    Hi,
    1. Based on the following link, your machine only supports DDR2 RAM:
       http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/Pavilion+DV7+Series/Pavilion+dv7-3020sa-upgrades.h...
2, No, this will not work and you can not put in physically.

    HI guys ,
Please i wanna to know does my [toshiba a200-10w|http://gulf.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?LNG=13&service=AE&PRODU CT_ID=127560&DISC_MODEL=1] supports DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM, because i need to upgrade my ram but all i found in the market is DDR2 PC2-6400.
    I already got 1 module 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 installed, so if i get on 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400, it will work or not?
And if it will work does the dual channel feature will work?
About the HDD what is the maximum HDD capacity i can in stall in the same model because i'll get 1TB , so this will work ?
PS : my OS is windows 7 professional ..
    Thanks much guys ..

    Hi
The notebook supports the Intel 945GM chipset.
This chipset seems to support max 533MHz.
So if you would plug 667MHz memory modules, then the system would still works at 533MHz.
The modules are DDR2 so I dont see any reasons why the dual channel should not work in your case.
    >About the HDD what is the maximum HDD capacity i can in stall in the same model because i'll get 1TB , so this will work ?
Notebook supports SATA interface. The SATA controller has not limitation to the HDD size so theoretically you should be able to use such big HDD but to be honest; I never used such big HDD. The biggest one which I used in by notebook was 500GB and this was big enough.
However, you will need to test it to b e100% sure.

Your motherboard does not support ddr2 memory which uses a different socket.
Agreed. In addition: none of the current Athlon 64 CPUs is actually supporting DDR2 (memory controller is built in CPU, remember?). You will have to wait for the new CPUs (socket AM2) which will be available in June 2006.

  • Does the P6N SLI-FI support this ram?

OCZ2P8002GK is the model ram that i have. I really like th board but need to know if it will support my ram.
    Thanks
    DLM

    Welcome dlmx,
I do not have OCZ RAM, however MSI says this board-
"Supports dual channel DDR2 533/667/800, using four 240-pin/1.8V DDR2 DIMMs."
1.8v being the critical factor, though it seems from this and other forums that OCZ
has had a run of bad karma.
Anyway the most extensive reference is probably the test report(s) on this board and ram,
    located here:
The manual contains the QVL. It is a short one page, no OCZ. For that matter, I do not recall seeing OCZ in the test report either, though I could be wrong. The list may have been updated as well. Download it and check. The manual is also freely available for download.
So far I'm liking my board, but you can see I'm using Patriot PC-6400LLK (saw a review on this board that used it, kinda like a word-o-mouth recommendation).

its a CPU problem not a mobo. don't be disappointed from the board. if the CPU can work with DDR2 the board will have those DIMM slots.
i mean if you got board with DDR2 memory support and also have DDR2 memory sticks, you have to change CPU as well.

  • X38 Diamond and P45 Diamond; endless reboots before POST

    Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problems with two MSI-boards now, and I have had the same problem with a another MSI P35-based board earlier (belive it was a P35 Premium with a C2Q Q6600 - I replaced the board and the config worked fine with a Gigabyte P35-board).
These system don't share any components.
For the P45 Diamond I use a C2Q Q9300, 4 GB of Crucial PC6400 DDR2, Asus GeForce 8600GTS and WD 250 GB SATA HDD. I was able to build the system, install the software and use it for about a week before the trouble starts. When I power the system, fans starts spinning, before it restarts it self over and over again.
On this system I have tried to change the PSU from a Antec 500W to a Corsair 450W, without any difference...
The X38 Diamond system runs with a C2D E4200, 4 GB of Corsair XMS3-1800, GeForce 7800GTX, 250 GB WD SATA HD and a 900W Fortron Source Epsilon PSU. The problem is the same: I was able to get the system up running, install Windows and drivers, and after a few days the problems start. I turn on the system, and after a few seconds it turn itself off, then on, then off and so it goes.
Other than being in the same room, and buildt by me, these systems don't have anything in common. I have used different power-sockets also, on seperate circuits, and that itself should not be a problem.
Tried resetting CMOS on the boards, disconnecting HDD and other stuff that ain't really needed to POST... As I said. At first these systems worked fine, but after a few days of use, problems started. The P45 Diamond-system was buildt some months ago and they put away because of the problems, and now the similar problems with the X38-based setup...

If I am not mistaken, the VIA P4M800 Pro Chipset used on this board is actually capable of addressing up to 4GB of system memory (minus reserved address areas of course).  As it says 2GB max. on all the product sites I checked, I suppose the 2GB limit is not a misprint on the sites but rather a board limitation.

    Hi harrrrrsh,
Here is a helpful guide on upgrading to Win 8.1. Your system hardware seems to meet the minimum requirements.
Expand "Can my PC run Windows 8.1?" and navigate to the Win 8 Upgrade Assistant. Select run or save the Win 8 Upgrade Assistant to your desktop. Then run the upgrade assistant from the desktop for a detailed analysis of your PC and the steps needed to complete the upgrade.
Upgrading from XP to Win 8.1 is a big move and you may have device driver problems. You may also have some issues migrating third party legacy software to the Win 8.1 installation.
I have upgraded Win XP PC's to Win 7 with very few issues but have not moved an XP PC to Win 8.1.
