Documents get shrunk by pdf creator

I have Acrobat Pro 9 (9.4.3.321) and used to have no problems with the pdf printer.
Of late, however, when I create pdf files with it, the original document becomes shrunk down to a ridiculous (and unusable) degree. I don't recall changing any settings and, looking through them, can't find one that looks wrong.
Today I printed an A4 300 dpi sheet from Photoshop at High Quality Print setting. The original file was 2480x3508 pixels. When it opens in Acrobat I have to blow it up to 1600% to be anywhere near original size and (naturally) only get rough pixels. When I try to open the pdf in Photoshop, the import dialog shows the dimensions as 1.26 x 1.78 cm ... with the same pixelated mess resulting when opened.
I assume I am missing something really obvious ... so if someone could point me in the right direction I would be very much abliged.
PS If I copy the the original image to the clipboard and 'Create PDF from Clipboard' in Acrobat, the result is fine ... but I WOULD like to use the printer again.

Really think your are in the wrong forum here: this is about Adobe Captivate, not about 'Acrobat Pro' if that is what you mean by 'PDF Creator'? Please post in one of the forums over here:

  • Border getting added to PDF document when printing using ePrint

We have HP LASERJET PRO 200 COLOR MFP M275nw printer. We are using the Version 2.3.1 of the HP ePrint Android application to print a PDF document from an Android tablet. When document gets printed, it has borders all around and the document. Because of this the document appears "shrunk". If we use Adobe Reader application on PC and print the document at "Actual Size" then no borders get added to the document and the document appears to be printed at exact scale. Is this a limitation of the printer or a bug in the ePrint application. Is there a HP printer (other than what we are using) where using ePrint application we can print "borderless" PDF documents from Android tablet?

    Hi,
You have to wait for Android (Google) or HP to produce an app which can print borderless.

  • FrameMaker 10 Trial not installing Acrobat PDF Creator

Hi, I am trying to install the Trial Edition of FrameMaker 10 on a Windows 7 PC, for evaluation.
The installation of FM10 completes, however PDF Creator 10 is not installed even though I select for it to be done.  I would guess that there should be a separate installer process run by the main FM10 installer, to install PDF Creator 10.  This never happens.
There are no error messages from the install program, but when I check the installer log I find:
Testing dependency: Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 10 with relationship Recommended
Adding failed payload to recommended list
    and
Checking operation result for {AC76D478-1033-0000-3478-000000000005} Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 10 10.0.0.0

    and
DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
    DW050:  - Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 10: Install failed
I understand that attempting to install Adobe products is problematic if previous versions are present on the machine, so I took great care to remove all traces of previous installs of Acrobat etc. before starting.
Please could someone from Adobe assist? I would like to evaluate FM10 with PDF Creator 10 but am unable to due to the buggy installer.
Note: What makes this even more frustrating is that running the installer for PDF Creator on its own gives the message 'Cannot Install Alone, Please Run Installer for FrameMaker'!

    Hi,
Could you please confirm if you already have Adobe Acrobat/ Adobe RoboHelp installed on your machine, if so the add on might not be installed as the componenets required to create a PDF (under Adobe PDF creation Add on) might be already installed there?
Just do a test to confirm if the PDF creation functionality is working fine--
    Launch FrameMaker
    Create a Dummy Document
    Select File save as PDF
Verify if you get a PDF file created at the chosen location?
    Good Luck!
    Thanks,

  • Office PDF Print and office PDF creator(adobe plugin) create different line thickness result

    Hi together,
Office PDF Print and office abobe PDF creator(adobe plugin) create different result. It seems that Adobe PDf creater improves line thickness to 1pt instead of 0,3pt. Is there a setting to change to original 0,3 because this 0,3 are standard line thickness for our documents. with adobe V9 the line was 0,3pt. (we need thin, mid and thick lines)
After 2 day's google searching this is the last change for hope :-)
    Software Versions
    Windows 7
    MS Office 2007 (12.0.6668.5000) SP3 MSO (12.0.6662.5000)
    Adobe Acrobat X (10.1.7)
Left: MSO Adobe Plugin / MId: MS Word / Rigth: PDF printed over "print" AdobePDF printer

    Hi Bill,
Thanks a lot for the fast reply, i have tested it with 300dpi but I didn't get a different result. The bad thing is that not all lines getting thicker. if there is no arrow or ball at the end of the line the line thickness will not change (see Pic). I think this is a Acrobat error, i don't think that this will improve the pdf quality if the progam changes only some lanes and not all to 1pt.
I Think we must downgrade to version 9.

  • I have a problem with FOXIT pdf creator

I want to print a document off of word to my printer. Trouble is 'Fox IT PDF creator' will send the document to the fax.
I try & uninstall the program, but the pop up message says that it can't find the uninstall instructions. I tried system restore; no resolve.
This program for some reason got on my computer, a laptop. Though I like it, due to the fact Adobe isn't working very well & the PDF documents seem to load up very well on Fox-it.
Please share with me how to get around this problem.
    Thanks for reading the problem,

Although there is a FOX in the name of that program, it isn't related to Firefox or Mozilla.

  • Why pages sometimes tells me : "an unknown error occurred" when trying to export a document into .docx or .pdf ?

    Hello !
Since I've done the 5.0 update for Pages (and also with 5.1 and 5.2), I sometimes don't manage to export my documents into .docx or .pdf files. I get a message telling: "an unknown error occured", and the file isn't converted. Could someone help me ?

Other than using the version that works, as VikingOS suggests, look for any distinguishing features or objects that may be common amongst the files that won't convert. Particularly Tables which seem to experience the most problems.
We have had a number of reports of this by other users and not been able to finger exactly what is the cause.
Pages 5.2 has quite a few problems with exporting and this is just another.

  • Mangal Fonts and Tunga Fonts in (MS Home and Student 2010) Word 2010 not getting converted into PDF

Why do I get a totally blank PDF file whenever I try to convert any (Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010, Version: 14.0.6029.1000) Word document file containing either Mangal Fonts (Hindi) and Tunga Fonts (Kannada) into a PDF file (by using Adobe Acrobat X Standard - English, Version: 10.1.4, Program File Size: 1790 MB, Complete/Full Version) after formatting and reinstalling all the necessary software / softwares (Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3 and Windows XP Service Pack 3, Version: 20080414-031525, Program File Size: 9.08 MB)?
    I'm using
    01) Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3
    02) Computer: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 3.00 GHz, 504 MB of RAM
    03) Windows XP Service Pack 3, Version: 20080414-031525, Program File Size: 9.08 MB

    06) Windows Internet Explorer 8, Version: 20090308.140743, Program File Size: 4.20 MB
Any Word 2010 document file that has been converted into any PDF File unfortunately does not show either the Mangal (Hindi) Fonts or the Tunga (Kannada) Fonts.
The PDF file will unfortunately become/remain totally/fully/completely blank.
When I convert an Excel Workbook having the Tunga Fonts (Kannada) to/into a PDF File, some of the Tunga fonts in the PDF file are legible and some are unfortunately illegible (get superimposed / overwritten on each other).
Perhaps I may get the same result if I try to convert an Excel Workbook having the Mangal Fonts (Hindi) to/into a PDF File with some Mangal fonts being/becoming legible and the rest being/becoming illegible (getting superimposed / overwritten on each other).

My chronological sequence of steps to create a Word 2010 Document or an Excel 2010 Workbook:
I first create a Word Document File or an Excel Workbook File and save it by giving an appropriate file name.
Then I right click on the closed Word Document File or the Excel Workbook File in the file folder and convert it into a PDF by retaining the same/original file name.
The font list of Microsoft Word 2010 claims/says/states that both Mangal and Tunga are True Type fonts and also that these fonts will/would be used on both printer and screen.
In case if there is any text content in English in the beginning it will get converted into PDF only till/until either a Mangal(Hindi)/Tunga(Kannada) Font starts.
The remaining English text content does not get converted into/to PDF the moment a Mangal(Hindi)/Tunga(Kannada) Font starts. If the entire matter is purely (100 per cent) in English text it will fully / completely / totally get converted into a PDF file without any problem.

  • How do I embed a pdf document into an existing pdf so that the user double clicks on the pdf object within the pdf and it opens? i've looked everywhere on various forums and tried attachments - but still not working. Thanks

I've tried various methods but to no avail. I have a pdf document and within the pdf I'd like to embed a couple pdf documents so that all the user has to do is double click on the pdf object inside the pdf and it opens in a new window. I've tried using attachments to do it and linking it...but to no avail. Anyone know how to do? I'm using Acrobat Pro Version 11. Thanks

The "embed" feature common to MS Office applications is not applicable to PDF (for the why and wherefore of PDF get comfortable and read the ISO Standard for PDF - ISO 32000-1:2008).
You can insert other PDF files' pages into any given PDF.
You can attach files of supported formats to a PDF (of course a PDF is supported).
You cannot "embed". So, nothing is broken.
    Be well...

  • How get hyperlinks to PDFs to open in separate window?

I have a very large Microsoft Word 2007 document containing lots of hyperlinks that I create a PDF from, that I must re-create from time to time due to editing changes. To save the trouble of re-entering all its hyperlinks (to other PDFs) every time I re-build the main PDF (with my resulting tendency to overlook some of them), I would like to embed them into Word ahead of time. The problem is, when I do so, the links in the resulting PDF always open in the main document, wiping out what was there.
My main PDF contains instructions for how to install the Previous View button but the likelihood is many or most users will not notice them, with the result that when they go to one of the linked PDFs they have no way to return to the main document.
Previously, I have been building these hyperlinks after the PDF is created, and as you know, that gives me the option to tell Acrobat that I want the linked PDF to open in its own window. Is there any way I can instruct the automatic PDF-building process from Word to do that instead of its default behavior of always opening them within the main document?
I get the same result whether I build the PDF by loading the Word docx into Acrobat, or using the Create PDF button from within Word.
    Thanks for your help.
    Peyton
P.S. One obvious solution would be to build links back to the main document from the smaller PDFs themselves, but that idea is completely out since it's too late for me to re-build all the smaller PDFs now. Aside from the deadline I'm working under, every one of them contains gobs of links to media files that must be re-added one by one, going through the whole set of Acrobat dialogs for choosing their parameters, which are always the same. So far all my requests to Adobe to add a default video media parameters capability have not led to this being done.

Thanks so much for pointing me to the right place. As it turned out, the deadline I'm under to get this book ready meant I had to go ahead and insert the links to its external PDFs by hand for this version, although I plan to learn about javascript for future versions of the book, which will definitely occur.
I used to be a web page programmer, so I'm quite familiar with javascript itself. Now what I mainly need will be to understand its object model in Acrobat, and the interface to it  from inside Acrobat.
What I pray fervently for (but doubt I will find it there) is javascript code to set the parameters of all embedded videos, of which I have over 100, and must go through a laborious series of dialogs to set the parameters for each and every one individually! (or more likely, a function I could write that would be passed an identity code for each video clip in turn.)

  • Printing document with table to PDF - file disappears

When I print a document to PDF from either AppleWorks or MS Word, it is saved to the location as PDF and works as would be expected. If the file contains a table, the PDF file initially appears where saved but disappears when I attempt to access it.
The document was initially created in AppleWorks. The MS Word document was translated from AppleWorks.
The PDF file quite literally disappears from the screen. All routine Mac software maintenance is on schedule and all Apple updates for my OS completed to date.

The solution is logical, if annoying.
My Print to PDF problem has been solved. I complained about not being able to save documents containing tables created on AppleWorks as PDF, but the tables were not the problem. The problem was a font within a table. I discovered this when I could also not print the document to a printer. Despite saving as PDF being a print routine, I cannot get out of Save As mode. The document did print to PDF on my mother’s iBook because another font was substituted in the table.
There are several fonts on my PowerBook that will not print, even on a postscript printer that has them on board. That is a separate and largely ignored problem. One of those is the Bookman family. Too bad. I like that family and use it frequently with older operating systems, but OS X refuses to print anything containing that font. I have never taken the time to troubleshoot the problem.
I had already performed the searches suggested to no avail. The point of all this is that font problems that prevent printing a document to a printer will also prevent a document from printing to PDF. The icon initially appearing then going away seems odd to me but probably not to a MacGeek.
Thank you, Mask, for giving thought to this issue. Now, maybe I should invest in a font troubleshooting application.

How do I create a document with an imported PDF in 300dpi using a FOGRA27 colour profile?
I can import the PDF by creating a new document and finding the PDF in places, but it's bad quality.
The only colour profile I can find under View - Proof Setup is FOGRA39, but I need FOGRA27!
Help help help, I need to get these files printed in two days!
    Thanks so much..
    xx

Proof Colors doesn't change the file's color management, it just lets you see what the color values would look like if they are printed unchanged on different output devices. If you want to actually convert the color from one CMYK space to another, it's probably better to do that in Acrobat—Tools>Print Production>Convert Colors.
There's very little difference between Fogra27 and Fogra39—Fogra27 allows more total ink 350 vs. 330.
There's nothing you can do to improve the quality of low res images
