Dodge Journey (2010) iPod connector won't charge iPhone 3Gs

I was told that the iPod connector in the glove box would connect and charge my iPhone 3Gs. It connects but it won't charge the phone. Is there a different cable that would help?

There is a cable available from mopar, it is white in color and compatible with the iphone charging, i beleive it still asks you to turn airplane mode on but you can ignore that.

  • Firewire cable won't charge iPhone 3GS.......Why

Can someone explain to me why my firewire cable won't charge my iPhone yet it will charge my ipod 3rd gen, 5th gen and touch 1st gen without any problem!
I have the firewire/usb double connector cable which goes into a dock station. The firewire goes to the mains plug and the usb lead is free to connect to my laptop for syncing etc. When I connect the iPhone i get the message about not compatible etc etc. Is this just a money making scam to make you buy a new usb lead?
The beauty of this lead was to allow me to dock the ipod/iphone to charge and sync separately if needed.
    Anyone......

"On to the power adapters. Here’s the story: We learned a while back that iPhone 3G doesn’t support charging “via FireWire.” The thing is, there are lots of devices out there that don’t actually have a FireWire port, but are technically FireWire chargers because they’re sending power on the dock-connector pins that were used for power by the FireWire interface. There are a lot of reasons for this, chief among them the fact that the FireWire spec allows as much a 18 volts, while USB is a 5-volt connection. Since cars provide 12 volts of power, many if not most car-chargers used the FireWire method to send power.
However, in the interests of space and simplicity (i.e., not having to engineer for two separate power paths), Apple has dropped support for FireWire charging with the iPhone 3G. This means that many accessories won’t charge an iPhone 3G. Borchers said that Apple gave accessory developers a strong hint that this was going to happen a while ago, but he said that some companies have continued to implement FireWire-based chargers despite the warning.
But there’s some hope in sight: Borchers told me that at least a couple of third parties will be releasing converters that will pass through the dock connection, but convert the power to a USB standard. That adapter may make many of those charging devices come back to life."
That is from the link he provided.

  • My 4th gen iPod Touch won't charge

    Hi, folks:
Suddenly, my 4th generation iPod Touch won't charge. I don't mean it won't hold a charge; I mean it WON'T charge. There's no (peep!) when I attach it to a Mac, a Windows box, or to the wall. I've tried not only at my place but at my doctor's office, too, on his computer. Rats.
It fell three feet onto a concrete floor a week before this happened, so I'm unsure of cause/effect there. However, chances are most excellent that I touched it while filled with static electicity (my bed is exceedingly staticky). Maybe I touched the charging port? I have no idea, but I kinda sorta have a memory of having gotten a shock while touching my pod and wondering whether that was bad.
It'll be a couple more days before I can get to a Genius Bar (but thank cow I'm in New York City and have my pick of them!). In the meantime, can anyone calm me down about my situation? Do you imagine it's doomed (it IS still operable provided I keep it plugged in, though iTunes can't see it since it won't mount), or do you spose the installation of a new battery might bring my precious baby back to me? It IS freshly backed up (again, thank cow!), but I'm not in a position to buy a new one right now, and unfortunately, I don't know what to do with my eyeballs without a Touch in front of them.
Oh, how I hope someone can tell me that this has happened to him, and an Apple Genius merely did something magical and handed it back intact and amazing again so Ican cry happy tears. It's been four days and I'm just sick without it (and having to look at this gigantic Mac, with its large and beautiful text in many windows, means I can't RECLINE! WAAAAH!).
Thanks for any soothing words you have, and if you have sad ones, well, I'll vag up and read them, as I've prepared for the worst anyway (sob!). Just please deliver them gently.
    I appreciate it!

Wow, Kevin; that's a tantalizing theory! I don't like it (I *never* like to think about logic board damage for any piece of hardware), but it's tantalizing, as it would explain my pod seemingly charging out of thin air, and it'd also explain why my pod doesn't just DIE altogether from a dead battery.
I feel like an idiot: I have iTunes set to never sync automatically with my pod, so it never automatically recognizes the pod. I'll bet I could sync it if I clicked to "apply," as I've been downloading new apps since 2/21 (the last time I backed the pod up, mere minutes before it failed), but I don't want to risk not having a connection that's 100% and bollixing up what's on the pod now. (I'll be in the hospital for a day and will need something to read the whole time; I'll need an intact pod!)
Thanks for sticking with me, Kevin; I always like figgering things out, and your theory's interesting. I'll mention it to the Genius. It doesn't give me any hope, but not having any hope, I can always be pleasantly surprised, whereas if I go in all hopeful, someone can dash my dreams. This way, I'll prolly just have my expectations met.
I appreciate your talking it out with me a lot!

  • Ipod touch won't charge

My ipod touch won't charge through the computer or wall charger.
The screen just shows a faint red line on the battery with a lightning bolt below it

My ipod mini won't charge from the mains lead or a dock but works fine with the usb lead. I've tried different leads, sockets and resetting it but nothing works. It's a pain because if I go away from home for any length of time, I need to take my laptop just to charge it up.

I say try a different charger. When I wanted to avoid having to take my laptop everywhere, I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BNZLGE/ref=pdcp_etitle/002-2209999-2570423?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=172282
and it's worked fine in the six months I've had it... and besides it would cost under $10 to find the root of the problem, much more than Apple would charge, that's for sure.

  • HT1435 my 3rd generation iPod nano won't charge

My 3rd generation iPod nano won't charge and when i connect it, it shows up charging then the screen goes black and wont work. Can i get it replaced for a new one? or a different one? What can i do?

    Try these steps listed below.
    1. Run “c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc” (i.e. *Device Manager*), and leave it open for now for later use
    2. Start up iTunes
    3. Next, connect your iPod.
    4. Go to your iPod Settings and select the “Enable disk use” option from under theSummary tab.
    5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you’ll need to manually eject. Go ahead and hit OK
    6. Hit Apply to save changes to the iPod
    7. Quickly switch to the Device Manager window and right-click on any item within the window and select “Scan for hardware changes”
    8. Finally, switch back to iTunes, and try re-syncing your iPod to see if it helped.
It might not also hurt to trash your iPod's Photo cache if it has one (i.e. you sync photos to the iPod).  See this article for information on where to find this folder on your Windows XP machine.

  • TA44551 My iPod nano won't charge.

My iPod nano won't charge.  It's only 2 months old.  I've tried using two different computers (direct connect - no USB hub, Windows 7) as well as a wall plug.  Checked the nano port for dirt.  Don't have a second cord.

Two possibilities that i can think of:
One- Your charger isn't working try getting a new one.
    or
Two- Your iPod needs a new battery. Take it into the apple store to have it fixed or replaced.

My iPod shuffle won't charge, it's not being detected by my computer and the red light is not showing when I charge it and I'm confused how you restart the ipod please help

Fix: disconnect ipod from computer. switch the on/off switch to off and wait TEN seconds. After that, turn it back on and it should come on. It still may need charging. Make sure all cables are properly connected and plug it in to charge. Please reply if it worked. :P

  • IPod Photo won't charge with Power Adapter but charges through Computer....

Hi got this problem... searched the discussion board but didn't find any satisfying answers.
Hope somebody can help me out here.
    Problem description:
My iPod photo won't charge using the power adapter from Apple. Bought a second one won't work, used different cables won't work either.
however it does charge via the USB port of the computer.
And it also charges via the car stereo plug (forgot the real name but it's from the apple store).
So does anybody have a similar problem? Could it be the iPod that is defective and also destroyes the Power Adapter maybe?
didn't try a different iPod to charge yet. So that's one thing left to try for verification.
untill then maybe somebody knows help, and it might be just a little setting thing.
    Thanks for the Help

    hi Rene!
hmmmm. it sounds like you've already tried most of the things listed on these documents:
    iPod's battery doesn't charge
iPod: Troubleshooting the Apple iPod AC Adapter
iPod: About the Apple iPod Power Adapter
from what you're reporting, i'm currently most suspicious of the electrical outlets you're using with those adapters. if you try switching it to a different outlet, does it charge properly then?

  • My ipod shuffle won't charge after not being charged for a month... did the battery officially died?

my ipod shuffle won't charge after not being charged for a month... did the battery officially die?

maybe you can control the room temperature.... i try to charge iPod shuffle beside the mini fan, so heat from shuffle can blown away... or maybe, you can charge the iPod in Air Conditioned room....
i think this device have a mechanism to cut off the charging process if device temperature too hot. such a safety system so this ipod won't burn out when overcharging.
i hope it can help you...
    and trust me IT WORKS....
