Does a email that sits in "recovered messages on mac" mean it never sent?

I don't see this email in my sent items, however it was in my recovered messages on mac folder and the date stamp on the email looks like it was sent.

The Recovered Messages mailbox contains messages that were restored from a Time Machine backup. Whether the message was sent or not can be determined from the headers (View > Messages > Show All Headers).

    Hi Cara154,
If you are having issues receiving the email verification for your security questions, you may find the following article helpful:
When you provide a rescue email address during Apple ID creation, you will receive an email from Apple to verify that the email address provided is accurate. If you don't see an email from Apple asking you to verify your rescue email address, you may want to check your SPAM folder. If you still haven't received the email from Apple, you can sign in to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com) to resend your rescue email address. To resend your verification email, click on Password & Security. Then, click the Resend link located in the Rescue Email Address section.

Spammers have probably hacked your mail account. Change the password, to something much harder than it was before and see if it happens again. If it does then you may need to talk to the provider or take more aggressive action.
Usually they hack, send spam and  move on.

  • If an email is in the recovered messages folder on mail, does that mean it hasn't been sent?

A little confused as to what the 'Recovered Messages' folder is on mail.
I'm unsure why some emails I'm sending are appearing in that folder... does that mean they haven't been delivered?
They aren't visible in the sent folder but I haven't received an email to say it can't be delivered.
If someone could just explain this folder and it's purpose to me, I'd be really grateful.
    Thanks.

It means that the recipient either has iMessage turned off or is not connected to WiFi or 3G. The message will be held on Apple's servers for 24hrs, then deleted if not delivered.

  • Why does an email that contains a video in WMP etc format and I try to open it on my iPhone coverts it to Quicktime which is not supported. How do I get this to stop?

All emails that I try to open on my iPhone 4 OS 5 that contains a video which was in windows media player format when sent to my email box will convert the video to Quicktime player when I open the email on my phone- which the iPhone does not reconize. Is there something that can be done to fix this problem?

WMP is a windows proprietary format.
It is not supported on iOS devices.
QuickTime player is built into ios and used for all video playback-nothing is being converted.
You can try downloading an alternate player that can playback wmp or use a computer.

  • HT1277 How do I sync my college email that ends in .edu with my Mac Mail application and on my iphone?

    Hello,
Can anyone give me some instructions on how to sync my college email, which ends with .edu on my Macbook running Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.8) using the Mail application and on my Iphone 4S running IOS 6.01?

If your mail account ending in .edu is a POP mail account, messages will download to each device, unless you just view them with a web browser via the internet, so that all messages stay on the server.
If you want to sync devices and mail, you need to have an IMAP account.
See this for deeper description of POP versus IMAP mail accounts.

  • What is the best email that is similar to gmail for macs?

I am tired of having to deal with the "all mail" tab and it making doubles of all of my email. When the icloud comes out i was thinking of giving it a try, but are there any suggestions?  I also have a blackberry so keep that into consideration   i want an iphone again and will be getting one soon.

If you are using Mail to connect to GMail, note that there's a solution to the All Mail issue.  See Hiding GMail’s “All Mail” from Apple Mail*.  That solution should also hide it from an iPhone or Blackberry connecting to GMail via IMAP.
If you're just using the web interface for GMail, any other web-based e-mail system would work.  None will be very similar to GMail.

  • How to eliminate 'recovered messages" in I-Mail

How does one get rid of the "Recovered Messages" and/or the folders on "ON MY MAC?"  It is the same message that has been replicated over and over.  The message did contain large files attached to the original message.
    Thank you,
    Raymond from *******, GA

Is this happening to all emails from, say sender A? Or are you still receiving emails from sender A, but not in the same "convo"?
I am just wondering if sender A is sending you email that has "no subject", thus Apple Mail thinks it's apart of a convo. Therefore it'll group them into a "convo".

  • My ipad 3 keeps on downloading all my emails that is already downloaded, why donwload it again if I already downloaded it.

My ipad constantly download emails that is already downloaded in my ipad.
I never delete any mails as I use my ipad for business and need to go back to confirm emails and orders.
A 1000 emails gets downloaded every day at least 3 times, why download it again if its already downloaded.

If the developer makes two versions of the app, one for the iPhone and one for the iPad, rather than a universal app and the developer choses to charge for both, you will have to pay for both if you want both.

  • Bounced back emails I have never sent!

I am receiving at least 50 emails everyday from:
    Mail Delivery System <[email protected]>
Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender
However, I NEVER sent eamils to the email addresses that they are bounce back from!!!  What can I do to stop this?

    Jo-Jo ,
This sounds like your email account has been compromised, someone has used it to send spam emails out, and you are receiving those back.
ASAP change you password for the email account to something different, difficult to guess. Change the Secret Questions and Answers for your account security profile. Run virus/spyware/malware scan on your machines.
Once this is done and your email account is secure, you will probably still continue to receive those delivery failed messages for few days until its all filtered out from the spam messages that were sent from your account.
Hope this helps, if you have any other Questions or Concerns, please let us know.

  • Recovering data on Mac

Does anybody know how to SAVE recovered files on Mac? I used Stellar data recovery software and I am being asked for a key (some sequences of strokes) which I do not have unless I am willing pay.

    Elzach,
If you aren't willing to pay, then your data is not worth the reason for your recovery.
Free and almost free data backup solutions exist so you don't have to pay a lot for data recovery.  In the future always backup your data.  Your data is your responsibility.
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992 lists many solutions for backing up your data and data recovery. Some might pay thousands if their hardware fails to recover data.  So getting a key for a cheaper recovery software should not be an imposition.  I'm sorry, but all data medium fail at some point.  No virus, nor spyware need to be involved to cause data integrity to be lost.

  • HT2500 I had sent an email that was too big to go. It keeps popping into my "Recovered Messages folder I empty my "Recovered Messages"& it comes Back & its blocking all my incoming emails

I had sent an email that was too big to go. It keeps popping into my "Recovered Messages folder I empty my "Recovered Messages"& it comes Back & its blocking all my incoming emails

First, you need to show folders and files which are normally invisible. To do this, open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
    Hit return, then copy/paste
    killall Finder
    and hit return again.
Next hit Cmd-Shift-G and enter ~/Library/Mail and hit return
Open the triangle next to Mail and  look for a file named
    .OfflineCache file
and move it to the Trash. If this file exists, doing this will probably fix the problem.
You will need to reverse the show hidden command by just adding false to it, instead of true and them killall Finder again.

When I send/forward an email I get an error message that the recipient does not allow "relaying". It doesn't matter who the recipient is.

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>your account>Outgoing mail Server>SMTP>Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name & Password>under Outgoing Mail Server.
