Does Adobe plan to release a 64 bit version of the Authorware Web Player?

I know that Adobe has no plans to continue development of Authorware 7. However, as a service to their loyal customers who have purchased Authorware along with many other Adobe products, it does not seem like a daunting task to convert the 32 bit version of the Web Player over to a 64 bit version. This would facilitate individuals who are using IE 64 bit version browsers to run Authorware developed e-learning products.
Adobe, we are once again at your mercy. How will you respond?

Will it be possible to make a copy of all the security settings in IE10 that will guarantee that the AW Player will run without any problems?
It is not the player that is the problem – it is the security settings in IE10!

  • Is there a 64-bit version of the Firefox 4 release candidate?

I've been using the 64-bit nightly builds and wanted to switch over to the RC that was just released, however, I was only able to download the 32-bit version of the browser. Is there a location where I can download the 64-bit version?

Mozilla isn't going to be releasing a 64-bit version of Firefox 4.0 for Windows. The 64-bit nightly versions of Minefield will have to be used until Mozilla releases it in a future version.

Mac Mini 2012.  I've tried twice and it will not burn me the 32-bit version of the Bootcamp drivers for my Windows 7 32-bit install.  Where can I get the blasted 32-bit drivers?

For what it's worth, I don't have OpenCL capability in 32 bit Photoshop either, and I have an ATI card.
Notably the 32 bit Adobe GPU sniffer application says nothing about OpenCL support.  It may just be something they don't do (though I have never been able to get them to say so).  It would make sense for them to concentrate on 64 bit mostly, since there's no Macintosh 32 bit version at all.
As far as I understand it, if you don't have OpenCL, Photoshop will attempt to implement GPU programming via OpenGL shader, so you may not be missing anything at all.
FYI, here are respective sniffer outputs:

  • Is there a 64-bit version of the CC compiler itself?

    Hello,
We have a large (~4k lines) .cpp file which brings in a very large number of templates. On our v440 we see the compiler using more and more memory until it reaches 2Gb when it falls over with the message
"Insufficient memory is available for compilation to continue."
    sun02% uname -a
    SunOS sun02 5.8 Generic_117350-05 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440

/opt/v11/SUNWspro/bin/CC: ELF 32-bit MSB executable SPARC32PLUS Version 1, V8+ Required, dynamically linked, stripped
Is there a 64-bit version of the compiler which could handle code of this size? The large .cpp will be very difficult to split up.
Interestingly, on our Xeon-based box running Solaris 10, the compilation is very very slow, but does complete OK.

Unfortunately, there is no 64-bit version of the compiler.
    Some things you can try:
Reduce the size of individual compilation units (the total amount of source code seen by the compiler in one compilation run).
Re-factor very large functions into smaller ones. During optimized compilation, the memory usage and compilation time is super-linear in the number of basic blocks in one function.
    Reduce the optimization level.

  • Why does Apple refuse to make a 64 bit version of quicktime for Windows?

For those of us in digital media creation Quicktime is a highly used App, how ever access to 4+ gigs of ram is more important. I'm making the switch to a 64-bit OS in the next week or so, and it's really frustrating to see that Apple, after how many years since XP64 first hit, STILL does not have a 64-Bit version of Quicktime. What is the hold up?
I also don't understand how they can release something where one of the main features is busted for multiple versions. I had to stick with an older version of QT for quite awhile before the load image sequence was fixed. Why are their Windows customers treated as second class citizens?

  • Does Adobe Premier Pro CS6 and After Effects CS6 support the graphic found in the new late 2012 27" iMac?

Hi there guys! I´m very, very, VERY close to buy a full configuration iMac (the late 2012 27" model) but I have reed in different forums that Adobe Premier Pro CS6 and other applications from Adobe such as After Effects DO NOT support the graphic cards found in the new iMacs....
    is this true??????
i really wouldn´t understad the logic behid the decission of picking a graphic card that is not supported by one of the leading video editing sofrware used today.... specially when this computer is suppoused to be an Editing Animal....
I hope this rumor is not real..... then I can be just... really happy and get my new desktop computer and work, work, work, work
    thanks for your attention

Hi there Daniel, thanks for paying attention to this subject. Today I got an answer from Larry Jordan from his blog (I believe he is one of the "videoguys" from http://videoguys.com and he said that actually adobe does not support those GPU that we will find in the new late 2012 iMacs. However it seems there is a way to make that work out.....
here is his review on his new iMac, at the very botton you will see comments from people and his answers... one of the last coments is mine regarding this subject, this is what I asked and his answer:
mGabo Jan 18, 2013 08:50Hi there Larry, I reed in your other post on your iMac that Adobe didn´t support the Nvidia graphic cards found in this model, I have been asking in forums about this and people say Adobe does supports them……Do you know if Adobe now works fine with these cards?
Larry Jan 18, 2013 11:10When I contacted Adobe about this a couple months ago, just after the release of the new iMacs, I was told that Adobe did not support the graphics card at that time. There is, however, a workaround, which I’m hoping to write up this weekend.Larry
mGabo Jan 18, 2013 12:28 oh! great Larry! please post the link of that article so I can follow that!many thanks

  • Can I please get an email, when you guys finally release a 64-bit version of Firefox?

Here's what I posted on the Firefox Developer site, after spending enough time there to get a sense of what they're doing, and why they have totally failed to issue a 64-bit version of Firefox.
So, my question is: where can I register an email address, to make sure I get notified when Firefox issues a 64-bit version?
I think I'm starting to see why the "developer community" for Firefox has failed to grasp the NEED to issue a 64-bit version. It clearly has become a very cozy and comfortable group of insiders, who can all feel comfortable with the tech-nerd level of the group, and don't want to be bothered by us outsiders who don't belong to developer groups.
Meanwhile, the fact that Java compatibility, across different 32-versus-64 bit browsers, is causing us outsiders lots of problems, is driving outsiders like me to say, "To hell with those nerds. If they can't find some way to issue a modern version of Firefox, I'm deleting it, and going to Chrome, instead, as my main alternative to IE".
You guys provided a real nice bridge, over the past few years, which really did help force Microsoft make IE a whole lot better.
But, you got just too incestuous, and inbred, and you failed to see what was going on outside your little club.
Please send me an email, if you ever issue a 64-bit Firefox. I like Firefox a lot, and would love to use it again, some day.

Let me also copy and repeat -- since the developers' club apparently has chosen to not give it any weight or credibility -- a comment by a completely different user, in a different thread:
"I am using the 64-bit nightly, and it is FAR faster than any release in 32-bit, and I have 2GB of ram. Usually the addon compatibility thing takes minutes, when with the nightly 64-bit, I was done in a matter of seconds. also, I notice that it is faster, pages load faster, there is less lag, and it all around seems better than 32-bit in every aspect, even though it is just automatically compiled and not tweaked."
So, the developer's club position remains, "there really isn't much need for a 64-bit version", despite comments like that. Hmmm . . .
Are you SURE you want to stand directly behind that answer, while people shoot at it?

  • Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6 - default to 64-bit version

I have Adobe Bridge CS6 32-bit and 64-bit installed. I prefer to use the 64-bit version, but whenever I right-click a folder in Windows Explorer and choose 'Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6', the 32-bit version always opens. How can I make this default to the 64-bit version? There doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall the 32-bit version.

    Edit your System Registry on:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Bridge
Change the path that is pointing at 32bit version and set it to point at the location of 64bit version:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS6 (64 Bit)\Bridge.exe "%L"

  • A game that used to load in old browser does not load in Firefox, despite installing new version of the Adobe Flash player as instructed?

I used to have Internet Explorer as the browser on my laptop but had loads of problems. I installed Firefox as I had been told that it was more efficient. I play several application games within Facebook and one of them - Treasure Island Adventure Game - does not load whatsoever. It states if game does not load within 10 seconds to upgrade my version of the Adobe Flash player. I did that and re-started my laptop and the problem was not solved. I even deleted the application then loaded it up but it still did not make any difference.

  • Why does Adobe Elements 12 destroy my Olympus makernotes section of the metadata

I downloaded the trial version of Adobe Elements 12 and pointed it to a test folder with some of my Olympus OM-D E-M1 photos.  I viewed the file properties from within Elements which showed all of the camera info, exposure, aperture, lens used, camera make and model etc.....   I then added a couple faces with the facial recognition, added some captions saved it to the Metadata and then went back in to look at the file properties from within Elements.  All of the makernotes were screwed up.  I no longer see the lens, exposure or any of the camera data.   What's up with this?   I verified it by running EXIFTool and it shows that the makernotes now has corrupt info that EXIFtool can not read - this ends up being stuff that Elements added in.
Doesn't anyone care about camera maker notes?   Doesn't anyone use this information?   I like being able to go back and look at a picture I really like and see exactly what lens I was using, focal length it was set to, and all of the other camera settings at the time of the exposure.  It helps me learn and improve my skills.   Doesn't anyone else do this?
Is there any software out there that does NOT destroy this information?
