Document Properties on Form

I've created a form in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8 and can enter Form Properties from there but I need to be able to add Document Properties to post it on our website for accessibility. If I open it in Adobe Professional 8 where I add the properties to other pdf's, I am unable to edit the Document properties, they're all greyed out. Even the information I added in Form properties in Designer does not appear.
Any suggestions? or am I looking in the wrong place or missing a setting?
Thanks for any help!
Sue

  • Document Properties versus Form Properties

    Hello,
    I was searching this forum and the knowledgebase to find an answer on how to populate the Document Properties visible in Acrobat/Reader 7 with the values from the Form Properties of a XFA form created with Designer 7.1. Unfortunately I was not able to find a sufficient answer. Is it possible to fill the Document Properties from within a XFA form? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Any help is really appreciated. Thanks!
    Kind regards, Karin

    Hi,
    As I discussed with my colleague on Office application, the Document property we can access from File tab is different from the DOCPROPERTY we can locate in Fields.
    If you would like to add the "aaa" to document, we could add it manually.

  • Can't seem to change the Document Properties Advanced Reading Options in a Form that was created in Adobe LiveCycle. This option has been "greyed" out - anyone know how to update this to English so I can pass Accessibility Testing?

    Can't seem to change the Document Properties > Advanced > Reading Options in a Form that was created in Adobe LiveCycle. This option has been "greyed" out - anyone know how to update this to English so I can pass Accessibility Testing?

    LiveCycle forms use a very different approach to create a PDF form than Acrobat and that approach makes many features for processing PDFs non-functional.
    You might want to ask this question in one of the LiveCycle product forums.

  • Form Properties vs. Document Properties

    I've noticed that values entered in LiveCycle Designer's "form properties" do not get carried over to Adobe Reader's "document properties." How can I accomplish this?

    Have you gotten any response on this yet? I have the same issues and I need the properties to be set!

  • SharePoint Designer 2007 - Errors with Edit Document Properties Form

    All,
    I'm using SharePoint Designer 2007 and in two of my document libraries when I upload content I get this error:
    Object reference not set to an
    instance of an object.   at

    So - when I open the EditForm.aspx page and attempt to add the proper Document Library Properties - and see that the Edit Document Properties Form is blank no matter what File - I try to add I get this Error:
     “The page you have selected does not contain a reference to the correct SharePoint list”
    Therefore - since the EditForm.aspx page hasn't been changed in a while - what are some items to look at to remedy this odd problem.

    All,
    I fixed this - by Opening the page in Designer - going to Insert -> SharePoint Controls -> List Form then selecting the proper library from the list - then selecting Edit Item Form. I then right mouse clicked the library and selected Properties
    -> clicked List Properties then clicked the Supporting Files tab and under the Edit Document Forms Property - selected the item as such - clicked OK - saved everything -> refreshed the browser then all worked!

  • How can i to print more than one document from a form??

    Hi;
    i would like to print 3 document (PLD) from a order form , ie, i want to print one Order more two documents using Layout Design,
    How can i do it??
    thanks.

    This might be able to be done through PLD.
    1. Go to the Print Layout Designer.
    2. Choose document type relevant to the report that you are going to
    print.
    3. Save template with new name if you are using a system default.
    4. Open the template and go to Print Layout Designer > Display Document Properties > Paper Format tab.
    5. Set the 'Number of Copies'  to 3.
    6. Save the new template and set it as default.

  • How to prevent editing a SharePoint site column value from document properties view of a downloaded document?

    Hi,
    We have created a SharePoint site column with below settings
    1. ShowInEditForm - False
    2. ShowInNewForm - False
    3. ShowInDisplayForm - True
    With the above definition, the site column showing only in view properties form not in New and Edit forms.  This column is added to a document library and updating this column value will be managed by event receiver code when a document is uploaded.
    Till this point, everything is working OK.
    But the issue is when we download and open a document from the above document library, under document properties the above column (with value) is visible along with other document default properties and  this column value is editable. With this issue,
    user is able to set a new value and overwrite the existing value by re-uploading the document.
    Could you please let me know how to handle this issue so that user should not be allowed to edit except viewing the value/property (read only)?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ramesh

    You can set "ShowInFileDlg" property of field to "FALSE". Using this you will not see that field in document properties list

  • Why can't I fill in a PDF document? Document properties say it is allowed

    I have just upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.5.1. Using MiniMac OS 10.4.11, Firefox 3.6.28.  I cannot fill in a PDF Document even though the Document Properties indicate it is allowed.

    In a nutshell, just because security properties say that filling of form fields is allowed, that does not mean that the creator of the file has actually added those fields.
    Normally if the form is fillable, you would get a notification bar at the top of the Reader window. It is possible you have that option turned off so select the hand tool and mouse over a field that you think should be fillable. If the hand turns into an i-beam, click in the filed and start typing. If it doesn't, it's not fillable.

  • Issue with Document Properties/Security

    I used adobe 8 proffesional to create a pdf form that I want digitally signed.
    When I preview, I am able to add a digital signature and Document Properties/Security it indicates signature allowed.
    When I open the document in Adobe Reader.  I cannot sign.
    Document Properties/Security state Signing:  not allowed.   We are not using Echo.  Help!

    Per John T. Smith's comments, I will Move your post to the Adobe Acrobat Forum, where you will likely get directly help.

  • How to upload a document with values related to document properties in to document set at same time using Javascript object model

    Hi,
          Problem Description: Need to upload a document with values related to document properties using custom form in to document set using JavaScript Object Model.
        Kindly let me know any solutions.
    Thanks
    Razvi444

    The following code shows how to use REST/Ajax to upload a document to a document set.
    function uploadToDocumentSet(filename, content) {
    appweburl = decodeURIComponent(getQueryStringParameter('SPAppWebUrl'));
    hostweburl = decodeURIComponent(getQueryStringParameter('SPHostUrl'));
    var restSource = appweburl +
    "/_api/SP.AppContextSite(@target)/web/GetFolderByServerRelativeUrl('/restdocuments/testds')/files/add(url='" + filename + "',overwrite=true)?@target='" + hostweburl + "'";
    var dfd = $.Deferred();
    $.ajax(
    'url': restSource,
    'method': 'POST',
    'data': content,
    processData: false,
    timeout:1000000,
    'headers': {
    'accept': 'application/json;odata=verbose',
    'X-RequestDigest': $('#__REQUESTDIGEST').val(),
    "content-length": content.byteLength
    'success': function (data) {
    var d = data;
    dfd.resolve(d);
    'error': function (err,textStatus,errorThrown) {
    dfd.reject(err);
    return dfd;
    Then when this code returns you can use the following to update the metadata of the new document.
    function updateMetadataNoVersion(fileUrl) {
    appweburl = decodeURIComponent(getQueryStringParameter('SPAppWebUrl'));
    hostweburl = decodeURIComponent(getQueryStringParameter('SPHostUrl'));
    var restSource = appweburl +
    "/_api/SP.AppContextSite(@target)/web/GetFolderByServerRelativeUrl('/restdocuments/testds')/files/getbyurl(url='" + fileUrl + "')/listitemallfields/validateupdatelistitem?@target='" + hostweburl + "'";
    var dfd = $.Deferred();
    $.ajax(
    'url': restSource,
    'method': 'POST',
    'data': JSON.stringify({
    'formValues': [
    '__metadata': { 'type': 'SP.ListItemFormUpdateValue' },
    'FieldName': 'Title',
    'FieldValue': 'My Title2'
    'bNewDocumentUpdate': true,
    'checkInComment': ''
    'headers': {
    'accept': 'application/json;odata=verbose',
    'content-type': 'application/json;odata=verbose',
    'X-RequestDigest': $('#__REQUESTDIGEST').val()
    'success': function (data) {
    var d = data;
    dfd.resolve(d);
    'error': function (err) {
    dfd.reject(err);
    return dfd;

  • Document properties

    Hi
    I am creating a form in Livecycle and then when viewing in Acrobat Pro the document properties options are all greyed out.  This is frustrating as I have not been able to set the document to open in full view and add metadata there.  I am sure that I have had this working before as one of my documents does open in full view.  I have now tried a few other livecyle examsples and getting the same problem.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
    XFA forms developed in LC are completely different animals compared to AcroForms (Acrobat forms) or normal PDF documents.
    The XFA form is "wrapped" in a PDF package so that Acrobat can open it. A lot of the normal Acrobat functionality is not available in an XFA form. For example you can add comments, insert video, or change the properties. Have a quick scan of the menu items in a LC form that is opened in Acrobat.
    You could change the default magnification setting in the Acrobat preferences and that should apply to your LC forms when opened.
    That's the best way I can explain it. Other than the previous post I do not know of any other work around. Someone else may have a better solution.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • How to access document properties/attributes?

    Hi folks,
    I have a document with some properties (File->Form properties) like title, author, description and so on. Now I've read that I can use the xfa.form.form1.desc.title method to access the title. But the only value I get back is [object XFAObject] .. what is this? It's the same with author or description.
    Anyone who can help here?
    Thx alot,
    Tobias

    You need to get the object's value property. So,
    xfa.form.form1.desc.title.value;

  • Custom Document Properties Don't Transer to Document Information

    I've got an MS Word 2003 document that I've added a number of custom document properties to. I converted the document to PDF using Acrobat Pro 8.1.2. The standard properties that were included in the Word file were transferred to the PDF file but none of the custom properties were transferred. I used the Standard conversion setting and the "Convert Document Information" checkbox was checked. Am I doing something wrong or does Acrobat only transfer the standard properties by design?
    Thanks
    Greg

    Thanks for the response. The properties I'm referring to in the Word file are those found under File > Properties. The dialog box that opens has a "Summary" tab that includes a set of standard properties (e.g. Author, Title, etc.). The dialog box also has a "Custom" tab where you can add custom properties in the form of name/value pairs. So if I want to add a custom property I enter the property name (i.e. "File Number") and the value (i.e. "VTD0123456789"). I am using PDF Maker and not printing to the Adobe PDF printer (although I tried that too this morning and the properties still didn't transfer).

  • How Do I Display Custom Document Properties On the Info - Properties Page

    Hi,
    I want to create a template using Microsoft Word 2010 that has fields similar to the Standard Document Property "Title" that can be used as a fillable form that repeats data throughout the document.  I need a custom document property field
    that you can fill out on the title page and will simultaneously change the same field that is in the header, footer, and file -> info -> properties page.
    For example, I want to create a document property field called "Product ID #" that shows the title of the property on the file -> info -> properties page as "Product ID #" and the content to show up as the information
    a user entered into the field on the first page.
    Right now I have a standard document property that I am using as a field on the front page for the Title which has user defined content on the front page.  This field has default content I set up to be "Product Specification Template".
    I inserted this field by using quick parts.  I want to be able to create a field that behaves like this called "Product ID #".  I understand you can create custom form fields that repeat using legacy fields, but I need a way for them
    to show changes instantly after you click away from the field, without having to "update field" where necessary.
    Anyone have any idea how to create custom document properties like this? Or even how to rename standard properties such as "Status" or "Subject"?
    Thanks

    What you're asking can't all be done without a macro. You can easily enough get body content to show in the header & footer via the judicious use of Styles and STYLEREF fields (and the changes are dynamic), but getting that info into the custom
    document property would require a macro. To that end, you might use a content control with a unique Style applied to it for the data input and a ContentControlOnExit macro to update the custom document property.
    Cheers

  • Document Properties - Edit in a page instead of a Dialog Box

    Hi,
    When uploading a new document to a library, is there any way to fill the document properties in a new page, instead of dialog box. we would like to use the URL and opening up properties in a dialog box isn't helping. (I have checked the advanced settings
    of the library, Launch forms in a dialog? option is set to No)
    This is for SP 2013.
    Thank you,
    Richards.

    It can be done, I don't have the full steps to hand at the moment but in short:
    If you get the URL for the dialog window you'll see something along the lines of &Dialog=1. If you remove that from the link you'll open the form in a page instead.
    The new button has some javascript that builds up the dialog window link and forwards you there. You'd need to use JS or jQUery to override that URL and send it to your version instead.
