Does Adobe Premiere CC utilize all 24 cores of a Xeon CPU while exporting in 4K?

Hey folks,
Just wanted to bring this up to you guys regarding processing power on Premier Pro CC. The Xeon E5-2697 v2 is a 12 core CPU that comes with 24 threads and I was wondering if anyone out there utilizes all these cores while exporting in 4K?
Thanks
Eber

Here are the top three PPBM8 scoring for exporting the CPU intensive MPEG2-DVD timeline.
My heavily overclocked (4.5 GHz) i7-5960X with 8-cores scores at about 279 seconds, this is typical of other i7-5960X based systems which we have 6 other submitted scores ranging from 260 to 286
Eric at ADK supplied the first and third results showing a significant Premiere improvement in this CPU only export when going from 14 cores to 28 cores.  I hope I got the clock speed correctly, Speccy does not always give the correct clock speeds of the processor unless you run it while the benchmark is running.  Maybe he can comment
Jim Short has the second lowest time with his 16 total cores
This export is AVCHD to DVD export.  The H.264 timeline that we have in PPBM8 that includes some 4K media does not show such a large variation versus cores, but this may be due to the fact that that export is GPU assisted.

Does Adobe Premiere 7 work ok and is it supported under Vista 64 bits operating system?

No, it's not supported under any 64-bit operating system.
But it seems to work in compatibility mode, which turns on automatically in Vista. It may occasionally suffer a hiccup, but it seems to work for many people.
Just make sure all of your firmware, RealTek drivers and Quicktime are up to date.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Elements 11 download my videos to my computer so slowly?

Hey guys, I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements 11, for quite some time, and I noticed that its download speed is as slow as a turtle. I know it is not my download speed, because when I download files from the internet, or games, it goes as fast as anything. Just so you have more information, I will tell you have my recording/uploading process goes. First, I record the video (Using Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Screen Capture). Then, I would send it to my video encoder. (Microsoft Expression Encoder 4). I would then encode the video, and send that output file to Adobe Premiere Elements 11 for further editing and to download it to my computer. Now, everything up to this point takes maybe 30 minutes. But when I get to Adobe, it takes more less 3 hours (give or take a few minutes). Finally, after all that waiting, I upload it to Youtube, which takes about an hour or so. My problem is Adobe is taking far to much time to install/download the video. And as a result of that, I can only put out about a video a day. Is there any way to speed that up, or should I just get a new editing software? All feedback, and help is greatly appreciated.

The typical ways to introduce media into Premiere Elements 11 is via AddMedia which puts the source media into Project Assets and from there you drag the contents to the Timeline Expert view edit.
    These would be your choices.
You say that you used Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 and a picture from Photoshop Elements 11.
Given that you are doing screen captures with Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 and you have a photo from Photoshop Elements 11, but how are you introducing them into Premiere Elements 11? At the same time that we are looking into the how, we need to look into the what, especially for the screen captures. The video and audio formats and file extension among other things are important to the Premiere Elements workflow.
So, again I would ask you to offer answers to what I had asked
I am assuming that you are talking about the time it takes for the video to import into Project Assets for you to drag to the Timeline. Are you observing any indexing and/or conforming going on (bar at bottom right of Expert view interface) during this 3 hour await time?
Among other things, what are you using for Add Media and to get to Project Assets? And, the usual drill, what are the properties of your source media, including size and duration, video and audio compression, file extension, etc.? By comparison what is the size and duration of those Internet games et al. that seem to be transferring to your expectations?
Is this one of those issues where "it never worked before" or "it worked before but not now" specific to Adobe files of the size and duration and properties that you are focusing on?
I see the answers to all of the above as expediting the matter to get your concerns addressed.
    Please review.
    Thank you.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere CS6 slow playback after importing some audio?

    Adobe Premiere CS6.0 v6.0.2
    Mac Pro:
    1, 4 core - 3.2ghz CPU
    16gb ram (4 sticks of 4gb @ 1066 MHz)
1 Tb dive with OS/Apps on
    2Tb 7200 RPM media drive
    ATI Radeon HD 5770
    Sequence:
    30Fps
    1920x1080
    Media:
mostly .MFX files from a Canon XF100 however these clips commonly play nice with Premiere.
    Issue:
After importing some audio clips (.wav/.mp3, possibly other extensions) to the timeline on occasion the video playback will become choppy and the audio will slow down 3% creating any voices in the video to become deeper and slows down.  Choppy video playback as well.  The problem is very annoying but  it can be temporarily fixed with a computer restart but it will come back.
    Things to note:
Creating a rendered ID (Exporting the movie out to a .mov) the slowed choppy video does not appear in the final movie.
    Temp. Solution:
The only way I can fix this problem is by restarting the computer.  Simply restarting Adobe Premiere and closing any non-essential applications does not fix the problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much apperciated.

Try converting your MP3 to AIFF ,QT or something else Macs like. See if that helps.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Pro modify original footage/asset files (e.g. mov)? (CS6)

    Background:
A colleague had given me a large 33Gb .mov for use in a project, I put this file on a backup drive.
I made an identical copy of this 33Gb .mov file and placed it in a folder that I'd use to work on a Premiere Pro Project.
I ran Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and dragged in the 33Gb .mov file into the Sequence (imported it)
Premiere Pro CS6 started conforming the file.
After it had finished, I noticed that it's Modified Date was just now i.e different to the Modified Date on the original copy of the file on the backup drive (see step 1)
I ran a BeyondCompare check between the .mov file on the backup drive (see step 1) and the one that the Premiere Pro project was using (step 2, 3) and Beyond Compare reported they were different.
I had initially thought it was unrelated file corruption of some kind, but I have checked this several times and got the same outcome, so it's definitely Premiere Pro deliberately modifying the file.
So I am puzzled: these are supposed to be the same file.
Why would there be a need for Adobe Premiere Pro to modify the footage?
What does it do to the file?
Would it not be better to create a separate file if necessary?
I can accept this if that's how it works and it's good to know that it was Premiere Pro deliberately modifying the files and not corruption (so my hardware ought to be healthy). But it makes more sense to me if Premiere Pro made separate modified copies for its own use. Modifying the file as it does hinders my process for checking the integrity of backups; if the original asset footage files were the same as earlier copies then it would be easy to know that the backups are OK.
    Thoughts?

Definitive Answer (I believe): It's all about this setting, "Write XMP ID To Files On Import" - which confirms that Adobe Premiere Pro is deliberately modifying the .mov file: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/preferences.html#WSE3BD4A43-7022-4fe6-97F5-95313 935347B
These posts give some background as to why having this setting enabled would be beneficial: one benefit being to be able to skip conforming files by matching the conformed file with the original using the embedded XMP tag :-

  • Premiere & Media Encoder only using all cores of only 1 CPU

After following the recommendation of the Adobe White Paper on Premiere and Media Encoder I purchased a dual Xeon machine.  It has dual 2699 v3 processors each with 18 physical cores. Both Premiere and Media encoder will max out 36 cores (18 physical and 18 Virtual) but only on one CPU, the other CPU sits idle.  Everything I read is that Premiere and Media Encoder are multi-processor not just multi-core aware.  When I run Cinebench I get 100% across both processors (72 cores maxed out).  I do a ton of 6K Red work and I bought this machine to speed up my rendering times but so far I would have been better off with a single CPU machine as Premiere and Media Encoder seem to only run on CPU at a time.  Please HELP!!!!
    Michael

This has been driving me CRAZY... so going over the message boards from 2 to 5 am this morning I found the best explanation I have seen.   The problem is that Adobe Creative Cloud is NOT "Processor Group Aware".  Windows parses any more than 36 cores into "Processor Groups" and while the Pro version of Windows 7 & 8 can handle 256 threads they have to spread them across multiple processor groups.
Simple Version:  AREA | How many cores does 3ds Max support?
    Microsoft's Explanation:  Processor Groups (Windows)
Clearly, this is an Adobe Problem... If any engineers are reading this PLEASE review the below and incorporate it into your next build of Creative Cloud!!!
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn653313%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
Again, I bought a VERY expensive machine based on your white paper that recommended Dual Xeon Workstations.  Please, Please Give us the product you PROMISED!!!

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 quit upon playback of a sequence?

I have a new iMac 27" 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 with 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, running 10.8.5. I have a project using AVCHD files running at 59.94 fps, 1920x1080. The media is on a OWC Mercury Elite- AL Pro Qx2; it is at least 3 years old and it is connected to the iMac via a LaCie eSATA hub (with the eSATA cord). Also I have the Mercury Playback Engine GPR Acceleration (CUDA) enabled.
I can edit in a project for a while fine but then the playback starts getting weird and hanging up. The cursor jumps in the timeline and the picture freezes on a frame. Sometimes, the playback monitor screen turns a solid green. Sometimes I will then receive an error message saying "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." I usually have to force quit at this point. I try opening a new project and bringing in the sequences again. It will work for some time, and then the same problem again.
Is there a problem with Premiere Pro or do I need a faster, newer media drive?
    Thanks.

I have a brand new Mac Pro (Late 2013) with a 3GHz 8-core Intel Xeon E5 with 64GB of DDR3 and an AMD FirePro D700.
I run my machine with the latests version of OS X Yosemite.
I keep every Adobe program up to date.
I've been working straight off my internal 1TB SSD.
Any ideas or information would be great.
    Thank you!
Are you running the following update? OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 Update
Is the SSD you are running your system on one you installed, or is it factory installed from Apple?
Are you testing with a brand new project file or one you updated from a previous version?
What happens to you precisely when this issue occurs? Are you working for 5-10 minutes, then the program freezes? Or do you get a warning dialog box?
Have you checked permissions for your Adobe folders (see my blog): Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
Have you tried trashing preferences (press Shift + Option while starting Premiere Pro)?
    Thanks,

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Elements 12 render only audio?

I have a brand new laptop with all required specs to run Adobe Premiere. I only have the trial version of PRE12 at the moment. The program itself actually runs great, but I can't seem to get it to render correctly. I film on a GoPro Hero 3 White Edition camera and have been unable to get it to render any video filmed on it. I am rendering MPEGS at 1920X1080i 30fps ( which is the exact video the gorpo is said to record). This may even be a problem with wiindows media player, which II am attempting to view rendered videos on. I don't know what else to try!

Premiere Elements 12 on what computer operating system?
There are two types of rendering in Premiere Elements - Timeline render which is a preview thing to get the best possible preview of the Timeline content as viewed in the Edit area monitor AND render in the export sense of the word.
I am assuming that you are asking about render in the export sense of the word.
    1. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 12? If not, please do so.
Also go to Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime and see if you have presets there for QuickTime.
    2. Are you running Premiere Elements 12 from a User Account with Administrative Privileges and also with Run As Administrator applied via the desktop icon for the program.
Lots and lots more questions I could ask, but for now please see if we can find the solution in the above.
    Thanks.

  • Does Adobe Premiere CS5 for Mac support .m2ts (AVCHD) video?

I am trying to import video files encoded into the .m2ts (AVCHD) format into Adobe Premiere CS5 on my Mac.  Does the Mac version of Premiere CS5 support .m2ts (AVCHD) video formats?  I am currently testing this with the trial before I get this new version for the Mac.  Could using trial be the problem that even CS5 Premiere doesn't open it on my Mac?  Do I need the full version?  Thanks.

The trial does not support AVCHD for either platform.
Now, the full-paid version has no limitation, AND Adobe offers a 30-day, money-back guarantee, so if you do not like it, you can return it for a full refund, within 30 days.

  • Does adobe Premiere Pro CC edit and export 4k and higher video resolutions?

Hey Guys I am new the forum but have been using adobe products for years. I am having some problems finding if Adobe Premiere Pro CC effectively lets you edit and export video at 4k and higher. I am having a custom built computer to specifically handle high resolution output and video editing. I have a 5k monitor to go with it as we;;. Long story short is I need to make sure I can edit and export at full resolution. I am not interested in compressing the video output to 1080P from a 4k video input source. It would be a shame if I have to learn a completely new software program for my business because I have loved previous versions of the adobe premiere pro. any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am expected to get my custom build back this afternoon. Thanks in advance for any help provided!

  • Does adobe premiere element 6.5 come in different formats.

Now that I have a dual platform Mac, I'd like to upgrade my adobe premiere element 4 to adobe premiere element 6.5 as it appears to be Mac compatible. Are there 2 or more kinds of adobe premiere element 6.5  as some vendors feature the product at $649 and others at $69. I could use some help in understanding this contrast in cost.

There is often confusion about versions of Premiere. Much of this is due to Adobe's naming conventions of the programs, and some overlap in the numbers of the versions.
Basicall, the Premiere Lineup goes like this:
Pr 1.0 - PC & Mac (some dot versions in the first 6 versions, also)
    Pr 2.0 - PC & Mac
    Pr 3.0 - PC & Mac
    Pr 4.0 - PC & Mac
    Pr 5.0 - PC & Mac
    Pr 6.0 - PC & Mac
    Pr 6.5 - PC & Mac (last to be dual-platform, until CS3)
PrPro 1.0 (also called Pr 7.0 in some OEM applications) PC only. Note that the name Pro came into being.
PrPro 2.0 (referred to as CS2 and bundled in suites, such as Production Studio w/ Encore, Illustrator, PS and After Effeces) PC only). Last of the     Premiere (non-Elements line) to Burn DVD's without the use of Encore)
PrPro 3.0 (more commonly called CS3 and featured several different bundles) PC and back on the Mac) Encore no longer a stand-alone and bundled with PrPro 3.0/CS3)
PrPro 4.0 (more commonly called CS4 and featured several different bundles) PC and Mac. Now in CS4.1 version) Bundled with Encore.
    PrElements 1.0 PC only
    PrE 2.0 PC only
PrE 3.0 PC only (note big update with 3.0.2 for Vista)
    PrE 4.0 PC only
PrE 7.0 PC only (Note the jump in version numbers. This was to bring PrE into line with PSE, which was often bundled with it)
That is pretty much the history of the two programs. They share a lot of features, and parts of the Sonic Authorcore. As Steve points out, PrE was never ported for the Mac. From Pr 1.0 through Pr 6.5 the bigger program was dual-platform, until PrPro 1.0 thru PrPro 2.0, which were PC-only.
    Hope that this helps,
    Hunt
