Can I create PAdES signature using Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or 9.0?
Hi
Can I create PAdES (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures, Technical Specification ETSI TS 102 778) signature using Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or 9.0?
ETSI Technical Specification (TS) 102 778 contains five parts:
• Part 1: PAdES Overview – a framework document for PAdES
• Part 2: PAdES Basic – Profile based on ISO 32000-1
• Part 3: PAdES Enhanced – PAdES-Basic Electronic Signatures and PAdES-Explicit Policy Electronic Signatures Profiles
• Part 4: PAdES Long Term – PAdES-Long Term Validation Profile
• Part 5: PAdES for XML Content – Profiles for XAdES signatures of XML content in PDF files
All five parts were published on 31 July 2009.
Thanks for answer.
DraganHi,
The short answer is yes.
Acrobat 8 and later support all of requirements of PAdES such as serial signing, long term validation (time stamping and embedded revocation responses) and signatures in the PKCS#7 format.

Can you create an electronic signature in a PDF file using Adobe Reader 9
Hello all:
I am filling out an application that I opened using Adobe Reader 9.
It is a PDF document, and at the very bottom there is a field which is meant for my signature..
Is there away to sign this electronically?
Do I need to scan my signature and place it that field?
Can I sign with a pen tool with in Adobe Reader 9?
Or do I need to print, sign the document, scan my document, and then import as a completely different PDF file?
Thanks in advance!!That depends.
Are they asking you to put a copy of your actual signature on there or are they asking for a "digital signature"?
They are different things. -
Issue with web links in PDF document using adobe reader 10.1.1
Hi,
We are creating the PDF documents that contains website links. The problem that is occurring is whenever we click on the website links in the pdf file, it opens up IE browser but just show connecting message without actually showing the link and its content. This is ocuurring when we open the PDF using adobe reader 10.1.1 . However it seems to be working fine with Adobe reader 9 . Moreover the length of the URL is bit large and seems like links work fine when we have 253 characters in the URL and if they are more than that then it is not working.Since it is working fine in Adobe reader 9 is there any constraint imposed on the length of URL with adobe reader 10.1.1 . Anything regarding this will be of great help.Hi..
Try removing a plugin...
Quit Safari.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin (or just PDF Browser plugin) from the Internet Plug-Ins folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari to test. -
We are trying to implement a process so that any document that needs to be printed through our Java application will be printed as PDF using Adobe Reader.
For which, We created and execute the below command line to call Adobe Reader and print the PDF on a printer.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" /T "\\<Application Server>\Report\<TEST.PDF>" "<Printer Name>".
Current Situation: The above command line parameter when executed is working as expected in a User's Workspace.
When executed in a command line on the Application Server, it is working as expected.
But, the same is not working while executing it from Deployed environment.
Software being used: 1. Adobe 11.0 enterprise version. 2. Webshpere Application Server 8.5.5.2.
Please let us know if there is a way to enable trace logs in Adobe Reader to further diagnose this issue. This is the Acrobat.com forum. Your question will have a much better chance being addressed in the Acrobat SDK forum.

In Windows 7 using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.07) was able to copy an item (name, number, date) and paste in another document. In Windows 8.1 using same version of Adobe Reader XI (11.0.07) not able to do this. Any solutions?
With computer running Windows 7 using the curser can select an item, then right click and select copy. With computer running Windows 8 there is a hand instead of a curser therefore unable to select an item, therefore unable to copy. Is there a way to have a curser rather than the hand?
Eureka!!! Just found by right clicking on the hand can then select “Select Tool” and then copy. Hurray!!! -
I can not open documents using adobe reader because I have to accept "end user agreement". How do I get to agreement?

Unable to open any PDF document in Windream using Adobe Reader (11.0.9)
Our company uses a document management system for storing and archiving important documents. Since updating to the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.0.9) last week, we are unable to open any PDF document using Adobe Reader. An AcroRd32.exe*32 process is launched, but the document will not open or display. Eventually we suffer a system crash. Opening any other PDF document (not stored in the archive management system) using Adobe Reader is fine. Documents can also be opened in the archive management system using Adobe Acrobat.
Try disabling Protected Mode (see Pat's response here: Anyone having problems with the Acrobat Reader 11.0.9 update on Win7 X64?) and see if that helps...

How do I sync a Word document onto my iPad, using Adobe reader?
My laptop can't connect to the Internet, so I'm trying to upload some critical documents to my iPad, using Adobe Reader. I've tried copying them via ITunes, and while the sync is supposedly successful, they don't show up in Reader on my inPad. Any suggestions.
You might also try to convert the word document to PDF using our Create PDF service:
https://www.acrobat.com/createpdf/en/home.html
or acrobat product:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html?promoid=JOLIR
Further, some versions of Word support exporting PDF files directly. -
I converted a 253 page document from Word 2010 to pdf using Adobe Professional 8. The pdf fike only had 251 pages. Why?
Word documents don't have a fixed page layout; Word reflows freely if it wants. This isn't normally a problem unless things like typing page numbers is done; avoid that.

Presently using iMac: OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
1. Open website; click drop-down and this appears:
Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe reader and accept the end-user license agreement, then quit and relaunch the browser.
2. Using an iMac, open founder and click downloads
3. Click AdbeRdr1013_en_US-1.dmg Apr. 4 2012, 7:11 AM 73 MB Disk Image Feb 27, 2013, 10:00 AM
4. Screen indicates it is opening Adobe reader X installer.package
5. Click this icon
6. Open Adobe installer; double-click install Adobe reader; putting password to access; click next; Note: Application is already installed; click finish.
Screen indicates: thank you and enjoy Adobe reader. Click Return to Prior Website. Click install now: total size 99.1 MB
Initializing arises with the following information: to proceed, open your download folder and locate the Adobe reader installer file, named Adobe reader installer [ XXX].dmg
It takes me back to steps that have already taken of locating down load file double-click to mount the disk image; double-click install Adobe reader; agreed by clicking open; entering name and password and clicking okay.
Did this several times with no success.

HI, can i consolidate all of my comments in a document to the top for quick review and then click on each ro jump to the posi in the text? I am using adobe reader for ipad. Thanks
Hi Steve,
Thanks. I have it sussed. I saved from Ipad to Acrobat.com, but the functionality in AC.com is crap so I download to hard drive and open with reader on my hard drive and that way can see the comments. I'm sure there is a better way to do this so will keep playing around with it.
Also, do you know how I can include my text comments in IPAD PDF in the search function of PDF reader for IPAD? Say for example I want to search for the word action through a 200 page document. It won't search the comments as nothing found when I search through a scanned document.
Thanks again,
Graeme
