Does a new system need FAN Controllers ?

I was thinking about getting this case:
COOLER MASTER HAF932
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119213
With this motherboard:
ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131614&Tpk=asus%20p6x58d
My Question is if a fan controller is needed or wanted ?
I was looking at this one:
1ST PC CORP. FC-FC3-S Lamptron 5.25" 4-channel fan controller, 30w/channel, 3-pin fan & molex power
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811997020
Thanks:  GLenn

Thanks Harm.
I thought I gave you points and closed it but I must have not.
I think I wont worry about it and keep them on like you say.
More money spent on better disk setup anyway.
Thanks:  Glenn

  • New system/Northbridge fan

    Hi all,
I'm planning to buy some new parts for my machine:
    * MSI K8N Diamond Plus
    * Athlon 64bit 3500+ venice
    * Kingston pc4000 1GB mem
    * Tagan 530Watt PSU
    * Zalman CNPS9500 Led CPU cooler
What do u think about this configuration?
And my second question is the northbridge fan, i don't like it :(
Currently i have an MSI 875P neo, this board also had an annoying NB fan which i've removed because
it wasn't really needed and it did make allot of noise.
But is this also possible with the: MSI K8N Diamond Plus board or am i going to fry this one when removed?
I'm not planning to overclock the system and have pretty good cooling (i think ) in my case:
    Thermaltake soprano case
    2x 12CM fan (front/back)
    1x 12CM fan in PSU
    Thanks in advance!

Configuration is nice, for PSU look also to my Antec http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=24480 or http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=28550 because it have cable management and you can install only the cables you need,in 6 years with Antec PSU's never have one single problem. With the northbrige fan look the response that was given to me by a forum member http://hem.legend.se/kammaren/temp/chipgpu.pdf But on my mobo doesn't fit so I use zalman fanmate 2 to reduce the rpm of the fan and now is ok the noise

  • What Else Does My FCP System Need?

    Hi all,
So I am going to put a little money into my editing setup. At the moment I have a dual G5 2.5ghz, 4gb ram, 23" Cinema HD, a Sony broadcast monitor (not new, not too old, works well for what I do), a decent JVC deck that captures PAL/NTSC DV/DVCAM. The comp has a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme from about 2 years ago. Final Cut Studio 2.
Other than 1TB internal SATA storage, all my storage is Firewire 800. I think the first thing will be a SATA card and external RAID array.
So what are the next important things? I don't work with HD (yet) and my focus is really on music video editing, some minor compositing/motion graphics, and a fair amount of DVD authoring. Possibly a DLT deck, that sort of thing - hardware that will allow me to deliver more to clients.
    Thanks everybody.
    Jason

If you read carefully you can see that both me and
Brian at the end of the thread were talking about or
referring to the latest MacPro therefore it was
obvious that we were talking about Intel Mac systems
    with an ATI Radeon Z1900XT.
No it wasn't obvious. The OP has a G5 and your first response seggested that he get a Graphics card that isn't compatible with his system. I think it is important for people to understand that just because a card is PCIe doesn't mean that it will work with a system that has PCIe slots. Not that his system even has PCIe, as has already been established it has PCI-X. But still, I have seen a lot of posts over the past few weeks that talk a lot about the X1900XT and it is not always made clear which systems this card is compatible with.
But this rant of mine is OT so...
    Jason,
I would suggest a second Cinema Display. You'll really appreciate the additional work space. Also, I second Shane's suggestion for a mixer and some good nearfield monitors. I actually don't think that it would be wise to sink a lot of money into other gear until you have a real need for it. You already seem to have a pretty good setup. You're in LA so you can easily rent whatever decks you'll need. Don't spend any money buying a deck unless you'll be using it every day.

  • Does my new Macbook need recovery discs?

Hi, just bought a new Macbook and I think I recall the salesman saying something about making my own recovery discs (to restore the original factory settings on the computer in an emergency).
I couldn't find a recovery disc in the box so I figure I do have to make it myself. I was wondering how one goes about making a recovery disc? Is there a utility in OS X?

All new Macs come with a set of Software Restore discs and an OS X Installer Disc. If these were not present in your box then they were either omitted at the factory or you overlooked them in the shipping box. If the computer was in a box that had already been opened, then someone removed them. In any case you are entitled to these discs. Go to the dealer and insist on receiving what was missing from your purchase. There should be no charge for this.
The Software Restore discs are all you need for recovery. There is no need to make a special recovery disc. However, you should maintain a backup of your startup volume and personal files.

  • Does my new computer need other Adobe downloads

I'm downloading PS/PSE 12 onto a new computer (Windows 8.1). Do I need other Adobe downloads (e.g., Reader, Flash, Acrobat, etc.) to support the PS/PSE 12 programs? Thank you.

Most applications will stand on their own.  Photoshop would be one such application.

  • Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original location - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it

Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original locations - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it - also, when transferring large amounts of files it becomes a very large problem remembering which files were transferred and which not.

You're going to need to be more specific, as I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about.
If you're referring to copying from an external hard drive or flash drive, and you want to actually move files rather than copy them, you can hold down the option key to force it to do a "move" rather than a "copy." This is not new behavior, though... the Mac OS has worked this way as long as I can recall (and I've been using it since 1984).
If you're having a problem with trying to move files from one place to another on a single drive causing them to be copied instead, that is likely because of some permissions issue preventing you from actually being able to move them.

  • Do I need to deactivate my CS5 Student install to install on new system?

We have a Student download of Adobe CS5 on our system and through editing HD we decided that yes, our system won't cut it for long. So we are building a powerhouse replacement.
The question is, how do we install on the new system? We downloaded a large set of zip files used to install. There was no CD involved and we don't have paperwork. It was done through my wife's university and they don't seem to know. (and yes, it was done legally and properly)
I don't see a deactivate button anywhere in the menus, but maybe I am not looking hard enough or in the right place.
We don't wantto find out that, oh boy, CS5 was great, but we can't move it over to the new system because we didn't do something we were supposed to.
    Thanks.

I have never deactivated, but I do know from reading before I bought (I work at a University) that the CS5 education version is exactly the same as the commercial version (except for the price and 2-step registration process) so Hunt's advice on how to deactivate should be the same
Also, making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.

  • New system does not boot properly

I just set up a new system with:
     a MS-6728 Neo2 FIS2R Mobo,
    1gb Geil PC-3500 RAM (2x512),
    2.6C proc.
2 Maxtor 120gb IDE drives RAID 0 with the onboard promise controller.
    Lite-On DVD burner
    ATI radeon 9800 video card
Enermax 300 watt power supply with:
    3.3v - 28amp
    5v - 30amp
    12v 22amp
    170watt total 3.3/5 combined
My problem is that my system NEVER boots up normally.  It always freezes in the bios startup.  The D-bracket stops at almost every possible combination of led's, which according to the manual the problems were:  Testing RTC, Initialize Video interface, Testing memory, Initializing floppy controller, Memory detection, Decompressing bios to ram, possibly more.  Sometimes I also just get beeping, either a continuous beep or 8 beeps.  A few times it would display the bios startup screen, but halfway down would be gibberish characters and would be locked up.  When I then turn the computer off then on again, the bios is reset at least somewhat(i know because I usually disable the full screen image on startup) and says memory timings are too tight, and I have the choice to enter bios or hit any key to automatically fix things.  If I hit any key it will boot up ok.  However when I restart/turn off the computer, the next time it again does not boot.  I tried upping the ram voltages from 2.5-2.9v, and that seems to stay that way in the bios, even when it resets itself.  Everything else is set to auto/slow.  If I try to manually adjust the memory timings, even to the slowest possible settings, it does not boot, and I must turn it on/off a few times till the bios resets again, with the boot process stopping at one of the possiblilitys mentioned above.    Using the info tab on speedfan, I got the memory info, and it displayed the voltage at 2.5v, not sure what that means but it is strange.
    What I have already attempted:
I sent back the ram and got a new set, which hasn't changed anything.  The first time the other ram failed memtest, this time it passed(for about 2 hrs).  So I don't think its the ram.
I borrowed an antec truepower 430w powersupply, which had no effect.
I went back to bios version 1.3 from 1.9, which also seems to have no effect.
I was hoping to overclock the system a bit and enable performance mode etc etc, but now I'll be happy to just not have to go through a song and dance everytime I restart the computer.  This is only the second computer I have built from scratch, and the first with raid, but that seemed to all go ok.  Please help me diagnose the problem!

I too am having problems with my system.
    865PE Neo2-FIS2R
    2 Maxtor 120GB S-ATA drives, RAID 0, Promise
    2 512MB Geil Ultra CL2-3-3-6
    HP CD-RW
What IDE settings are you using?
    E.g...Native? P-ATA Only...all of those settings
For me...sometimes XP will install and boot...but eventually system is unstable and XP crashes and corrupts itself...Event Manager errors different each time
Someone mentioned problems with Maxtor and AMI BIOS...anything I should keep in mind?
Sorry about all the different questions.  I'm sure exactly where my problem lies.  MSI thinks it may be my memory AND/OR on-board IDE controller since I can't get the on-board Intel RAID setup to consistently "see" and setup my RAID drives...even when it has worked...XP doesn't like the Intel configured RAID drives.  Also tried just one S-ATA drive through on-board Intel and Promise.  Next I will try a plain old IDE Hard Drive...no S-ATA...and make sure my memory passes memtest86+ testing.
Any other gems you can offer for this config???  Thanks.

Hard drive died.  Cannot uninstall CS3 to remove copy registration. Need to reinstall on new laptop with windows 7 64 bit system,  Need to get activation code for CS3 Web Premium.

    Thank you Bob.
Just to clarify - in terms of backing up one set of these, would that just be so I had it on disk and didn't need to re-download from Adobe if the installation got corrupted somehow?  Or do I need a backup for some other reason?
    Thanks

  • Why does the system need two average costs - 'Average' and 'Average Rates'?

    Hello Gurus!
The documentation does give definitions for 'Average' and 'Average Rates' cost types, but at a very basic level.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/A60725_05/html/comnls/us/cst/settask.htm
I would like to know why the system needs two costs? How are they calculated and how are they used?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
I can suggest you a workaround that will help you keep only the 64-bit version of Photoshop.
Visit "Uninstall a Program" in Windows 7 Control Panel and uninstall Photoshop completely.
Visit this page and download trial version of Photoshop.
Run the installer manually and choose the 64-bit version only (uncheck 32-bit version).
Launch the product and specify your Adobe ID credentials.
The product will switch to non-trial (i.e. full) mode when it recognizes your Adobe ID.
