Documenting a Framework Installation

Has anyone developed a script that assembles the relavent configuration files and documents the current configuration of a framework. You could start with the CISTAB file and from you will know how many environments you have to deal with and the location of each.

As you mentioned correctly that from CISTAB we can find the Environment name ($SPLENVIRON$) and the relevant Environment deployment path ($SPLEBASE$).
For each environment, it's setting/configuration are written to $SPLEBASE$/etc/ENVIRON.INI.
You also have install_info.txt, installed_fixes.txt, PRODUCT.txt, and SPLVERSION.txt under $SPLEBASE$/etc/.
You can utilize the template/table provided within Installation guide under section 'Environment Configuration Checklist' to document the configuration parameters.
If you have custom code/algorithms, you have CMVERSION.txt under $SPLEBASE$/etc along with the compiled code under $SPLEBASE$/splapp/application/root/cm.
I believe documenting all these configuration is one time task, and are less prone to frequent changes.
