Document setup bleed script for CS5?

New to scripting, but trying to figure out how to automate document bleed settings with AppleScript. Is this even possible, and any suggestions?

I don't have CS5 but I do still do the odd bit of AppleScript… Still Im not sure what you mean here can you either explain in more detail or post an image of what it is you are trying to do?

Is there a script for CS5 to export a multi-page InDesign Document to single page InDesign documents

I am having trouble finding a script or utility that would allow me to export each page of an InDesign CS5 document as multiple single page InDesign documents. I have found one script that does this for CS3, but nothing for CS5. Thank you for any help.

Generally speaking, if a script doesn't run in a later version, you can put it in a subfolder withteh correct version number as the name and it will work. For CS3 that would be "Version 5.0 Scripts" without the quotes.
That said, if you have Acrobat pro, it's probably easier to use the extract pages command...

Document setup bleed lines absent

I'm setting up the bleed on a set of InDesign CS5.5 documents. When I go to File: Document Setup: More Options, and set the bleed to .125 in, I don't see the little red bleed guide line outside my document outline. I've gone to InDesign: Preferences: Guides and Pasteboard, where I found there is an entry for the bleed guide. I can make guides just fine, I just can't get the bleed guide to show up on my pasteboard anymore.

The show/hide guides commands have moved around a bit from versiontoe version, I think, but they shoud still be someplace in the View Menu whatever version you might have. They will not be visible, however, in Preview mode (the pasteboard will also disappear).

I can't find document setup under file in CS5. Help!

I've looked everywhere...even in the Keyboard Shortcuts and menus, and it is not hidden. It is nowhere to be found. Help!

I dont know what specific settings you are looking for under the "old document setup", but here is a few options with the NEW look of CS5/CS6:
To create a new document completely:
File >New
or:
under Image> Image size:
you can alter the size of the image you opened in Photoshop, as well as the document size.
or:
under image>canvas size, you can expand the canvas to a new size.
I hope this is what you were looking for, if not just reply here to this post about a specific setting you seem to be missing.

Need Edwardian Script for CS5- anyone know where I can get it?

I have a client that wants Edwardian Script for her wedding video. I don't have it on any of my Adobe CS5 products. I do not want to join the cloud. Anyone know how I can get the font and use it with CS5?

I saved the font to my C drive, and then re- launched PP.
Saving the font will not show up in PP. You need to "install" the font into your "Fonts" directory. Did you install it or just save it? If you did not install it you should just be able to right click on the font and select to install it from the contextual menu. Once the font has been "installed" in your Fonts directory all of the apps will read it. I have Edwardian Script installed on my machines and the Adobe apps read them fine.

VB Script for CS5

I am looking for help to update a VB script from InDesign CS2 to InDesign CS5. I have hit a snag with placing a graphic in a named or labeled Frame or box. It has been a few years since I have done much scripting so I am out of the loop of new things.
If I select the graphic box the script will place the graphic.The line that is commented out.
But when I try to place it using the label name it fails with error The requested member of the collection does not exist with code 800A7708
Here is a little of the code where I am having trouble.

@rjbull – yes, "something has changed". Since InDesign CS5 you cannot adress the label like that anymore. There is a new property, name, and with item("A1") or itemByName("A1") you'll address the first found pageitem with that particular name in the pageitem collection.
I'm talking ExtendScript here, not VB Script, but it should be quite the same. Syntax is a bit different, but the basics are the same.
Unfortunately there is no itemByLabel() method or function. So you have to loop through all the pageitems searching for a pageitem with the label of value "A1".

Need help with a decimal align tab script for CS5

I have a list that consists of 6 tabbed headers in helvetica bold, followed by a list of numbers that should right align under the headers, and these need to be in helvetica regular. The list is currently in arial font. Is it possible to change both the fonts and set the tabs to align right by using a script? If so, is there one 'out there' somewhere? I am desperate, this is for my daughter's basketball team and they need it asap!
I am working in indesign cs5 and know how to load and run a script.

How do I connect my Centro to the Internet via bluetooth over PC's Internet? Where is Centro's PPP Connection Type? How do I setup Login Script for bluetooth connection?

I am trying to set up bluetooth on the Centro to connect to the internet via my PC's internet.
HotSync over bluetooth works successfully.
Computer specs: Toshiba P205-S6277; Bluetooth Stack v5.10.04 (currently using); Bluetooth Monitor v3.01 (to use Vista's built-in bluetooth)
I think I have narrowed my problem down to 3 things.
(1) Finding Network Access properties (to allow connected devices to access the internet)
(2) Finding Centro's Network Connection Type: PPP
(3) Finding the correct Login Script to use
for (1) I think I've looked everywhere; found nothing on Network Access.
Checked control panel: only Bluetooth Local COM
Right-clicked bluetooth icon > Settings: File transfer, PAN Networking, PAN DHCP server, AV controls. Other bluetooth settings are for file transfer or object push. I don't see anything like this.
I'm stumped on (2). It seems as if palm removed this option under Centro's Advanced network settings .
Nearly all the forums that I read says to choose Connection Type: PPP.
(3) Found 2 scripts that seemed would work. I don't know how it exactly works but it sounds workable.
First script:

**UPDATE** I found on this forum (Reply # 3689) that the script is needed only if you are using Palm OS 4 or under. Centro uses Palm OS 5.49121. Can anyone support this?
Even without the script it has problems "Signing In".
I'm currently reading this site and trying out its decribed methods. I will update this thread when I get the results.
I'm using the Centro. And If anyone's been able to successfully connect to the internet on the Centro via a bluetooth connection to the PC WITHOUT 3rd party applications, please share. If not, please share any ideas.

I've been going at this for days, and have probably exhausted all the proposed solutions on the first 3 pages of various google searches. I'm getting the feeling that Vista users are pretty much SOL for the time being.
For the record, I just tried out a few of the solutions (mRouter & SoftickPPP) on XP and they work perfectly.

Setup scheduled script for "dot_clean/volumes/"

Hi,
I'd like to create a script to run every evening that cleans our windows shares of the "._" files that appear. Can you tell me how to create a script like this, please:

This is a script I've created so far, but it's saying 'permission denied'.

You need to save the script as plain text, not RTF, include the following on the top line of the file:
#!/bin/sh
and set the executable bit on it. To do this, run:
chmod +x
on the file.

Script for Document Setup size...

Hello All,
     I have a request for a script, not sure how one would go about it but here we go.
An AI CS4 user selects a shape, they then execute a script that...
Resizes the Document Setup Art Board to one inch larger (length width) than the selected shape.
Then a rectangle is drawn in the document and is sized the same as the art board.
Any help would be great!!!

     I am tweaking this script again and have run into a road block that you may have a simple answer for. When I execute this script when selecting a single object it works perfect, if I execute it while selecting a group of objects the script will not apply the spot color to the selection. The script will however do everything but apply the spot color. Here is the latest edit. Thanks for any input.

What is a good ID5 Document Setup for an epub ebook for the iPhone?

I'd welcome some help using ID5 to create an ebook that is optimized for displaying on the iPhone.
In particular, I'm looking for appropriate dimensions of the base page, in pixels, to enter in the Document Setup dialog box.
From what I've read, 320 x 480 pixels should work well for both the iPhone 4 as well as previous versions.
Is that accurate?
The Setup page also includes boxes for Bleed and Slug. Should any values be entered there, or should they remain zero?

This is a great question because it seems like there should be… but the truth is that there isn’t. The reason there isn’t is important: You don’t lay out an EPUB “ebook.”
Since you got off with a bad start, you might want to invest in your background material; either new book in New InDesign-to-eBook Resources should be good for starters.

Script for document name labels

How hard would this be?
A script that would type the file name into the document. I searched for similar threads but no luck. Here are the details...
1. If the document was named TEST.pdf the script would type TEST in the document.
2. The font color, size, and type would be Black, Arial Bold, 0.4 in.
3. The font would be converted to outlines.
4. A rectangle 0.05" larger than text would be placed around the text.
5. The rectangle would have no fill and a 100% magenta spot color named "CC" stroke.
6. The rectangle stroke would be moved to the CC layer (pre-existing layer).
7. The text "TEST" would be moved to the Artwork layer (pre-existing layer).

Anton, this should be pretty close for a guide… I don't know what your exact font name would be… so this uses my closest match. Also you don't mention text positioning on the artboard/doc… The stroke is default 1pt as is. The height of the outlined text would be dependent on your font and you may have to tinker with the size where shown…

Would like to create a script for list all elements and structure of an indesign document

Hello everybody,
I'm a very beginner in indesign scripting.
I would like to create a script in order to list all elements and the inner structure of a n indesign document.
The aim for me is to understand how elements are sorted and arranged into indesign, and be able to find an specific element by its item name.
The output document could be an xml or txt document with a treeview structure.
I would like have a rough idea of which kind of javascript code I should use for that.

Hi Ossydoc,
You can use Muse to create such a website. All you need to do is, create links in Muse for the sermons and select " link to File " in the hyperlink option and link to those Mp3 files.

Now, when you publish your site, Muse would automatically upload those files onto the server and the users would then be able to listen as well as download those sermons using the links on your site.

Script for combining multiple documents?

well I think there's been a lot of discussion going towards this topic. My concerns aren't quite lining up with the topics. We using a script for placing images, and instead of going document to document...I would like to combine all the indd documents...there's usually at least 24...and to import NOT as pdf's, just as individual pages within the one document...insert my images using the other script...and then later choosing to re-export the pages as individuals. With ascending order of page numbers in the correct sequence they were brought in as.

-Printing by folder only helps when I need to run one copy of the files, typically I need to print multiple copies or save them for future printing. Also I have had errors printing via that method before because it will sometimes overload the printer queue.
-It would be great if clients always provided print ready documents, but that is usually not the case and I have to correct it which is why I am here asking how to do this.
And if you can not do that then you need to insert a blank page into the files with an odd number of pages.
Right. That is what I am looking for; something to automate inserting a blank page into files that have an odd number of pages WITHOUT knowing the documents page counts before hand and WITHOUT having to manually insert blank pages.
