  • Keynote: Replace Text under Document Warnings Gone?

One of the most critical features I use in Keynote 5.3 on nearly a daily basis is VIEW > SHOW DOCUMENT WARNINGS > REPLACE TEXT for missing fonts.
    Is this feature gone?
I'm in the process of testing out Keynote 6.1 to compile a list of all the bugs and missing features. So far it looks like when I open a file with missing fonts, I get a vague warning note that "some of the fonts are missing / might not appear correctly" but there doesn't appear to be any detail, or any option to replace them with other fonts.
I hope I have overlooked something. Can anyone else weigh in on this, please?

Try this repair for Keynote 6.2,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update,
              its a freeware application
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
    4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility;
click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and      click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped.

  • WHY GRAB DOES NOT CAPTURE DOCUMENT WARNINGS?

    Hi,
I'm trying to convert some docs from "Word" to "Pages", when the document warnings pop up informing about missing fonts etc etc, Grab cannot capture a selection, some times there's a lot of info, and I don't want to type it all, keeping screen selections and use them later would help to speed up the workflow.
         Jp

    command-shift-3 or command-shift-4, did nothing.
Perhaps you have a different setting than normal for this?  Open System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts and click the Screen Shots item.
Any time I hit grab, the document warning goes to backround and therefore become not accessible.
Ahh, then you just need to be doing a timed grab.  In Grab, choose Capture -> Timed Screen.  Then click the Start Timer button, and go back to the window you want.  Wait for the click.

  • Minumum and Maximum pointsize in the active document with font name

    hi
How to find the font with point size in active document and how to get the minimum point size and maximum point size used in the active document with font name
    Thanks in Advance.

Okay, that does look good (without testing it). Does it do its job?
I think it can be made a bit more efficiently by not running over all text frames, but rather over all stories in the document -- a small change, the rest can stay the same.
You can also try turning the gathering of used data around. It appears you are now pushing every item immediately into your array, then weed out duplicates. (For my thoughts on the latter, see below!) It might be quicker and more memory-efficient to scan your present array to see if the new item is already in there, and only push when it's not. (Bonus points for a binary tree implementation -- the fastest possible way! But a linear search on the entire array, or on a sorted array and bailing out if you go "past" the current item, may be fast enough.)
(On Weeding out duplicates; you might want to skip this, as it won't be necessary for the above:)
Your function UniteSame sorts out and removes duplicates by comparing every item to every other one; then it sorts the array. An alternative can be to
    1. Sort the array
    2. Create a new empty one
    3. Push an item of the original onto the new one.
    4. Skip items of the original list while they are the same as the bottom one of the new list.
    5. Until you run out of items.

  • When I copy an email message and paste it into a document, the font turns into all symbols.  What's the problem here?

When I copy an email message and paste it into a document, the font becomes all symbols. What is wrong?

To use images from the media browser, you must generate previews of the images first. It sounds like the "automatically generate previews for every new project" is turned off under Aperture >Preferences>Previews. To generate a preview for a photo to use in the media browser, right click it and select "update preview". The quality of the preview photo is determined by the settings in the Previews tab found under the Aperture>Preferences menu.

  • What's going on? When I type a title on my new Pages document, iwork is substituting a hyphen for the colon I want! Have never seen this one before. How do I correct this imposition? I have the 10.6.8 OS and Pages'09.

What's going on? When I type the title of my new Pages document, iwork is substituting a hyphen for the colon I want. This is bizarre! How do I make my computer do my thing vs its thing? I have Pages '09.

Colons are used by the operating system so can't be used in file names.

  • How to disable Document Installed Fonts feature

We store incoming files on a Windows server, one employee opens and makes laser prints of them to be supplied with the job ticket. Then the folder is moved (not copied) into the actual job folder in the same volume on said server. The problem is, the enclosing folder containing the collected indesign job cannot be moved in it's entirety as the server sees files in use. You can move the files piecemeal from the enclosing folder, or copy the whole thing to the desktop, but the enclosing folder & the Document fonts folder cannot be moved until the original employee quits Indesign. This makes a mess of the storage folder as the operators just drag out what they need & is of course, extremely frustrating. The Document Installed fonts feature is nice, but also a problem for us as we do layouts in Illustrator, and the fonts are only available in Indesign without loading them manually, so we have to remember to outline the fonts in Indesign, which is not possible sometimes depending how the file is created etc. The easiest solution is to have the original employee quit Indesign every so often, but I would like to be able to disable The Document Installed fonts if desired.

Good idea, that would work fine, TY. And Yes Peter, we would make sure to keep those fonts handy.
I am still interested to find out if there is a way to disable the Document Installed Fonts.

  • Message error from Adobe Indesign : Default font Substituted for missing do.

    Hello,
Message error from Indesign : Default font substituted for missing font
I am currently using version "Adobe InDesign CS6 Middle East," which normally supports the Arabic language ...
The problem is that the characters display correctly and others not! Especially this "font" called "MunaPlain", this version was created in 1996. (on the Internet, I could not find a new version!)
According to research, test... i have found that Mac OS X Lion that causes this error!
    My question is:
Is that I could uninstall Mac OS X Lion to return to an older version as MAC OS X Leopard?
Is there an update or plugin indesign for Arabic? (except ScribDoor, because in this case, it is useless)
    Thank you!

For questions regarding Adobe apps, it is probably really best to ask Adobe or use their forums:
    http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
I am amazed that an arabic font from 1996 would work correct anywhere today given the changes in technology that have occurred.  Is it really not possible for you to use a modern Unicode Arabic font for your work?  There are lots of them -- Apple gives you a half-dozen or so.  And there is a list at
    http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Arabic.html
Whether you can downgrade your os depends on your hardware.  If it came new with 10.7 installed, then it is not possible.

  • Won't OCR documents with font information

If you try to OCR a document with a mixture of scanned pages and pages with font glyphs, Acrobat will refuse the OCR the pages with fonts.
    This means
    (1) you can't use the "scan multiple documents" interface to OCR documents with font glyphs
    (2) if you open the document in Acrobat and scan it, you need to know which pages are scanned, and which have fonts, so you can scan only the pages without fonts
Even worse, Acrobat gives you no way to figure out which pages have font glyphs on them. This is especially frustrating if you have scanned some of the pages using "Clearscan" which replaces the scan with font glyphs, but in such a way as to be nearly imperceptible. The only way to find out is to try to OCR the document (up to 4 hours for large documents on a fast computer), then write down the error message, and then try again.
I have submitted a bug report to Adobe, but will not hold my breath waiting for them to fix this one.

PS--The error message in Acrobat is "This page contains renderable text." Thought I should put it in so that others can search for this post.

  • Document Warnings - Missing File REDUX

I have a rather lengthy file that continues to give a Document Warnings notice that a Missing File Type of Description "tilepaperblue-420.jpg".
I actually have a list of some 180 "tilepaperblue-###.jpg" files listed. I'm using a blank template for the file and never used any file "tilepaperblue-###.jpg". I've searched my hard drive for any such file and get bupkis.
    Any thoughts?

Besides being kept in places like the iWork application support folder, theme files can also be located within presentations. If you are saving Keynote files as packages, right click on the file and select "Show package contents". For iWork 5.05 you will see a directory called "theme-files". If you receive the warning about missing theme-files, that is probably where they are missing from.
(If you are not saving Keynote files as packages, you can convert them by changing the file extension from *.key to *.zip, then unzip the file, which will now appear as a directory. If you add the extension *.key to this directory, it will become a package that is readable by Keynote. Look inside the package directory for theme-files if you are using iWork 5.05. Otherwise, the theme image files will be scattered among the other files in the directory.)
The first time I encountered this problem I was using a Keynote file that contained content pulled from another Keynote file that was a converted PowerPoint file. I looked into the theme-file directory of the original converted file, and sure enough the "missing files" were there. I copied them and pasted them into the theme-files directory of the presentation that was complaining. The complaints ceased! I have no idea where the files came from originally.

  • Document Warnings:  Missing Fonts

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro with iWork 08. When I open a Pages template, I get an error message that tells me: "Some warnings occured. Would you like to review them now?"
If I click "Review," then I get a list of missing fonts.
    Anyone else have this issue?

    Hi Neil,
    Welcome to Pages discussions.
Go to Applications>Font book.app double click. Look in there to see if the fonts are truly missing. If they are there click the font then File>Validate Font, file>Validate file. See if this helps you. Sometimes a message stating a font is missing it just needs to be validated.
    Hope this helps.
    Sincerely,
    RicD

  • Can I turn off annoying document warnings pop-ups

Now that I've upgraded to Pages 5 everytime I open a Pages 4 document I get warnings, either about fonts not recognized or that spotlight search information was removed. It's so annoying that I took the time to write this questrequest.

no, not at all, but I've found threads for a lot of the other things where people are complaining and Apple isn't listening.

  • Document Warnings...

Okay, I know everyone is going to think I'm missing something, but I sure can't figure out what it is. Every time I open up ANY keynote file, I get a 'Document Warning' indicating that I have a missing font "Sedona" on every master and slide in the file. I have gone through every object and box and can't find a THING. Furthermore, I took one of my Keynote projects, deleted every slide and all the masters except one NEW master that I Created with absolutely NOTHING on it and I still get the message when I open up the presentation. I even did a command + a + delete to make sure that I didn't have some object that was off the canvas somewhere.
Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? Now if I create a new presentation from scratch, I don't have the problem, but ALL of my previous presentations do.
FWIW, it doesn't at all impact the performance, and all fonts appear as they should, but it annoys the HECK out of me just knowing it's there and that I can't identify it!

    You are not alone.
I had the same problem, and tried the same things you did, so I created a new file from scratch, worked on it for days, and then on show day, I go to open it and KN tells me "Marker Felt Thin" is missing on every slide. Huh? But only on 1 computer - the backup machine never asked for it!
I solved the "problem" by opening the font, but if the font were not open, and I never had any reason to change a font in the entire presentation, and no text got pasted in from anywhere, how did it get into the file?
I hate when unexplainable things happen

  • Font Substituted

I am using a current iMac 2.8 24". I just freshly reinstalled OS X 10.5.4, InDesign CS3 (with updates), and my fonts. I reinstalled OS X because I thought I had a preference file issue. That appears not to be the case.
My issue: Normal letter sized document. Using purchase font "Bernie Bold". It is not restricted from being embedded. Create a text frame, copy some random text, print. Font is replaced by some random awful bitmap/digital looking font with bad kerning on the output to my local laser printer. Try the same thing in Word or Pages and the proper font is printed. Any thoughts?

2 is the case, but only when it comes to InDesign and Adobe products. The fonts are displayed on the screen correctly, just come out awful when printed. Apple Pages, Microsoft Word, and Printshop all display and print the fonts with no issue.
I ran Onyx and cleared the font caches with no change in results.
I'm starting to think there is some issue with updates or drivers maybe? I know that it was working just fine on my computer a month ago. My partner's computer was replaced with a newer one (G4 iMac to Intel Core 2 iMac) recently. Both original computers (mine and partner's) were working just fine and printing these fonts with no issue.
This sucks. I have so many variables that it is almost impossible to decipher where things changed that might have caused the issue. Since I have had a know working workflow with these fonts the following has changed:
    Apple OS X 10.5.4 update
    Apple OS X 10.5.5 update
    Adobe InDesign CS3 5.0.3 update
    Okidata printer driver update
New Intel iMac from G4 switch
    Extensis Suitcase Fusion update
All of these items have happened since I know for a fact that I had good working copy using these fonts come out well.
So far I have gone to the lengths of a complete wipe and fresh reinstall of all programs and OS. Not an archive and install, a fresh install.
    I'm at my wits end.
