Dodgy Font in Google Chrome BrowserLab
Hi All
I have an issue with the font being significantly different to all the other browsers in Google Chrome BrowserLab. I am novice so please forgive my ignorance, but I've been doing some research and I've downloaded font files like 'ChunkFive', but the when using this the font is really bold and thick. So I've been trying to use it in combination with my original font of 'Verdena, Arial, Helvitica, Sans-Serif' but I've had no luck.
If anyone can help me urgently I would be most grateful.
Thanks
Vincent
*cough* Well... you can ignore that specific issue that we're showing for Chrome, yes, but I wouldn't just ignore BrowserLab
The odd thing we're trying to figure out right now is that it looks fine in Chrome on the desktop, but our QE person took a screenshot of that to send to show me, and the screenshot ended up with the same font fuzziness, so the screenshot she got actually looked different from what was in the browser. We're going to investigate further, but at this point it looks like it may be a problem in Chrome itself.

How to make firefox render fonts as google-chrome does? (screenshot)
How do I make firefox render fonts as google chrome does as shown in screenshot? (Chrome below and firefox above)
Notice for instance the dash "/", "Explore", "Features" etc and the text at the bottom "added git_fixes".
I'm no expert but is it antialiasing that makes the difference? Cause it seems the font is the same, right?

I have ttf-win7-fonts installed, and also recently I've installed Infinality (haven't configured it, necessary?).
Advice appreciated.bleach wrote:

ya looking at your picture I do see the diff. but I do not have that pixelation in my firefox.
.Xresources has nothing to do with gtk
I do want to let sites choose their own fonts though.
When I look closely on my screenshot I wonder if it's even the same font though (the "3" looks very different).
Perhaps that's where the problem lies.
If I force firefox to use Arial, it looks good. If I set it to Helvetica which seems to be the font used, it looks like in the screenshot - pixelated.
$ fc-match helvetica

Seems it doesn't use truetype (helvetica.ttf?) as default font for helvetica - shouldn't it? -
How to make the fonts in Firefox sharper so there more like the fonts in Google Chrome?
I'm currently in the process of moving from Google Chrome to Firefox, and I noticed that the fonts in Firefox are allot more smoother then what they are in Google Chrome, is there anyway to make the Firefox fonts look as sharp as what the fonts are in Google Chrome?
This article has some suggestions for fixing bad-looking fonts: '''[[Fonts look blurry]]'''
There are also some improvements coming in Firefox 7, which is currently available for testing on the [http://www.firefox.com/channel Aurora channel]. (It will be released to the beta channel in a few days, and will become the new stable release six weeks from now.)
If you're interested in the technical details, [https://blog.mozilla.com/nattokirai/2011/08/11/directwrite-text-rendering-in-firefox-6/ this article] has some in-depth information and some more preferences you can tweak. -
TypeKit Fonts and Google Chrom
Type kit fonts are poorly dysplayed in chrom.
See image comperison of Chrom Firefox and Explorer. Top is chrome. Tt looks like there is no antialiasing in Chrom.
Message was edited by: oleg29Hi Oleg,
This is Ben from Typekit Support. I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. This is actually a known issue in Chrome for Windows. Right now, it's the one major browser on Windows that doesn't support DirectWrite, the most recent version of the font rendering engine for Windows.
That being said, we've reached out to the Chrome team and confirmed it's coming in a new release fairly soon. You can see here that it's in development now: http://www.chromestatus.com/features/4725550652325888
I know this doesn't solve the issue but I hope it helps shed some light on what's going on. Let me know if you have any further questions. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Cheers,

After installing CC, The font on some websites has changed in my browser Google Chrome. Help!
take for example facebook & ebay, the fonts have changed to a distorted block type font, very un-readable, Only after I installed adobe CC, this took place...
I am using google chrome
Can any one help me?
I have tried to fix it by tinkering with some settings in google chrome but had no luck!
here is a screenshot of the problem:Unless a web page uses a “web font” that it supplies itself, web pages typically provide a list of fonts, in priority order, of fonts to be used to render text. Typically, this list of fonts represents “system fonts” of MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android - fonts that can be counted on being installed. Helvetica Neue is a MacOS system font that is not typically found on Windows systems. And even if a user licenses recent versions of Helvetica Neue OpenType fonts and installs same on Windows systems, they are in the “Helvetica Neue Std” family which would not match “Helvetica Neue” which is native to MacOS. Thus, I suspect that the Helvetica Neue you have installed on Windows is an older font offering.
There are three issues here:
The first is that web pages provide a priority list for font usage. I suspect that the web pages you are seeing Helvetica Neue actually used on your system are requesting fonts in the order of Helvetica Neue and then Arial. The typical MacOS system would display the content with Helvetica Neue and the typical Windows system would display the content with Arial. Since you have Helvetica Neue on your system, you are getting rendering similar to what a MacOS system would have.
The second issue is that there is no way to force a web page to reverse the order of priority of the fonts it lists.
And finally, the third issue is that there is no way to hide a font selectively by application.
The only way you can avoid Helvetica Neue being used on web pages preferring Helvetica Neue to let's say Arial or any other font on its list for particular text rendering is to uninstall Helvetica Neue.
That having been said, other than perhaps personal type design preferences, are there any other issues with regards to use of Helvetica Neue for display of these web pages?

Thank you Sanjit,
I have redone the site using using the font TREBUCHET. The font that I was using that was giving me the problem was EXO which is an Adobe Edge Web font. I'd rather use EXO... Here is a screen shot of a sample page, areas where the type looks especially messed up are circled in red.
This only happens when opened in Google Chrome on a Windows PC. However it looks fine with Chrome on my MAC.

Google Chrome displaying incorrect fonts
I have just downloaded google chrome for the first time and tested a site I have built in it, and all the fonts are times/serif style when I have created the style sheet to have ariel/helvetice/sans serif as the default body font.
Every other browser I have tested my site in has displayed the correct fonts - even dare I say it - Internet Explorer seems to be doing a great job! So why not chrome? Having looked for some rational reason, I decided to come here, using chrome as my browser, and it was then that I noticed that the adobe site which is normally sans serif is displaying serif fonts!!
Why?
Here's a link to the site:
http://www.matthewstuartdesign.co.uk/tandr/
Thanks.
MatOh bless you... are you and your hefty walleted father in-law really that naive to believe this is a live website?
I am in the process of constructing the site, and as a result, I need to test it on a testing server rather than on my client's live domain! Occasionally, one has problems that one cannot seem to overcome without a little guidance from others who are able to help, which is obviously why you have joined this forum. If one does have problems, then you will without question be asked to show an example of the site and its code before you even get a relevant and constructive response. That's all you are looking at
As you rightly point out, the product range is missing images. If you actually bothered to look at the code, you would see that the source is blank, and secondly, if you read the text below each, you would see that all four are identical. Why would I bother to do that on a live site? You will also see that there are other parts of the site that I am yet to build, or if they are built, then I need to populate them with something other than dummy content. There is so much lorem ipsum across the site that I find it hard to believe anybody would consider this to be a finished product!
Look at what you have just judged and you will realise that there are so many clues that this isn't a complete site. The domain I have asked people to look at is under the name of matthew stuart design, and if you bothered to look at the top level of the domain, you'll quickly discover I am a graphic and web designer. I do not supply generators to markets (which are clearly indicated), such as the military where they generate electrical power to war torn regions to aid in the rebuild of that which has been destroyed... I don't supply the medical sector where stand-by power is required just in case there is a power failure during open-heart surgery.
If you studied the content of the wibiya bar, you would see that it refers to me as a designer, and my approach is a friendly one. However, at the moment I don't feel particularly friendly. Every job I have done has fulfilled my clients needs, but not only that, it has also fulfilled the requirements of my client's clients'. The wibiya bar is simply there as an example to my customers... I don't even have it on my live site!
What you have posted is totally out of line. The client I am building this site for has an exceptional name in their industry, and if your father in-law was in the market of buying a power generator, then I recommend them highly, and they will be able to build him something that suits his budget. If your father in-law requires a website, then I suggest he use somebody with experience, and that would be me, or any number of other experienced members of this forum.
So, your father in-law has made an incorrect judgement - leading me to question if he applies the same analytical processes to his million pound budget, OR, it's more than likely you have misled him due to your own naivety, and if that is the case, then I apologise for my previous comment about his capabilities.
If you're going to insult me, make sure you get your ducks in a row before-hand. Making such a comment could spread like a virus ruining my clients reputation... that's not just A BIG NO NO, it is hugely irresponsible!
By the way, I don't sell paper clips, but I've had a box full of them for more than 10 years and I don't use them; you can have them free of charge... you'll just need to pay for the postage! -
Google Chrome PDF viewer displays different fonts
When I design a document in either Indesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop I use many custom fonts. I export my PDF's as optimized as possible for web viewing from the layout program itself.
I don't stop there. I open my exported PDF in Acrobat and optimize the file further using the Optimize PDF tool. I flatten everything out, but I keep my fonts embedded. When I drag and drop the file in Google Chrome or Firefox the fonts change. I get some cheap looking serif font instead of my slab serif. I've tried unembedding the font as well and I get the same result.
What gives?
I just want to make sure this isn't something I'm doing wrong. What's weird is it happens in Firefox/Chrome, but it doesn't happen in Safari.
Firefox/Chrome PDF viewer:
Safari PDF viewer:Interesting.
However, as what each of these browsers does to render a PDF is dictated by the respective coding discussions of that would have to take place each browsers "developer space".
Nothing there is controlled by Adobe eh.
Be well... -

Indic fonts not showing only in Google Chrome
I have installed the infinality-bundle-fonts. Thus unicode characters show up well in Firefox and other applications. But (indic) fonts are still not shown in Google Chrome.
Firefox | Chrome
I have tried re-installing Google Chrome.
# fc-match :lang=hi

The snippet to check the font was from infinality thread
ondoho wrote:from your scrots i see that ff and chrome are using different fonts.
Yeah, you are right. Chrome was using windows fonts by default and had not imported the default system-font settings.
I updated the default fonts in Chrome from:
Settings >> Advanced Settings >> Web Content >> Customize fonts
ondoho wrote:why are you not using chromium? chrome is google proprietary, chromium is foss.
I have been using Chrome mainly due to the PDF and flash integration. But after your post I checked the Arch Wiki which provided the workarounds for (better) PDF integration.
ondoho wrote:have you checked the wiki (the entry for chrome redirects to chromium. i suppose this means the setup is the same)?
I re-went through the Infinality and Chromium wikis and installations. I also installed a few additional fonts. One of them seems to have solved the problem and I can view the indic fonts now.
Thanks for the leads, they were helpful.

Google Chrome showing sites in Bold font (after deleting MS Office 2011)
Hey guys,
Seen a few threads about this but i haven't been able to really find a solution for myself.
I deleted MS Office 2011 a few days ago and ever since Google Chrome has been showing a lot of websites in Bold font, i resolved all duplicates in my Font Book and still nothing.
Thanks in advanceOffice 2011 installs a bunch of fonts that conflict with those installed by OS X. Read section 3 of Font Management in OS X to see which to remove, and which to keep.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link. -
Why Muse local fonts not view Google Chrome?
Hi
I made Adobe Muse web site and I used local fonts.
The website perfect viewing Apple Safari browser with fonts. But Google Chrome not showing local fonts.
Is it bug? Have fix it?It doesn't look like the WOFFs were uploaded. I get a (404) Not Found error for http://www.habitattravel.com.tr/fonts/gotham-bold.woff
Did you use Muse to upload to FTP host or used an external FTP client?

HP LASERJET CP1525nw print error when printing online Gmail emails with Google Chrome
HP LASERJET CP1525nw print error when printing online Gmail emails with Google Chrome. Extra large font sizes and weird formatting issues only when printing emails from Gmail within Chrome. No problems when printing the same email from Gmail+Internet Exolorer or Thunderbird. Using the IE Tab extension in Chrome prints the email correctly but the style of Gmail's message window is completely weird ie: formatting bar is spread out vertically instead of horizontally. I believe it is clear that this is an application specific issue between the HP LASERJET CP1525nw printer and Google Chrome + Gmail. This printing scenario does not occur when printing anything else or when printing via another printer. I would appreciate receiving any suggestions to solve this issue.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Browser: Google Chrome 15
HP Print driver: HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 v5.4.0
Printer is connected by WiFi to 4 computersHi AbZu,
You need to contact Google Chromes technical support as this is only an issue with Chrome. You have indicated that the printer functions correctly everywhere else. Check out the link below for Google Chrome technical support. Let me know if you need additional assistance?

After performing the OS X 10.10.2 update, OpenGL applications, for example Starry Night Pro fail to run, there are numerous windows update/refresh problems (incomplete refresh, remnants of window/frame borders), and some applications, for example Google Chrome are unusable, as cursor motion in the application window causes the display to flash horizontal bars in the window.
I've tried a variety of things, including downloading the most current release of Xcode, turning on/off transparency in Accessibility, graphics switching, and a few other things, but the problem persists.
The App Store display behaves similarly. I am running a MacBook Pro.
