Document warning

Hi,
Can I turn off document warning? I open some file .xls and numbers open before open file Documents warning. I want this option turn off, but I can't find some option, where I turn off.
Do you know, how I can turn off document warning?
Thanks Jan

Hello
Good idea jason. Alas, I already searched in the pref files for several setings and found none of them:
- alert - nAlert
- default date format
- default time format
- default status of a pasted graphic (this one is for Pages)
- default document features: I prefer it without headers
- ability to choose if we paste formulas or values when pasting into Pages. Most of the time, I wish to paste values, not formulas (maybe this one is for Pages)
- ability to select the replacement quotes. Curly ones are OK for english but are odd for some other languages. (this one is for Pages)
- copy/paste style extended to a group of cells with different attributes. Give us the ability to choose
- the actual behaviour: all destination cells get the 1st cell's attributes
- an alternate one applying exactly the styles of original cells.
As you see, we may imagine a lot of possible settings allowing us to adjust the app to our needs.
I'm not complaining, I just give ideas about things which may asked for thru the official channel.

  • Document Warning Missing File

I have iWork '09. When I open a saved pages doc many photos that were copied and pasted are now missing. Also in Numbers I tried to use a template that came with numbers and parts of that template where missing too. How do I fix this and can I get my photos back?

It sounds as something in the iWork applications is missing. If you create a new user account and try Pages and Numbers in that account and it still is missing images in templates it is a application problem. If the applications works fine in the new account it is probably a corrupt preference file.
The preference file is named com.apple.iwork.pages.plist or ...numbers.plist . You find them in Users/ your name / Library/Preferences folder. Drag them to the Trash/Bin start Pages and see if it works now
If the applications still have problem in the new account uninstall iWork. You cannot completely delete iWork by moving the iWork '09 folder to the Trash. Instead, use Yvan Koenig's script:
              •          Go to http://www.box.com/s/00qnssoyeq2xvc22ra4k
              •          Choose public_YK > for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items
              •          Click on uninstall iWork '09.zip, decompress it, open it in AppleScript Editor and click the Run button
Restart the computer and install iWork again and do the updates to at least version 9.0.

  • Opening/Saving documents from SharePoint 2013 in Firefox/Chrome bypasses Check Out and Check In

My clients have an Office365 installation with SharePoint 2013.
When I navigate to the site in IE and click on a checked-in document, it opens in Microsoft Word with a message
Server document  To modify this document you must check it out
with a Check Out button alongside.
However, if I navigate with Firefox or Chrome and click on the same link, it just downloads the document to the browser's default download location.  If I then open the document in Word, there is no
Server document warning and it is entirely writeable and it's also lost its link to the document library.
Is the work-around for this that one cannot use Firefox or Chrome with SharePoint, or is there some setting in these browsers that will bypass the download and load the document directly into Word?
    Thanks
    Edward

Does anyone have a better fix for this?  We are attempting to launch support for a second browser - Chrome - but because of the issue with Office 2010 on the clients, the protocol handler from Chrome fails to connect the requested document directly
to the MS Office app, but rather downloads the file.  IE Tab is not an option because it then defeats the purpose of having Chrome altogether since it simply uses IE8's engine.  IE8's performance with large lists on SharePoint 2013 as well as the
HTML5-based functionality is simply dreadful which is the primary driver for an alternative browser.
We are aware installing Office 2013 on a machine fixes it, but that is not an option due to the current licensing.
Hope for Chrome 31?  Firefox seems to work fine in our testing, but the organization wants to go Chrome instead of FF.

  • How can I find where a specific font is used in a Pages document

I have a Pages document that always shows a font missing error when opened. Is there any way to find where that font is supposedly used? Alternatively, if I install the font, the message doesn't appear — I assume that means that the font was found. Is there a way to find where that font is used in the document?

    Hi Bob.
For the present, at least, it's going to involve a visual inspection.
When you open the document, you can select a specific font in the Document Warning window, and replace it with another, using the Replace Font pop-up at the bottom of the window.
Choose a font that will be easy to spot, such as Wingdings, used below to replace Cambria:
At this point, you could replace the occurrences individually with a suitable font, or press command-Z to undo the replacement, or discard the Pages version of the document and open the original a second time to produce a new Pages document.
For the future, you use Provide Pages Feedback. in the Application menu (in Pages, the "Pages" menu) to send a feature request to Apple. The link will also take you to the Feedback page.
    Regards,
    Barry

keyFieldValue must be different for Rec and Trail, keyfield is to distinguish Rec and Trail, their value must be different, otherwise how can you tell which record is Rec, and which is Trail?
Try to put different keyfield value, chang the input file and run the scenario.
Also because you specified cardinality 1...1 for Trail element, and 1 is used as keyfield for Rec, XI thinks there is no Trail in the outbound file, thus it produces empty document warning as Trail is required to be present by cardinality 1...1

  • Missing fonts in iWork documents

My iWork apps keep giving me missing font document warnings when I launch Pages, Keynote and Numbers documents. This is a problem already reported by many other iWork users but I haven't found a satisfactory solution and I'm hoping someone here can help.
When launching an existing Pages document, I get this document warning:
Here's what I see in the Font Chooser. Helvetica has got some new variants like '.Light Oblique'. What the??
But if I quit Pages and then create a new document, I don't get any warnings. The Font Chooser also behaves as usual:
I've validated my fonts, deleted the font cache, repaired permissions in an attempt to fix the problem with no success. What should I do?

I'd like to add perhaps a slightly different perspective to this problem. I'm a graphic designer and use Insider Software's FontAgent Pro to manage all of the fonts on my machine. I use Font Book only to manage the few system fonts that are necessary to run the OS.
I keep the number of activated fonts to a minimum and regularly clean out the font caches to prevent any problems with all of the design apps that I use. I've done this for years and haven't experienced any font-related problems for a long, long time.
When I want to use Helvetica/Neue Helvetica (which is rarely), I use PostScript Type 1 versions of those fonts. I don't want to reinstall the dfont version of Helvetica, because that will create conflicts with the fonts in my commercial work.
Whenever I open or create an iWork document I get the Missing Font error mentioned in this thread. The new version of iWork lets me select a substitute font, but my choice never seems to "stick." Once I close the document and reopen it, the same message reappears. iWork seems to assume that every document must use the dfont version of Helvetica/Helvetica Neue, regardless of what I want.
Why can't I specify what font I'd like to use, and have it become the default for all of the iWork apps? Until Apple fixes this problem the whole suite will have to remain shelfware and I'll keep using Office. I'd prefer to use iWork, but at least Office doesn't insist on nagging me about my font choices.

  • Lost text in document...

I created a document in Pages with a border graphic and text box.  Now when I try and open the document the border graphic loads but the text box doesn't appear and I get a "document warning" window.  How can I restore my document?

Yes, it is a Word document. You have probably Exported it to Word, not found. out how to save in Pages on the Lion system. I don't have Lion so I can't help you there but there are lots of thread about saving in the forum.
You can open the Word document in Pages and it is then you get the warning. Open it and save it (or duplicate or what you have to do on Lion) Do the corrections of the document that was lost in the conversions, first to Word and then back again to Pages.

  • How do I search a word document stored in a BLOB using PHP?

I have been successful at saving files in a blob field using oracle.
I need to search through the word document, how can I do it using PHP?
    Please help!

You're going to want to look at the Text Application Developer's guide.
    9i - http://otn.oracle.com/pls/db92/db92.show_toc?partno=a96517&remark=drilldown&word=microsoft+word
    10g -
    http://otn.oracle.com/pls/db10g/db10g.show_toc?partno=b10729&remark=drilldown&word=text+application+developer%27s+guide
Give this a read and it'll give you what you need in order to search CLOB and BLOB fields for text data.
It all works around a particular type of index which is then referenced using a CONTAINS clause in your SQL... eg:
SELECT id FROM documents WHERE CONTAINS( document_body, 'Oracle' ) > 0
Once you've got your head around the basic priniciples you're going to want to look at the document filters. This should allow you to index MS Word documents (warning: I've never used this for Word).
It's not something that you can just pick up from reading a 20 line reply on a forum, but it sounds like what you're looking for.
We use it here in order to look up on HTML documents, and it works a treat. We converted our Word documents to HTML so we could mark them up and then display them inline on pages.
We wrap up the SQL that actually does the CONTAINS clause in a PL-SQL function, but I don't image there's a problem issuing a CONTAINS over OCI. Let me know if it works!
Might this be an option for you?

  • Document Warnings...

Okay, I know everyone is going to think I'm missing something, but I sure can't figure out what it is. Every time I open up ANY keynote file, I get a 'Document Warning' indicating that I have a missing font "Sedona" on every master and slide in the file. I have gone through every object and box and can't find a THING. Furthermore, I took one of my Keynote projects, deleted every slide and all the masters except one NEW master that I Created with absolutely NOTHING on it and I still get the message when I open up the presentation. I even did a command + a + delete to make sure that I didn't have some object that was off the canvas somewhere.
Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? Now if I create a new presentation from scratch, I don't have the problem, but ALL of my previous presentations do.
FWIW, it doesn't at all impact the performance, and all fonts appear as they should, but it annoys the HECK out of me just knowing it's there and that I can't identify it!

    You are not alone.
I had the same problem, and tried the same things you did, so I created a new file from scratch, worked on it for days, and then on show day, I go to open it and KN tells me "Marker Felt Thin" is missing on every slide. Huh? But only on 1 computer - the backup machine never asked for it!
I solved the "problem" by opening the font, but if the font were not open, and I never had any reason to change a font in the entire presentation, and no text got pasted in from anywhere, how did it get into the file?
I hate when unexplainable things happen

  • Keynote document warnings

I get a Document Warning dialog box every time I open Keynote, saying there is a missing font.  I can't see what's missing, but I chose a "replacement font" that is the same as the one used throughout the presentation.  Made sure the "show this warning upon opening" was unchecked, saved and closed the Keynote presentation.
Nevertheless, when I opened the presentation again, the warning appeared.  This is problematic because I uploaded the presentation to Drop Box for clients to use - very unprofessional.
I can find my own blankety-blank fonts and/or mistakes without the dialog box.  How do I get rid of the dialog box?
    Thanks.

Try this repair for Keynote 6.2,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update,
              its a freeware application
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
    4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility;
click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and      click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped.

  • WHY GRAB DOES NOT CAPTURE DOCUMENT WARNINGS?

    Hi,
I'm trying to convert some docs from "Word" to "Pages", when the document warnings pop up informing about missing fonts etc etc, Grab cannot capture a selection, some times there's a lot of info, and I don't want to type it all, keeping screen selections and use them later would help to speed up the workflow.
         Jp

    command-shift-3 or command-shift-4, did nothing.
Perhaps you have a different setting than normal for this?  Open System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts and click the Screen Shots item.
Any time I hit grab, the document warning goes to backround and therefore become not accessible.
Ahh, then you just need to be doing a timed grab.  In Grab, choose Capture -> Timed Screen.  Then click the Start Timer button, and go back to the window you want.  Wait for the click.

  • Odd Document Warnings

So, I use Pages '09 (since having updated from '08) to type up class notes (I handwrite during class and then type them over the weekend). Recently, when loading up two sets of notes (one for my political theory class, the other for political philosophy), both sets of notes present with a document warning, both twice reporting that there's a missing file:
    Templates/Blank.template/thumbs/PageCapThumbV2-2.tiff.
Now, I don't know specifically what this is, but I do notice that when I do a quick view in the finder of both of these documents, it shows the document as well as a preview of thumbnails. Anything further than that I am not sure of. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks, greatly appreciated.
By the way: I have tried copying the text of both documents into new ones and saved them, but I get the same warnings every time they're opened. Thanks again!

A Pages document is a disguised folder.
    Two formats are available.
    (08) the old fashioned one. The folder is given special attributes changing it to 'package'
(09 the new one which is a single file document. It's a compressed version of the folder. Don't try to compress by yourself with the Finder's compress tool, Pages would be unable to re-open.
In both formats, the folder contains a subfolder entitled "thumbs" containing a small version of every page template available in the document.
They are used to display the pages when we click the button "Sections" in the tool palette.
It's one of them which is missing in your document.
Reveal the folder is quite easy.
    (08) ctrl click the document's icon then "Show Package contents"
    (09) rename the document xxx.pages as xxx.zip and double click it.
You will find several picture files and in the Thumbs subfolder you will see the xyzThumbzz.tiff files.
Double click all of them so you will be able to recognize which one is available as a large file but miss as a thumb.
Open the large one in a picture editor like GraphicConvert and downsample it as a 41 x 56 pixels file.
Save it as .tiff with the name of the missing file.
Move the new file in the thumbs subfolder.
    (08) just close the window
    (09) close the folder then rename it as xyz.pages
After that, you will no longer get the Warning (at least the ones dedicated to missing thumb).

  • Permissions can't be repaired

I'm having some apparently random kernel panics which I'm trying to track down. Attempts at permissions repair (using both Apple Disk Utility and Diskwarrior) give me a list of the following permissions that "have been modified and will not be repaired":
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpLoad" has been modified and will not be repaired
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources /
DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "sbin/umount" has been modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/quota" has been modified and will not be repaired
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Reso urces/
Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Extensions/webdavfs.kext/Contents/Resources/loadwebdav" has been
modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/pppd" has been modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/vpnd" has been modified and will not be repaired
Also, each permission repair throws up the same vast list of incorrect permissions but with no indication that the permissions were fixed - for example:
"Permissions differ on "System/Library/Frameworks/CoreVideo.framework/Versions/A/CodeResources", should be -
    rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r--"
But it never tells me "owner and group corrected" or "permissions corrected" - is this a change in reporting since Tiger or is Leopard's disk utility just verifying when I tell it to repair? The same long list of issues keeps showing up each time...
I'm DEFINITELY using "REPAIR disk permissions" and not just "verify disk permissions". Have tried repairing using Apple Disk Utility on the MBP, and also by booting from two different firewire drives (one carrying a clone of the MBP system, the other a Time Machine backup with a clone of the installer disk on it). I've also tried repairing permissions using Disk Warrior 4.1 with the same result.
    What next?
I have multiple backups of my data and a Time Machine backup - if necessary I can do a clean reinstall of the OS and then restore my account from the Time Machine backup. If this is necessary, would welcome advice on the best strategy (restoring from time machine during OS installation or using Migration assistant after installation is complete).

several of those errors can be safely ignored. Some others of the ones you mention are not listed on that page and I don't know about them. Is your computer behaving strangely?
I'm getting intermittent kernel panics (which I acknowledge may be nothing to do with this issue), apart from that it seems to run fine.
Thus the vast majority of messages reported by users are false positives and can be ignored, but technically, due to the sensitive nature of 'setuid' files "SUID" messages should only be ignored after confirming that they are in fact false positives.
As Pullman points out, the following alerts I'm getting aren't listed in the apple document:
Warning: SUID file "sbin/umount" has been modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/quota" has been modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Extensions/webdavfs.kext/Contents/Resources/loadwebdav" has been
modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/pppd" has been modified and will not be repaired
Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/vpnd" has been modified and will not be repaired
Question is, what next? I've taken various other actions in regard to the kernel panics (such as uninstalling potentially problematic software and dumping corrupted prefs files) I'm waiting to see if any of those actions have solved the problem. Should I be worrying about the SUID alerts as a separate problem or just hope the next software update fixes them?
