Does 8x AGP card compatible with 4x mainboard?

Hi,
I have a MSI 845PE Max 4x AGP mainboard and a Xelo G4 Ti4200 128MB DDR 8X card. Can the system run without giving problem when playing newer game. Does the mobo have enough power to handle 8X AGP card for playing game. My system hang whenever I player newer games.

It allows the Vidio card to use more of the Main (System) Memory if the Onboard Vidio Card Memory becomes loaded from storing future frame information From a game that you have in play..If you have 128 MB of Vidio Card Memory the chances of having to go to the Main memory are slim, but as the next generation Games start hitting the Stores even 128 will not be enough, thats why the top Cards have 256 MB of onboard Vidio RAM...But by upping the AGP aperture, you are not losing any of your ram (It's not being shared like with onboard Graphics Chip). ......Sean REILLY875

  • Is NVIDIA GeForce 6600 card compatible with OpenGL 2.0?

    Hi there -
Is my GeForce 6600 card compatible with openGL 2.0?
I have some software that tells me it is not and I've just spent lots of money buying it - I did make a quick check on-line before making my software purchase and found out that the whole 6000 series was compatible.
Reading again it says it has been OK for 2.1 from June 2006 onwards. I bought my Mac in May 2006
Can I install a new driver or something (almost sounds like I know what I'm talking about)?
If so is this something I can do or do I have to take my whole machine to the hospital?
I'm not that confident messing with too much technical stuff so treat me like an idiot ... please!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi-
    Back from work......
BD has you going the right direction on RAM.
CS4 needs as much RAM as you can throw at it.
Buy only guaranteed Mac compatible RAM.
As for hard drive, getting a TB or so for storage is great, but you also need a fast scratch drive, separate from the system drive.
Improvements to hard drive technology have been made since the G5 was released, so replacing the system drive with a new one is a good idea.
For the fastest system drive, which helps overall performance, the Western Digital Velociraptor 300GB is an ideal candidate.
For more of a budget drive, but still fast, a WD6400AAKS 640GB drive is an overall winner, with fast read and write times, and all that capacity confined to two platters in the drive.
This is one of the keys to the drives performance prowess.
For scratch, you will have large files that are written, changed, erased, as filters, etc. are applied.
PS gobbles drive space even more than it eats RAM.
Again, the WD6400AAKS, or a WD1001FALS 1TB drive is what you should look at.
And when we talk scratch drives, I mean that it does nothing else.
    Not for file storage, etc.
File storage needs to be relegated to a third drive for system optimization.
To recap, a fast boot drive (OS and applications only), a scratch drive, and as many file storage drives as you need for multiple copies (min 2) of all work.
As for graphics card, yes there is improvement to be had, especially with regard to OpenGL support in CS4.
PS also leverages the GPU of the graphics card, so power is desired.
A Mac 7800GT, Radeon X1900 G5 Edition, or a flashed Geforce 7800GTX are the three top performing cards.
A Geforce FX4500 is also a possible candidate if your pockets are very deep.

Of the three cards, the 7800GTX is the top card, and is relatively easy to find. The 512MB version is the most desirable.
You will be looking on eBay for Mac compatible PCIe graphics cards in one of the flavors that I have named.

  • Can a PC ATI X1600 XT AGP card work with my MDD..

Can a PC ATI X1600 XT AGP card work with my MDD?

I have a friend that made the mistake of buying a (new) non-Mac edition ATI card. Not the card you've specified, this was a few years ago, but everything worked for him, with OSX. His biggest issue was the loss of the ADC connection on the card, getting DVI connectors only instead. That means a trip to Apple to get an ADC-DVI converter, mine was about £100 for my second display. My friend payed slightly less. At the end of the day, it would have been cheaper for him to pay the £30 extra for the Mac edition.

  • Is the FX5200-T128 video card compatible with an Athlon 64 CPU and a K8N mobo?

I am building a new computer based on the Athlon 64 3000 processor and the mobo MSI K8N Neo-FSR.
I intended to use MSI MS-8907 GeForce FX5200-T128 as the video card.
However I have been told that this video card might not be compatible either with the Athlon 64 processors or with the mobo MSI K8N Neo-FSR.
    Is it compatible or not?
If it's not compatible, what is the cheapest MSI video card compatible with the Athlon 64 and the K8N?
Thank you in advance for your help.

If it's there, it means they at least inserted the card, booted, and installed drivers, as far as what they do from that point is anyones guess. You will see the far right column shows 4x or 8x.
I agree, it is minimal info at best and not my idea of what should be included in a test report.
I don't see any reason why that card would not work, the market is saturated with that type of card.

  • Is DeckLink card Compatible with FMLE?

    Black Magic Design.
    DeckLink Studio
Full Resolution SD/HD SDI & Analog Editing Card
i am using this card for streaming in flash media live encoder.
Please confirm, is this card compatible with FMLE.
    and operating system windows vista.
    Regards
    Sheeraz Kaleem

FMLE 3.0 works with Black Magic Decklink and Intensity Pro cards on SD sizes only
FMLE 2.5 works with these cards at HD sizes but because of single core support of Resize Filter and VP6 encoder in FMLE 2.5, you will not be able to get desired Output FPS at HD sizes from FMLE 2.5 also.
So if we you are planning to run these cards at SD sizes then you can go for these devices.
These cards are right now not in certified list of devices of FMLE but many people have tried these cards at SD sizes and they worked fine for them at SD sizes.
FMLE 3.0 not supporting BlackMagic HD sizes is a bug

  • Is the AT-MIO-16E-2 ISA card compatible with a Pentium III 1GHz with a 133MHz bus?

Is the AT-MIO-16E-2 ISA card compatible with a Pentium III 1GHz with a 133MHz bus? The system has an ISA slot available but I'm afraid the bus speed is too fast for this old card. Do I need to buy a new PCI card to work in this system?

    Hello;
As long as your machine has a ISA slot and that the NI-DAQ driver is properly installed on it, you shouldn't have any problems with it.

  • Looking for graphic cards compatible with the basic G5

    Help!!
Went to the Apple Store to see if my G5 (M9020LL/A) which is the 1.6GHz PowerPC to see if it was compatible/could drive the 30" cinema display. They assured me my G5 could handle the large display. I have OS 10.5.8, iLife 09, 1 TB HD, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with 64MB DDR SDRAM for the 8x AGP Pro slot.
The display arrived, I get picture but not resolution. Searched for a video/graphics card that was compatible. The ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC/Mac with 256MB was recommended. I purchased one but can only get it to work with a safe boot. Get resolution but iPhoto cannot do the photos in full screen mode. But I can get full screen photos in screen saver mode?!
Apple support states they only recommend/support two cards for my model, the Radeon 9600 @ 64 MB, 2480X1326 res or the Radeon Pro, 128 MB, 2480X1326 res.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the Radeon card 9600 Pro PC/Mac with 256MB? Does anyone have a solution as to which card would be compatible with my G5 and get 2560X1600 res?
Any suggestions? Thanks you for your help!

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
Apple support states they only recommend/support two cards for my model,
Those were the only two cards offered at the time, so that is their "official position". You may safely ignore them..... even though they lied to you regarding the 30" ACD and your machine.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the Radeon card 9600 Pro PC/Mac with 256MB?
Often reported here on the forum.
Not a good card. If it works, fine, but many report as you do....Safe mode only.
The G5 can use any 8x AGP graphics card that was available in any AGP model G5.
OEM Mac cards with dual link DVI for the 30" ACD are:
    Radeon 9650
    Radeon X800XT
    Geforce 6800 GT DDL
    Geforce 6800 Ultra DDL
A flashed (converted WinPC card) Geforce 7800 GS may also be used.
Any of the above cards can be found on eBay/Apple Components.

  • Where can I find video cards compatible with my old macs?

I have 4 mac G4s I am using for an installation at a gallery. Two are Sawtooth and the other two I believe are yelp. I need to put additional video cards in them.
I am looking for video cards that can run dual monitors. I have been looking for
mac compatible PCI video cards that run at 2x.
Locally no stores I visited carry mac-compatible graphics cards. I haven't been to the Apple store yet because I have never found a product there that was useful for these machines, they're just too old.
Online I have found at macsales.com
RADEON™ PCI Mac Edition by ATI
    for $100
    and at yourmacstore.com
ATI RADEON™ 7000 PCI Mac Edition
    for $50
Does anyone know if either of these will run dual monitors? If they will run on my G4s?
Any suggestions of what kind of card I can use and where I might find them at the best price?
g4 sawtooth and yelp   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The 7000 supports only a single VGA monitor; the Radeon PCI Mac Edition supports one VGA and one DVI monitor connection - you could use a DVI-to-VGA adapter to drive dual VGA monitors.
Both are PCI cards and the performance will be slightly lower than using an AGP card, but you benefit from the savings in cost. Getting four AGP-compatible cards would be much more expensive.

  • Is the Intel I340-T4 Ethernet card compatible with LabView 8.6?

We are currently looking in to having our LabView program process the output of two Allied Vision cameras, run through a PCI GigE card.
On our old machine (32-bit Vista), we have a PRO/1000 PT Quad working just fine with the LabView interface - and we want to upgrade to a better PC with 64-bit Win 7.
We are under the impression that PRO/1000 PT is not compatible with Win 7, and were looking into either I340 quad-port adapters:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/49186/Intel-Ethernet-Server-Adapter-I340-T4
Does anyone have any insight as to the compatibilities of the Intel 82580 controllers with LabView 8.6?

    Hi Civa,
Scott here from AVT technical support.   You are correct re. that PT card not being Win7 compatible.  Here's a link to our current recommendations for NICs and switches.
    http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/fileadmin/content/PDF/Support/Application_Notes/Hardware_Selection_fo...
If it's NOT in that list, it doesn't mean it won't work, merely that we haven't tested it and do not know.  We do not attempt to test every 3rd party product on the market.
And our testing is typical with AVT SDKs not with Labview, though there are thousands of joint AVT / NI customers, and we'd have heard by now if there were any conflicts, I am confident.

    Scott

  • The FX 5500 is compatible with the mainboard Intel D850EMV2????

    Hi:
    I have a MSI-Geforce 4 MX 460 VTP.....with:
    Mainboard Intel D850EMV2
    Processor Intel 2.4 Ghz
    512 RAM
    80Gb Disk
    The question is?....
The MSI  FX5500-TD128LF  works with this Mainboard?????? this have only AGP 4X.....
    This VGA  works fine???....
But my Geforce 4 MX 460 is more faster.....look this....
    Geforce 4 MX 460
    Graphics Core     256-bit
    Memory Interface    64-bit
    Memory Bandwidth    8.8 GB/Sec.
    Fill Rate    1.2 Billion Texels/Sec.
    Triangles Per Second    38 Million
    MSI  FX5500-TD128LF
    Graphics Core     256-bit
    Memory Interface    128-bit
    Memory Bandwidth    6.4 GB/sec.
    Fill Rate    1.1 Billion Texels/Sec.
    Vertices Per Second    68 Million
    Pixels per Clock (peak)    4
    Textures per Pixel    16
    RAMDACs    350 MHz
Is better or not??....Works in this Mainboard....please help me

AGP 8X cards will work in all AGP 4X mainboards, but will run at AGP 4X speed only, which is only fractionally slower anyway
FX5500 may not be any more powerful than your old GF4, but it has latest DirectX 9.0 support

  • Graphics Cards compatible with 30" Cinema Display

I need to replace my graphics card in my MacPro. Display still works from other computers but it won't work from the MacPro any more.
There seem to be so many graphics cards around yet I am struggling to find a list of cards that ARE compatible with a MacPro/Cinema set up. Does anyone knoe where I can find this information?
    Thanks
    Alan

If you want it to work with OSX, it has to be a card make for the Mac Pro. PC graphics cards won't work with OSX.
    <http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopmac/macaccessories/displays?mco=MTM3NTA0ODQ>
Despite what Apple says, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 will work with any Mac Pro, the other cards only with the 2008 or 2009 Mac Pro.

  • Need Sound Card Compatible With Intel D975XBX Mobo and Windows 7

Did a search and no joy. I built a home theater computer about 5 years ago around the D975XBX,? I was using the Sigmatel integrated sound via toslink to my receiver without any problems. I installed W7 yesterday only to find that there are no Intel mobo drivers for W7. So before I go throught he hassle and expense of replacing the mobo and processor, are there any sound cards that are compatible with this mobo and W7? I don't do gaming on this machine, or 3D, mainly 5. out to my receiver. Thanks.
    Tim?

DWell, I'll answer my own question. Finding it very hard to belei've that a driver wasn't available for the Sigmatel, I upgraded the Bios, then did another seach. Cha-ching, money!
I really like SB cards, but I don't like spending money when I don't have to.
Even though Intel said it stopped supporting?the mono?in '08, the bios was an '09 version. This may be helpful to others who are using this mobo.
