Documentation on %metadata

Hi,
I'm looking for documentation on %metadata API.
PS Internally uses it as part of various App Packages including Upgrades especially for IB.
Would really appreciate if someone can share information on that.

Hi PSFT_PP,
I feel this is by far the best PS API till date.
Infact we already have a custom solution in place which uses this API to create Projects in AD (Custom Objects only) and then using a Batch Script carries out the Pre-Compare, migrates the Project , generates the Build/Alter scripts and then does a Post compare.
We've seen a gr8 reduction in migration issues using this customo solution.
PS - You can't help it , if the developer has missed out the naming convention.
We pick objects based on the Lastupddttm, User ID and Naming convention ...

Within Bridge you can select a batch of images and convert them to a Photoshop Web Photo Gallery.
You can customize the page templates that Photoshop uses. I've not seen any documentation for metadata but some of the templates display caption, copyright, etc. Try searching or asking on the Photoshop forum.

Metadata Reporting in Warehouse Builder 10.2

Hi,
I am new to Warehouse Builder.
I am looking for "How to" kind of documentation regarding Metadata Reporting in Warehouse builder version 10.2.
I need to document the metadata.
In Warehouse Builder version 9 I found this link:

Hi Peter,
After starting the installer it fails on the operating system version, apparently no support voor 2008R2.Maybe try to installation with option "-ignoreSysPrereqs"...
I tested OWB 10.2 on Windows7 64bit but cannot confirm that it also will work on 2008R2.
And if not, how tricky is it to upgrade to OWB 11.2, supposing that is certified.Steps to migrate from OWB 10.2 to 11.2 described in OWB installation guide:

Metadata - show properties when display of the file in the folder

Hi
We just setup KM and now I am searching the possibilities to shown the properties of a file such as size, modified by, modified at , etc
This are the standard properties. But I would like to shown custom properties for example For_Period and In_Period.
Reading the documentation of metadata / properties / layout set I thought that I can creatie 2 custom properties which will also be displayed besides size / modified by.
But the test doesn't give any result.
Has I understand wrong the documentation ? Or is it possible to display custom properties ?
If yes, can you explain me how ?

MetaData Navigator hidding Global Variables

Hello,
In ODI we have several Interfaces that executes MaxL scripts. In these scripts
we need to have a Username Password and thanks to John's help these are now
encrypted. Since we have a bunch of them we created a Global variable with
the Key, Username, Password to be able to easily maintain this.
We are using Oracle MetaData Navigator to execute these using a web browser
which gives use the opportunity to have a Fiscal Year Global variable
and easily change the fiscal year on the fly. Really cool!
Questions:
Since I'm using Global variables for my Key, Username and Password is there
a way to NOT Display these in MetaData Navigator? Since they are Global Variables
they show up in the MetaData Navigator... Which is not what I want... Since
these appear it's almost the same as having them in clear text right?
Any ideas / suggestion where I can have my Key, Username and Password in a
variable without having it show up in MetaData Navigator?
Also can I use the same Fiscal Year Parameter using ODI Operator? Like in the
MetaData Navigator? I've never seen anything about this.
One last thing, where can I find documentation on MetaData Navigator?

Hi,
Here is the thread where John explains how to encrypt username passwords. We are using this now and it works
great so now our username passwords are not in plain text. But since we have so many places using these we decided
to put them in a global variable so when it changes we only need to updated in one place.
Re: Encrypt the Password so that it's not in plain text in a OdiOSCommand.
Since we are using Oracle MetaData Navigator to execute these the global variable show up on the MetaData Navigator web page...
It's no big deal and we will live with this but if I could hide these on the MetaData Navigator then that would be
great.

Is metadata navigator available in SunopsisV3, if so give me the URL?

So I'm now in ODI and moreover I'm in a client office and that's not where I'have installed Metadata but if I remeber well, You don't have to register another Licence cause the modules right are in the same licence than Sunopsis.

Deploying Metadata Navigator
Note: To deploy Metadata Navigator, refer to the documentation of your application server to find the recommended method for deploying a web application from a web application resource (WAR) file or from a set of JSP pages.
To install Metadata Navigator:
1. Insert the Oracle Data Integrator CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
2. To install Metadata Navigator, you may either:
* Use the web application deployment feature of the application server with the oracledimn.war file located in the /setup/manual/ directory on the CD. This solution is recommended for OC4J (Use the Deploy button in the Applications tab).
* if the application server allows it, copy the /oracledimn directory from the CD to the application server's web applications directory (Webapps for Tomcat).
3. Restart the web server hosting the application.
Install the JDBC driver
Metadata Navigator uses the JDBC connectivity to access the database server hosting the Repository to explore. It is necessary to configure the JDBC connectivity on the machine where Metadata Navigator is installed.
The Java classes of the JDBC driver must be copied in the /WEB-INF/lib sub-directory of the Metadata Navigator installation folder, and must have the .jar extension. Rename the file extension to .jar if necessary (e.g., from .zip to .jar). Refer to the installation documentation for the JDBC driver provided with your database for more information.
Configure Metadata Navigator Connections
Metadata Navigator is installed with default connections. It is necessary to configure the connections to your repositories in the web application.
To configure Metadata Navigator connections:
1. Configure the connection to the work repository in Designer.
2. Go to your Oracle Data Integrator installation folder's /bin sub-directory.
3. Copy the snps_login_work.xml file from this directory into /WEB_INF sub-directory of the Metadata Navigator deployment folder's.

For the URL all depend on the web server.
But by editing all the application on it you could retrieve Metadata Navigator.

Flash "Collection Item" metadata tag?

Hi!
While creating Flash components I am using metadata tags Inspectable and Collection. This two allow me to do everything I need, in most cases. But in Flash IDE using Component Definition panel you can define much more:
For me "Collection Item" support is much preferrable than [Inspectable(type="Object"...)], because white editing Collection I can specify enumerations and Booleans -- with Objects only text fields allowed. How can I specify it in my code? Is there any documentation about additional metadata tags supported in Flash IDE?

Where do you see the metadata tag injectors? That is not a documented Flex Metadata tag that I have heard of.
A lot of frameworks create their own and you should be able to use that in both Flex and Flash Pro [assuming an AS3 framework].

Custom data type (pick list like) in UCM

Hi,
We have requirement from customer to add a pick list on UCM profile page for a perticular metadata.
Example, if i have metadata called "branches" i should be able to select multiple values from pick list (mumbai, pune, bangalore, hyderabad, chennai etc) and assign selected city names to metadata.
Is there any way of doing this in UCM? Please advise,

Webcenter List - Custom data type

Can i have a custom webcenter list data type. Ex: i see plain text, number, boolean...., now can i have a dropdown datatype...?

How to include BC documentation in the metadata repository

Hi experts,
Currently, my bw 3.5 system doesn't display the business content documentation in the metadata repository, the one available in the help.sap.com sitie.
In the sap documentation is stated:
"To include SAP Content documentation in the online documentation generated for metadata objects, it must be installed in plain html http format for static help and using a Web server. The Content documentation can then be read by the Web server from any front end platform using the http protocol, and displayed in a Web browser.
You can find additional information about maintaining setting variants for online help (transaction SR13) in the Business Information Warehouse Implementation Guide (IMG), under the node General BW Settings ® Settings for Displaying SAP Content Documentation."
however I can figure out how to put the bc documentation in my metadata repository
I execute TC SR13, and has this entry in the PlainHtmlHttp tab:

I think is not possibl because if you want to open the web pages of help.sap is requered that your SAP system would have http connection directly to internet and at least by a security issue no recommended.....

There is actually code in the base class that tests for
whether the (extended) class implements the interface, so you don't
need to add any methods - the interface itself is used as a "marker
interface". Try setting the focusEnabled property to true as well
(if you haven't already).
If none of this works, have a look at the source of the
canvas class - from within flexBuilder, hold down Ctrl and click on
the reference to Canvas in your class (extends...). This should
open the source in your editor and you can search for "focus" and
probably find our where it's going wrong.

All methods to read xmp metadata are not listed and described in documentation

i have checked xapdumper example. it uses many methods which are not listed in documentation.
also it is not able to read metadata from pdf files.
can anyone tell me that what should i do to read metadata.
i-e a brief explanation of steps i should follow to read metadata from a pdf file.

I have found that the XMP data of an InDesign document can be retrieved in actionscript as follows:
InDesign.app.activeDocument.metadataPreferences
This returns the MetadataPreference object.
But I am not able to iterate each namespace in the xmp. There isn't any XMPFile class which allows me to serialize the object to xml file so that I can iterate all elements in the XMP.
I could not relate class like XMPMeta, XMPProp, etc. with the MetaDataPreference class. So, how to obtain the entire xmp packet from the MetadataPreference object?
Can anyone shed light on this?
