.
    You can set a property manually in your code to maximize the window.

  • Clicking on a link opens a maximized window.

    I have links that opens a child window. I am using window.open without height and width(as per the requirement). In firefox 30, it always opens the pop up with the size of the parent window. Is there anything that we can restrict Firefox from taking the properties of parent window?

  • Can't Train Reader X to open with Maximized Window at 100% zoom

    I thought there was an option for this under preferences for previous versions.  Or maybe the previous versions were smart enough to just remember if you had it maximized the last time you opened it.....like pretty much every other Windows based program.

    Sorry - I thought that was what you wanted.  Under the same menu, go to the "Documents" category and make sure "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" is checked.  It seems to work for me... once selected I maximized my document, closed it, then opened that and other PDFs with Reader and they opened maximized.

  • Firefox 29.0 opens new windows from clicking links that are in a smaller window, should open as maximized window. How to change?

    How do I click a link on a web page, and not have to maximize the window every time? Firefox 29 seemed to add this additional click annoyance and I can't see how to change that. I do not want full screen mode which is what Firefox calls it when it removes an additional row of menu items. I mean maximizing the window so I don't have to do it each time! Please tell me how to change the settings and restore this normal feature.

    Go to
    About:Config
    Change
    browser.link.open_newwindow
    value from 2 to 1
    Works for me now. Every new window is max size

  • Saving document open in external window

    Hello all,
    as always, I seem to be stuck ;-)
    I have an application that embeds the Acrobat control, opens a document and performs some operations on it using a plugin which is being "remote-controlled". The only thing I can't seem to get to work is to save the changes.
    What I essentially want is to save the changes into the same file, which doesn't seem to be possible if Acrobat is being embedded. At least an incremetal save seems to work if Acrobat is running in normal standalone mode.
    What is the preferred method to do what I want? Since I can seemingly save the changes into a temporary file I suspect that I somehow need to save the temp file, close the currently viewed doc, rename the file and to open the new one, which doesn't seem to be a "nice" solution. Even if this would be the only option I can't get it to work.
    Is there anyone who might be able to help me?
    Thank you very much for your time,
    Steffen.

    Here's the snippet that I've been trying most recently:
    ASInt32 objDocFlags = PDDocGetFlags(objPDDoc);
    if ((objDocFlags & PDDocNeedsSave) != 0)
    SendInfo(1, 2, "A");
    DURING
    PDDocSave(objPDDoc, PDSaveIncremental, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL);
    SendInfo(1, 2, "B");
    HANDLER
    SendInfo(1, 2, "C");
    END_HANDLER
    "SendInfo" is something that just transfers some information to my controlling application to make it easier for me to "debug". In my case, I'm getting an "A" and a "B", meaning that nothing is being thrown. The code above is incomplete, as I'm also checking if the PDDoc needs to be saved - I also tried to get an appropriate ASFile to provide the correct file system, but that didn't change anything.
    Maybe I need to add that I have the requirement to save without any "save file" dialogs.

  • Adobe 9 always opens in a Maximized window

    Hi
    When opening a link in Internet Explorer 6 that opens a pdf, the pdf file opens in a maximized window.  When clicking on a pdf file on the computer it will always open in a maximized window.
    I have gone into the properties for Adobe and made sure that it is run in a Normal Window.
    I have gone into edit > preferences and have not found any options where you can select whether to open in maximized window.
    Is there a way to specifiy whether to open the files in a maximized window or, as in this case, to open the window in normal/restore down view.
    Thank you
    Charlotte

    Charlotte,
    I'm having the same problem using IE 8.
    Did you ever get a resolution for this?  I see no one ever responded to your post.
    Thanks!

  • Open web page from URL iview in maximized window

    Hi,
    I would like to open a web page in a <b>maximized</b> browser window, using an URL iView.
    I know how to open a window in a separate window, I just can't get it maximized.
    N.B. I do <b>NOT</b> want to open in <b>fullscreen</b> mode, i.e. I want a title bar and menus.
    Does anyone know how to do it?
    I tried to play around with the "window function" property of the iView, but no luck so far. I can't specify a fixed width and height of the target window at design time, as these values may vary at runtime.
    regards
    Lothar

    Hi Lothar,
    Yes, That will require Java Coding, Its true. Basically what the problem here is that to maximize we are trying to fetch the Screen resolution dynamically through Portal that Portal is not allowing us. Thats why I feel that we should go for Java Programing, Create a Par, Deploy it in the server and then create iView for that.
    For Creating the Abstract Portal Component for Opening a Maximized Window You should do following steps.
    1. Open Your NWDS
    2. Create a project ie Portal Application
    3. Create Portal Object ie Abstract Portal Component.
    Now here is the piece of code that may help you
              response.write("<SCRIPT language=javascript>");
              response.write("function onOpenWindow()");
              response.write("{");
              response.write("window.open('http://abc.com','windowName','width=screen.availWidth,height=screen.availHeight,resizable=yes')");
              response.write("}");
              response.write("</SCRIPT>");
              response.write("<a href = \"javascript:onOpenWindow()\">abc.com</a>");
    Paste this code in doContent...
    I think it may help you
    Thanx & Regards

  • XI Pro, Excel 2013, Win 8.1: Opening a pdf embedeed in Excel starts Acrobat in Maximized Window

    I am embedding (Insert/Object/Adobe Acrobat Document) pdf's in an Excel spreadsheet.
    I'm using the option to show the pdf as an icon.
    That all works fine.
    When I double click the icon Acrobat is starting in a maximized Windows window.
    It is filling up my entire monitor with Acrobat.
    Normally when I start Acrobat it takes the window shape from the last time I closed it.
    Is there any way to control the Window size when opening a pdf from inside Excel?
    Thanks.

  • Open document opens new Window in IE which is in front, then back, front

    Hello we have here the following Situation.
    We have a big XI 3.1 Business Objects Platform running.
    Also we have in our company net a portal in which the users can open reports from our BO platform.
    This is done by usercustomized open document urls.
    That al works fine.
    Thing is, when a user requests the report, the Internet Explorer opens a new window which is blank. The Window can be seen for a second. Then the new window goes to the background behind the current window. After several seconds when in the new window the report starts to regenerate itself the window goes back to the front and the report is displayed.
    And that behaviour confuses our user quite a lot.
    The behaviour can be seen in IE 6 and 8. Firefox does not show this behavior.
    IE9 wasn't tested.
    So, does anyone know if there is an IE setting, or part of the Open document url which can change the behavior so that the new indow just apears and then stay apeared?
    Changing the browser to firefox or IE9 is not an option because we are talking about 30k pc-clients.

    Here is an example URL. I have made the servername and parameters in italics.
    Im not responsible for the deployment of the war files. But it was seen that after the update of the SP3 old opendoc syntax caused problems in other opendoc calls and was changed. So I assume that the war was deployed.
    https://*serverurl*/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?token=*servername:port*@*something-something*&sWindow=New&reportType=FullClient&ls*Parameter1*=*parameterstring*;&iDocID=*IdocID of the Report*&sWindow=Same
    Actually after seeing the opendoc-string im surprised of the double use of the &sWindow parameter.

  • Open all documents in the same window ?

    How in Reader 9 can I configure it to open all documents in the same window instead of as individual windows?
    Thanks

    Bug report sent to Adobe:
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
    MDI removed from Reader 9
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Open more than one document.
    2. Look at taskbar overflowing.
    3.
    Results: Customer is pissed off.
    Expected results: Happy customer.
    Steps to make customer happy: Get your heads out of your ***, and make MDI not just an option, but the DEFAULT. Who the hell thought going back to Windows 3.0 SDI interface technology was a good idea? Please post his/her name, and whoever approved that decision's name publically, because a) they will (or should) be looking for a new job since they just got fired, and b) I don't want to make the mistake of hiring them. I mean seriously. I thought what I was reading on the web was a hoax. I had to check snopes.com to be sure. Do you guys not have a random drug testing policy? For that matter, do you not realize that when a person, that you're trusting to make important decisions that affect millions of people, is sitting at their desk drooling on themselves and can't get out more than a single syllable word, that maybe, just maybe, they're not the person you should have in that position? Is this a product line wide decision? Should I look at scrapping all of my other Adobe / Macromedia products and upgrading to those that support 15 year old technology? Are you going to turn into another Symantec? Hey, lets buy take over great companies with great products, turn the product lines into crap, and then discontinue and abandon them. Seriously, what should we expect for Reader 10.0? Are you going to be upgrading to a console application? Please, please, please for 11.0 can we have it be phosphorous green too? I think Im going to go back to my bottle of wine now

  • Open a document in a new window

    How can I open a document in a new window? I need to have 2 open windows, with the same document. In MS Office, its "open in a new window". Thanks!

    Feature unavailable "inthebox"
    This is why I wrote a script available on my idisk:
    It is a good script, Yvan, for what it does. However, even with that script it is a long way to the full MS Word functionality. In MS Word, you can change the content in any of the open windows, and the modifications are instantly visible everywhere.
    If you have a 20 page document, you can change the first page in one window, the last page in a second window and page 13 in a third window. If you change a style, the consequence of the style change is instantly visible in all three windows, so you can tell straight away if it works everywhere.
    With your script, one gets just a read-only copy of the first document, as far as I can tell.
    I persist: the full "New Window" function of MS Word is not available in Pages, not even with your otherwise good script.
