Documenting all changes made on mac by newly-installed app

Is there any app/script which will enable me to find ALL junk and changes left behind by an uninstalled app? I don't mean just plists, etc. which AppTrap and others find easily enough. but something that will probably need to be run before the install and again after the install is fully completed. I've seen this in Windows (where it is often glaringly needed!) but can't find it for Apple kit.

  • Looking for a way to view all changes made with subversion [image]

    Hi guys,
My upfront apologizes if this is not the right forum... I'm using a subversion with eclipse and wonder if there is a better way to VIEW all changes made to my code. Right now, if I wish to know of a change I need to "compare with" and choose a version - this gives me only one file and it's really hard to go through 10+ files.
Question: is there a better way to do that? meaning a webpage I can refer to and see all code that was changed/added/deleted? (the idea is to look at it at the end of the day and see all changes)
something that can provide a snapshot like this image.
The picture above is from Trac but I found it SOO hard to install. Wonder if there's a way just to view changes.
    Thanks for any pointers

You mean viewing all changes over a codebase, as opposed to a single file?
I do that like this on the command line:
svn diff -r1234:1244 path | vi -(where the numbers are whatever revision numbers I want to compare, and "path" is a path under source control)
I'll bet you can configure Subversion to take a diff tool that you specify.
If you want to do this under Eclipse specifically... then you probably want to check with an Eclipse forum somewhere. Eclipse is not a Sun/Oracle product, so it's not here. Try eclipse.org, probably.

All app updates and newly installed apps disappear after shutdown, how do i fix this?

    Hello Masterklaus69,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like there is a lot of data in the Other catagory. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • TS1702 How do I change the Apple ID in an installed APP?  I have changed the apple ID in all the other apps due to security reasons. All changes were effective except the APPS ID.Where do I go to change the Apple ID?

How do I change the Apple ID in an installed APP?  I have changed the apple ID in all the other apps due to security reasons. All changes were effective except the APPS ID.Where do I go to change the Apple ID for the APPS store?  Thanks in advance.

You do not.  Apps and any content purchased from the iTunes store are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

  • After updating My iPad 2 to iOS 5.1.1 , my newly installed apps are not working.

After updating My iPad 2 to iOS 5.1.1 , my newly installed apps are  not working . When I try to open the app the screen just flashes and then nothing happens. Built in apps works fine . Please help

I realize that installing apps is not the problem. Installing another app from the app store is a recommended troubleshooting tip from Apple if all of the third party apps will not open. It resets your iTunes authorization when you install the app because you have to enter your password.
If you didn't install another app try it. Read this support article as well.
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased for the App Store
Try this as well. Quit all apps, reset the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then see if the apps will launch.

  • How to remove all changes made to an image in Camera Raw -

In CS4 with latest ver. of Camera Raw, I think there is a way to remove all changes previously made to an image while using Camera Raw.
In other words after doing this the little icon in the upper right hand corner of an image in Bridge that indicates changes have been applied to an image, should be gone. Another way of asking this would be to say, how can I start all over again with the original image in Camera Raw by removing all changes prefiously made to it in Camera Raw?
    TIA

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that for sure*.  As a certified old geezer who avoids cluttering his mind with stuff that can easily be looked up in a menu, I stay away from keyboard shortcuts as much as I can, using only those applicable system wide, the most obvious ones in Photoshop like deselect, etc.
    * However, since no such shortcut appears next to the menu command, I doubt there is one.
You could create an action and assign it a key command, though.  Doh!
Never mind.  That was a total brain short circuit.  You can't create actions in Bridge.  You'll need a script.  Ask in the Bridge Scripting forum.

  • Lost all changes made in the develop module in lr5

I have lost all changes that I made in the develop module. Most of these photos where stacked with the raw copy on top of the jpeg.  Then I had picked the ones I liked and make changes to them in the develop module. Then I and changed them to DNG. This was over two weeks ago and I think I was trying to put them in to a collection. Now all I see is the originals as they appeared on the day they where imported.

Yes, it seems like you have two catalogs and imported into both.
I suggest strongly you view some video tutorials on AdobeTV before you get into a tangle.

  • Error Code 16 on Mac with Newly-Installed Yosemite (a Java problem?)

Like many out there I am unable to use CS6 applications at all after an OS update to Yosemite (in my case from 10.8.5, on my 2012 iMac).  I get an Error 16 message, and a Java problem error message.
I've read many posts about fixing this issue, including the Adobe gospel very specific to this problem—about changing the permissions in a couple of folders—, which I found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/configuration-error-cs5.html   I did exactly as directed and saw no change in the problem.
I also read that the Java version necessary for CS6 products to run on Yosemite is a boondoggle in itself.  Java 6 is apparently necessary for CS6 products to run, but that version is insecure, and besides, it's old.   Java 8 Build 31 is the current and safe version but it apparently is incompatible with none but the most recently-updated Adobe products.  Several posts on Adobe's support pages suggest a hacky fix for this Java issue, which involves downloading and installing the latest Java version from Oracle, and then creating specifically-named empty folders on one's hard drive within a couple of obscure System/Library/Java folders:
    http://oliverdowling.com.au/2014/03/28/java-se-8-on-mac-os-x/
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/7193884
I did this too, and again saw no change in the problem.
Re-installing my CS6 suite has not worked, either.  I receive the same error code message when starting up any of the applications.  At this point I've been forced to go back to my previous operating system, since I am heavily reliant on CS6 to do my work each day.
I understand that many people are having this trouble after updating to Yosemite, and more than a few posts on these forums indicate this is true even for people like me who've followed Adobe's purported fix that I linked above.  Has anyone in userland or at Adobe found anything lately that could help here?

uninstall cs6 and clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6).
update your os, Java for OS X 2014-001
    then install cs6.

  • A1347.. MD388LL/A Mac mini pre-installed apps lost..?

Did my A1347.. MD388LL/A Mac mini (srl # C07L83VPDWYM, November 2013) come with the numbers app? I think the when I copied my previous mini's setup onto the new mini, I lost all of the newer pre-installed apps... and it didn't come with a backup system's disk... Is there a way to re-accuire those originally supplied apps, without having to buy them again?

I had been using Mavericks on my old mini, and the new one wasn't running that version of OS X, so I restored from my backup to get back where I had been before the old mini died and I bought the newer mini... I didn't miss anything until I was going to help a friend, and they were asking questions about the pre-installed Apple apps... Numbers specifically... and I realized that I most likely had had this apps on my new machine, and had blown them all away when I restored the new mini to what the old mini had been running.... It's not the end of the world... I just got to thinking that there might be an Apple archive somewhere that would act like resource for repairing messed up apps supplied on new machines... In the old days.... you'd have received a disk along with the new computer to do that soft of thing.... No??

  • Mac won't open newly installed apps.

I am trying to install and open apps from the Mac App Store, but nothing I installed today will open. Apps I already had are working fine, but when I try to install a new one the app appears in Finder and the Launchpad, but the app won't open. It also doesn't ask me to enter my Apple ID password. It gives me no notification about why it won't open. I restarted the laptop twice today (once for an update) and it didn't change anything. I have OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3 and I'm using a MacBook Air.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • How can I delete all the data in Mac pro and install the latest version of OSX Mavericks?

    Hi,
I want to know why my mac become slow and so, I want to data and system and I want to install the latest version OS X Mcvericks. How can I do?
    Thanks

    Open the App Store app:
    And, choose Mavericks:
Then download and run the installer. Tip: It would be a good idea to quit the installer before proceding with the install, so that you can copy it or move it to location outside of your Applications folder. That way the installer won't be deleted after you run it.
If you don't have a backup of your current Lion partition, the only way that you can do a clean install is to erase that partition, thus losing all of your data.

  • Why all newly installed Apps appear on the second page of Launchpad?

I'm new to Mac (1y now). Using 10.7.5 on my MacBook Air.
Every time I install an App it appears in the second page of Launchpad and since I don't want to have a second page, I move it back into one of my App groups on the first page, erase the empty page, and next time I install an App it happens again! What's wrong with the endless open space I still have on the first page? Why is that not good enough?

Slightly bumping because I believe I understand this strange phenomena...
It would appear that the iPhone allows you to create folders, but the device still treats these apps even when they are put in folders as if they take a "Space" on the homescreen. That being said if you have more than a few third party applications installed they would " if you were to unfolder all your apps" end up on the second page.
Please tell me I am wrong and this is a joke...

  • Cannot print wirelessly from my Mac to newly installed HP Officejet 4620

I've just installed a new HP Officejet 4620 all-in-one printer this afternoon.   I used the  HP Setup Assistant and downloaded drivers from the internet since I don't have a CD drive on my Mac.  I've got a relatively new Netgear router.   When I bought the printer yesterday, I spent all afternoon trying to install it to no avail.  Got some message about a MAC filter problem.  I then reset the Netgear back to its default settings as well as the printer and then the printer setup seemed to be successful.  At least I got a message to that effect and the Printer Status Report, HP Network Configuration Page, and Wireless Network Test Results reports are came back with no problems.  I've tried multiple times to print from this computer to no avail.  When I press Command plus P the print menu comes up with "save" or "cancel" as the only options.  Anyone have any ideas on what could be amiss?  I'm about ready to give up.

So it sounds like the printer is connected to the wireless network.  If so:
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • How do I restore all of my data to a newly installed hard drive from my time machine backup?  Thanks

I had to replace my hard drive, I am new to restoring the data from the time machine.  Is there anywhere that the steps are clearly articulated as I am not that versed in this kind of stuff?  Thanks for responding.

    Here it is: http://www.apple.com/au/osx/recovery/
As far as I'm concerned, the ONLY way to do this is to connect your macbook to your time capsule via Ethernet and restart it holding down the COMMAND-R keys.
This will take you to a restore prompt which will boot from your time capsule. The restore will then be a complete and up to date version of your old hard disk.
Don't even bother with older boot disks. I wished I got this advice from the many enquiries I made over two days! Restore took 2.5 hours.
Only found out about command R by a random google search late at night. So anybody replacing their hard drive and restoring from a time machine backup - do this!

  • All newly installed apps disappear after the installation is done?

My problem started a few days ago. I install a new app from the app store and it shows up as loading on the home screen. As soon as the installation is done the icon simply disappears. Finder cannot locate it and the store shows the OPEN button, but it does nothing when pressed.I tried settings/general/usage/storage and the missing apps are there but the name of the missing apps does not show. I only see the icon and the size. I can delete the apps from there but reinstalling them does not help.

Unfortunately that did not help. It seems that there is a limit on the number of apps that can be shown on the home screen. I have close to 200 apps installed, and they are organized in folders on the home screen (3 pages). I must have hit the limit for apps in the home screen. I can install new apps, but they will not show up. If i delete one of the old apps then install a new one it will show on the home screen. I believe when the count gets to 189 then the next one (#190) will disappear after installation.
