Does 3 in one really go? Broadband drops when BT V...

Hi, I don't believe I have always suffered from this, but recently if a call is made on the phone my broadband drops. More often than not I am also on BT vision watching On Demand...
Is it a struggle to have all 3 on the go at one time? Or is something else afoot?
Mike

Possibly internal wiring issue.
Which type of master socket do you have?
One of these
Or one of these
Or if you are lucky

  • H55M-P31 has a really bad vcore drop when overclocking

    Hello,
I have bought the next setup:
    I7 860
    H55M-P31
    4 gigs of kingston hyper-x
    simple basic vga
    550 Watt OCZ psu
The cpu is watercooled and temps are fine.
Now the problem I have is that the v-core is really unstable. It can drop 0.2v ( 1.35v ) set in bios when I'm starting to run Linx or what ever stress tool.
Offcourse such a big diffrence my cpu doesn't like and it chrashes.
The more vcore I give the worse the drop gets. Is there a solution as I didn't see anything in bios to help me out.
It would be great if someone can point me in the right direction.

    It can drop 0.2v
After looking in the downloadable manual for your board, unfortunately, I didn't see a VDroop Control or CPU Load Line Calibration option in the bios Cell Menu. It's not an apples & apples comparison, but with the i7 series 1366 socket, about the worst I ever saw for VDroop was 0.012V's on any of my X58 boards. 0.2V's seems pretty far out of a reasonable acceptable level to me. Hopefully someone will come along with some helpful advice or suggestions.

  • Serious Mac Problem : Why does my mac went really slow and then when I want to re-open it, it won't let me

Yesterday I was working on my computer.
I was about to start a new text on word.
Suddently, the mac keeps on showing me the circle with all the colours for a lot of times.
Then after what maybe 5 or 10 minutes, it got stuck there.
I couldn't do anything except to shut it down or to wait.
So I closed the computer and I came back the other day to see if it wasn't just a little problem.
I open the mac and the Apple sign showed up and I had to wait for atleast 1h so here I am wondering if my computer is broken or just really old to work properly.
If anyone of you knows what's going with my mac or if you ever had that type of problem with your computer and you know how to deal with it,
    please help me out.
    thank you in advance

  • Broadband Dropping

My Broadband drops when I receive a phone call, this is a pain because I very often need to access my computer when I receive calls. I have reported it to BT in the past and they have supposed to have fixed it but it still goes on. This problem has been going on for a long time and I need to get it sorted, I am on Infinity 2 with a Home hub 4. Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Gary

When you say they have supposedly fixed it, have you had an engineer come to your house?

  • Does one really need 3G if they already have a cell phone

Does one really need an iPad with 3G if they allready have a cell phone.

It depends on the situation. For some people, they may either not need the iPad to connect to the Internet when away from WIFi, or have an Internet-capable smartphone and can tether the iPad to the phone to use the data connection and don't mind carrying both. For others, that's either not possible or not practical, or they wish to have the GPS only available in the 3G iPad, not the WiFi-only iPad.
If you're asking whether you need 3G in an iPad, we can't guess without having more information about your needs.
    Regards.

...unfortunately I lost power over the new year period so I only have two weeks data at present, however, I did have a period of about 60 days showing the same pattern. That's 60 days of disconnecting once a day or so. Surely this isn't "normal"?
Before anyone says it - yes, I have changed to the master socket, changed microfilters, etc etc. None of it makes any difference, nor can I detect any pattern in the dropouts. Any thoughts / help much appreciated.

It may be that the connections are dropping when the router is first used after a long period of inactivity? Those errors are still creeping up...
No - it isn't connected to the test socket at the moment, I suppose you are going to say move it and see if this still happens? I will try a bit later but it didn't make a difference last time I moved it.

  • Broadband Drop Outs

    Hey guys
    Looking for some advice.
Currently living in a house with BT Infinity (its rented so I'm not the bill payer), when Infinity was installed everything worked fine - no problems at all.
Recently however (and I'm not convinced something hasn't been damaged by the building site directly opposite the house) we get constant broadband drop outs. Interestingly it also does appear to get worse during heavy rain.
Our BT Home Hub is a Home Hub 2.0 (I think), firmware version shows as:
    Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 (Type A)
The hub and the other white box have been restarted many times, it doesn't make a difference.
Since we started having issues, to rule out this being a WiFi related issue, I have a linux netbook attached directly to the Home Hub via Ethernet cable to run tests on. The majority of the time, the connection is fine (and we get a 100% ping return), however we appear to go through prolonged periods of losing about 50% of all pings on my tests. During these period, no computers on the network appear to be able to load any pages from the internet, but pings to the hub are always 100% (unless the hub was being restarted by one of us).
To keep tabs on things, I ran a tracert to www.google.co.uk and then scraped all of the nearby IPs from it (so the first few hops). Using that, I wrote a quick bash script to send out pings and then record to a text file anytime they fail. For anyone who is interested the bash script being used is here: http://pastebin.com/uEycEpdy
The output from the bash script after running all weekend is here:
    19/01/14 (running from midday): http://pastebin.com/mtc5Euu0
    20/01/14 (ending at 5:30pm) 1: http://pastebin.com/xnScepvy 2: http://pastebin.com/XQRk9eWW
It's ultimately weird! Its also worth noting that all of the lights on the Hub remain blue even when the connection is dead on the computers. It does appear during the issues the netbook can't even ping the first IP address (first hop) after our hub so wondering if it is a line issue (although the line checker on the website says its fine).
Any ideas? Since BT won't talk to me and we don't have a landline phone to test if there is a dial tone I'm wondering it anyone has any suggestions? Currenty bugging the landlord to sort it but you know what they are like!
    Many thanks!

  • Does Apple's One-Year Warranty cover dents in the back?

My friend has a huge dent in the back of his iPod and we're pretty sure it's causing it not to work, does Apple's one year warranty cover it?

I don't think that would be covered cause it sounds like they dropped it on concrete. cause that is the only was the iPod will dent.

Does the iPhone 5 really need a case? ive been reading articles that says it doesn't, opinions please...

In that case (no pun intended), you may not need one. I agree, it does look and feel better without the case.  I bought a clear case so it still shows off the design, but the problem is the case itself scratches easily.
It's your call. But I would say, if you are not worried about dropping the phone (with AppleCare+, a replacement is only $49 as you may know), you do not absolutely need a case.

  • Dropping broadband connection when receiving phone...

I am sick of BT's inability to fix my problem. You will see below a description of events which at the heart of it reflects an organisation which seems unable to organise itself effectively, lacks the skills and knowledge for problem solving and offers a poor level of customer service. It's a long and sorry story which has dragged on for months and to date is not resolved. Take a deep breath and read on ..........................
We had intermittent problems with our broadband which were diagnosed as bad cabling between the road and our house, we had our front garden dug up and new cables laid to the house. All seemed well and we were getting a reasonable connection speed of about 8 - 9 mbps, we started noticing that things were not right when net surfing became erratic with drop outs of connection and my sons PS3 kept reporting network errors in online games.
We reported this to BT who after all the usual diagnosis checks, change filters, plug router into test socket, unplug all other devices but problem still there so in the end another engineer came and replaced all the cabling inside the house including new sockets and a built in filter main socket.
The problems remained and one day I realised that the broadband dropped out when we received incoming phone calls. I reported this to BT who said it's probably a hardware fault and they sent a new router, (bt homehub) same problems remained. At this time our speed dropped to 5 meg which BT claimed was all I should get where I was located even though I had been getting up to 10 meg before problems started.
Tried to get an engineer out again and had 2 appointments where BT engineer didn't come. Eventually one came while I was out, did a quick test on the line and said it was fine.
Called again and this time they sent a Voyager modem to interface between the BB connection and the homehub which now just acted as wireless router. At this point I asked if the BT hardware was of sufficient quality and suggested that it was not - to which I got the response "that's what BT supply sir".
Thought problem had gone but then same issues came back, lost BB connection on incoming phone calls, by this point I was finding it very hard to keep my temper, we can't upset the call centre staff can we? During this time BT kept closing faults claiming the problem was sorted without ever checking if I was happy which I was NOT!.
So I did some research online and was informed that the most reliable and stable modem/router I could get was a d-link DSL-2740R so I bought one and installed it in desperation. Fault still there, But connection speed has started to improve and much better wireless signal around house so not a complete waste of money.
This week an engineer finally came and having declared everything fine I asked him to make phone calls while testing and sure enough signal dropped out, having unpluged everything our end he found the fault still present an at last beleived there was a problem at the exchange, three hours later I was informed that the fault was due to faulty boards there end which were replaced and at last the fault seemed cured.
But once again broadband is dropping out, not as often and not during incoming calls, just randomly.
So that's where I am, Problem has not been cured, BT have yet another fault open. I have lost hundreds of pounds in lost earnings when engineers didn't come dozens of phone calls to the "We're very busy at the moment helpdesk" and no one is interested in getting the problem resolved. I couldn't even complain because the number I was given to report a complaint was wrong.
So this is a final plea - I need BT to fix this problem. Seemingly it's never the individuals fault - the lady in the call centre, the engineer, the bloke who dug up my garden but equally nobody within BT is prepared / able to take ownership of this and see it through. Make no mistake BT - THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM. I am looking for you to respond to this letter, appoint someone to take ownership and set out for me the steps that will be taken to resolve these issues.

Notwithstanding your frustrations, it sounds like you have the worst kind of problem to solve.
And in fact BTO have already gone a long way in an effort to resolve it, unsuccessfully.
When the phone drops the broadband, it can be caused by many things ...
High resistance line fault, line joint corrosion, split pair problem, bad filters, dslam card .... and so on.
It's one of those things that's difficult to find, and so far you've had a rewire, NTE filtered faceplate, new
dropwire, and probably a jdsu of the metallic path, back to the frames.
Sometimes the fault will be there, sometimes not.
They are often something silly, like water in a line box, or other resistance causing problem.
I had a similar situation myself a while ago ... but sometimes it does take time to resolve, and often after
everything else has been tried.  Just re-open the fault, and report back that it's still there, it will be fixed
eventually. It may need a tie pair mod at the exchange ... line cards are always last .   (£££££s)

  • Using the phone makes my broadband drop out

    Hi
Ever since BT have done some work at the exchange, I am experiencing problems with my broadband dropping out when the phone is used.
I have reset the hub and I have a filter on the phone line as it enters the house.
Has anyone any more ideas I can try?
    Thanks

if you have changed the filter and moved the phone if dect further away from hub - does broadband drop on incoming or outgoing calls or both?

  • The file to download the app for Android is not working from my phone--it says that the file isn't there. However it does see the one for the Iphone (even though it can't use it). I'm very computer literate and am pretty sure the problem is on your end.

The file to download the app for Android is not working from my phone--it says that the file isn't there. However it does see the one for the Iphone (even though it can't use it). I've tried it multiple times and continue to get the same message: "NOT FOUND The requested item could not be found". I also tried through the Market application on the phone but ended-up with the same result.
I'm very computer literate and am pretty sure the problem is on your end. If this is the case then no one can download the app. I considered that perhaps because it's still in Beta that it was removed due to some other type of software issue. I would really like to use Firefox on my new Droid (2.0); when with this be available?

Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.
Or, if you have a supported phone, you can download the app directly by typing this address into your phone's browser: http://bit.ly/fxbeta3
(Note: To download the app directly for an AT&T phone, you will have to search for instructions on "sideloading" the APK file, since AT&T disables the option to install from non-Market sources.)

  • Broadband drops out way too much!

I would like to know how BT justify their price hikes. I am now paying nearly £50 a month (basic) for phone and broadband, they can't even give a decent service! I AM SICK of my internet dropping out about 15 times a day! I had nothing but trouble with BT when I first signed up and it hasn't got any better. Why am I paying for unlimited broadband if they can't supply it? I have two laptops and an xbox. The xbox is wired, whereas the laptops are both wireless. But as soon as a combination of them are on, the connection is rubbish and speed is terrible. Sometimes it even drops when just one device is connected to the internet! I'm tired of seeing the "BT Hub not working" site and I am definately tired of my xbox live gaming experience being ruined by constant lagging and even being booted from games due to the drop outs! BT need to sort out their service because VERY SOON they will be told where to go..... Without getting a penny!

£50.00 a month for phone and broadband, someone is stitching you up or you make a lot of chargeable calls.
Previous bills for Unlimited calls, and BT Infinity Option 2 Unlimited:
    29.49
    29.87
    26.15
    28.65
    29.00
add to these the monthly equivalent of the Line saver rental £10 a month
As for your wireless connection, a lot can be down to the type of house construction you have.
I see from your post that this is the 1st post you have made. Why not post ypour hub stats on here so members can see if there is a problem that might be easily sorted.
Also do a BT speedtest ( wired if possible ).
You say you are using some wireless eqipment, are they all Wireless N capable, or are some b/g.
you can try a download of inssider2 for PC or istumbler for MAC users and then run it. This will then show you the broadcasting networks close to yours and their channels including your own. You can then enter your Routers admin pages and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
    Google search inssider2 or istumbler
Please post back, there are many members who are willing to give some advice to try and sort your problems out.

  • Broadband drops every few hours

My broadband drops out every few hours and takes me between 5 - 15 minutes to reconnect.
I have good speed (for here! about 1.3mb down) and this doesn't change but the connection drops at least 5 times a day. It's been doing this for at least 3 months. Sometimes it does just run very slow, but mostly it drops altogether.
The only way to get it working again is to turn off the router and turn it on again, then after anything from 5 - 15 minutes for it to reconnect.
It happens to all the computers we have connected, all via wireless, some mac some pc on Win 7.
    Can anyone help please?

I will try changing the filter and cable, I may have tried this a while ago but will again.
Quite line has very very slight crackle but I don't think it's anything, we live a long way down the line in the coutryside and I never had better.
Not dropped completly since last night
but this is last activity showing how it's connecting, not sure what the fails mean..

  • Firefox does not allow me to drag and drop files on FTP site anymore. It used to work before.

Hi. I have a Linux FTP server at a client's office. They used to use IE and I moved them to firefox. They could at one stage, drag and drop (upload) files and documents using only firefox and not a third party software. Somehow this stop working. Is there any setting in firefox that can be changed in order to allow drag and drop without using a third party software? This client is very fussy and does not want to use third party software, as the drag and drop worked before. This is their argument.

1- of course i know i have to accept the change, i just don't recall specifically whether or not iPhoto itself was one of the recent updates i accepted. lol
2-this is not true - a few years back, it was a 2 step process. Then it changed with one of the upgrades, and i have been able (as long as i selected 4x3 *book* as opposed to 4x3 *dvd*) to drag between orientations for the past few years - at LEAST 2 years, maybe as many as 4 (I lose track). I remember thinking at the time what a wonderful upgrade that was because it did away with all that needless clicking. Now all of a sudden this month, it has been switched off - am I the only one who has noticed this?
I have been creating an annual 'family photo album' book via iPhoto for several years now, and i use the 4x3 book sizing specifically for that reason, so I've got lots of experience using this setting. I *know* it used to work the other way.
