Document Storage on an iPAD Air

I have many documents on my iMac that I would like to store on my iPAD Air. What method is recommended to get the documents on the iPAD and in what form (Pages?).

Sure.  You can "purchase" Pages (for free if you're in the U.S. - I don't know about other countries) from the App Store on your iPad.
Then store all your documents in iCloud for easy sharing with your iMac.

I recently  purchased iCloud storage for my iPad Air so that I can store my photos in the cloud.  I don't know how to do this.  I want to be able to retrieve them as well.

    Hello Janet
With that iCloud storage that you purchased, is used for mainly for iCloud Backup for your iPad Air, app data as in games and documents for like iWork and other apps that save data locally within the app. Dealing with photos in your Photo Stream they actually do not count towards that storage plan. If you don’t think that the storage is going to work for you, then cancel the upgrade you just made.

  • Whats happend to the storage on my iPad air?

Hi, i have a 16gb ipad air, and yesterday i had just under 2gb of free space, and yet today when i went on it, its popped up with a message saying i have nearly run out of space, so i checked under "usage" and its saying i have 0 bytes avaliable. How can i have lost 2gb overnight when i have done nothing? When i connect it to itunes i have over 4gb of storage being taken up by "other"
Its really bugging me now because it just seems to have lost storage overnight on its own

Hi, thanks for your reply again.
I went through the usage section and looked through every single app to see what data it was storing, safari, pages and all other apps where using minimal storage, safari was using the most with the offline reading list etc. but even that was only using 20mb of data within it. So there are no apps at all using much data. I restored it and as i said it went down to 3.5gb in the "other" section.
So i then erased the ipad from the ipad itself in settings rather than using itunes back to completely blank, and then restored from backup and that seems to have cured it, theres now only 1.5gb of storage under "other" in itunes (which to me still seems too much) however before i synced my photos back on that was only a few hundred MBs, so maybe photos have something to do with it.
But all my stuff is back on the way it was and its now 1.5gb as i said,  so i have no idea what was taking up the space before, but that seems to have cured it. I will probably do the same with my 5s to see if i can free up some space.

  • Unable to upgrade storage on my iPad.

I'm trying to increase storage on my iPad air 2 & go through the whole process of paying but the transaction will not complete. Has anyone had this problem, cheers Chris.

Can you use your Apple ID to make other purchases? Apps, music, etc?
You could try signing out of your ID, restart the iPad and then sign in again. Sometimes refreshing your Apple ID can help this type of problem.
Settings>iTunes and App Store>Apple ID. Tap your Apple ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the power button until the slider appears and then slide to the right to shut down. Hold down on the power button until the Apple logo appears on the screen and then let go of the buton and let the device start up. Go back to settings>iTunes and App Store>Apple ID and sign in again. Then try to make the purchase again.
If this behavior does continue, I think that Inwould go here for help. Thi is the iCloud Support site.

  • How delete other storage from ipad air?

How delete other storage from ipad air?

The iOS will NOT automatically delete "other" if the device gets full. That is totally incorrect.
"Other" is basically all of the data and stuff that does not fit into any of the other categories on the device, like apps, photos, music, videos, and so on. It contains Safari Bookmarks and History, Notes, Contacts, Email messages, Text Messages, photos assigned to contacts, cached app data (but not documents themselves) etc. When "other" becomes too large, it can take up a lot of space and cause problems. It should not be more than a few GB at most and for most people it would probably be around 400MB - 2 GB.
IF something gets corrupted on the iPad and "other" grows out of control, you may have to restore the device in order to clear that data. One starting point troubleshooting step for dealing with the problem is to backup your iPad, restore to factory settings and then restore the backup. There are also other less invasive things that you can try first.
A Google search will turn up many articles that talk about how to reduce "other" on an iOS device.

I have an old Ipad and an IPad Air. I used one Apple ID for both IPads. Now I wish to split the iCloud storage and separate the two. I want to change my new IPad Air to a New Apple ID. How do I do it?

Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, and enter your Apple ID password. Then sign in with the new ID.
NOTE: "Delete Account" just means it will be deleted from the iPad. The account itself will not be deleted.

  • ICloud Backup Issues on iPhone & iPad Air: NOT Enough Storage (5 GB)

I've been a user of the free 5 GB of storage since its inception without any problems.  I was backing up data on my iPhone and 3rd gen. iPad on a regular basis and never ran into any issues.
I recently upgraded to an iPad Air and set it up using a restoration and it went off without a hitch.  The very next day I started noticing these warnings that I was approaching my storage limit even though I had not really changed the amount of data on my phone or the Air.  I don't download lots of apps and basically only update them when necessary.  I use iTunes Match, so I stream my music from the cloud so I don't have audio files on any devices, with the exception of my iPhone for those times I don't have access to wi-fi -- and it's always been the same number of files/same size.
(The iPhone is showing 3.5 GB in use and the Air is showing 1.3 as of this post).
I do have a fair amount of photos in the iPhoto stream as I'm always snapping something, but not to the point of being obssessed. And I always am moving them into iPhoto/Aperture and deleting them frequently, so I'm not talking about thousands of photos being on either device at any time.
In other words, I'm like the average user when it comes to the amount of data on my devices -- and am not going overboard where it's at the point that I know I have to delete things to make room.
I've scrutinized the file sizes of everything I possibly can in the settings on both devices yet I'm still getting the warning that I don't have enough storage space.  I find it hard to believe that something during the process of setting up the Air pushed my storage over the edge to where I actually need to purchase space because I just am not seeing any deviation from what I used to do before setting up the Air.
I deleted the 3rd gen. iPad backup as well as any other old backups from iCloud which are no longer relevant each and every single time I've upgraded any device.  I don't have anyone else using these devices other than myself so no one is downloading apps, snapping pix, or doing anything which would add data.  I did a quick glance at the forums to see that lots of people have this problem - so I'm wondering if it's some type of glitch?
My iPhone told me today that I had not backed up to iCloud in weeks - which I'm sure refers to the time right around I bought the Air - as I have my devices to auto backup when connected to wi-fi. The last backup according to settings was 5/6 -- while the Air was on 5/16.
This is very annoying as I don't want to have to buy the next level of storage just to rid myself of this message so I'd be interested to know what others have tried.  Sure, I can just do a complete backup of all my devices to my computer -- which I do fairly regularly -- but it was always good to know that I had access to iCloud backups for those times I didn't hook things up to my MBP.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to things I can try to rid myself of this dreaded message? It pops up daily and I really would love to fix it.   Thanks!

I think I figured it out.  I went through my iPhone and turned off a lot of the apps that were slotted to backup and it appears to done the trick as the phone is backing up to iCloud.
The language needs to be broken down where it makes more sense of what's happening behind the scenes during these backups as I think it can be easily miscontrued that it's the data the various specific apps are using which is the issue at hand and not them apps themselves is what's causing the increase in size; some people may think that if they turn these apps off, they are deleting the apps from their devices so they leave them all switched on which ends up bumping up the size and ultimately eating up storage space.
I admit to not really paying attention to what the explanation was saying when I initially got the error message which made me initially post this.  Now that I'm rationally thinking, I can see the problem of the disappearing space and am off to turn off a handful of apps on the Air to reduce the storage allotment even more

  • HT201272 I had Pages and many documents associated with it on my generation 1 ipad. I just got an ipad Air. I downloaded Pages to my new ipad but all my documents are gone. How do I go about getting them back. My old ipad was backed up to my computer.

I am trying to locate my old documents from my generation 1 ipad. I downloaded Pages to my ipad Air but my documents are gone. I did back up my old ipad to my computer but I didn't restore my back up to the new ipad. I wanted to start fresh. How do I go about getting just my Pages documents from that backup and by the way, how do I access that back up?

You will need to restore the backup - just downloading the app from the store won't give you its contents from a preivous device, you will need to restore the whole backup onto your new iPad (which will replace its current contents) to get the app's content.

Depends on how you want to use it. Flash storage on the newer macbook and macbook air are built in. A macbook air is the most light weight and a very good machine. It will do all you want it to do unless you are running some very intensive programs. If you go to the apple store on line you can compare  the different macbook pro" and macbook Air's.
