Does Acrobat Pro/Reader recognize https: (WebDAV) folders?

I have scoured the internet and these forums but can't find a definitive answer.
When trying to open a PDF on a WebDAV folder from Acrobat Pro/Reader (File->Open), I get this error: "Adobe Reader could not open 'filename' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged."
However, if I double-click the PDF from the WebDAV folder, Pro/Reader will open it. Performing a File->Open will not work.
This behavior happens on any XP machines that I try.
Note: This is NOT the the syntax error that is remedied with MS KB943337.

Hi Onewizard,
I tried and checked this on different version of Acrobat and Reader however not able to replicate this behavior. I am on MAC 10.6.8

    Does Acrobat Pro read the content in pdf file and transforms it to xls file without the need for much changes or manual work?

    Acrobat X (Standard and Pro) will save tabular data to XLS or XLSX format, provided it can recognize the table as being a table. If the PDF has missing or incorrect structure tags, Acrobat will try to guess the table layout by the position of text and lines on the page - this works well for basic formatting but if the table has complex styling, spanned cells etc. it can lead to problems.
    Acrobat X will even attempt to export a table within a scanned document, by applying OCR during the export stage - though again this relies on the table being visually identified.
    See http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/pdf-to-word-excel-converter.html and this article on how to extract one table from a larger document.

    My Daughter likes to create Calendars, as a Document,  in Mircrosoft Publisher; does Acrobat Pro have a similar feature? do make such a document?

    No, but that's not a problem. Acrobat isn't used to "make" documents in the way Word, or Pubisher, or whatever is. Instead, you continue to use Word or Publisher or whatever, and CONVERT the file to PDF. For every change, no matter how small, you change the original and make it again.

  • Does Acrobat Pro version 9 support Multi-frame/image  TIF

    does acrobat pro version 9 sdk/api support converting multi-fram/image tiff into pdf ?

    Ok I'm probably missing something here.  I found examples and documenation for AVConversionConvertToPDF
    However, it all seems to be in C.  My trouble seems to stem from my not being able to figure what object to declare for which that method is a member of.
    Is not AVConversionConvertToPDF not supported in VB?  Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
    Thanks for your help

    [CRASH LOG INFO DELETED BY HOST]

    I used FontNuke and cleared all the font caches, unfortunately it did not work.
    Then, I tried something different since I was able to open Acrobat on my other user accounts.
    I logged out of my user account, logged on to another one (created a test user) then I went to: (file:///Users/TEST/Library/Preferences/)  and copied the files below to an USB key. Then I logged to my original user account and pasted the files in the same folder (file:///Users/USER/Library/Preferences/)
    com.adobe.acrobat.90.sh.plist
    com.adobe.118.registration
    com.adobe.UpdateInstaller.plist
    com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro_x86_9.0.plist
    Note: Since I created a new user, the prefs folder barely had any prefs, thus making it easier to find all the acrobat pref files.
    It worked perfectly.....

  • Why does Acrobat Pro XI continually crash in Windows 8.x?

    When using Acrobat Pro XI on a Dell Optiplex 990 runing Windows 8 and, after upgrade 8.1 it continually crashes. Just trying to save it will crash, but almost any operation will randomly have it fail.

    I am having crash problems on Acrobat XI Pro using MS Surface Pro2 with Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.
    After you make a number of comments on a 13 page document; and if you scroll up or down to different pages all the comments (underlining, text boxes, call outs etc.) cannot be seen, the comments entered do not show till you make some more clicks or do something more. After sometime the comments will show up again- very awkward behavior by the program not experienced in Adobe Acrobat X Pro which I operated on a MS Surface Pro with Windows 8.0
    The Surface Pro2 that I have has 8GB RAM, and there aren't any other applications/programs operating using the RAM.
    Not sure if Adobe XI Pro is being tested on a Windows 8.1 with updates as necessary.
    The fact that comments get missing make it difficult to view the document in a meeting on a screen with others......Discouraging to use Adobe.......the only option is to convert to MS Word and maintain stability of program and work done on it.
    It does at times hang and then you have to salvage the document after you close and open the program again and at times if the file was not saved the data is lost.

  • Why Does Acrobat Pro Looses Font Type

    Hello All -
    I am putting up a web site and have up-loaded a few PDF files that were created with Acrobat Pro for Windows.  I have used Adobe's font type - Lithos Bold.  When I open the file on my computer or another persons computer the PDF's have maintained the Lithos Blod font.  But, when I up-load the same file(s) to my web site via FTP and then check the site, the Lithos Bold font is not showing up.
    The web site I am working on is a very entry level work in progress - one link to the PDF file is at:
    http://themirrorgroup.com/nasa/wp-content/PDF/CultureOfInclusion.pdf
    the other link to look at is (and this one maintained its formatting) - why, I hope someone can answer the question.
    http://themirrorgroup.com/nasa/wp-content/PDF/BestWorstCaseScenarios.pdf
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Doyle

    I have no idea what you are talking about. Both files look fine to me. Can you post a screen capture of the problem and point out what the problem is. Both files have Lithos Bold embedded. The Arial and such might be a problem, but the Lithos should not be a problem. There is an outside chance you have Acrobat turned on to use Local fonts and you do not have that one on your system.

  • Does Acrobat Pro Subscription Extend to Tablet?

    I would like to print ("share") to pdf from my Samsung tablet.  I note that my subscription includes use on mobile devices.  However, when I attempt to share to pdf, I'm caught in a dialogue that invites me to subscribe to the PDF pack.  I can't discern where I am to enter my existing subscription credentials.  Does Acrobat's mobile support extend to Android devices?

    I don't think you need a serial number.  I did the same thing you did... month to month Acrobat Pro and I found that it works fine with no serial number.  When you log in to your account it can tell that you have a subscription.  If you stop paying I think it will stop working.  Probably they designed it that way to make sure you continue to pay each month.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro & Reader 9 broken

    I downloaded and installed the latest updates yesterday which included Mac OS X 10.6.3. When I tried to open a PDF with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, it immediately crashes. The same is true for Acrobat Reader 9. I can open PDFs just fine with Preview. However, there are times I need some of the features of Acrobat Pro.
    Has anyone else had this problem after the latest update? And fixes or suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Have you installed all the updates available from Adobe for Acrobat Pro and Reader?

  • Does Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 work with Yosemite 10.10.2

    I am running an iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, with an ATI Radeon graphics card. • Acrobat pro  & Reader conflicts?

    I have had Adobe acrobat pro 6.0 on my computer for quite a while now as well as reader.  Suddenly last week I could not open any pdf links in websites that I would click.  I would get the message that I needed reader 8 or 9.  I updated the reader to 9 and still got the message.  I uninstalled pro ( which I really need in oder to convert docs to pdf) and now I can open the links but only after downloading them and telling it which program to use to open it.  I really need some help here!  Thanks so much!!!

    Adobe neither recommends nor supports both Reader and Pro because of conflicts similar to what you are having. My best advice is to byte the bullet and upgrade or when necessary use a 3d party reader so as not to cause conflicts.

  • Does Acrobat Pro 9 support "page-break-before" CSS tag? ie Pagination issues

    Hey there
    Converting a whole stack of html files to PDF and having some pagination issues.  Titles not staying with images and tables getting chopped in half by page breaks etc.
    Thought i could solve it by using carefully placed "page-break-before:always" tags where i wanted the page break.  Works as expected in Safari when i go to print but not when i "File:Create PDF: From File" in Acrobat Pro.  They get ignored.
    Here's how they should work:
    http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/page.html#x3
    This is a major hassle. I've got over 600 webpages to convert to PDF's and manually entering <br> to force items onto the next page is getting old.
    Here's some sample html, paste it into a file, save, open it in Safari and then go to print.  It should print 7 pages.  Open it in Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 and you get one page.
    <body>
    test0
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test1
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test2
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test3
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test4
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    </body>
    The really nice thing is this would be so useful.  You can attach the tag (page-break-before:avoid)  to a Caption style and always be assured that it will stay with a following graphic when you print the webpage. Or use it to make sure a table doesn't get cut in half.

    Nope.  Did the </br> thing.
    Cost me some serious cash.  Very annoying.
    I haven't tried it with Safari 5. Acrobat allowed me set page margins, something that Safari 4 didn't allow (didn't support margin css tags).  But acrobat didn't support the pagination and Safari 4 did.
    Like i said annoying
    I'll see if Safari 5 supports the print margins css tags.
    I'll prob get asked to do this again so would like to sort it out
