Documentation in Solman
Hi Folks,
Can solman automatically create configuration document for the server where new implementation is carried on? I know how to create implementation project in solman and maintaining already created document in it. But can it be done automatically?
Can solman capture al the configuration? How can we make use of solman in new implementation project? I have configured service desk and Charm successfully.
Points would be rewarded.
Regards,
Nikhil
Hi Nikhil,
To the best of my knowledge, the answer is no. SolMan cannot automatically generate a document.
Following would be my suggestion:
(1) In SOLAR02, Config Tab, get your team members to list the IMG object references against relevant process steps or at Cross-Scenario Configuration folder level
(2) Generate Config Guide which would at least let you know what is in scope even if not provide you with what was configured.

Documentation in SolMan of Non SAP Implementation.
Hi experts,
Is it possible to maintain documentation, blueprints, etc. for an implementation of a NON SAP system (CC&B of Oracle)?
If possible, what would be the correct scenario of SolMan?
Best Regards,Hi Gustavo,
In my view, the right transactions to hold documents for Non-SAP systems are SOLAR01 & SOLAR02 or the Solution Landscape.
The questions you would have to answer yourself are:
(1) Are these Non-SAP systems part of the 'overll' solution landscape in terms of interacting with SAP in one way or ther other OR are these meant to carry out certain Business Processes that are totally standalone and have no 'interface' or cross-dependency on SAP
- If these Non-SAP systems actively interact with SAP, you may be better off getting the structure definition as well as documentation in the same Project
- If some elements interact and most others are standalone, you may like to have a different Project to manage those standalone elements
(2) Do you plan to undertake any 'Project' that may end up using these Non-SAP system documentation OR is it primarily for the support team that manages an existing infrastructure, to have access to these documents from one place ?
- If no projects are foreseen taking shape, you may be better off defining the structure as Business Scenarios or Interface Scenarios in Solution Landscape as opposed to Project side
Please feel free to ask any further queries.
Best regards,

Business Process Documentation
Dear All
Business Process Documentation
I just want to know foloowing thing sabout Business Process Documentation.
do yuo know where there any documents about Business Process Documentation and system log ?
Edited by: Koji Watanabe on Feb 16, 2012 1:52 AMHellow Watanabe-san
Could you explain little bit mroe about what you are looking
for ?
Are you looking for the way to document Business Process in SolMan ?
Or
Are you looking for the way to monitor your business process in
the backedn system ?
The link that vasanthgobi mentioned is the SAP help on business
process monitoring.
Documentation topic
In SAP Solman, you can document your business process in following
2 area. Project area and Solution area. Project area is mainly used
for implementation phase or initial documentation. Solution area is
used for operation phase.
And to support the documentation, SAP Solman provides several
supporting tools for project area (you can copy the document in
project area to solution later).
In SolMan 7.1, if you want to document your business process,
you may have following possibility.
(General motivation for the documentation, please refer to the
this blog http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/27054.
And service Market Place
http://service.sap.com/esacademy (login in english)
=>meet the expert =>Replay Library.
=>SAP Solution manager =>Solution Documentation )
1.Upload via EXCEL (initial upload) and adjust in project area
<Create templete via project, and create excel content locally
and upload to project area>
2.Maintain business process by using Business Blue print function
<Using more graphical instead of SolMan screen>
Also refer to these blogs
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/28304
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/27212
And service market place link (webinar)
http://service.sap.com/esacademy (login in english)
=>meet the expert =>Replay Library.
=>SAP Solution manager =>Business Process Blueprint
3.Start initial documentation using RBPD content and adjust it in
project area
<SAP and IBIS develop analysis content based on the business
process repository. By using this content, you can execute
analysis for ERP and can get process utilization info.
And you can create initial process from this>.
Also refer to these blogs
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/26074
And service market place link
http://service.sap.com/rbpd
4.Document manually in project area
(Also ARIS integration is possible).
In above case, if you use RBPD content, yes, you have some step
related to the backend system (collecting process execution statistic
in ERP). But in other case, you do not have any activity to ERP.
For RBPD, it collects the data by using job, and you can control
the number of WP to be used. The runtime will be depending your
ERP system size.
Business Process Monitoring topic
In SolMan, there are business process monitoring functionality.
Actually, it is not only the monitoring, but also you can use it
for business process improvement.
Basically in business process monitoring related tools,
there are 2 main tools
1.Business Process Monitoring tool - Monitoring
2.Business Process Analytics tool - Analysis & benchmarking
(Also there are dashboard).
Business Process Monitorings enables monitoring of your core
business process from technical and application side.
The tool can monitor specific job(normal job/BW process chain),
interface(IDoc, tRFC, qRFC etc), performance, and also different
types of transaction document like sales order, delivery,
purchase order, production ordet etc.
For transaction monitoring, there are pre-defined template
(best practice).
Also it allows to monitor any table (z/y-table also).
And the Analytics tool is the tool based on the BW.
By using this, you can do benchamarking, trend analysis,
backlog analysis.
In more, I highly recommend to check the series of blog
by Volker. And FAQ document.
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/u/251688346
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/FAQBusinessProcess+Monitoring
There are configuration document in service market place also.

Hope this helps you.

Solman Implementation - writing a tender
Hi,
Currently I am working on upgrade 4.6c to ECC 6.0. We should start using solman in near future, and
for this reason I should write tender documentation for solman implementation in our company.
How to start writing this, and what critical points to mantion in tender?? It is tender for full solman implementation. maybe something like this:
chapter 1. Description of our landscape?
chapter 2. What functionalities we want from solman? etc.
Please give me some help on how to start, or post some example of tender documentation
on sap solman implementation.
Thanks a lot
NihadHi,
Please can you help me with writing solman implementation specification?
Do you have any documents regarding solman implementation steps?
What would you write in documentation if you would like to have solman functions implemented
on your system? Is it necessary to describe landscape, to write exactly what you want from solman
etc...
Thanks

How to restrict the user to change the project structure but not the documents?
Hi,
I have created one project assigning different users in Solution manger. I want to risitrict some of the users to change the project structure but simultaneously allwoing the project documents to be created, edited or deleted using solar01 under Project documentation tab. For that I have followed the steps provided in the follwoing link.
http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/Howto+Restrict+Changes+to+Project+Nodes+to+Assigned+Team+Members
I am able to restrict the users to change the project structure, but I am not able to allow access to the project documents. It gives me the message "You are not authorised to change the project". This fulfills my one of the requirements. But, Is there any way to restrict the user to change the project structure but not the documents?. Any help will be apperitiated.
Thanks,
Rutvik Uapdhyay.Hi Rutvik,
Basically there are 2 different authorization role ...you should look for and customize as per requirement in Z* namespace.
role - SAP_SOLAR01_ALL
this take care of objects in Solar01 like tab access etc
role -SAP_SOL_KW_ALL
this takes care of entire documentation within solman
hope this helps

PI Monitoring dashboard in SOLAMN 7.0 EHP1
The functionality of reviewing your PI components through Solution manager is
mentioned in many presentation of SOLMAN configuration and in sap.help.
However it is only documented in SOLMAN 7.1 documents.
Are you familair with PI Monitoring as part of Solution manager configuration using transaction SOLMAN_SETUP
for ver. 7.01 SP 26 ?Hello,
The PI dashboards are available only in Solution Manager 7.1
For EHP1 you have the regular monitoring tools: Wily Introscope and the E2E Workload Analysis.

Downtime Management - planned outage entry for a past date?
Using downtime management with success, however I forgot to enter a 'planned downtime' for some ad-hoc maintenance work a couple of weeks back. I now have a large outage spike appearing in my system availability reports (CCMSBISUITE) when I know it was a bit of planned outage work so should really be discounted. I have recurring a downtime window for our standard outage day, but this planned work happened outside of that window.
Is it somehow possible to create a 'planned downtime' event for a past date, which will 'smooth' out the outage spike appearing in the BI reports? I'm getting 'invalid date' entries when trying to do so with Downtime Manager, but though someone might know how to do this if it's possible.
Thanks
DanielI think you are out of luck on this one. However it would not be too hard to develop your own report for creating a retroactive downtime. We have done some analysis of the code for making our own enhancements to DTM and you will find CL_DSWP_DTM_MANAGER to be a good starting point if you have an ABAPer.
But I wouldn't invest too much in any custom solution, as DTM will be completely replaced in SolMan 7.1 (see note 1517275 and the help at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm71_sp01/helpdata/en/bf/5a62721652477592bf3441cc5ab6ec/frameset.htm); the new feature seems like it will be much more general (an overall IT Calendar) but will actually remove some features in a step backwards (for example you will have to find somewhere else to document system crashes and other unplanned outages...). If we get into the ramp-up I will report back to this thread on the specifics of retroactive downtime documentation in SolMan 7.1 if I find anything interesting. -
Possible to run 2 Solution Managers
We have Solman 3.2 and want to move to 4.0. Is it possible to have 2 solution managers in one landscape at a time?
The existing 3.2 system is not in good shape and not much works, so I am not keen to upgrade it. Installing a new system and configuring it will hopefully be faster than fixing everything that's wrong with 3.2 (essentially reconfiguring it from scratch), upgrading Oracle & checking the configuration again.
I'm thinking of installing Solman 4.0, setting it up, then turning off Solman 3.2 when it's ready. The documentation for 3.2 is quite limited and poor.
The environment is currently Solaris with Oracle 9 for Solman. The systems in the landscape are R/3 (ECC6), BW 3.5, CRM (ECC6) & portal. I have limited experience at upgrading systems.
Suggestiong regarding this situation greatfully accepted.
Cheers!Hello Philip,
a complete answer to your question is only possible if you tell me about the scenarios you are using. For the beginning I assume that you are using primarily the SolMan for Operations part, where you have to get data from satellite systems into the SolMan for EWAs.
In your current landscape the satellite systems are delivering data into the SolMan. If you set up this process using transaction SDCCN, the satellite systems can deliver their data into several SolMans. If you are using still SDCC I am not sure if this is possible. Anyway I suggest to use SDCCN, because this "new" transaction has much more and nice features.
A lot of the other scenarios (e.g. implementation) use the SolMan as base of their functionalities so that the SolMan has to connect to the satellite systems. In these cases your plan has no impact at your running landscape and is ok. But other ones (e.g. Service Desk or using the SolMan as Central Monitoring system) need additional configuration at the satellite systems. And there it depends from the scenario if you can use two SolMans in your landscape or only one.
Hope it helps, Alexander.
PS: I wouldn't also describe the documentation of SolMan 4.0 as "ufficient" 8-). -
SAP HP Adapter don't synchronize business requirement and test requirements
Hello,
I need a help.
We have a customized project of HPQC here and we need to replicate the business blueprint from Solman to HPQC requeriments module.
We perform the step-by-step of the HP SAP Adapter installation guide and the connection was performed succesfully.
I can synchronize the business blueprint with the requirements of HPQC - in other hand, the interface only creates the folders of blueprint nodes on HPQC and don't creates the business requeriment(documentation on SOLMAN) neither the test requirement (transactions code on SOLMAN). Please look at the picture below:
Can you help me with this issue guys?
Our HPQC version is 10.0 and the SOLMAN version is 7.1
Tks a lot!Hi Jose,
You need to maintain the Test Objects, Requirements at the Business Process Level in SOLAR02 inorder to have a structured blueprint representation at HPQC side.

Auto-ID 7.1 ITS Mobile UI Configuration
Whenever I try to login to the Auto-ID ITS Mobile UI (/AIN/UIMOBURL), it causes a dump stating that
Template "ain_mobile\99\include/cuaarea.html" contains syntax errors and
therefore could not be compiled.
Cause of error:Include "include/mesgs" not available.
The syntax error is in row: 25, column: 85
The incorrect HTMLB line is:
"`include(~service="itsmobile", ~language="", ~theme="99",
~name="include/mesgs.html")`"
I am thinking we have not completed a required configuration step, but I have been unable to locate the latest config guides for Auto-ID 7.1 via Solution Manager to verify.
The only documentation I've been able to find irt the ITS Mobile config in Auto-ID 7.1 is http://help.sap.com/saphelp_aii710/helpdata/en/42/efa79253491a71e10000000a422035/content.htm, but it basically says to refer to the configuration documentation in SolMan.
If anyone can advise where I should look within SolMan, I'd be most thankful.
Update:
I've verified that the Internet Service AIN_MOBILE is Published as a Complete Service via SE80.
I've created a service via ICF under /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/ain_mobile and configured CL_HTTP_EXT_ITS as the Handler
When I go to SE80 and test using Execute Service it loads http://<default_host>:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/ain_mobile, but it says Communication failure. If I setup ain_mobile as an internal alias referencing /sap/scm/ain_mobile then the abap dump occurs.
JT
Edited by: James Tucker on Oct 4, 2011 1:02 AMI had the same problem. The reason was that within internet service ITSMOBILE the include MESGS was by default only saved, but not published internally.
Solution:
Call SE80 with Internet Service ITSMOBILE
Navigate to "Topic 99" -> "HTML Templates" -> "INCLUDE"
Right-Click on "MESGS" and publish
(or publish the complete service) -
