Documentation about Content Area APIs and Views

Can somebody point me to the documentation about Content Area APIs and also the documentation about the views of the Content Areas ?
I have not been able to find nothing else that what is available in the package specs.

Does the content area API work with Release 2?

Does the content area API work with Release 2 yet?

Release 2 page group APIs will be available in early 2003, in the first PDK version following the 9.0.2.6 (upgrade) release. These APIs will be backward compatible with the 3.0.9 content area APIs.

Difference between content area page and page

Can someone point me to doc or tell me what is the difference
between content area page created in Content Area Manager and
the page created in create page tool ?
I'm really confused.

Essentially they're the same.
The CA page get's implicitly created when you create the CA
because architecturally when we display content for you to work
with we need a place to post the navigator portlet and the
content portlet.
In the next release this will change, there will be only one
type of page, and you will be able to add content and/or
portlets to it.

I am laying down the specs to write a command line utility for item upload.

Is there any Documentation about MDM4J (Java API) ?

I was wondering... Is there any possibility to get documentation about the classes in the MDM4J.jar ?
We can not use the other Java Api, and we need to understand this one.

That adress is the documentation for the "New Java API", not the MDM4J.

How can i make the navigation easier in my content area? (TREE VIEW)

Now I use 1 navbar for my whole content area.
This is what I want :
I would like to navigatie in my content area lik I navigate in the explorer of microsoft.
Is there a script,
portlet, or something like that.
when I delete a folder it must automaticle disapear from the tree view.
When I add it must be displayed.
When the folder isn't public it, the public can't see it

If you are using the same nav bar you could build a custom nav bar in the shared objects and publish it as a portlet. In the properties of a folder you can assign an image for the nav bar. This could make it look like a tree assuming you build the images that way. Also your folder links should disappear from the nav bar when they are deleted. I think.

Switching Content Area Portlet Edit/View Mode

I am trying this question again since I did not get responses to my first try.
The current Content Area Portlet included with Portal 3.0.8 works fine except that it does not include the "Main Banner" nor the "Sub Banner". This means that portlet users do not have access to either the "Edit/View folder" function nor the current folder name.
My customer would like some users to have item upload capability. What are my choices without these banners? I can access the content area in "full page" mode and have the banners available. But this is undesirable since we would like the content area to stay "in the portlet" in order to maintain portal context.
I might be able to switch the edit/view function from another portlet on the same page if I pass the p_edit and p_mode parameters to redraw the multiple portlet page correctly. I have tried passing p_edit using the portlet reference path "&162_KCPCONTENTAREA_6429252.p_edit=1", but the Content Area Portlet does not respond. What else do I need to do? Is this even possible?

I have determined that there will be be an edit link included in the Content Area Portlet in the 3.0.9 release due out in May. This leaves open the question of support for parameter passing for out-of-the-box portlets. Will (Is) this supported?

Using Content Area API's

Hi,
I want to use public API to add items to content areas. However this API ( wwsbr_api) seems only work when user is Portal30. When i try to run this API with other user it fails.
i've run the script sbrapi.sql to add some grant to the user.
This is the command that i'm trying to run with a database user that is diferent from portal30

I am new to MDM. I am going to develop some web dynpro application using mdm java api.
My question is regarding the relationship between MDM version and NW version:
for example
1.MDM5.5 JAVA api can be deployed to CE 7.11 server?
2.MDM7.1 JAVA API can be deployed to CE 7.11 server? or can only be deployed to CE server.
the same question for the MDM portal content.
the possible dev environment for our company would be:
1.MDM7.1
2.CE7.2(do we need another EP7 server for the UWL?)

I am using Portal 7.0. MDM version is 7.1.
My problem is ... i am trying to connect WebDynpro (JAVA) to MDM7.1. But am unable to do so. I have a WD Frame in which i have a WD iView and the MDM iView. But i am unable to pass parameters from the WD iView to MDM Item Details iView.
Note:
1. I have deployed MDM JAVA API on NWDS
2. I have specified " * " as a parameter to pass from the URL in the Item Details iView.
Please help.

Disappearing content area in edit view

Hello,
In contribute, the content of my page dissapears when I click to "edit page." My other pages work fine when I click to edit, it is just one page that the content dissapears. Any ideas of how to get that back?
Below is the page before I click "edit page". The second image is what happens to the page after I click "edit page." I loose the data/text in the middle of the page that I need to change.

You are not alone. I too cannot edit my home page. All other pages edit fine. Here is the home page. http://www.audiofilesolutions.com.
Here is how a subpage looks in CS4 & CS5 when editing.
And here is how the corrupted home page looks.
As you can see, all the text and content goes away except for the dropdown menus and links at the top and bottom. As I mentioned, this occurs in both CS4 and CS5 trial versions of Contribute. When trying File/Edit in external application which is notepad on my system, sometimes the text is formatted and coherant (like when you open View Source in IE8) and other times notepad opens up as all text, no spaces, or formatting of any kind--looks like a garbled mess.
Any help is appreciated.

Content Area API in 9.0.2 (wwsbr_api) is there a workaround?

The end goal is to have a button in a region that takes users to an add item form. I want to have the button right on the page, without having to go to edit mode.
So, looking at the PDK I see wwsbr_api.add_item.

Unfortunately, 9.0.2.2.22 does not support this API. Additionally, this document references a view, WWSBR_ALL_FOLDER_REGIONS, that does not exist in this release of Portal.
Does anyone have a suggestoin for how to do this in 9.0.2?

11g XE is actually based on 11.2.0.2.0. It actually includes some fixes and changes in addition to that patchset.
That means the problem either exists in all post-11.2.0.2 releases or is due to some XE-specific change. If you experience the problem in any post-11.2.0.2 or 12c release, let me know. I can file a bug and have the problem identified and fixed.
With an XE bug, it can't be fixed until Oracle's next XE release, even if we identify it now. That will likely be around a year after Oracle releases DB 12c R2.

About runtime sequence creation and view dare pre commmit.

1)Could Oracle suggest to create sequence(DDL) from run-time.That means I need(My client requirement) regenerate of sequence(I know it is possible by cycle but i don't know MAX value when it will cycle)as monthly or a specific time so I want to drop sequence and create sequence by a)Programmetically runtime
b) Oracle scheduler runtime .
Have any good and better Idea? Any risk factor?
Note that at a time possibly more than 100 users will data entry with our software.
2)My New query is Could I view table data which was not yet COMMITTED from other session-other user.

remember that Rel. 2 compatible sbr apis have not been released yet.
