Does a Dark Desktop Image Help Save Battery Life?

I know this is a weird question.
But think about it: if you use a very bright desktop image, say something like this: http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/4540/deserttoyota24wf.jpg
and if, in the second case, you use a quite dark one, with a lot of "black" pixels that actually does give a lot less light (the one here is my desktop picture, a map with a light-rendering effect):
http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/8049/europewidefx7wq.jpg
1. does the darker desktop screen consume less battery power for the smaller amount of "glowing" pixels?
and, as I am asking stuipid questions,
2. does the darker screen help in prolonging your Powerbook screen's lifespan?
I have been asking myself these questions ever since I got my brandnew PB 17" HD (October 2005), and although they seam strange I am serious about it.
Thanks!
PowerBook G4 17" 1.67 HD + G4 QS 867   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Your backligth seems to be white is'nt it ?
So to known how much you use electric power to switch a pixel from white to black, the best way is:
1) to turn off all your ligths in your house
2) to remember your electricity company counter index
3) mesure the time the powerbook is on
4) put your screen with a white background
5) change the background to black
6) run to the electricity company counter and write down the index
7) substract the start index from the end index
8) substract powerbook electric comsuption
9) divide this result by the number of pixel your LCD have it will give you the electric comsuption for one pixel.
Hope this help

How do you save battery life

There is many things to help save battery life on IOS, hear are some battery saving tips I use when with low battery  .
Battery saver 1: Turn off Bluetooth , by going to "Settings>Bluetooth" and switching the little "On/Off" toggle.
Battery saver 2: Turn down the screen brightness half way or just below is fine, for at home, but if you use your idevice outside turn it up just below max brightness so you can see the screen, to turn up or down brightness you can navigate to "Settings>Wallpaper and Brightness" and there will be a slider to adjust brightness.Or if you are on IOS 7 you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen and it will bring up "Action Centre" and there will be a little sun icon, next to it will be another brightness slider, to exit "Action Centre" press the home button or just swipe the little down arrow.
Battery saver 3: Volume turn the volume up and down at certain times of day "eg: I turn volume up full or just below in the afternoons because most things are going on in the afternoon that probably make lots of noise, and at night turn it down because your ears have adjusted to quietness  and can pickup on quieter sounds".
Battery saver 4: Turn off WIFI when not in use "eg when playing games or just switched off" you can do this by going to "Settings>WIFI" there will be a "On/Off" toggle or via "Action Centre" "IOS 7+".
Battery saver 5: When your not going to be using your device for a while shut it down by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button.
Battery saver 6: Close apps running in the background by double tapping the home button and holding down the running apps then tap the little "-" minus in a red circle to close "IOS 6 and lower", things are a little different with IOS 7 its the same process of double tapping  the home button but a different way to execute the apps, you do this by swiping "Up" on the open apps. "Tip: You can swipe 3 at once!".

Does closing apps save battery life? If so, is there a way to close all apps at once?

There is no way to close all apps at once. When you leave an app , most apps stop working immediately. A few apps will continue to complete the task they were working on. Mail is an example of that. There is a short time limit though after which the app stops running and the state you left it in is stored. Quitting apps does not increase battery life.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Do resized videos (from iTunes) save battery life?

I have downloaded two videos from itunes. What size/resolution are they? If I resize them to fit the iPod touchs screen resolution will I save battery life?

If I resize them to fit the iPod touchs screen resolution will I save battery life?
That's a good question that I've wondered about. The touch screen native resolution is 480-by-320-pixels. When I export from my eyeTV software, it's at 480x360. PERHAPS, using larger image sizes causes the CPU to work harder in resizing the content. This COULD lead to shorter battery life.

  • Save battery life

To help save save battery life turn of apps. This can only be done on ios4 and i have a 3gs. When on the home page double click and all open apps will appear on bottom of screen. Hold finger on one of the apps for a few seconds and the open apps icons will wiggle and a round red minus sign will appear. Touch minus sign to turn of apps, other wise they are always running in the background even though you think they arnt!!! It works for me. Good luck.

  • How to save battery life on iPod touch 5g?

Give me tips on how to save battery life on iPod touch 5g.It dies out very quickly.

    Turn down the screen brightness
Look into notifications. it defaults to everything being on and you can turn off most if not all of them.
Check your e-mail. If it's on push that means it's reaching out for new mails every so often, turning it to fetch means that it only goes to get mail when you tell it to.
Look at some of your apps. Some of them may be doing things in the background that you don't realize and you can tweak those to not run when you don't need them to run.

  • How do you save battery life by closing programs under i0S7?

How do you save battery life by closing programs under 0S7?  You used to click the home button twice, but now, since the update of 0S7, this feature seems to be gone.

click the home button twice, when you see the apps line up on the page, swipe the ones you want to close up and off the page. Scroll to access more apps, tap the home button once to exit the mode
For battery issues, look in the notifications. iOS7 defaults a lot on that you may not need. Also look to the background updating of apps. That can drain battery too.

  • Will doing a teathered restore to iOS 5.1.1 help my battery life?

OK I waited over a month to update my iPhone 4s to iOS 5.1.1.  I did an OTA update (Which I think was my problem)  I got hit with the battery drain bug that apparently comes with an OTA update of the OS.
    I Did the following:
    1. Full backup to iTunes
    2. Did OTA upgrade
    3. Restarted my phone
    4. Turned off most of the notifications and locations
    5. Turned off Siri Raise to Speak
    6. Turned off Bluetooth
    7. Turned off Wifi
    8. Turned off Auto Send Diagnostics and Usage
    9. Ran the phone all the down to dead
    10. Plugged in and charged for about 11 hours
    11. Reset all settings as new
    11. Reset Network settings
Battery life is worse than I had with iOS 5.1 Which was pretty good.  Before I updated to 5.1.1 I could go the whole day with normal usage for me, 5-10 phone calls, 20-25 texts, little bit of web surfing, check facebook a couple of times, check Twitter a couple of times.  Play a few games, about 20 - 30 minutes max total over the day. Listen to a couple of podcasts.  You know the normal things one does on a smartphone.  At the end of the day I would be at 30 - 40 % left.
Once I updated to 5.1.1 I was going to get to 0% by 4 or 5 pm.
Is it helpful to do a restore as new connected to iTunes and just start over?
And if I do this can I then restore my apps, music etc from my back up or will that pull the battery drain bug back into the phone?

Haven't done anything different but battery life seems to be improving.  I have run the battery down a couple of times, just normal use but the fast battery drain caused it go get below 20% by the time I would normally plug it in at night when I go to bed.  Used to be 50 - 60 % at this point.  And I have noticed over the past couple of days that the battery drain issues I was seeing seem to have stopped.
So hopefully the Reset All Settings routine along with a couple of full rechages reset the battery meter in the firmware and I am actually seeing the true battery charge and usage that the phone is getting.

  • Having downloaded ios7.1 to my ipad my battery is draing faster than I can use it. Tried all the tips suggested to save battery life but with no success.....help!

Has anyone else found this too

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Needs help: x220 battery life ,6 Cell

Last week ,I received my x220.IPS,i5-2520.
But shortly I found that the battery life is too short.I have seen many reviews said that they tested their x220,and their machines will last for 7 hrs or more if just playing viedos or browse pages.
And my poor laptop,if I only use it for internet iexplore and MSN,it will only last for 3 or 3.5 hours, the battery mode which I choose is energy saver, and the brightness or screen is 9,I don't know if there is somthing problem with my battery or laptop...
And other thing is that when i charge my battery ,from 99% to 100%,it will take half an hour to comlete that ,although it display "charge will be comlete in 2 min."...
I use the everest to test my battery ,and the battery consumption is 0%,but the designed capacity is less than the full charge capacity....is that normal?
    Plz help me .....LoL....

Screen brightness 9 is pretty bright and will drain the battery quicker but off hand something fishy does seem up with your battery.   Hopefully someone else will know more
