Documentation for Alerts in System Monitoring (DSWP)

Hello Community!
I am working with SAP Solution Manager for about a week. At the moment i am trying to set up a useful system monitoring with System Monitor.
Because i did not found a helpful documentation yet and i do not want to proceed in trail&error anymore - i want to know, if there is some kind of documentation for each standard alert in system monitoring function of the SolMa? For example "R3SysLog"-Alert complies with the results of  tcode SM21.
Thanks for your answers in advance!

Hi Helge,
Refer to the following thread :

  • Get an E-Mail-Notification if there is a alert for a SAP-System in DSWP

    Hello,
how can i get an E-Mail-Notification when there is a alert in a SAP-System?
I know that alerts are shown in the transaction dswp under System Monitoring but exists a alternative to get these alerts via E-Mail?
In the transaction rz21 autoreactions can be defined for single MTE classes - but i search for a more generally method to get all in DSWP reported alerts via E-Mail.
    Best Regards

    Hello All,
You can get EWA reports thru mail.
Selection the solution for which you want the reports thru mail in DSWP tcode.
Then Edit>Automatic Email transmission>create Email recipeint.
    Hope this solves your query.

  • System monitoring - DSWP and RZ21

    Hi all,
I am using sap solution managers workcenter "System monitoring" to set up the sap monitornig for a huge landscape. This works well, but to receive alerts (e.g. per mail)  I additionaly have to do the settings in RZ21 (assign central autoreactions). This is not very comfortable because each setting has to be done twice (in dwsp and rz21) and there is also the risk to forget something. Do you know any other possibility? Do you know about plans to integrate the functions of RZ21 into DSWP?
    Thanks
    Michael

  • Add new Alerts to system monitoring

    Hi,
My Name is Tomas Piqueres and I'm working with Solution Manager. I'm monitoring one of my systems and I'm setting up some alerts.
The problem is when I'm trying to add some alerts that are outside the last node (the corresponding with the server name).
For example, I want to activate an alert to see the free disk space in database, at satellite system I select the alert and set properties. Here I found the full name of the properties:
    <SID>\Microsoft SQL Server\Space management\DB:PRO\N:/MSSQL/PRODATA1/PRODATA1.mdf\PRODATA1 Free Disk Space
With the full path, I go to my Solution Manager> transaction DSWP>Select my solution>Operation setup>Setup System Monitoring
Here I only can add new User Defined Alerts for my server and my SAP System. If I select User Defined Alerts for my database I get the error No properties can be maintained for the selected node (MTE).
If I try to add an alert for the server, the path for all of the alerts possible is <SID>\<server name>\.....
So I can't add the alert I've got from satellite system.
Is there any way to add more alerts?
    Please, could you help me?
    Thanks and regards,
    Tomas.

    Hi Nesimi,
That was exactly what I did but it didn't work.
I've solved it changing the CCMS context.
    Thanks,
    Tomas.

  • Inactive Alert in System Monitoring

    Hallo all,
we use SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 and implemented CEN to monitor our systems.
    Sometimes there occurs an strange, inactive alert with the description "( . . : : ) ".
Does anybody know the reason for this?
    Thanks for your replys.

    Hi
can you please little bit elabarate your query?
is your alert is active but not accessable??
if yes, the alert is active in Solution Manager but Solution Manager does not find the technical MTE name (Monitor Tree Element) in the satellite system.
this might be communication problems if MTEs are not present in CCMS/RZ20 of the satellite system and are not refreshed.so check the RFC assignment in SMSY, i.e. the READ connection. if you  even want deleting and recreating the RFCs for the satellite (SMSY with button "Generate RFC with Assistant").
Regarding the TRUSTED RFC, please check SAP Note 128447 (check that the authorization object S_RFCACL is assigned to the RFC users.
or else, you might be the resetting of the system monitoring and in this process remove the missing MTEs and settings. Removing the 'monitoring flag' for the corresponding satellite system in the System Monitoring setup session deletes all customizing settings and all user defined alerts. You had to enter your data again, however. To make sure to address possible inconsistencies, the session component can also be re-initialized (open 'Setup System Monitoring'; choose 'Session Components' - 'Re-initialize'; confirm; reselect the system that you want to activate).
and  these alerts should be deactivated (remove the flag in column 'Activate').
    check and update,

  • Competitors for SAP Solution Manager within central system monitoring

    Hello!
We currently use SAP Solution Manager (CCMS monitors from RZ20) for the central system monitoring for several SAP systems.
Are there some other tools/competitors that can also serve as central platform for system monitoring of several SAP systems?
    (e.g. HP OpenView).
    Many thanks!

    Hello,
You may want to take a look into the EarlyWatch Alert report.
It's a weekly report that gives information about many different areas of your systems and helps you to maintain them. It helps to detect problems before they occur by analysing trends on your systems and alerting about it. It definitely may work taking a look into it: service.sap.com/ewa.
It does not have an additional cost, all you need is a solution manager.
    Regards,
    Daniel.

  • Notifications not being generated for alerts generated by rules.

I'm using SCOM 2012 R2 and have configured an alert generating rule to create alerts when specific events occur in a windows event log.
The rule works fine, alerts are generated as expected.
I have also configured subscriptions/subscribers/channels to send notifications via email and SMS (via script in command channel) however even with the criteria set to send on all alerts, I only receive notifications for alerts generated by monitors (so
I know the subs and channels do function)
It seems like some sort of workflow issue where alerts generated by a rule fail to create a notification.
Is there any logging I can enable to see what's happening here?
    Any other ideas?

In System Center 2012 Operations Manager, the alert notification will be sent when the alert first meets all criteria, regardless of resolution state, unless resolution state itself is a criterion. If alert suppression is enabled for the rule or monitor
that raises an alert, only one notification will be sent when the subscription criteria are first met. No additional notifications will be sent until the alert is closed and a new alert is raised that meets all subscription criteria.  PLease check
    1) whether your rule has trun on alert supression
    2) Close the alert, craised by rule,  and do it again

    Hi,
    Q. Is it possible to setup the solution manager -above mentioned tasks without Ides system ?
    A. Yes.
    Check with links for
    1.Early watch alert
This process helps you to identify potential problems early, avoid bottlenecks, and monitor the performance of your ABAP and JAVA systems and your most important business processes, regularly, automatically and effectively. The data collection infrastructure comprises the ABAP Service Data Control Center and the JAVA function module Data Provider. The SAP EarlyWatch Alert in the SAP Solution Manager is a service provided by SAP.
To be able to use it, you have:
maintained the non-ABAP systems correctly in the system landscape maintenance (transaction SMSY)
RFC u2013 Connections between: and an RFC u2013 Connections established.
your satellite systems and the SAP Solution Manager system
SAP Solution Manager and the SAP Service Marketplace
Solution Manager system and Solution Manager Diagnostics
Cf: Solution Manager IMG (transaction SPRO).
checked the availability of the tools required for the SAP Service sessions (add-on ST-A/PI), with the report RTCCTOOL.
activated Alert Monitoring and set-up the Automatic Session Manager (ASM) in the Service Data Control Center (SDCCN) of your satellite systems, for all SAP satellite systems and the central SAP Solution Manager of your solution
set-up your systems in a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager
    configured Solution Manager Diagnostics
    2.System Monitoring
The system monitoring in the SAP Solution Manager is, as described above, like a system-wide central CCMS. It can also contain the central CCMS (CEN) of satellite systems. These CENs can then monitor other components.
The graphical display in the SAP Solution Manager gives you access to the alerts of all systems in a solution. You can go to the local or central CCMS of the satellite systems.
The system proposes the most important alerts in the CCMS monitor collection, according to SAP experience, and their alert thresholds, for each system in the solution, in the system monitoring Session. You can activate or deactivate these alerts. The connection between the local CCMS and the SAP Solution Manager allows you to maintain the alert thresholds directly in the SAP Solution Manager, overwriting the values in the local CCMS.
    3.Central System Administration
You activate the customizing for business processes in your solution, in the Business Process MONITORING session in the SAP Solution Manager. A monitoring tree element (MTE), or a monitor collection, u201EBPMu201C of several monitoring objects, is created in the local or central (CEN) CCMS of the satellite system.
The data is collected for the monitoring types of the business process monitoring in contrast to system monitoring, as follows:
    ● The system collects performance (dialog transactions), posting cancellations (V1 and V2) and u201EOther CCMSu201C and interface data, in the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
    ● The system collects background processing, application list, application monitors, delivery lists, and document size data, in the central SAP Solution Manager CCMS.
The SAP Solution Manager system copies the data from the local CCMS.
The graphical display in the SAP Solution Manager simplifies access to the alerts for the business processes, business process steps or the interfaces between the systems in a solution. You can go to the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
The connection between the local CCMS and the SAP Solution Manager allows you to maintain the alert thresholds directly in the SAP Solution Manager. These overwrite the values in the local CCMS.
    4.Business Process Monitoring
The system and business process monitoring (including interface monitoring) in the SAP Solution Manager, both use the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) (transaction RZ20) architecture. This means that system alerts which occur in the local CCMS, are passed to the SAP Solution Manager via RFC connections between the SAP Solution Manager and the satellites. The system shows these alerts in a graphic or in Sessions. You can also handle the alerts centrally, without having to go to the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
You can see the alerts from several systems in a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager, in a graphical overview, in contrast to the local CCMS of the SAP Solution Manager satellite systems. This is the view of a central CCMS (CEN). You can also monitor non-SAP systems in a central CCMS (CEN) of a satellite system

  • No SID -Database visible under Operations: System Monitoring

    Hi!
I successfully set up the System Monitoring for one satellite system with SAP DB.
I integrated DB via tcode SM59 and created the alert monitor.
After this I created the User Defined alerts in System Monitoring Setup.
The prooblem now is I cannot see the appropriate component <SID>-Database under Operations: System Monitoring.
Has some one experience dealing with this problem?
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Thom

    Hello Thom,
did have a look at SAP Note 1038134?
If you are using Solution Mnager roles for System Monitoring the authorization check has changed and you need to maintain authorization object S_SOLM_ACT.

  • Solman Setup system Monitoring alert threshold value for Filesystem issue

    Hi,
Our solman system is SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 sp level 0024.
We have setup the alerts System Monitoring alerts from DSWP in solman system for our target production system .
But while assigning individual threshold values of filesystem freespace in MB for windows operating system disks C:,D:..all the values are getting changed after saving  to same value.(i.e if I update C:\ disk value and click on save rest of disks are also getting updated to this value).
The same works fine for filessytems if target system OS is unix.
I have tried the examples suggested in note:522453 but it nothing changed. Please suggest.

    Hi Sonal
when you want to save the thresholds for only the one MTE you set
    you need to click on

  • Solution Manager Setup System Monitoring DB Administrating Alerts

    HI
1.Do i need to configure the CCMS_OnAlert_Email, for every alert that you have, in the satellite system?
Best thing I would say is to copy method ( RZ21 --> Method --> Method definition )CCMS_OnAlert_Email to Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email in Solman and assign this auto reaction to  MTE class of satellite systems.
    2. How do i configure this out of solution manager, and bypassing the satellite system?
You have to install/configure sapccm4x( for monitoring abap ) on satellite systems by giving details about Solution manager. Then the alert will be sent to Solution manager from satellite system and the configured auto reaction will send mails .

  • System monitoring - alert email notification

    Hello Sapers,
I already set up system monitoring in our Solution Manager but i would like to receive mail if any alert occur.  Unfortunatelly I did not find any way how to do it through Solution Manager. I guess there must be something like edit -> Automatic email transmission where I set up sending Earlywatch and SL reports to my mailbox, but how to set up alert email notification?
I also tried another way - setting up CEN (in our sollution manager) in RZ20, there i created monitor where i have desired alerts from all remote systems configured in SMSY (i have not used sapccm4x or any other ccms agent), also tried autoreaction method on local and it is working fine (SCOT is set up) but when i tried create and assign central autoreaction method (sapnote 429265) during assigning i receive error "no ccms agent avalable for system" and it is not working. Do I really need configure SAPCCM4X on all remote systems when i want to use central autoreaction? I dont feel very confortable with this solution. I think there must be some other smarter way (maybe in solution manager).
We also tried to connect our RZ20 monitor set to nagios (used in our company to monitor non sap servers and email notification), but we are not able to compile the ccms nagios plugin uder 64bit. AIX 5.3.
I also heard little bit about ALM (Alert management) but dont know anything about forwarding alerts from RZ20 to ALM and transmitting email from there. But I think this sollution would be the most difficult from all mentioned above.
Thank you very much for any help

    Josef,
Somewhat chasing the point here - when you have the Solman and you look in your CCMS and you can see the other systems - it is all RFC data and not actually on the Solution Manager (the only local MTE's are those tha belong to the Solution Manager).  For the Solution Manager to Centrally Auto-React to threasholds (act as the CEN System), the information needs to be passed to the Central System through the agents.
If you want to do email threasholds on your remote systems, you can configure it on each of the systems individually without agents as this is a CCMS Function that any SAP System can do - but this is not Central Auto-Reaction.  This is just actions taken on individual systems based on local MTE's.
To Centrally Auto-React - you have to add the agents so the information is passed to the CEN to react on.
I hope that this has clarified the situation a bit more.  If this answers your question, please set this thread to answered.

  • Monitoring/Alerting Set up options in SM - System Monitoring

    Comrades
When configuring Solution monitoring in SM 4.0 for our lanscape the customised CCMS monitor set (created in RZ20 of Target Sysem) needs to be imported during set-up system monitoring process
1.Is it possible to import the customised CCMS context in solution monitoring during set up?
2.In the current system monitoring configuration certain DB related monitors are not visible (displayed) though they are configured properly is something to be done ?
Also looking on the following alerting options E-mail,SMS and SNMP Traps from the SM 4.0.My understanding is E-mail and SMS are based on Central autoreaction methods on the Alert Monitor.
3.Is it possible to configure E-mail and SMS without CCMS Agents on Target Systems ? and Is there a way of configuring  E-mail and SMS other than Central Auto Reaction Methods ?
4.Are there any prerequistes (Agents, Software, packages ) for configuring SNMP Traps from SM ?
I have done some reading and searching on these points and pretty unclear on these aspects.Kindly share your knowledge on this area.
    Kindly Respond
    Many a Thanks

I managed to set up an account manually on the C7 but I had to trick the email application by entering an invalid email address and password. After it could not find my account it then opened up all the settings and permitted me to add the manual IMAP settings, reply to address and other details. After I committed the settings, the phone recognised the account as a gmail account and it locked down all the settings again so I could not go back and change them if wrong.
I was quite chuffed with myself for seemingly resolving all my issues.....but on using the new account settings I could not sync the gmail sent / bin folders. All the other folders synchronised fine and when I send email it has the correct reply to address. Strangely this matches the best results I obtained when connecting using the Mail for Exchange settings so am no further forward. I am a little confused by this as when I let the phone set up the Gmail account on it's own it can sync everything.....but I just can't
I am now hoping that the new software update (PR1.2) gets email working a little better....well when I eventually get it hehe.
