Documents in STS

Hi all!
I want to ask about documents in STS. May be some of you did this: I need to attach word/excel documents in STS (on level of comments maintain). Help me if you have ideas how to do this.

Hello Marina,
it's not possible to do this in STS. If you want to attach Word or Excel files you have to use BPS with the GUI (planning folders) or a BW query.

Office Web Apps don't open documents stored on Sharepoint server

We have Sharepoint Server 2013 installed on a AD domain controller and Office Web Apps installed on a machine in the same domain and configured for internal-http WOPI zone. Discovery XML works fine. When opening a MS Office document, Office Web Apps show
its label for a minute or two, and then display the message "Sorry, Web App can't open this document because the service is busy. Please try again later" or the message "Web App cannot open this document due to an unknown error."
Network logs show repeated requests to Docdatahandler.ashx to which Web Apps server each time responds with some XML saying it's busy, and to Reshandler.ashx to which the server each time responds with 404 status.
The ULC logs for Sharepoint server look like this:

What went wrong, any suggestions?

Have you checked that by using normal user account or system account? Check by using normal user account,if error is still there then Office Web App server may not be configured properly,plz check the link for one of the causes of the issue

PDF files which stored in document library cannot be opened directly via Adobe Reader

When I open PDF files(Clicking on the "..." ellipsis actions menu and then selecting "Open") that are stored in the library of SharePoint2013 , it caused "An error occurred on the server ". However, in the Search
Center , I can open the same file from the search results. In search result, the action menu is not "Open", but "Edit ".

I has developed a single server of OfficeWeb application server farm using HTTP.
I am creating a OfficeWebAppsServer farm with the following command :
New-OfficeWebAppsFarm-InternalURL "URL"-AllowHttp-EditingEnabled
Client PC: Adoce Reader version 9.3.4 (update to the latest version 11 is failed too.)
PS: I use SharePoint server 2013 standard version.
Any help would be much appreciated.

According to your post, my understanding is that when open pdf files in library, you got the following error ”
An error occurred on the server”.
Did you install the following hotfix package on your SharePoint 2013 servers:
Description of the SharePoint Server 2013 hotfix package (Sts-x-none.msp): October 8, 2013.

Controlling filename of local copies of PDF document taken from a SharePoint Online library

I have a library of technical documents in SharePoint Online. People need to be able to attach them to emails to send to potential customers but I want to define the filename that will be applied when the document is copied out of SharePoint into the email,
and it won't be identical to the filename under which the file was originally uploaded but rather a concatenation of the original file name and some other fields from the library including the document type and version number.
I only have out-of-the-box SharePoint Online available and I'm a SharePoint novice, but I'm willing to have a go at some customisation if it's not too difficult.

Certainly, as an example:
Under my top level site Collection:
/subsiteA has been created using the records centre template, and I have a document library: "test docs A" in this subsite.
In subsiteA I have a content type called "Test Content Type"
"Test Content Type" has a column "test column A" which is a basic text column.
When I upload a word document to this library, then open it again, I can see the "test column A" in the document metadata (which appears in Quick Parts). However, "Document ID Value" does not appear. If I run the same scenario
on /subsiteB (created using the team site template), Document ID Value does appear.
With regards to {_UIVersion}:
When I turn on an Information Management Policy and enable the Label feature, I can add {Version} to the field successfully. However, when I upload and open a document from the document library in /subsiteA, the "Label" metadata is inserted
in the word document, however the value is {_UIVersion}, rather than the numeric value of the sharepoint item version (ie, 3.2). When I do the same against /subsiteB, the "Label" metadata does contain the sharepoint item version correctly.
I installed the "SharePoint Manager 2013 Online" app to the library. As you say, it looks like the enableparser property is not anywhere to be found. The only difference I can see is: RootWeb->Webs->subsiteA.WebTemplate = OFFILE
whereas RootWeb->Webs->subsiteB.WebTemplate = STS.

STS: Adjusting Notification Texts

Hello Experts,
I am trying to customize ZUPS_START_RUNDE text used in STS to notify receipients that a new planning session was started. I chose to modify SAP standard text for that, so I created modification named ZUPS_START_RUNDE_MOD1 and inserted my own text.
However, when I execute "Send start email" transaction from STS, the message/email I receive looks like this:
Generated include for enhancement - USERNAME - 12/08/2006 INCLUDE ZUPS_START_RUNDE_MOD1 OBJECT DOKU ID TX LANGUAGE E IF 'Never Display' = 'True'

So for some reason it inserts an IF condition in the email and only displays standard SAP text of UPS_START_RUNDE text...it does not display my modified text that I created.

Here is what SAP recommended:
1. Apply the note 1012068 to correct the space issue in the
document.
2. Insert spaces everywhere in between text and symbols,e.g. from 'responsibility:&nodetext_receiver&' to 'responsibility: &nodetext_receiver&'
3. If you are using MS Word. MS Word Editor does not currently support all the functions in SE61. SAP suggested to activate PC-Editor via transaction I18N (note
742662)
You also can switch to Line-Editor, when you are editing the document
via menu: GoTo -> Change Editor. Personally, I like this better in this case.
4. Remove any symbols like <(>,<)> from your document;
activate the documents.
5. About MODS of the SAP delivered texts
E-mail sending application does not support modifications of SAP
delivered texts, it is a reason why you see in e-mails lines similar to

SAP suggested to submit another message to address #5, which I do not have a need to right now. I decided to go with my own texts and implement steps 1-4.

Is BI Integrated Planning / STS right tools for this kind of application

Hi Everyone,
I need your advise/help. I need to create a simple web application to do as below:
1) Data Entry Form on web - Enter / Edit / Delete data i.e. order entry
2) Save the data in BW cube or datastore
3) E-mail to Managers for approvals
4) Click a button to approve
5) Retrieve the data from BW and show it as a web report
Is BI Integrated Planning / STS right tools for this kind of application? If yes, can you please recommend some documentations?; if no, Which tool will be the best fit for this kind of requirement?

STS allows you to lock/release/approve one set of plan data (say many records). I thought your requirement is to approve individual order documents. configuring this in STS would be unnecessarily complicated I think.
Similarly IP is to work on a set of data (say all order quantity for a region or period), not for individual orders. Building all the checks and validations that you would probably want in an order entry may not be easy to build in IP.
VC or Webdynpro can't post to a infocube. They can certainly write to a transactional ODS (which probably would be a better place to write such data).
I have limited knowledge of your requirement so can't say whether it is a problem - probably not a show-stopper. If you are entering a set of orders in one go, may be IP is appropriate, but if you are looking for an application where users may be posting individual orders at random times, IP would be a bad choice I think.

Data lock in STS

Hi,
   Following is the online documents about how to define the header char in STS:
   "Select the option Define Header Chars for Planning Session and choose Execute.
The system displays a dialog box in which you can select characteristics. You have already determined the planning area and a particular InfoCube by assigning a hierarchy to the selected subplan. The dialog box allows you to select those characteristic values of this InfoCube for which plan data is to be entered in the chosen planning session.
The selection that you set for the header characteristics is used by the system to delimit the dataspace which is locked against changes after the completion of a planning session. If possible, you should only make a restriction to central characteristics, typically to the version- and time-bearing characteristics.
   After configure the char for header in STS, I notice that only those char in the header of the layout can be used to define to lock the data. in the above example, if the version is in the data column of you layout,you want to lock version A after you send for approval. the lock is not going to take effect. after I change the layout and move the version to the header of the layout, the lock is effected.
   Is this suppose to be in STS?
   I think the lock in STS is the same concept with data slice, while in data slice you can choose any char to lock the data.
   Anybody have any ideal?

STS locking works differently from data slices. STS compares the complete planning package to the STS header characteristics. The package is only locked if it is completely included in the header selection.
Data slices work on data records. Therefore data slices can lock only parts of a layout.

Export / Reports for STS utilization on Span's between 15454 nodes

So...
I'm looking for a convenient way to keep track of my STS allocation by running reports for our customer circuits, between our various SONET 15454 and 15310 nodes. Ideally, I'd like to be able to tell CTC or CTM to generate a report which shows me how much (and which ones) STS-1's I'm using between various nodes, in a nice concise format; to help me plan for capacity, circuit rolls, and expansion. The report should also include things like % of a particular OC-48 or or OC-192 is used, available, outline of contiguous and non-contiguous STS's, and summary for all my point-to-point circuits utilization.
Currently what I have to do is:
1) Export from circuit-view (in CSV format) for each span, a seperate exported
file or each span, one by one (hoping not to overlook one)
2) Reconcile each Exported file against a spreadsheet that I maintain/update
(about once a week) updating the stats for each span
This way, I "hopefully" have a living document, updated with what bandwidth I have where (and for who), which I can reference in a consolidated way for my entire 15454 network. This greatly simplify's my capacity planing, rolls, and generally just keeping tabs on what and who I have assigned where.
It seem like there should be a simple "Generate Report" feature either whithin CTC or CTM. I should be able to customize it as I want.
Perhaps there is 3rd party software to inject into CTM which will extract such a report.
For all you 15454 guys and gals out there, please help if you know of a solution!!

I am trying to create Common login screen for multiple application for this i have chosen STS. But I am unable to find any guidance to develop in 2013 Visual Studio. Could you please provide us any information related to this like steps to create and host

Hi...i think we have retractor programs similiar to BPS.
STS will not work with IP. You need to use BPS for this.

How to STS on Multi Area?

U can not configure STS for Multi planning area it is only for basic planning area.
