Do you know if there is document with all the Java Language Specification changes introduced by JDK 5.0? I think I've seen such a document somewhere on the java.sun.com website but I can't remember where.
I wish there was an updated version of JLS.

If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.
You can use the Apple programs Pages and Numbers to access the files. They can be bought and downloaded from the App store. NeoOffice is available at http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php which has Lion support. OpenOffice doesn't talk to Lion support, it's at http://www.openoffice.org/

I suggest the easy stuff first:
1) quite Numbers and restart Numbers
2) reboot the computer
After that try opening the same document in another user space

If you're using Mac OS X, follow these steps:
Quit iTunes.
Go to your iTunes Media folder. By default, it's in ~/Music/iTunes. (This folder may be named iTunes Music if you created your iTunes library in iTunes 9 or earlier.)
Note: "~" represents your Home folder. Other users on your computer can't access these locations.
Drag the iTunes Media folder to a public location. For example, you could move it to the Public folder in your Home folder (~/Public) or to a location outside your Home folder that other users can access (/Users/Shared).
Important: Don't move the iTunes folder, the iTunes library file, or the iTunes library.xml file.
Open iTunes.
Choose iTunes > Preferences.
Click Advanced.
Click the Change button.
In the window that opens, go to your iTunes Media folder.
Click Choose or Open.
Repeat these steps for each user that you want to share music with. If multiple users on your computer are storing music in the same public folder, duplicate song files may appear if a user imports music from a CD that another user already imported.

What's with all the --force-ing?

The recent and somehow-still-ongoing glibc debacle has revealed more than ever that a good number of users actually use Pacman's --force flag even though it's repeatedly advised against pretty much everywhere on the archlinux.org domain. I'm just curious...are there other common Linux package managers (or other software) that encourage the use of --force such that they might lull new Pacman users into a false sense of security in performing it? Other systems with which it is not uncommon to use --force? I just find the whole situation a bit surprising.
Is there any other way to convince these users that --force is *not* ok unless the devs recommend it, without resorting to hand-holding?

I have successfully developed and deployed several java web services using the spring framework. These web services are working. The individual wsdl files all work at the given url path:
https://hostname:port/webservices/axis/<serviceName>?wsdl
BUT there the URL with all the wsdl does not:
https://hostname:port/webservices/axis
The group page is defined automatically somehow with the following information:

* SearchDoc (wsdl link)
o getLogger
o doSearch
* Databases (wsdl link)
o getAllDatabases
o getDbCategories
o getDbList
o getDbListAsXml
o getDatabasesForCategory
where SearchDoc and Databases are a serverName. The group page provides a link to earch service. HOWEVER, the wsdl link has an incorrect wsld url path to
https://hostname:port/webservices/services/<serviceName>?wsdl.
(NOTE: services should be axis in the url!)
I think somehow spring is doing this but I am not sure. I have played around and tried serveral changes to the web.xml file but it did not work. The AxisServlet is mapped to /axis/*. I think the services is a default that I need to change in a configuration file somehow?
But the webservices work at the url: https://hostname:port/webservices/axis/<serviceName>?wsdl. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try?

How can I populate my PC HD with all the files that are currently on my iPod Classic?

I think I've changed PCs three times since I've had my iPod Classic 80 gb.
I think because of this, I have lost copies of files on my PC along the way (probably some of them remained in the earlier PCs and never made it to my current PC) although everything still seems to be on my iPod. So, I often get the message "Cannot locate file."
Is there a way to populate my current PC with all the files I have on my iPod?
Simply syncing my iPod doesn't seem to do the trick.

You cannot use an iPod backup to restore to an iPad, nor can you use an iPad backup to restore to an iPod.
Some apps support data syncing through iCloud, but this feature needs building into the app by the developer. If your app doesn't support this, then I believe there is no way to transfer the data between your two devices.

How do I remove the front housing (the area with all the little holes)?

Changing the Admin Username is WAY too hard.
Create a new Admin User and password.
Log out. Log in as the new Admin User you just created.
Delete the old Admin user. The only way this works is if you created a good Admin user.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 3
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts.
Step 4
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.

Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. Probably all depends on your past experience, but I'm getting a new Macbook Air next week, and I will be purchasing Microsoft Office. I have been using Word and Excel for years, and know all of the tricks, bells, and whistles, so just really don't want to go through a major learning curve to figure out how to use a new word processing and spreadsheet processing system.
I've had a little experience with Pages on my iPad (which I know is not even a close comparison to what is on the Mac), but I'm just more comfortable with Word.
So, I'd say depends on whether you want something that you are comfortable with, or something that is a new adventure! What's your pleasure?
