"Document Security" and "Document Restrictions Summary" different

Why is there a mismatch of permissions between 'Document Security' and Document Restrictions Summary'?
I have a pdf file generated with the following security options enabled -- Printing, Commenting (Annotations), fill-in, Content Modification, Assembly. Even though these options show up as enabled in 'Document Security' section of Security tab in Properties (File->Properties->Security->Document Security), they are different to the ones in 'Document Restriction Summary'.
This results in the inability to use highlighting/commenting tools of Adobe Acrobat Reader (ver. 7 and 8).
The pdf file is generated using Open Office 3.0 Writer from a file in a .doc (word) format. I have also tried using tools like 'pdftk' with same results.
According to my interpretation, the 'Document Restrictions Summary' should be in tandem with the 'Document Security'. Am I missing something obvious here? Could anyone kindly clarify how to enable the commenting feature and use it within Acrobat Reader (the free tool)?
Needless to say this will be environment friendly option, which Adobe has been a strong advocate of.

Yes, thats right. I used Open Office 3 to generate the pdf. I have also tried using pdftk and Adobe Distiller 5 with the same result.
Your statement implies, the 'Adobe Reader' features cannot be fully utilized without a valid Adobe Acrobat Pro.
This is a document to which I have the source. I have been able to create the pdf with the required set of permissions based on standards. But I am being hassled because I didn't generate it with Adobe Pro! Well, I suppose this must have been a business decision, but its one thats standards contrary and morally low!
Adobe just lost an avid Reader user. I shall circulate my findings within my work and social circles. Thanks to competition and open source, I am sure to find a standards compliant reader without much delay.

    I have set up a sender mail CC that accepts messages already in XML format. However, the messages are missing the document name and document namespace. I am trying to use MessageTransformBean to add these to the message payload. However the examples I've found so far all talk about converting plain text coming in. When I used convertionTpe -> SimplePlain2XML it messed up the original content with unnecessary xml tags.
    Can someone please tell me how to insert the document name and namespace into the payload without converting the original xml content? Thanks in advance.

    As the source is a XML, why dont you create the MessageType with the same name and namespace as the XML file in the email.

    We are trying to create a documents via TCODE: CVO1N
    One of the entry we need to populate is the "DOCUMENT TYPE" to create a document. If, we enter the Document Type = DRW, we are not able to see our custom Storage Category while attaching/Check-in a document.
    Where as, If, we enter the Document Type = DMO, we are able to see our custom Storage Category while attaching/Check-in a document.
    I see that the Document Type = DRW is linked to Document Area = DMS
    Similarly, the Document Type = DMO is linked to Document Area = FILESYSTEM
    My question is, Is there a transaction code or a customizing option available to link the Document Area and Document Type?

    Good afternoon.
    If you are trying to run a report for a particular cost center (or range of cost centers) and have the report show the GL document number and document type, try transaction KSB1.  You can update the line layout to show these fields.
    If you are trying to run a report for a GL account and have the report show the cost center, run FAGLL03. You can update the line layout to include cost center.

    Goto menu SPRO->Sales and Distribution -> Billing -> Billing documents -> Define billing types. Here highlight one of the standard SAPbilling type (which may be relevant to your business requirements), then click on copy as button to create a new one. You need to name that should start with Z, for example ZF2 and then save it.

    This you can achieve in copy control settings. Go to menu SPRO->Sales and Distribution -> Billing -> Billing documents -> Maintain copy control for billing documents. Here you can select, according to your scenario, copy control to deliverydocument to billing document or Sales docuement to billing document.
    Then, here also you can copy the standard  copy control document types provided by SAP, and rename to your newly created Zdocument type. The source doucment (delivery or sales order) is normally assigned to a particular sales organization (which to a company code). Normally the company code is created in a particular country, hence the billing document falls only on that country.

    Similar to document BOM.This will help you to create a BOM comprising of various DIR's under one Library
    Usage: In production order instead of attaching various documnets in line Item , Instead create a Document stucture and assign it under Production BOM which will occupy under single Line Item.
    The function for exploding a document structure from top to bottom gives a list of all the documents and text items contained in the structure.  Each document contained in such a structure can have its own document structure, as well as being a component of others.  These document structures are exploded completely, level by level.  The depth of the explosion levels is unlimited.  The document structure can be accessed directly from the processing functionality of the document info record.
    Document Hyrarchy
    You can Create a link between the originals attached in the DIR, by defining the superiority status .
    By defining a superior document, a direct predecessor for a simple document hierarchy can be set.  The hierarchy is not limited to this level; it can be expanded from the superior document.
    The superior document can:
    u2022     Be superior to other documents
    u2022     Be inferior to another document
    Documents of different document types can be put into a document hierarchy.  Recursiveness is not supported; the same document may not appear in two different places in the hierarchy.  This means that a document can only be entered once in the entire u2018explosion pathu2019.  By entering superior documents, an entire document hierarchy can be represented in the system.

    We have developed guideline and schema for a custom positional flat file using Oracle B2B Document Editor. We were able to creat and deploy the agreement. But when we drop a message on a Queue being listened by Oracle B2B. The document type and version values were empty. We got the following error,

    This is our Java code for testing that drops the message, and I can see the JMS header with these values.

  • Enable Document Structure and Document Hierarchy

    We have enable the document browser in SPRO, but the folder do not appear in a hierarchy.  In other words, I can create a FOL type DIR, but it looks like any other document type.  I can not navigate into the folder and add sub folder and documents to it in the Document Browser.
    Is there a configuration that we are missing?

    First of all please note that in SAP DMS, you cannot view Folder structure as you would expect.
    If you want to create a Folder in SAP DMS follow these steps :
    - First create a DIR using CV01n
    - Convert the DIR into Document structure in CV11 giving Doc. type and Document number
    - Now the DIR is a Document Structure ( Folder) and add other DIR s into it
    - You can also add other Document Structures into this and those will become Sub Folders.
    This is a very time cosuming procedure and if u have large requirment of creating Folders and Subfolders, better install SAP Easy DMS
    In SAP Easy DMS  you can create Folders and Subfolders as in Microsoft Explorer.
    You can dowload SAP Easy DMS from http://service.sap.com and install.
    SAP Easy DMS is very user friendly tool and requires little training for end users to understand compared to SAP DMS.

    I am developing an APEX application, and I need a report region with a blob column(document) in it, and I want it to display like this :
    with an image on the left side(different images for different type of docs such as word, pdf, txt) ,
    and the file name on the right, with a download link on the file name, and also get the file name included into the download link address,
    also have the file size displayed in the report.
    I failed on getting this done with the help of any document, any help will be very much appreciated.

  • What value does CROP have in editor if you cannot define output document size and document resolution

    Cannot define document size in EDITOR or output resolution. Document can only be defined as RATIO and output is fixed at 300. This problem does not allow you to edit in EDITOR then crop to a specific size so you don't know what the x,y dimension will be once opened in elements. My images are 36x54 at 72 which are 3:4 and can be resized to 4x6 8x12 and so on. Once document is in elements you cannot resize.....either for print or screen to these values without doing another crop or maybe I want something larger than the given crop.

    I don't comprehend this at all.
    On the crop tool's option bar, there should be a drop-down where one can get away from the default crop preset options to "Custom." The replacement values can be entered in inches, and the resolution can be changed to suit as well. Just highlight what you see, and type in new value for px/in.

    can anyone tell me in f-03 wheather I can assign document date against the document number.One of my user posts the document with reference to document no. when he gives the documnet no. system throws up all document nos available for the 2006 -2010. So is there any way to give doc.no and doc date in f-03 or else is there any other tcode to post this.

    You can get the doc. no. and doc date through assignment field in the document, the maximum length of that field is 18. If you want doc. no. which length is 10 and date which length is also 10 so total will be 20. It will be better if you will use 002 in short key in GL Master/Vendor master so that you can get doc. no & year in assignment field. However you can make a new sort key through OB16 by assigning BELNR & BUDAT to get doc. no & date but 2 character will cut as the limit is 18 of assignment field.

    how can i add my udo-document with all lines in 1 process like the sap marketing documents?
    At the moment i first have to add the document once before i can add some lines in my matrix.
    If the document is not stored i cannot add document lines.
    Is there a way to put all my information in my form (head, position) and then push the button "add" ?

    Hi Markus,
    You can add new lines, before adding the document, using the DBDataSource's .Insert() method or the Matrix's AddRow() method.
    If you're writing directly in the DBDataSource, which I recommend because it doesn't fire any event's, you don't need to manually add the first line, but for all the next lines you must use the .Insert() method.

    I can copy documents from inside the doc set to other library but workflow doesn't work when run on doc set....

  • Document Sets and Content Types

    Hi All,
    I am having trouble in getting the "document sets" content types applied as expected when I try to create a site based off custom template.
    Scenario:
    We have 8 document sets stored in a document library. This library is part of a site which we have saved as a template.
    E.g. of document sets is "Others", "Meetings" etc
    Each of these document sets have one or more content types associated with it.
    We are trying to create a site based off the saved site template using powershell.
    E.g. $web = New-SPWeb http://myserver/sites/mysite/subsite
    $web.ApplyWebTemplate("{GUID}#Name of Template")
    When we open the document sets in this newly created site, the content types seem to be coming all together rather than being associated with the specific document set.
    E.g. Clicking "New document" in the "others" document set would show up content types from "meeting" and all the remaining document sets present in that library.
    Interestingly, when I go to "Document Set" settings, I only see the content type of "Others" Document Set.
    Any idea why the "New document" dropdown for the document set is not behaving as expected?

    Based on your description, I did a test. In my testing, everything worked well.
    The steps are:
    Go to Site Actions->Site Settings->Site content types.
    Create a new content type, and select parent content type from Document Set Content Types, and Parent Content Type: Document Set
    Click ok
    Under Settings, click Document Set settings
    On the Allowed Content Type section, select some content types and add them
    Click OK
    Then repeat step2-6, and create another custom document set
    Open your library, and allow management of content types in advanced settings
    Add the two document sets into the library
    Check each document set, and each one had different content types
    Save the site as a template and include the content
    Create a new site based on the site template using PowerShell(the command was same with yours)
    After creating, check the document sets of the library in the new site, everything worked well.
    Please check your process as the above steps.
