Does a synch erase old contact info from Address Book and replace it with updated info?
I entered a contact in Address Book on my iBook, synched my phone, tried to e-mail my contact, figured out the e-mail address was wrong, back into Address Book, changed e-mail address, and re-synched phone. But now both the correct and the incorrect address appear when I try to e-mail my contact on my iPhone.
The correct address appears when I check out the contact info on the phone, but both new and the old e-mail addresses appear in the list when I type the first letter of the contact in the Mail application - under separate listings for the same contact. I'm stumped. How do I get rid of the bad e-mail address?

a sync will look for any changes in the address book, and update them in the phone. i believe you will have to delete the incorrect one from the phone manually. same goes for syncing from the phone to computer, the address book will only update, not overwrite.

Iphone calendar does not synch with outlook

Starting on Feb 1, my iPhone (5s) does not synch with Outlook (2013). Have tried many things:
1. Building new Outlook data file (.pst)
2. Changing synch settings in iTunes
3. Changing USB cables
4.Removing/reinstalling iTunes and other Aplle software
Problem seems to have started after upgrading iOS and iTunes.
Any idea?

Yes, that does make sense. You can transfer data from the old .pst file without saving it as a .pst file. Archive your current .pst. Then save your contacts as vCards, and save your calendar as an iCalendar file. After creating the new .pst file, you can open the old calendar in the new .pst as well as import the vCards back to your contacts.
Last question, did you run the scanpst.exe program to review your .pst file for corruption? You will find that, if I remember correctly, in the Office program folder. You can search for it. Run that, it prompts you for your .pst file and will scan it for problems. But saying that it started on a specific date would lead me to believe it is something you probably added that day. Out of all of the time I've been using Outlook 2007, 2010, and 2013 with my iPhones, and I've had them since the first one, I've only had 2 small events, and copying over the .pst has fixed them both.

Partitioning External Drive w/o Erasing Data

I have one 500GB external drive (USB) that I want to partition. I have 85GB on data on it now and really don't want to copy it back to the Mac HD (if at all possible).
When I run Disk Utility/Partition and select 2 partitions, it allows me to shrink either partition to ~52GB - smaller than my current data size. So I'm not confident what I am doing will partition w/o erasing data.
The drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
My eventual goal is to use SuperDuper for a clone backup. I'm using the free version that only allows erase & copy. If I purchase SD, could I add a clone to the external w/o erasing existing data?
Any other suggestions?

"Erase data" vs "Reset all settings"... do both erase Restrictions?

I would like to prevent my son from resetting his iPhone, thus erasing the Restrictions (General>Restrictions) I have set.
I think that he can't use the Reset function (Settings>General>Reset) without knowing his iCloud password (which he does not know).
But what about the "Erase all data" function (Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Erase Data) when one enters a Passcode wrong 10 times? Would that also erase the Restrictions? And if so, is there anything to prevent that from being done?
It looks as if that feature can be turned off, so that 10 Passcode attempts does not erase the data, but there is nothing to prevent a person from going in and turning that feature back on.

However, performing a factory restore would turning off Find My iPhone on the device, which disables Activation Lock. This is described here:

But ... turning off Find My iPhone requires the Apple ID and password, which you say is not available!

How do I turn off the new "Erase Data" feature

With 2.1, in Settings>General>Passcode Clock, there is the option to "Erase Data" which will "Erase all data on this iphone after 10 failed passcode attempts". Mine is set to "Yes", but is grayed out so I cannot turn it off.

It is a cool feature, but my kids pick up my phone and try to use it all the time - it is only a matter of time before they try ten times and I'll be screwed.

Mine is set to on as well and greyed out.. Here is the catch. Im syncing to my companies exchange as well. For all our smart phones they request a mandatory pin and require a remote wipe after 10 failed attempts. Now if you think back to when you setup your exchange.. did it require you to put in a pin, and can your disable that pin if you wanted? if the answers are yes and no respectively then chances are your company does the same thing mine does and you would not be able to disable the erase data option unless you stop syncing to echange. What does "Audio Synch" in Creative Media Source actually

Does Audio Synch
. Make the data on the micro the same as the data on Media Source? I am kinda vague about the whole "synch" concept. I know WMP 0 has it too. I would like to try it, just for fun, but am not willing to jeapordize the 600 or so songs I now have on my micro.

Audio sync syncs the audio files between your player and your computer. You aren't gonna lose your files by synching .....

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Can you reliably erase data after HDD disc i/o error?

My HDD has failed with disc i/o error on my 24" Intel based iMac.
Does any one know if Disc Utility can reliably erase data despite the hard drive failure?
I'm in the process of disposing my iMac and want to make sure all my data is securely erased before doing so. Otherwise, I'll need to resort to physically removing the drive.

If you zeroed the disk using the security option (which you did) and it succeeded, then the bad sectors were likely remapped to spare sectors. However, you might want to check it periodically to see if the drive continues to develop bad sectors. If it does it's actually likely a mechanical failure in the process of developing.
I use a product called Scannerz to test my drives, and the repair procedure they recommend is to do what you've done but using only a single zeroing pass. After such an event occurs they recommend testing the drive periodically at increased intervals for a while to verifiy that more sectors aren't going bad. If they are it apparently indicates bearing wear and either the platter is wobbling enough to cause the heads to crash onto the platter or the bearings in the actuator arm are going bad with the same result. Itouch does not synch

I am using Veristand 2014, Scan Engine and EtherCat Custom Device. I have not had this error before, but I was trying to deploy my System Definition File (run) to the Target (cRio 9024 with 6 modules) and it failed. It wouldn't even try to communicate with the target. I get the 'connection refused' error.
I created a new Veristand project
I added the Scan Engine and EtherCat custom device.
I changed the IP address and auto-detected my modules
i noticed tat Veristand didn't find one of my modules that was there earlier. (this week)
So, i went to NiMax to make sure software was installed and even reinstalled Scan Engine and Veristand just to make sure.
Now, it finds the module, but when i go to deploy it getsto the last step of deploying the code to the target, and then it fails.
Any thoughts?

Can you deploy if you only have the two 9401 modules in the chassis (no other modules) and in the sysdef? I meant to ask if you could attach your system definition file to the forum post so we can see it as well (sorry for the confusion).
Are you using any of the specialty configurations for the 9401 modules? (ex: counter, PWM, quadrature, etc)

"BP Category 1 does not fit the data in category 2" "Replies Appreciated"

Hi Gurus,
When i am trying to create an "Individual Account" in UI, I am getting the error "BP Category 1 does not fit the data in category 2".
If i try to create a "group" then it says "BP Category 3 does not fit the data in category 2".
It allows me to create only "Corporate Account" i..e. Category 2.
What should i do to create "Individual Account" and "Group". (Category1 & Category 3).
Individual Account (Category 1) - "BP Category 1 does not fit the data in category 2".
Corporate Account (Category 2) - Able to create only Corporate Account
Group (Category 3) - "BP Category 3 does not fit the data in category 2".

Hope this SAP Note : 1232459, Solves your problem.
You might have created a custom configuration for corporate accounts.
Unfortunately in case of custom configurations exist, they are selected with higher priority.
So in this case the configuration for corporate accounts is also shown for individual accounts,
this causes error.
In order to solve this problem, create a custom configuration for individual account also,
i.e for view BP_HEAD/AccountDetails. Object type BP_ACCOUNT and object subtype INDIVIDUAL.
Please make sure that the custom configuration includes the fields firstname and lastname for
persons instead of name1 and name2 which are only allowed for corporate accounts.

CRM 2007 IC : error "BP category 2 does not fit the data in category 1"

When I am trying to save the data on the Bupacreate page it gives the error as follows.
"BP category 2 does not fit the data in category 1".
Can anyone suggest what is causing this error to happen and how this error can be corrected.

Hi,
This error usually occrus when you try to set field in without specifing bptype ie person, group etc. In our scenario we were trying to set field in Person which was not present in group. but since do_prepare_output method is same in both, that feild was getting set for group as well. When we placed restriction this error got removed.
