my dokument shredder widgets dont works, sins I abgrade my Lion 10.7 to Mountain Lion 10.8.
Is there any shredder for mountain lion?

I was having trouble figuring out how to use it too.
I found these instructions for using the shredder:
"To shred a document, click and drag a file from the Finder. Then use a hotkey (F12 by default) to call up Dashboard, keeping the document in hand. Drop it on the shredder to permanently erase it from your system."

Problem with Document Shredder Widget

I am new to MAC products (have had my macbook for a week) and have downloaded the Document Shredder widget but I can't figure out how to use it or if it is working properly. Looking for insight from anyone with more knowledge and experience.

Can't copy/paste to widget stickies

I cannot copy text from pages document to widget stickies
on Mission Control screen. Help please.

I found out something interesting tonight. I reformatted the drives (same settings) and then was able to copy/paste to them. What I've noticed is that if I copy a file, and then click "Edit-Paste Item" from the menu at the top of the screen, everything works fine. If I right-click on the ext. HD from within Finder, and choose "Paste Item", I get the error mentioned above.
I'm pretty new to Macs and assumed that these two commands performed identical functions. Why would they differ? Is this an error in Snow Leopard?

Why won't Spotlight find a Text document in Search Results a 2nd time?

On 10.5.8:
I can type a search word into Spotlight. It will show results. I then open let's say an Appleworks text document from that search. Then I close that document and retry the same search: Now that same document will not show up in the search results for that exact word and it WILL NEVER show up again in search results. In other words after a file has been found and opened in search once , it will never sppear in search results again for the same word.
If you have an idea how to fix this please tell me. Thank you

If anyone else has any idea please tell me. I already tried what is outlined in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2409 very carefully and it didn't fix it. I have also "repaired disk permissions" and that didn't work.
I specifically want to be able to search my Appleworks documents. Currently I can create an Appleworks document, put "widget" in the document, save it, search for "widget" and it won't even show up in search results so something is seriously amiss. So I was wrong in the question title, coz it won't even show up one time!
Baring that does anyone know a search program that works with Mac that I can download and use?
The funny thing is that I have already tried about 3 of those and guess what? It still will not show those Appleworks documents in the search results. Given that fact, can anyone think of a reason why my Appleworks documents never show up in any type of search results?

Malicious widget?

I downloaded a widget today from my weekly VersionTracker e-mail called A New Mac Tip EveryDay 1.0. It was posted 1/24/07. I don't know if this is the source of my problem, but evidently downloading this widget introduced one called "Shredder" which began destroying all my personal data, product registrations, Safari bookmarks, saved icons, system preferences, and Lord knows, what else. I set about replacing data without knowing what happened. I discovered the widget when I tried to empty trash after working through all my applications to supply missing data. The trash could not be emptied because Shredder was running. News to me! I did a Spotlight search and found it listed as Shredder.widget, but it was not listed in any of the library widget files.
There was a cache file associated with it noted as "com.interdimensionmedia.widget.shredder". I never intentionally downloaded such a widget. I deleted this cache file and was able to get rid of this thing. I cannot find a widget with the Tips name, so I have to presume it's this little bugger, and it evidently began it's destruction when I chose to install it.
I have backups of all my files so it's just a matter of getting everything back in, but I don't even know what all is missing. Is there any way to determine the safety of widgets? Where else do I need to look for any remnants of this monster? Has anyone else experienced this? I have explored VersionTracker listings before, and felt they were a reliable source.

I have further examined my losses and attempted to repeat the happenings with a second test account. The problems don't seem to be particularly associated with the two applications mentioned. It's possible that Shredder was tucked into some other download in the past and set to be triggered by something - no way of knowing when it was introduced. I did not download it, did not install it, did not open it , and did not give it any parameters to act on. While Shredder is a legitimate widget, I still think it was maliciously tucked into something else I've done. It's the only way to explain it being so thorough at removing any data I had input ( as opposed to programs and OS loaded). All applications were intact, but registrations, preferences, operating instructions, bookmarks, music settings, added widgets, etc. were deleted. EACH program opened as if for the first time. Shredder did not come up in the "manage widgets" window....definitely hidden.
I've only been a Mac user for a year and a half, so I'm not savvy to where all the problems lie. This reply is more informative than responsive. There are bad people out there trying to mess with us, too!!! I think the answer to my question is "There is no safe place."

Backup Solution?

I'm going off to college next week, and realized that backing up my data will be fairly important. Getting an external hard drive isn't an option, so I was wondering as to how I should go about backing up everything. I have a 128 MB flash drive, as well as 100 MB available on my university's server for personal file storing. Besides backing up my documents, pictures, widgets, etc, is there any way I can backup application preferences, as well as my 2 GB of music? I'm open to many ideas, including how to efficiently archive/.zip everything (alternative solutions/programs), and basically wondering which files to backup in order to preserve the changes I've made to the operating system. any help is greatly appreciated

I got one of the LaCie Porsche back-up hard drives. They are extremely tiny (the picture doesn't even do it justice, this thing is small) and can store a lot.

As for software, I use SuperDuper and it is very useful. You can create a fully bootable backup of your hard drive, which will save all your applications, documents, widgets, preferences, etc. Basically, everything. It is also handy for doing incremental backups after your first one. I highly recommend it.

On file open: "This document contains JavaScript code for a widget that no longer exists."

I had an existing, functional datepicker in a web page.
Recently I downloaded the UI Datepicker in the Widget Browser and installed it in DW CS5. Now every time I load the file that calls the datepicker that I added myself, a warning opens with the following text:
This document contains JavaScript code for a widget that no longer exists. If you don't remove the code, the browser might display JavaScript errors when loading the page. Would you like Dreamweaver to find all instances of this code for you?
Widget: $("#reservDateBegin").datepicker();
Widget: $("#reservDateEnd").datepicker();
Clicking "Yes" opens the file and shows the search box at the bottom of the window with [current document] in File and $("#reservDateEnd").datepicker(); in Matched Text. Clicking "No" just opens the file.
The error is wrong, since installing the widget is what caused the error in the first place!
How can I get DW to stop showing this message?

I do understand you're trying to be helpful. I was just hoping providing the relevant code snippets would be sufficient so I didn't have to take the time to provide a "cleaned" version of the files and upload those to a public-safe location.

This is exactly my point: I haven't used any of the DW "systems". I've always manually coded in DW, so I can't have removed a Spry widget in the first place. It wasn't until I installed the Widget using the Widget Browser that I started getting the error (I don't mean adding the datepicker widget to the code using the DW Insert menu - I mean installing the Widget into DW itself). Ignoring such an erroneous/incorrect error seems kind of silly, since every time I open the file I get the error message.
Anyway, as requested, the following are links to the contactUsCleaned.php page, and the php included headerCleaned.php file. Since these use php includes to complete the rendered HTML, they won't look right in the browser, but as you know viewing the source will show the relevant html, javascript, and jquery code. I didn't see any way to upload the files in this forum, which, due to the php code, would be preferable to see exactly what my code looks like...

The footer.php file the contactUs page includes is simply a set of HTML links to the pages on the site, copyright info, and the Google Analytics script. There is no other code in the footer.php file.

Accordion widget in document template

I'm trying to design my site using an accordion widget for my
left-side navigation bar: each tab is a product category and when
you click it, it shows all the subcategories. When I was working on
just the index page, the accordion worked fine every time I checked
it in Internet Explorer. But then I changed my document into a
template, making the left-side bar a non-editable region, and
created 5 or 6 pages off of the template. Now, when I'm in
dreamweaver looking at any of those 6 pages, I can click the
non-editable accordion tabs to see the content, but when I check it
in either IE or firefox, the accordion tabs will not open, all
except for the last tab on the bottom which opens just fine.
Does anybody have any idea why this would happen?
Is it possible to use an accordion widget as my left-side
navigation bar?

There would be no a prioi reason that I can think of that
would prevent you
from having such things in your Template. Can you post a link
to one of
these pages?

Can't insert widget as document head read only

When I try to insert my LIghtbox Gallery widget into my web page in CS5.5 I get the message
"This widget requires code that must be inserted into the head of the doucment. Insertion cannot happen as the head of this document is read only"
How do i turn read only off? Or is there any other way to insert it?

Hello Jenny,
if I understand you correctly, you should only call the widget you need and click "code wiew"
From there you have to copy the entire source code into an empty DW file. So you can see how that works.
You can add only the needed code into your file or you can do it all in reverse, by adding your website contents into the widget source code.

Prefill widget using document template

We are building a website in which customers fill user friendly forms and sign a W-9 and other documents in an echosign widget. We are going to use document templates to generate the widget for users to sign.
What property do I need to set at a field level in order for the field to be pre-filled in the widget and customers will only sign?

Correct in regards of using mergfieldInfo. and tags.
prefill is a specific term referring to manually (pre) filling a form, which is indeed not possible with widgets.
You are referring to mergeing formfield data from another system, which is perfectly possible using the mergfieldInfo parameter.
in terms of tags the main concern is the name of the field and whether or not you set the field read only for the signer.

Calculator widget has wall paper background -- can't see open documents

Augh, yet another disappointment with Lion.
When I depress the center of my mouse to access the calcualtor, I cannot see the documents open on my desktop. With Snow Leopard and Tiger, I could see the documents, so I could actually input the figures I am trying to calculate. Now, some weird lego-type wall paper appears as the background. I see my widgets, but not the docs currently open. Duh!!!
Any work around?

Huh? There's the Calculator app in /Applications and a calculator widget. With the widget it's hard to see the dimmed and enlarged windows anyhow. With the app, you should be able to se eal you currently open windows (unless somehow you enabled single application mode).

Almost sounds like you enabled Exposé (press F9).
Here you mention widgets. So are you trying to use the calcualter widget or the calculator app. As I said widgets don't allow you to see the desktop except as a dimmed background and that is the way it has laways been, Tiger included.

I used the document to implement ORACLE widgets on my desktop but it doesn't work optimaly.
When I restart my computer the widget isn't launched correctly : I cannot see anything and I have a log in page only if I go to the "Pod Option" and click OK. And after that I can log in but the application home-page is displayed on the widget instead of the "message center". If I click one more time on the OK buton in the "Pod option" the widget is correctly displayed with the application "Message Center".
Anybody knows how it's possible to have the right displaying when you turn on your computer for the first time.

Why Tools list does not include the widget "Arrange documents"?

Why in the Configurator’s Tools list was not included the widget “Arrange documents” from Photoshop’s Menu Bar? It would be great to find N-up view buttons in the Configurator’s Tools list in future.

Ole Filed Widget to display MS Word Document

Thanks for all your replies. I am aware of the security issue here. This application will never be on the internet, as in anyone can connect to it from any where in the world, it will only be accessible from the network of the company form where i work.
Roel please could you expand on what you suggested, how could i make the :J drive accessible and how would i go about making an alias for it?
I have also thought about having the users upload the document to APEX and then select it from within APEX. Sort of like what Paul suggested. Would this be a better approach?

How to display large text document (2-3 pages) without using the webpage widget?

Hello all,
We are designing this online course and our project leader asked us to try to include the course materials/contents within the Captivate file as much contents as we can. However, we have several "big" text-based files to display, such as syllabus, standards, project templates, etc.
I know that the webpage widget created by Jim Leichliter can "embed" web pages and PDF files into Captivate. However, as mentioned before, our project leader wants everything to reside within Captivate. That means that I can't use the web page widget to "quoate" an external PDF file.
I also tried the extended Text Entry Area widget, but couldn't get it work. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this.
