Documents Saved automatically to an unspecified web site.

I have adobe acrobat 7.0 professional and when I create a pdf from any program it is being opened in an unspecified web site instead within the adobe program and at a location specified on my local computer. How can I stop this?

I have found my answer. As is the case many times the answer is simple. Somehow the property of the adobe file type relative to open with was changed to firefox instead of adobe.

Documents won't download completely from web site

Documents attempting to download from my insurer's website won't complete. Document loads partially in the Adobe window that opens, but a circular stats bar opens in the second page and the document won't finish.

The documents in question are my monthly insurance statement from USAA. I have always been able to download them before with no difficulty. I installed the latest update to Adobe Acrobat Reader, but still no luck. The document appeared only partially, but froze. I assumed the document from USAA was corrupted until I logged in using Google Chrome and the problem disappeared. Probably will use that browser going forward unless I can hear something that explains this.

Windows 9 automatically downloaded itself to my computer. Now I cannot look at PDFs from web sites which I have gone paperless with ie utilities, bank statements. How can this be fixed?

I'm guessing that you are referring to Internet Explorer 9, not Windows 9. Reinstall Adobe Reader on your system, it should put the plug ins you need to view pdf documents on Internet Exporer 9.

My web site is generated by Second Site , author John Cardinal, and contains email links which when selected automatically createsan email which all you need to do is fill in the body and send it. This has worked in the past in Firefox and does work now using IE 8, Opera, and Netscape browsers but does not work when using my Firefox browser neither locally on my computer or in my Internet website. Firefox is my browser of choice. This has worked in the past using Firefox.

I'm also running FF 36.0.4 on a Win 7 machine. Here is what I see when I "open" the map (from the server - not inside DW):
The map area stays white with no image even after several minutes. The cursor does change to a hand when over the area where the map should be and if I click and drag there the cursor switches to the closed hand - so it's acting like the map is there and can be moved - but just no map shows up.

Thanks Alex, but sadly I already tried that. Neither .docx or .xlsx files show up in the content list. They both show as a Chrome HTML document so changing how Firefox addresses those doesn't help since it thinks its the same type of file. I don't think I can manually add files into the "Content Type" left side nav.

How can I prevent videos from automatically starting when I load a web site?

Recently web sites have begun not only showing me the first shot of a video, but starting the video automatically when the page loads (or when I scroll down to the part of the page where the video is located). This happens on various news sites (nytimes.com), facebook, and other places. How can I prevent the autostart from happening?
I've got AdBlockPlus and NoScript enabled, although I whitelist many sites in NoScript. Videos used to wait for me to click an arrow in the middle (like a "play" button) to start; some still do, but most don't. (I believe an add-on is responsible for the play button, but I don't recall which one.)
Any suggestions?

The question remains unanswered: How does one prevent unwanted video content from playing automatically on web websites? The problem is most notable on news sites such as ABC News.
It is really, really, really really really, really, really, really really really, really, really, really really really irritating. More irritating, in fact, than when people cut and paste a word a dozen times to emphasize it.
MORE IRRITATING THAN WHJEN PEOPLE USE ALL CAPS OUT OF FRUSTRATION BECAUSE NO ONE SEEMS TO LISTEN OR TO CARE THAT I AM SLOWLY LOSING MY MIND BECAUSE EVERY FLIPPING WEB PAGE IN EXISTENCE PLAYS VIDEAS THAT I DON'T WANT TO WATCH.

I can not work out how to set Firefox to automatically load the latest version of a web site. I have web sites in my bookmarks and it does not look on the internet for the latest version and furthermore using F5 does not work . I save many PDF documents which I then attach to various internal forms.
Is there a way to create a folder to which the scanned document can automatically be saved without having to browse for the folder every time I save a document?

Unless your scanning software has that feature, "Save as" opens up a "browse" window by default in Windows or Mac. I had an old Lexmark scanner that allowed setting a default save location for "bulk scans", but I haven't seen that feature in years.

First you need to install a means of printing to pdf from word. I like cutepdf writer ( http://cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp ). Once installed you will print the doc in word and under the printer selection you choose pdf.
Once you have the file you put it in your local site folders and upload it using Dreamweaver. Be sure to link to it from a page so users can get to it and I would recommend giving the link a target of _black so it will open in a new window (see the properties inspector in DW).
