Documentation of Configuration Parameters

Just upgrading to ASE 15.7 from 15.5 and looking at the the configuration parameters.
Anyone have any good documents for these configuration parameters - the online documentation isn't very good.
aggresive task stealing - aggressive task stealing sets the SAP ASE scheduler task stealing policy to aggressive.
auto query tuning - not in the manual
enable plan sharing - enable plan sharing enables or disables SAP ASE to use shared query plans.
( I can guess what it does - any reason not to enable it ?)
enable plan sharing - enable plan sharing enables or disables SAP ASE to use shared query plans.
enforce dump configuration - not in the manual
engine local cache percent - not in the manual
optimise dump for faster load - not in the manual
streamlined dynamic SQL - streamlined dynamic SQL enables the statement cache to store dynamic SQL statements
(I can guess what it does - any reason not to enable it?)

Dump configuration is described in SAP Note 1588316
Also have a look at procedure sp_config_dump in Sybooks ASE 16
Unfortunately not much info what's actually enforced with parameter
enforce dump configuration

  • How to configure some of VMX file configurations / VM Configuration Parameters via vCloudDirector REST API

    Hi
We need to configure some settings for VM using vCloudDirector REST API other wise which can be down in 2 following ways.
    1. On VCenter -> select VM  ( in Power Off Mode ) -> Edit Settings -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Configuration Parameters
Add row with values like below
               ethernet0.ctxPerDev = 1
    2. -OR- directly login to Esxi Shell .. Open VMX file ( of the VM  - which can be located in /etc/vmware/hostd/vmInventory.xml ) and  add entries manually.
          Follow this KB http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1714
          for editing VMX file.
We would like to know how this can be achieved using vCloud Director REST. We are using 5.5 versions for both VCD and VCenter.
    Thanks for help.
    Regards,
    Murali G D

This level of modification is not available via vCloud Director's API afaik.  A similar question came up recently about modifying the amount of Video Memory on a VM, which you have to create some sort of custom workflow directly to vCenter/ESXi about.

  • JSF 1.2 web.xml configuration parameters

Actually, I know these JSF 1.2 web.xml configuration parameters:
    javax.faces.CONFIG_FILES
    javax.faces.DEFAULT_SUFFIX
    javax.faces.LIFECYCLE_ID
    javax.faces.STATE_SAVING_METHOD
    Are there any more available?
(I have to study its performance implications in conjunction with RichFaces ones).

The JSF 1.2 specification document would contain the information you're looking for.

  • Syntax error in profile relation while retreiving configuration parameters

Trying to get our Directory Services properly functioning after an IP change. Running
    # kadmin.local -q listprincs
yesterday revealed that all service principals weren't set up properly. Dig dig dig... found that I might (since this server was originally 10.3--now it's 10.4.4) try
    # slapconfig -kerberize diradmin
That pointed me in the direction of using Workgroup Manager to fix a couple things with the KerberosClient record for the server. Did that. Reran the command. It complained about an improperly formatted configuration file because it wiped the contents of edu.mit.Kerberos (took out the DNS bits). Then ran
    # kerberosautoconfig -u
    which resulted in
    MergeLoggingInfo: creating default logging info
At this point, edu.mit.Kerberos looked good. Then I tried
    # /usr/sbin/kdcsetup -f /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 -w -a diradmin -p ** -v 1 REALM
    which resulted in
    Contacting the Directory Server
    Authenticating to the Directory Server
    Creating Kerberos directory
    Creating KDC Config File
    Creating Admin ACL File
    Creating Kerberos Master Key
    Creating Kerberos Database
Syntax error in profile relation while retreiving configuration parameters
    SendInteractiveCommand: failed to get pattern
    Creating Kerberos Admin user
kadmin.local: Syntax error in profile relation while initializing kadmin.local interface
Adding kerberos auth authority to admin user
Creating keytab for the admin tools
kadmin.local: Syntax error in profile relation while initializing kadmin.local interface
Adding KDC & kadmind to launchd
Adding the new KDC into the KerberosClient config record
    edu.mit.kadmind: Already loaded
    com.apple.kdcmond: Already loaded
    Finished
    Now when I try
    # kadmin.local -q listprincs
    I get
Authenticating as principal root/admin@REALM with password.
kadmin.local: Syntax error in profile relation while initializing kadmin.local interface
And now I'm getting this in kdc.log
    Feb 07 09:41:26 od.master.fqdn krb5kdc[21234](info): AS_REQ (7 etypes {18 17 16 23 1 3 2}) xx.xx.xx.xx: LOOKINGUPCLIENT: diradmin@REALM for krbtgt/REALM@REALM, Database is locked or in use--try again later
Feb 07 09:41:26 od.master.fqdn krb5kdc[21234](info): DISPATCH: repeated (retransmitted?) request from xx.xx.xx.xx, resending previous response
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Rich
ps. The typo in the error message is MIT's, not mine. I guess their engineering departments are better than their English department.
    Xserve G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Look at the two config files:
    /Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos
    /var/db/krb5kdc/kdc.log
the Database is locked or in use message is due to a missing lock file.
    Look in /var/db/krb5kdc/ for principal.kadm5.lock
    Hope this gets you started

  • Report program to find the configuration parameters of the system?

    Hi,
Is there any standard program in SAP to find out the configuration parameters or the configuration settings of the system and any program to find the configuration settings across systems?
    thanks & regards,
    siddhartha.
P.S : Points will be rewarded.

Can you concretize your question ? For what purposes ? The "system" is the front-end or server where sap are installed? Chek the RZ20 and ST06. Regards.

  • Documenting GTS Configuration

    GTS Experts,
What is the best practice for documenting the configuration settings in GTS?  Are there system reports available to control and report  this, or is it expected that this information is kept manually in spreadsheets?
Also, what is best practice for system instance cutover, to ensure anyting not on a transport is put in the new system the same as the previous systm.  Is there a compare functionality to identify deltas between the instances that need to be addressed?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
as far as i know there is not such report which would download all customizing settings/views into the excel file. Actually, that would be a quite useful mass function.
For your second question, check transactions SCU0 and SCMP. Here you can compare settings between systems connected via RFC.
    http://www.sap-img.com/bc005.htm
@Your RFC user would need S_TABU_RFC autorization.
    BR,
    Gabriel.

  • Showing RMAN configuration parameters 8.1.7

    Hi group
What is the RMAN command in 8.1.7 to show RMAN configuration parameters, I know (SHOW ALL;) command is used in 9i version but it doesn't work on 8.1.7.
    Thanks you very much

If I remember correctly, you could NOT configure and preserve parameters in 8.1.7 (so CONFIGURE and SHOW are not present in 8.1.7 RMAN).
You could create scripts with all the required commands and save them to the OS or to the Catalog -- preferably at the OS level so that they can be viewed and edited if the Catalog becomes unavailable.

  • A self documenting DSC Configuration wich contains all Resources

One funny thing with PowerShell is allways: It can document himself.
Inspired by Steven Murawskis video on Desired State Configuration (DSC) I have done a full Blowen full self documenting DSC Configuration:
Not perfect but it works for the first shot...
    This code:
    $ConfigOut = @"
    Configuration Name {
    param(
    [String]`$Parameter1
    # One can evaluate expression
    # E.g.: `$AllNodes.Where("Role -eq Web").NodeName
    Node ('Node1','Node2','Node3') {
    $(
    Get-DscResource | ForEach {
    "`n`t`t# Call the '$($_.Name)' Resource the Provider`n"
    "`t`t$($_.Name) FriendlyName {`n`n"
    "`t`t`t# Possible Resource Options`n"
    $Ofs = "','"
    $_.Properties | ForEach {
    "`t`t`t$($_.Name) = '$($_.Values)' # Type:$($_.PropertyType) $(If($_.IsMandatory) {'is Mandatory!'})`n"
    $Ofs = ' '
    "`t`t}`n"
    } # end Node
    } # end Configuration
    $ConfigOut
Produces this output on my Windows 8.1:

    제품 : RMAN

NEW 9I RMAN: PERSISTENT CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS - INTRODUCTION
    ===============================================================
    SHOW show_operand [,show_operand ...];
    show_operand: RETENTION POLICY |
    EXCLUDE |
    BACKUP COPIES |
    CHANNEL |
    DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE |
    DEVICE TYPE |
    SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE |
    ALL
'show all' 명령어로 현재의 모든 세팅을 확인 한다.
    RMAN> show all;
using target database controlfile instead of recovery catalog
    RMAN configuration parameters are:
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 1; # default
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF; # default
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP OFF; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F'; # default
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1; # default
CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO '/beta/app/oracle/product/9.0.1/dbs/snapc
    f_V901.f'; # default
이렇게 Persistent Configuration Parameters 를 세팅하기 위해서는 스크립트를 만들어
    수행 하는 것이 좋다:
    run {
    # Use the configure commands to create your backup policy.
    # When complete these will be the new persistent
    # configuration parameters for RMAN in the controlfile
    # of the target datbase.
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 3;

  • The configuration parameters of 'BAPI_CUSTOMERCONTRACT_CHANGE'

    Hi experts,
I want to use 'BAPI_CUSTOMERCONTRACT_CHANGE' to delete item 000020 in contract 12345678.But alway failed. Please reference below data.
    Contract : 12345678
    Item        Material     High level Item
    000010    HA001
    000020    HA002       000010
I guess it's the configuration problem. But I don't know how to maintain related configuration parameters in 'BAPI_CUSTOMERCONTRACT_CHANGE'.So who can give me some similar sample or help? Many thanks.
    Thanks & Regards

Using this method, you can change or delete contracts.
You can change header data, item data, schedule line data, contract data and configuration data.
    In general the following applies:
    1. Only enter fields that you want to change.
    2. Mark the fields you want to change with an X.
    3. Fill in the UPDATEFLAG field with a U.
    4. Always enter the key fields when making changes, including in the checkbox list.
    5. An exception is configuration. If you change this, you must fill it in completely.
    6. Enter quantities and dates under schedule line data.
    7. Possible update flags: U = change
                            D = delete
                            I = insert
    Example
    1. Delete complete contract
    2. Delete contract item
    3. Changes to contract
    4. Change configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entries required:
You MUST enter the contract number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
You must always enter key fields when you make a change.
You must always enter the update indicator in the INQUIRY_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commitment control
The BAPI does not carry out a database commit. This means that the calling application must leave the commit in order to have changes made to the database. BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT is available for this purpose.

  • Change hardcodes for "configuration parameters"

    Hi all,
my app WD has some hardcodes (i.e: GP process ID, URLs etc) and i would like to convert these ones in a some "configuration parameters" to make the code more flexible. Is it possible? if yes, please, give me an example how to do that!
    Thanks all,
    Doug

you can put them on configuration or properties file, as set of key-value, and maintain that configuration file from visual administrator
    check [Configuration Service|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b8/aa343e32ff1033e10000000a114084/frameset.htm] on help:

  • VLD-1124: Schema and/or Database link physical configuration parameters

    Hi!
    The warning message:
VLD-1124: Schema and/or Database link physical configuration parameters should not be set for Table1.
Is it possible to eliminate this warning message ? Anyway , Thanks for your response!
    Bye!

    Hi guys,
I am facing a strange problem. The code generated for my mapping has NOT used the dblinks. My OWB version is 10.1.0.4
This is my problem in brief.
I have installed OWB newly and started to do a sample task. I created a very simple one to one table population mapping from source to the target schema. Both are in the same database.
When i generated the code for the mapping, it gave a warning 'VLD-2771: System privileges may not allow extraction from source EMP'.
When i checked the code which was generated, i couldnot see any dblinks associated with my source table( which seems strange)
    CURSOR "INGRP_c" IS
    SELECT
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."EMPNO" "EMPNO",
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."ENAME" "ENAME",
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."JOB" "JOB",
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."MGR" "MGR",
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."HIREDATE" "HIREDATE",
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."SAL" "SAL",
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."COMM" "COMM",
    "DEPT_SRC_TRG_CONN"."DEPTNO" "DEPTNO_1",
    "DEPT_SRC_TRG_CONN"."DNAME" "DNAME",
    "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN"."DEPTNO" "DEPTNO",
    "DEPT_SRC_TRG_CONN"."LOC" "LOC"
    FROM "SCOTT"."EMP" "EMP_SRC_TRG_CONN" ;
In brief this is the process i have done.
    Source schema : SCOTT & Target schema : TRG_SCHEMA
    1) I have created source (for SCOTT) and target(for TRG_SCHEMA) modules.
    2) I have also created DBLinks, Locations and Connector from source to the target locations.
    3) I registered both the source location and target locations.
    4) Validated, Generated and Deployed the Connector from source to the target.
I was unable to trace the error. Did i miss anything in the configuration? or during the installation of OWB.
Though it is a very old post, i hope someone can help me out here.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sri
