Hi all,
I am new to this environment. And i would like to know how to use the java methods in rules, and how write java classes for customised purpose.
i.e writing the ones using the IDM provided package
such as getting users from session cache, and rest all ..........
Is there any documentaion for it. Or any one's blog?
Please help me out.

When you download IDM, the install package has a directory "RFE", you can find this information there.

    i have the classes located as the setup tutorial recommends (root/WEB-INF/classes/) and still nothing works. i would appreciate any help anyone can give.
    thanks,

    Which tutorial are you following?
    As of java1.4, all classes must be in packages for them to work in Tomcat. This means your beans and servlets too.
    Put your beans in a package, and then recompile them, and put them in the right place.
    eg
    package com.mypackage
    public class MyClass ...
    once compiled would go into WEB-INF/classes/com/mypackage/MyClass.class
    Are you using Product and ProductList classes in scriptlet code?
    Have you imported them with a page directive
    <%@ page import="com.mypackage.Product, com.mypackage.ProductList" %> ?

  • How to use JAVA class in C++

    Hi people,
    is there anyone who knows how I can create and use JAVA class in C++ code. Example I have one JAVA class which works with database.
    One of the methods from this class returns XML string that represent result set. How to create instance of this class inside of C++ and have possibility to call this method.

    Hi, I'm also curious how to solve this.
    My problem is that I call a DLL from C++ that returns several values (e.g. function(a, b, c, &w, &x, &y, &z); )
    and I want to create a java class object that can be used to store these values so I can return 1 object

  • Can i Use java Class

    Can any help, can i use java class in
    froms 6 or any one have designed form
    of progress bar please help me

    Thanks for your reply...
    Actually the task is quite simple... It requires me to do a better interface for a tomcat server folders...
    For example, users are free to access
    http://apache.oss.eznetsols.org/jakarta/tomcat-5/v5.0.12-beta/
    to download the tomcat... However, its index may not nice and easy for browing.. Therefore, the task requires a new dynamic page to access this server folder, and get all file names under this folder, anlaysis whether it is file or directory..and finally get its path....
    It is quite easy to do a JSP page, but I don't know whether it is possible to do by using JavaScript .... Although JS is running in client side, the user/client also can access the tomcat folder, why not JavaScript?
    Thanks a lot!

    please help me to find right way to do this.
    i am using netbeans ide.

    Very bad approach
    1) Think if your table contains more than one NAMEs then you will get only the last one with your code.
    2) Your String is declared as local variable in the method.
    3) You have not created any object of NewClass nor called the method in JSP page. Then who will call the method to run sql?
    4) Your NewClass contains main method which will not work in web application, it's not standalone desktop application so remove main.
    Better create an ArrayList and then call the method of NewClass and then store the data into ArrayList and return the ArrayList.
    It should look like
    {code:java}
    package ris;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    public class  NewClass{
        public static ArrayList getNames(){
            Connection con = null;
            ResultSet rs=null;
            Statement smt=null;
            ArrayList nameList = new ArrayList();
            try{
                Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
                con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql:///net","root", "anthony111");
                smt=con.createStatement();
               rs= smt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM emp");
               while(rs.next()){
                nameList.add(rs.getString("Name"));
               return nameList;
                }catch( Exception e){
                    String msg="Exception:"+e.getMessage();
                   </code><code class="jive-code jive-java"><font>return nameList;</code><code class="jive-code jive-java">
                }finally {
          try {
            if(con != null)
              con.close();
          } catch(SQLException e) {}
          </code><code>return nameList;</code>
    <code class="jive-code jive-java">    }

  • How to use java classes of DC1 in DC2

    When I was trying to use a java-class from another DC, I stumbled into an error I didn't expect:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/company/application/utils
    This is what I did to get this far:
    1. Created an empty Web Dynpro DC (DC1), to be used as a utilities library.
    2. Added a Java class to the webdynpro project.
    3. Added the class to a public part of type compilation.
    4. Created a second Web Dynpro DC (DC2), which is supposed to consume the class from DC1.
    5. Added a DC-usage relation, so that DC1 is in DC2's used DCs. In this usage-relation built-time and run-time were checked
    5. Used DC1's class in DC2's component controller
    6. Built both DCs and deployed them
    7. Ran the application in DC2.
    When I run the application, the application dumps a stack trace at the moment that and object is created based on the class in DC1.
    Any idea how to get this working?

    Vincenzo, here is the real error message:
    java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access method nl.phoqus.pataut.Guid.getGuidString()Ljava/lang/String; from class nl.phoqus.pataut.PatientAuthorization
    I have inserted a very simple GUID generator that I used in a previous project. Please find the class file below:
    package nl.phoqus.pataut;
    import java.util.Random;
    public class Guid {
         private static Guid guidFactory = new Guid();
         static Random random = new Random();
          * Allow global replacement of the GUID generator.  Applications
          * wishing to install their own GUID generators should sub-class
          * Guid, override the getGuid() method, and use this method to
          *  install their generator.
         public static void
         setGuidImpl(Guid factory) {
         guidFactory = factory;
          * Return a GUID as a string.
         public static String getString() {
         return guidFactory.getGuidString();
          * Return a GUID as a string.  This is completely arbitrary, and
          * returns the hexification of a random value followed by a
          * timestamp.
         protected String getGuidString() {
            long rand = (random.nextLong() & 0x7FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFL) | 0x4000000000000000L;
            return Long.toString(rand, 32) + Long.toString(System.currentTimeMillis()&0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFL, 32);
    I'm calling the class using the following statements from the component controller of DC2:
    Guid x = new Guid();
    String y = x.getGuidString();
    The component controller resides in package package nl.phoqus.pataut.
    Would that be the problem?

  • Runnig FOP using java class

    Hi!, I'm using Fop to PDF generation from XML file and XSL:FO file, the last one is xsl with namespaces fo.
    My problem is that, I get, from java class, generatting a PDF file from fo file, but, I want to get a PDF file from XML file and XSL:FO file. So, what is the best class of API FOP that I can use in which, pass it like a parameters the XML and XSL:FO files, this class generates directly the pdf file?
    Anybody can help me writting an example?.
    Thaks a lot.
    I'm sorry for my english, I know that is quite poor.

    Hello,
    I am also new using FO within Java. I looked on the infos and links on xml.apache.org (the links you gave), but my problems comes by addapting the servlet example to a local application (it means, local PDF generation and no via server, by given XML and XSL files).
    Since I want to generate a lot of PDF Files, I wrote a small program for it instead of using the provided fop.bat. It compiles fine, but by running it appears a message telling it that the Logger class can't be found. where is the problem? thanks in advance.

  • Using java classes in jsp

    hi everybody
    I'm using Apache Tomcat 5.5.7 and I want to develop very very simple jsp-files.
    I have a java class file called MyClass.
    When I start the jsp file with the code line
    MyClass class = new MyClass();
    I get this error: MyClass cannot be resolved or is not a type
    As I know the hierachy must be the following:
    ProjectRoot/WEB-INF/classes/MyClass.class
    ProjectRoot/start.jsp
    In the java class the Constructor is empty... so I cannot see why this should make a problem. I also tried to put the class file into a package and import the package. I had the same error then.
    I read something about the web.xml file which should be in the WEB-INF directory.
    will this help me... and if yes, what do I need to write into it?
    If I did any mistake I would be happy if somebody could give me a hint.
    Cheers
    alex

    1 - The class needs to be in a package. eg com.mypackage.MyClass. This file lives in /WEB-INF/classes/com/mypackage/MyClass.class
    2 - in your jsp you include the line
    <%@ page import="com.mypackage.MyClass" %>
    <%
    MyClass myClass = new MyClass();
    %>
    3 - Also note that "class" is a reserved word in java, and can not be used as a variable identifier.
    4 - Yes you most probably should have a web.xml file in the WEB-INF directory.
    Look under the webbapps/ROOT/WEB-INF for a basic example.
    Cheers,

    SomeObject so = null;
    // ... some more code ...
    so.someMethod(); // No can do! A NPE will be thrown!

  • Why JMS if we can use JAVA classes for the same

    if we can communicate using the java classes which are protable and platform independent why do we have to use JMS for that. what is so specific about it and what is the benefit that makes it outstanding

    James/Steve,
    I feel that some of your points are misleading. The original authors point was a comparison against JMS and other means of achieving similar functionality with Java. Regarding your combined points:
    2) Scalability is something that can be achieved regardless of whether JMS is used. Clustering has nothing to do with JMS, each vendors clustering implementation is entirely proprietary.
    4) Aside from the inclusion of JNDI the JMS specification offers nothing for management. You only need to look through this forum at the amount of times a question like how do I make a topic programmatically? has been asked. All good JMS vendors offer management APIs and tools but all are vendor specific implementations.
    10) There is no JMS standard for load balancing. The generic round robin features of a JMS queue falls a long way short of true load balancing. Any vendor (ourselves included) that offers load balancing does so in an entirely proprietary manner.
    11) AgainJMS provides no standards for clustering of running one or more server. This is entirely down to implementation and functionality is vendor specific.
    12) Dead Message/Letter Queues are not defined in JMS
    14) What does serialization have to do with the original point? How one chooses to serialize their content ( XML, Object Serialization, Externalizable etc..) is equally applicable to both bespoke Java coding and JMS implementations.
    To birs1982:
    JMS is merely a collection of interfaces that define how one might read and write to a topic or queue. Vendors (both open source and commercial) recognize that these interfaces alone are not enough to offer an entire middleware messaging solution and complete the offering with sophisticated management, resilience, clustering, security and other value added features. These value added features require considerable effort to get right as do things like scalability and performance.
    Given JMS like messaging is almost commodity now (just look at the amount of JMS vendors that have leaped into the ESB space) and a common (perhaps essential) infrastructure component why produce it yourself? Surely your time is better spent serving your clients and business lines rather that writing what amounts to plumbing. All the hard work has been done and the price for this hard work (depending on your requirements) is anything from free to many thousands of pounds.

  • Create a webservice using java class

    Hi,
    I have a java class (which is used to open a URL). I need to create a webservice out of this so that I can publish this. Which is the best tool to convert java to a webservice and what are the steps.
    Any pointers on this would be of great help.
    Thanks,
    Shreevatsa

    If you are using Java 6 use JAX-WS to expose it as a webservice. See the JavaEE tutorial for more information.
