Does 760ga-p43 (fx) supports port multiplier for sata?

1) I have a 760ga-p43 (fx) and I couldn`t find anywhere if it supports port multiplier for sata.
Does someone have any idea?
2) I tried a delock 70146 and I couldn`t make it see also the sata on motherboards and the sata on the pci card. For lack of information on that msi "user guide" I tried any combination on AHCI, ide and sata, but it was a blind trying. It would be great a little help on what to look for.
Thanks,
Radu

  • Does the Envy 17 have Port Multiplier for eSATA?

I'm looking at buying a multiple bay drive enclosure like this or this. They both support USB or eSATA host connections, but naturally you get faster speeds with eSATA, but for the computer to recognize all drives, it says I need to have Port Multiplier. I've looked and looked and looked and can't really find anywhere that says whether the 17 does or doesn't. I'd also rather have a software controller rather than a hardware. Any help?
Edit: It has to be a FIS-based switching PM also

eSATA III is actually faster than USB 3.0, and that's assuming the enclosure I'm buying even has USB 3.0. On top of that, 3.0 doesn't even have that great of transfer speed. The fastest write I've had with my external HDD is around 90 Mb/s

Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?
And is there driver updates for anyone using the all-in-ones HP printers...has anyone been able to use their scanners since the update? and has the dual screen support been added to avoid the blue screen on startup?

The ATI Radeon 9600 PC/Mac edition 256 MB should work in the MDD G4. It has two DVI ports (one is dual-link and can support a 30" display). You will need adapters for ADC displays.

  • Does the SLM224G switch support port-based VLAN's?

I am looking for a simple solution to create two LAN's. One for my own and one for my customers, who will be able to use desktop PC's with internet access. I have only one internet connection (DSL over ISDN) and wil not getting another just for my customers.
My own network should not be accessible or visible to users who are using the customers-PC's. The other way around is allowed, but not really necessary. My setup requires me to hook up the switch to the (ISP) router, and that router just has one LAN port not able to do anything related to VLAN's.
I read about port-based VLAN's here, where it is stated that creating seperate LAN's is just putting ports into VLAN's on the switch, nothing else needs to be done... However, they used a NetGear smart switch.
I checked out Cisco's SLM224G as it is affordable, has 24 ports (instead of 8 for the NetGear) and should support VLAN's. I have read a lot about VLAN's, including:
"- Port-based VLAN's means that you can reconfigure ports to be in different VLAN's. Port-based VLAN's do not confirm 802.1q VLAN support.
    - 802.1q VLAN's means that you can tag VLAN's with 802.1q headers to create a trunk between two devices that carries frames for multiple VLAN's. 802.1q VLAN's confirm that there is also Port-based VLAN support."
I known from the spec sheets that the SLM224G supports 802.1q (tagged) trunking. So it should, given found text above, also support port-based VLAN's.
My question is whether it indeed will support port-based VLAN's?
Am I able to use it directly behind my ISP's router and create two seperate LAN's?
If so, one extra question: how are the PC's behind the switch (inside the two VLAN's) get their IP-adresses from the ISP-router? Or will it service only one of the two LAN's and should I install a DHCP-server in the other LAN?
    Any information is very welcome!
    Thank you.

Thanks for your responce, mr. Carr.
I have read more about vlan's and their setup. I think the article about port based vlan's was lacking some information about the router/firewall. May be it was set up to work with different vlan's from the start. Strangely, in the text it is said that nothing needs to be set up besides the (Netgear) vlan-capable switch.
So, from your response and other texts I learned I needed a vlan-capable router. I have to say that I need to be able to manage a server on the LAN from the outside (internet). I already tried to set up a Cisco/Linksys WRT54G router behind the ISP's (ZyXel) single LAN-ported router and that would not work at all (even when the Linksys was set in router-mode). I lost the connection to internet setting it up that way. I even tried to setup the Linksys in the DMZ of the ZyXel, with no luck. I was unable to set that up with working internet-access form the LAN. So I was not too happy with the suggestion to set up a (second) vlan-capable gigabit router behind the ISP's router....
Eventually, I bridged the ZyXel to get rid of the double NAT/gateway mode of the two routers as routing mode did not work on the Linksys. The Linksys is now getting the WAN-ip from the ISP on it's WAN port and I furthermore used DD-WRT's firmware to enable the build-in vlan-capabilities of the Linksys.
Now I have set up the Linksys with two vlan's and I bought the SLM224G as an inexpensive manageable 24-port vlan-capable switch to provide the number of ports I needed. I devided the SLM in two vlan's and used two wires from the Linksys to the SLM. So the SLM does support port-based vlan's by simply setting up two ranges of ports with different PVID settings. Trunking and 802.1q tagging isn't needed that way. I know I could have used two dumb switches to get two separate subnetted networks, but this way I get just enough ports in a single device where I have ample space to put it.
Anyway, thanks for helping me understanding the way vlan-capable switches work.

    Hello,
I am building desktop pc with a msi 760GA-P43 (FX) and an amd fx-4300.
My os is going to be a windows 8.1.This os is going to be a problem in my setup? In the drivers, the bios, the hardware(hdd, sdd, gpu) or anything else?

I would recommend W7 as the only W8.1/8 drivers MSI has for that MB is for ASMEDIA SATA and no others. Personaly I would not use W8.1/8 for anything.

  • Does Satellite L855-10X supports an bay for a second HDD drive

Does L855-10X have one empty slot to add SSD disk, without removing actual HDD?

Im not L855 owner so I cannot say it for sure but from my experience such upgrade is not always possible
Here in the forum you could read some threads about similar themes and mostly this did not work.
The notebooks like Portege M400, M700, M750, Tecra M9,Tcera S1, Tecra S2, Tecra S3, Tecra S4, Tecra M1, M2 or M3 supports such select bay but never read about compatibility on Satellite unit.
So from my knowledge you would get an BIOS problem. The 2nd HDD would not be recognized or in worst case the notebook would not power On.

  • Does Crystal Enterprise X support IIS ISAPI for viewing a report

    Post Author: karthiknataraj
    CA Forum: Upgrading and Licensing
    Hi,
The Crystal Reports Web Component Server (Wcsinsapi.dll) is an Internet Service Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) compliant DLL. ISAPI is the programming interface that allows DLLs (like WCSinsapi.dll) to extend ISAPI compliant web servers functionality for processing HTTP requests. ISAPI DLLs are generally registered to handle HTTP requests for certain file types. This type of configuration is done by registering a file extension to the ISAPI DLL within IIS. For Crystal Reports the ".rpt" and ".cri" file extensions are registered to the Wcsinsapi.dll. Common behavior when the ISAPI registration is incorrect includes receiving an HTTP 500/501 error or being prompted to save to disk when trying to browse to a Crystal Report (.rpt file). This is supported by Crystal report 8.0 & I suppose the same in 9.0.
My questions are, is IIS ISAPI supported in Crystal Report X? Whether the RPT file can be launched in a browser with the parameters as query string (as in 8.0)? Why is the Wcsinsapi.dll not available in the crystal enterprise X installation?
I hope the answers to all the questions are, its deprecated. But I can't also find the documentation that clearly specified it is deprecated in crystal reports X. It would be greatly appreciated if any one can point to the documentation that specifically & clearly explains about this or correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks,
    Karthik

  • Why does muse not properly support alt tags for images?!?!

    Greetings,
I am fully aware that when you place an image on your site page, right click, click edit image properties, you can then create the title text (by writing the contents in the Tooltip box) and create Alt Text (by writing the contents in the Alternative text box).
What I cant get my head around is that when done, and published, most if not ALL seo checking programs (in my case  ravens-seo-tools) bring up an error that images are missing Title Text and Alt Text. Yes I have gone through every image on my site and have done everything I can do, that adobe has stated in their SEO Optimisation directions to ensure each image is properly optimised.
    Example:
As you can see, it appears my site has an unhealthy amount of image issues.
Looking at the third image above, an image on JEM Fulfilment Client Testimonial | Lin and Leo with the filename lin-and-leo-logo.jpg, the ravens seo tool program has picked up the ALT Text but has shows that their is no Title Text.
and looking at the image provided below you can see that I have filled out each part to ensure this image is optimised.
Can someone please explain, what is up with MUSE. Because I have been trying to figure out how to fix this situation for months and I havent been able to come up with any resolution.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards

It seems to be showing up in the source code.

  • Esata port multiplier explaination please

I am looking for some advice about an esata enclosure setup. I would like to move into a multiple drive array for FCP and would like to know how the port multiplier works.
I already have figured out that hardware RAID is superior to software RAID. My question is whether I can get an enclosure with the parts that handle the multiplying (I already have a newer technolgy extenders cable product), or whether I need both that and a card which handles the multiplying?
If someone could explain to me what I need, and hopefully how it works, it will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the response.
The extender cable plugs two cables directly to 2 unused sata ports directly on the logic board. http://www.newertech.com/products/esata_cable.php
I believe I have found out that it does NOT support port multiplier from within an enclosure - not exactly sure why. That came from a post on this forum http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10117571&#10117571
So then the question becomes, if I get a card like the Sonnet Tempo E2P (which does not have port multiplier) will I still benefit if I choose an enclosure which has an internal port multiplier? Or do I need both card AND enclosure - both with port multipliers???
    Thanks so much.

  • ESATA Port Multiplier-Is it installed

I have 2007 Mac Pro. I recently installed an eSATA port.
It works fine with a single eSATA drive connected.
Just today, I purchased a Thermaltake: Blac X Duet
    http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1346&ID=1895
On a notice included in the literature provided in the box, it states:
"This product requires the host computer to have PORT MULTIPLIER function on the eSATA port in order to recognize the multiple connected HDD."
Is this something built into the eSATA card or in the computer?
Is there an update that I can download?
The eSATA card is connected to an internal SATA port (as I'm sure everyone knows how they are connected).
    Any info would be appreciated.

The built-in SATA ports do not support port multiplier. For that you need a PCI-e SATA card, such as:
    <http://www.sonnettech.com/product/temposatae4p.html>
