Does a1429 gsm works in canada?

I've got the Iphone A1429 GSM that is sold in the netherlands. does it work in  Canada with a Canadian carrier?

The wireless/cell phone provider available in your area may depend on who has a license in the province where you live.
The following is a list of the largest mobile carriers in Canada:
Bell Mobility: Ontario & Quebec (CDMA)
Rogers / Fido-Microcell: Ontario & Quebec (GSM)
Telus Mobility: Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec (CDMA)
Virgin Mobile: Ontario (CDMA-PCS)
Sprint Canada: Ontario, Quebec (GSM or CDMA depending on the region)
Aliant: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, and Newfoundland & Labrador (CDMA)
SaskTel: Saskatchewan (CDMA)
Mobile phones from abroad
If you come from Europe and want to keep your phone in Canada, you may need to go with the only GSM operators in the country, but still need to verify the following:
The frequency of your phone
Whether or not your phone is unlocked to receive a new SIM card.

  • Can I buy Model A1429 (GSM model) in Canada?

In apple's announce, New iPhone has 3 models, A1428 (GSM model) , A1429 (GSM model) , A1429 (CDMA model) .
A1428 model can use LTE on band 4 and band 17.
But I hardly use iPhone in Canada, wherease I can use iPhone in other countries (ex. UK, Germany, Singapore...)
So I want to buy A1429 model in Canada.
Can I buy Model A1429 (GSM model) in Canada?

The answer is no you can not Canada's cellphone providers uses the A1428 model only not the A1429 CDMA/GSM used  in the United States unless you are a (sprint) or a (Verizon) subscriber.

  • HT1937 Will a factory unlocked iPhone 5 A1429-GSM work in S Korea & USA?

According to Apple, the model A1429 (GSM) is the one for South Korea- LTE bands 1 (2100 MHz), 3 (1800 MHz) and 5 (850 MHz).
When I return to the US in 2014 will I be able to use it on Verizon and sprint's network? I noticed that the LTE band 1, 3 and 5 are also supported by those two US carriers.  However, those two carriers use a different platform/technology (CDMA).
I am positive that the A1429 GSM will use a nano sim card.  What about the CDMA? Please clarify.
I am contract free as of yesterday and able to go with either of the carriers and be able to factory unlock it before my departure in January 2013. However, the hardware must work in Korea and in the US.
Another option that I am considering is a factory unlocked iPhone 4S, but I cant find a 32GB.  I am very reluctant with this option as I am afraid that when I return to the US (Jan 2014) things will drastically change and I wont be able to enjoy the new advancements in the mobile tech world because I have a hardware that wont handle them.
    Thank you.

Apple does sell the A1429 GSM in Europe

  • HT3939 if I purchased iPhone 5 GSM A1429, then I tried to use CDMA SIM card inside the same phone, does it'll work and provide me signals ???

    Hi All,
Regarding iPhone 5, at the latest model, if I bought an unlocked one from UK Apple Store,  iPhone 5 GSM   A1429, then I tried to use CDMA SIM card inside the same phone, does it'll work and provide me signals or not. ??
    Thanks for your answering.

The answer is complicated. None of the major carriers offer PAYG service in the US, but if you buy a contract-free phone for full price you can get a plan that can be canceled at any time from any of the major carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile). There are smaller resellers that offer PAYG service (StraightTalk, for example), but they are hard to deal with.
The most liberal is the GSM carrier T-Mobile. They have "unbundled" the phone from the service, so if you bring your own phone or pay full price for a phone the monthly cost will be lower.
The other 3 will charge you the same monthly cost whether you pay full price for the phone or get a subsidized phone.
Verizon iPhone 5 series phones are unlocked out of the box for international use (thanks to a condition the FCC imposed on Verizon when they were allowed to buy a substantial chunk of spectrum). They are the only phones sold in the US that will work on LTE bands in the UK and Europe.
Sprint is not a good choice, because they give you a hard time if you want to unlock your phone.
AT&T phones are locked, but they will unlock the phone if you pay full price or pay off your early termination fee. However, they will only work on GSM in the UK, not on LTE (4G).

  • "Track Shipment" is iOS4 does not work for Canada Post tracking numbers

Not 100% sure this is the best forum to post this but couldn't find an iOS specific forum.
When an email arrives with a shipment tracking number embedded in it, iOS4 is smart enough to recognize it and turn it into a link. You click the link, select "Track Shipment" and in theory you get sent off to the appropriate shipment tracking website.
Problem is that this does not work for Canada Post tracking numbers, I get sent to the USPS tracking site instead of the Canada Post one. I assume that the number format is similar but there must be a way to distinguish between CPC tracking numbers and USPS tracking numbers (by range ?).

This has since become working in 4.0 and higher.
I noticed I now get a notes folder for each of my email accounts (ie. in my case; MobileMe gets one, Gmail gets another, and Virgin Media a yet another). And all three since accordingly correctly between Notes mailbox on iPhone 4 and it's counterpart Notes mailbox in the mac mail app under Reminders section.
Additionally, just like other main mailboxes (inbox, drafts, sent, trash, junk), they also have a "unified" box at the top in both mac and iphone, in order to view notes in all email accounts at the same time.
Hooray Apple, shame it took so long, but at least it's here now

Will I be able to text and call, but not use wireless data?
You'll be able to call, text & use data.

  • Unlocked iPhone 5 offered online (part no MD293LL/A) A1429 GSM or A1428 GSM?

Is the unlocked gsm iPhone 5 offered at the online apple store with part number MD293LL/A the A1429 GSM or the A1428 GSM model?

I did a little more reserach on the Apple website and also found several articles on the web.  Here are few additional facts (and maybe opionions) that should help your purchase decisions:
    1) Apple has three models out - one A1428 and two in A1429:
    GSM model A1428*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 4 and 17)
    CDMA model A1429*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25)
    GSM model A1429*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5)
    2) There are two different labels for A1429 - (GSM) and (CDMA).  The CDMA model has GSM capabiltiy (as per #1) and will work in Europe.
    3) All three models have the same GSM band capabilities.  The main difference is that one supports CDMA and all three have different LTE bands (but some overlapping).
    4) The A1429 CDMA model supports 5 LTE bands (3 of which overlap with the other A1429 GSM, i.e. European version)
    5) There are three submodels of A1429: MD297, MD654, MD656.  MD654 is the US version for Verizon.  MD297 is the European version (you can check it out by logging on to any European Apple Online store, e.g. apple.com.uk).
My conclusion is that all Unlocked phones purchased in US will work on the Eureopan GSM, but not all phones will get the full benefit of the LTE bands.  It appears that the Verizon phone (A1429) will get the best LTE performance in Europe.  The Verizon phone appears to be the only true world phone.
BTW - I think the reason that Apple decided to manufacture 3 models is to save on manufacturing costs as they didn't have to put CDMA in all phones (only for Verizon) and needed to offer special LTE bands (only for AT&T).

  • Can the iphone 5s bought in HK can work in Canada LTE ?

can the iphone 5s bought in HK can work in Canada LTE ?

    Hi Good morning!
When it comes to warranty it'll be applicable only in the country were you bought it from... now when it comes to international GSM usage you need to keep the following in mind:
T-Mobile is selling contractless iPhones (NOT FACTORY UNLOCKED), yes they are internationally sim unlocked as mentioned on the Apple online US store BUT it'll be under T-Mobile conditions which you can find here: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1588 (please read it before taking the decision).
So if you're expecting to buy an iPhone 5s either from Apple or T-Mobile (online or physical store) and use it out of the US since day one... You better wait until Apple itself releases the GSM unlocked version otherwise be ready to activate your phone with T-Mobile first and wait 40 as a minimun requirement to have it internationally unlocked and use it anywhere with GSM carriers. (Again, take a look at the previous link for full requirements).

  • I have purchased iphone 4s frm india n i wana ask shud it will work in canada ?

Plz tell me dat shud iphone will work in canada if i shifted there !! Purchased frm india nt from any service provider !

If you bought it on the gray market, there is no telling what state it's in.

  • A1429 GSM or GSM+CDMA

    Hi,
I'm from Indonesia and I bought an iPhone 5 about nine months ago. The seller said that this phone A1429 GSM model. But yesterday I updated my iPhone manually download the firmware "iPhone5,1_7.0.2_11A501_Restore.ispw" which they said it for GSM only.
But after I download those firmware and try to update my phone, itunes reject the firm ware and said "the firmware is not compatible with this model".
I do some research and I tried to download "iPhone5,2_7.0.2_11A501_Restore.ispw" (GSM+CDMA) model and it works to update my phone.
I'm wondering which model that my iPhone 5 have? it is all iPhone 5 A1429 in SouthEast Asia (especially in Indonesia) use GSM+CDMA firmware to update it? or they just gave me the GSM+CDMA iPhone 5?
Why did Apple made the same model number A1429 with different hardware.. This is so confusing...
In my country doesn't have 4G LTE network yet, but I didn't planning to change my phone in 2 years from now. I just want to make sure that my phone do have 4G LTE network..
    Thanks..

1 A USA iphone will not be covered by warranty outside US .The warranty is NOT international
If you are not concerned by this any fault will require you taking it back to the US for service ,warranty or post warranty .
    2. The European version is the A1429GSM model not sold in US ad the US models will not work on LTE outside NA despite some  commonality of bands .The bands apparently have to be the same set
    3. An unlocked A1428 GSM will work on 3G ( not a sim free  but must be a non carrier locked from Apple )
4 A1429 CDMA will work if the sim slot is not locked by the US CDMA Carrier on 3G in Europe with a local sim
Note there is NO CDMA in Europe it is all GSM

  • Which model (A1428 GSM, A1429 CDMA or A1429 GSM) of iPhone 5 is going to be sold in Apple Stores in USA, when unlocked iPhone 5 become available for purchase?

    Hi guys,
I live in Europe, but i have a relative who travels often in USA and i would like him to buy me an iPhone 5 as soon as it gets available unlocked in Apple Stores. The thing is that with 3 existing models of the iPhone 5 being sold since its release, i have no clue which model will be sold in the unlocked version of the phone in Apple Stores. I obviously need the A1429 GSM model since i live in Europe, but will it be available in Apple Stores in USA unlocked, or only the other models will be sold? Will there may be the option to choose whichever of the 3 you like? Do you guys have any information about it?
    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, as a Veriizon subscriber, Verizon will not sell an unlocked iPhone.  They will only sell those locked to their network.
Apple does sell unlocked iPhones, but it is best to make arrangements ahead with the store you are going to buy from to be sure they have what you want on hand.
As I said, from what I have seen, the A1249 is not available in the US.

Here is what Apple says on their Canadian web-site:
    <http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone?mco=OTY2ODA2OQ# faqs>
"Can I use my iPhone outside my home country?
Yes. iPhone is enabled to work on carrier networks using GSM around the world. Because the iPhone sold by the Apple Online Store is commitment-free, you can purchase a SIM or micro-SIM card and service from a local carrier at your destination. "
