Does a MacMini (late 2012) support 21:9 monitors?

Two monitors is nice, but a 21:9 (2560x1080) is maybe nicer…
Does the macMini support this (odd…) resolution?
Considering to purchase such a beast for my desktop.-
I like screen-estate…
And:
What happens when you switch Apps to full-screen mode??
Anybody shares any hands-on experience?
thanks in advance

I too have been strugling with the LG Ultrawide.  I have tried:
- My old mid 2011 Mac Mini i5 (HD3000 graphics), Lion.  It would hit the 2560x1080, but would flash black every few seconds.  Played with Switchresx for hours to no result.
- My 2012 Retina MBP 15 i7 (HD4000 and Nvidia), MLion.  It hits the 2560x1080 but it has the age old "TV" issue, poor font scaling, no font smoothing fixes it.  I my Apple support ticket has been elivated to engineering level my a Sr tech.  I am not holding my breath.  It is slightly better when using a DP->DVI-D
- My NEW Late 2012 Mini i7 (HD4000), MLion.  It gets to the Apple screen, goes black to never return.  Funny this is, he Apple is the proper size and aspect ratio, so it sees the monitor as Ultrawide at boot.  I have tried booting with a second HDMI monitor and tried to get the mini to see the LG on the DP port, but it doesn't.  After the initial flash, the monitor thinks no display is hooked there either.
All systems support up to 2560x1600 displays.  So this is obviously a ultrawide format issue or an LG issue.
I plan to continue tonight trying to get the new mac mini to work with Switchresx and the DVI-D dongle.  But, the goal is to be able to switch between the the laptop and mini and even if they both can work with the DVI-D, the monitor only has one DVI-D, so that doesn't work for me.

  • Does the MacBook Air 2012 supports SDXC Cards?

Does the MacBook Air 2012 supports SDXC Cards?
    Thx

Hi! How are you? The reason why I'm here is to find out more about SDXC support/compatibility info on the macbook air 2012 and how to fix this nagging issue if it's fixable.
I had just bought a Sandisk extreme pro 64GB rated at 95mb/s for my Nikon DSLR. Unfortunately, MBA struggles to detect or mount my card, after a few sweats, it would mount, but then very slow to process and preview the images as "Thumbnail preview". Then, after a few more sweats, you can scroll through the thumbnails smoothly.
Streaming HD videos straight from the SD Slot is butcher chopping the beef. Video lags, stutters, chops, in otherwords, USELESS and a pain in the neck. So you just want to copy all the files to your macbook, and play from there. Copying files from SDXC to my macbook takes forever; writing is also another issue that take much more than forever!
I have a top of the line macbook air 2012 (i7, 8GB, 512) and I always thought it's a versatile reliable computer but now I'm very disappointed. On the other hand, doing the same things on my macbook pro 2010 is seamless. I also tested on my windows 8 desktop to be flawless as well.
Therefore, the memory card is not the problem. It's macbook air's sd slot that's a failure. I never thought spending $2,199 for a super computer would make me stress like this. In addition, the magsafe 2 is another failure in design. It always disconnects just by moving my macbook air from one spot of the table to another. Having it charged while on my lap gets on my nerves when it keeps getting disconnected! I hate Apple for doing this. If only there was a Windows notebook that surpasses Apple's design, I would never EVER buy Apple products EVER again.

  • MacMini - Late 2012 - Wifi Connectivity Issues @ Home

    I have a late 2012 Mac Mini:  2.5 Ghz i5, 4gb RAM, Intel HD 4000 graphics running OS X 10.9.4.
For the last month or two I've had issues connecting to my home network.  When It does connect, it is very slow.  I'm typing this on an iPad 2 that has no issues.  Further we have 3 iPhone 5s that connect with no issue as well as two Dell laptops.  I'd hate to think that there's a hardware issue on the Mini.  I already had to take it in a couple of months ago due to a software hang when it was updating the OS during an update.
I haven't moved it and plugged it in to a cable yet.

I would try moving the Mini. My Mini had poor/slow wifi when I had an external HD on top of the Mini. Also it could be due to interference.

  • Mac mini late 2012, hdmi to Samsung Monitor no signal

mac mini late 2012, OS X ver. 10.9.2, hdmi to Samsung Monitor (S22C300) no signal,
but thunderbolt to hdmi adaptor can work, any fix for hdmi issue?

It would seem that if the Samsung monitor is not waking from sleep, then Samsung has not properly implemented the Wake on Signal that the Mini is sending out. There is nothing unique that Apple would do for one manufacturer. The signal is being sent out and that is why other monitors wake. Your Samsung, and mine, which are both probably different models are not waking when requested by the Mini. The best that can be done is to set the Energy Saving System Preference to not put the monitor to sleep. Use the Screen Saver as desired.

  • Does mac mini (late 2014) supports dual-band wifi sharing?

    Hello,
First of all, i'm not native speaker, so, please excuse my poor english.
I have a mac mini (late 2014) and use the wifi-sharing feature of yosemite.
(Ethernet is connected to Mac mini and other devices such as mac air are connected to Mac mini through wifi)
For wifi-sharing, channel 44 is used, and as i know, it is located on 5Ghz band.
By the way, i plan to buy a sony srs x7 bluetooth speaker which also supports airplay only on 2.4GHz wifi internet.
If i wanna connect that speaker to Mac-mini's hotspot, should i change the wifi-channel of mac-mini to 2.4GHz band? or, can mac mini provides wifi hotspot for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously?

Bluetooth is a different network than the wifi network. BT is 2.4 GHz only while wifi cn be 2.4 and/or 5 GHz.
Your BT speakers will work fine using the BT capability of the Mac

    Hello,
My MacMini running ML 10.8.3 will go into sleep after some period of inactivity, and won't wake up (typically happens overnight, but not only). I have to shut down using the power button and turn on again.

You are experiencing a Kernel Panic, as shown in Apple kb article TS3742. .
Bad or incompatible RAM is, more often then not, the cause of most Kernel Panics. It could also just need to be reset.
Here's the most used site for Resolving Kernel Panics. Please do all the steps in order, even if you don't think you need to do a certain step. This link just goes up to Snow Leopard but there are a lot of good tips in there.
Here is a great MacFixIt article.

  • Will my iMac (late 2012) support this using Thunderbolt 2?

I'm pretty interested in purchasing this in the future but I wanted to make sure I'd ask before I do so. Or do I have to stick with Thunderbolt 1?
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/HE152VC/A/promise-pegasus2-r6-12tb-6-by-2tb-th underbolt-2-raid-system?fnode=5f
Thank you so much in advance.

The Promise is backwards-compatible with Thunderbolt 1 so it would work, but if it costs significantly more due to the Thunderbolt 2 support it would be a waste of money since you won't get the benefit of the higher performance when using your current iMac. If the price vs a Thunderbolt 1 array isn't much more, though, then purchasing the Thunderbolt 2 device might be worthwhile "future proofing".
    Regards.

  • IMac 21.5 (late 2009 ) supports GPU Sensor Monitoring?

I've had this question up on the Intel Mac forum for a number of days now without being able to resolve this issue. I'm posting it here on the chance someone who hasn't visited that forum may come along who may be experiencing this.
I'm trying to determine if this computer doesn't support GPU monitoring for the Nvidea GeForce 9400 (I think it probably does for the ATI Radeon card), or if I have a defective sensor. I've reset the SMC to no effect and run the Hardware Test, which found no problems.
I'd really appreciate knowing if anyone who has an iMac 21.5 or 27 (late 2009, i.e. not the models just released), or any other model with this graphics chipset, and running a program that reads data from the sensors, such as Hardware Monitor (or Temperature Monitor), iStat Menus (or Pro) or anything similar, is not (or is) getting any sensor readings for the GPU.
(I've been in touch with the developer of Hardware Monitor who was not able to answer this question definitively.) Thanks.

    Last try.
I'd really appreciate knowing if anyone who has a late 2009 iMac 21.5 or 27... is not (or is) getting any (temperature or load) readings for the GPU / Graphics Card (Nvidea GeForce 9400.)

Does the LED Cinema Display (27-Inch) work with the new iMac (late 2012) as a second monitor, and if so, which cable do I need?

It will work.  Plug its Mini DisplayPort plug into the computer's Thunderbolt port.  No adapters needed.

  • RAM upgrade in mac mini Late 2012

    Hi Everyone,
I wanna upgrade my MAcmini late 2012 from 4 gb ram to 8GB Ram. sugeestions that i install only 1 ram of 8GB in one slot or 2* 4GB =8GB will be better and also check the link that which one is better from both of them :

Depending on the applications one seeks to run in the MINI, if you have a quad-core model
that also would run virtual cores depending on the software made to run in that configuration,
the dual-channel aspect of RAM memory upgrade may make more than a slight difference.
But that would be hard to measure, if you happen to have a quad-core 2.3GHz and 16GB RAM.
Or then sought to upgrade and put an SSD in one hard drive location and perhaps a 1-TB or
larger HDD in the other; thus it may work as a fusion-type drive. Sometimes, any advantage is
lost once the computer data rate is reached, it won't go faster due to the hardware limits...
One I recently acquired from Apple online, clearance new, has two 1-TB 5400 RPM drives. So
that may be OK if two Mac OS X systems were on board. Or if it were used as a Server, since
my model shipped with Server version OS X 10.9, and only 4GB RAM so far.
Hopefully your upgrade works out OK. I've read of a few instances of problematic installation
where one of two drives would not run at expected data transfer rates. Don't remember details.
    Good luck & happy computing!
