Does 2950 switch support IP SLA ?

Hi,
I am trying to implement IP SLA.
Can I implement it on layer2 switches?
Regards
skrao

The Cisco 2950 switches seem to suport legacy RTR (Response Time Reporter) NOT IP SLA. SLA has been called various titles during its evolution to SLA. The feature comparison chart below states IP SLA is NOT availalbe on the 2950.
http://packetlife.net/wiki/feature-comparison-catalyst-2950-2960-3550-3560/
Indeed I cannot access IP SLA as a cmd  under either 12.1(14)EA1a or 12.1(22)EA13 on the 2950 switches I have available! IP SLA is however available on the 3550 switches I am running!
I suggest it may well be the case that the 2950s use the RTR command instead.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/fun/command/reference/cfrgt_10.html
Information generally though  for RTR is scarce, because I suggest of Search Engine 'bleed' referencing RTR as 'Router'!
My advice is to explore RTR

...work with what is availalable rather than dwelling on what is not, or choose to revise just the theory...if your need is mostly for exams.
The good news is ALS1|(config)#RTR responder
...reportedly works just as well as #ip sla responder

  • Does SRW224G4 switch supports IEC61850 Protocol?

Does SRW224G4 switch supports IEC61850 Protocol?

    Hi,
Please correct me if I am wrong, but that protocol you speak of, is more for power  control type networks.
For my own education, I was trying to check any reference to the protocol and came up virtually blank, all i could see was, like most protocols or proprietary protocols  these days, they can  run encapsulated inside a standard Ethernet frame?  Looks like the seimens folks help create this protocol  and some other manufacturers have jumped on that band wagon.
Maybe the question almost could be, does IEC6150 protocol hosts interface or run over  standard Ethernet switches.  If that answer is yes, then the SRW224G4 can support that protocol over Ethernet.  But i'm guessing seimens may have tied switch management into the protocol.
Would you be so kind and  have a word to the supplier of IEC6150 equipement and pose the question to him/her, if their equipement can run over stock standard ethernet switchs that support, jumbo frame technology,  fiber SFP's  and VLAN technology ?  I suspect you may be locked into a limited number of suppliers.

  • ACS and brocade switch support!!!!

    Hi Experts,
    I have two queries:-
    1) Does Broacade switch supports ACS ?
    2) I am trying to configure a Brocade switch to get Radius authentification on an ACS server. But get the user right and not a admin right ?
Can you please tell me how do i assign the admin right for brocade switch??
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Neha.

    Hi,
Follow these instructions even if the ACS is already running in detailed logging mode. This will ensure that all the proper service startup information is included in the package.cab file.
System Configuration --> Service Control --> Level of detail - Full At this point, we need to duplicate the issue.
Do whatever is causing the problem, or wait for the problem to occur again if it's not triggered by a direct sequence of events. Once that's done, we need to gather the verbose logs created. To do so, follow the instructions below AFTER the problem has been recreated and recorded:
System Configuration --> Support -->Enable generate logs and Collect last x day logs and Collect Log Files
Run Support Now. Please save this file and unzip it. You will see a file called rds.log
This file contains all of the log information from ACS.

  • Does the ME3400 switch support MDI/MDI-x autocross

Does the ME3400 switch support MDI/MDI-x autocross? I recently experienced  a situation where when the switch was set to a fixed 100 Full duplex and the outboard device selected the wrong pair, they would never link.
Is MDI/MDI-x only supported on auto-negotiation?

  • Does 2950 have QoS?

I have many VLANs running on my 2950 switch, one VLAN is our regional network, is it possible it put QoS on this VLAN so I can prorities what traffic is more important?
Also can ports be blocked on a 2950?

    Hi,
The 2950 does support QoS, but there are some important limitations - you cannot apply policies on a per-VLAN basis, for example. QoS policies have to be applied to physical interfaces and will apply to all traffic over that interface.
Pls also see the following link for port-based traffic control:

  • SNMP on Catalyst 2950 switch - possible?

How can I add SNMP to my Catalyst 2950 switch? and what will this give me with regards to network monitoring etc. A lot of my networks go through this device and I what to get stats on port etc. I really hope you can help here.

    Hi Chandru,
Here's what you should do. Firstly, go to the following site which will give you a list of MIBs supported on the 2950:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800d84cc.html
Then, open up the Cisco SNMP Object Navigator at:
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en
Within that, click on 'View and Download MIBs' and then select the MIBs you are interested in to download/view them.
As an example, you can get counters on memory pools from the CISCO-MEMORY-POOL-MIB
Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
    Regards,
    Paresh.

  • Maintaining clock settings on a 2950 switch?

I have set up external NTP synchronization on a 2950 switch which works fine while the switch is powered on. However if the switch is cycled with a "reload" command, the time established is way off once the switch comes back up. Is this the expected behaviour?
    Thanks.

    BTW:
Also sometimes difficult finding mention whether the hardware supports an on-board calendar. I've found using the ntp update-calendar both often a fast method to help in determining this, and a great way to keep the calendar accurate across reboots/reloads (if you're using NTP).

  • Does the WRT310N support jumbo frames?

    Greetings one and all.
Does anyone know if the WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit Router support jumbo frames?  I have a Buffalo Linkstation Mini NAS that contains a Gigabit Ethernet card.  The NAS can support jumbo frames provided the switch it's connected to has the capability.
    Thanks

I did a live sesion with the tech support desk
The WRT320N does have hardware support for Jumbo Frames.
Only on the Firmware (Software Side) it's not enabled yet what can easy be done by the Linksys/Cisco development team.

  • Switch support for NAC CCA for 6500 series switch

per the 4.0 document "switch support for Cisco NAC" there is a note that says
Catalyst 6000/6500 on IOS do not support mac-notification
Does this mean you cannot deploy layer 2 OOB mode, as snmp notification to the CAM will not happen with the 6k platform?

Probably, the configuration guide will give you better idea about your problem.

  • Does Solution Manager support Service Report for non-abap?

Does Solution Manager support Service Report for non-abap?
We can schedule and view reports for ABAP but for all the non-ABAP such as J2EE stack (PORTAL) we can not pull out a report.
If the answer is yes please let me know where I can get the documentation of how to setup SLA for PORTAL or non-ABAP.
I found a document on EWA non-abap but non for SLA.

    Hi
actually i am in task of setting up ewa for portal.
i had already done with abap components (ewa and sla)
i stronly believe one of the pre-requiste to get sla is EWA.
so i think if u can setup ewa for portal then you can get sla too.

    Vijay.

  • Catalyst 2950 Switch flash_init error

    Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Cisco products and have a small home lab set up. I have a Catalyst 2950 switch that I would like to restore to factory defaults. Here is the issue I'm having and can't figure out.
I pull the power, telnet into the console port, hold the mode button and restore power. The boot loader (Version 12.1(11r) starts and says the usual message the system was interrupted prior to flash initialization (Paraphrasing here)
I get to the switch: command line, enter flash_init. Flash states it initialized and then all I get is a < with an underscore under it prompt. Anything I try to type comes up as bizarre characters and I can not get back to a switch: prompt unless I reboot the switch manually. Unsure of what to do here.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi mattymattlynch
Check the workaround on the following documents:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-2950-series-switches/41845-192.html
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2950/software/release/12-1_22_ea11x/configuration/guide/scg/swtrbl.html
If no luck , the flash might be corrupted and requires a replacement.
    Hope this helps

  • Does sge 2010 support Routing Information Protocol (RIP) ?

Hi, I would like to know if the sge2010 switch support Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and if so how do I enable it. I have a small wireless router that support it and would like client connected on it te bo visible from the wan side and that worked when I had another device doing the routing with RIP support the wireless router was picking up that information and the routing for the wireless client was working.
    Thanks !

thanks, thats a shame that a 80$ wireless router support that function and a 1000$+ switch doesn't
