Does Adobe Reader for iPad save annotations by/in itself (once uploaded from e.g. dropbox)

Does Adobe Reader for iPad save annotations by/in itself (once uploaded from dropbox I can still see them after closing the app or switching documents)? I lost some valuable annotations while switching documents and apps over time. How do I save them? Only by sending it to dropbox for instance?

It saves the file when:
1) The app goes to background
2) A share action (open in, email, print) occurs
3) A form submit occurs
4) You close the document by going to "Home" or "Documents", or open another document
One issue that people encounter is that they open the file in a reader that does not support annotations (like the dropbox PDF view or the iOS Mail app). It doesn't sound like this is the case for you though, since you do see the annotations.
There is a known issue, where on a small number of documents with specific properties, we fail to save changes. This is an issue that we have fixed and will be in our next release. The release is currently pending approval by Apple. It's possible that you encountered this issue, and if so, I apologize.

  • Acrobat X Pro Drop-down Fields Do Not Appear on Adobe Reader for iPad. Help!

    Hello,
I am having a problem getting drop-down fields to appear on Adobe Reader for iPad. Basically, I need to create a form that includes drop-down fields, with the end result being a form that can be viewed and completed on an iPad, using the Adobe Reader app. Above all else, the end result needs to be viewable on an iPad.
I created a form using Acrobat X Pro within which drop-down fields work flawlessly. However, when I try to open this form on an iPad, the drop-down fields do not even appear. I have done some investigating on the Web (including these forums) and come to understand that this has to do with javascript limitations on Apple products, but have yet to discover a solution to my problem.
To summarize: does anyone know how to make drop-down fields appear in Abobe Reader for iPad app? Or, does anyone know a workaround in which I could have a drop-down menu (or something similar) in my form and have it work on Adobe Reader for iPad?
Thanks in advance for the help. I took on this project from my boss' boss, so I'd really like to get this done for him.

    Hello GKaiseril,
Thanks for the reply. I experienced the issue running the most recent version of the Adobe Mobile Reader app. I'm not sure I can convince the client to use anything else, but its worth a shot.
All I need is a simple drop-down list (multiple fields in the document) with 4 options that the user can select and submit as a form. Is this something EZ Pdf reader can do? Also, is EZ Pdf Reader free? (the reason I ask is I am an Android user and do not readily have access to a iPad).
    Thanks again.

  • Attach images in Adobe Reader for iPAd

    Dear All,
In Actobat Reader for PC, we can attach images either using form with Button/Icon or Image Fields. Is there a way we can do the same thing in Adobe Reader for iPad?
    Thanks,
    Jackson

The iOS Adobe Reader does not support attaching images using form fields. Thanks for contacting us!

  • Adobe Reader for IPad Download Problem

I downloaded several files last evening but this morning I found them only in the 'recent' file and not in documents.
How can I move the files from recent to documents?
(I have a brand new iPad and the latest update of Adobe Reader for iPad.)
The only options on the 'open' menu are for  iBooks, which is so unreliable that I downloaded Adobe Reader in the first place. (The files disappear in the middle of the download.)
I tried emailing to myself to then save the PDF from email, but the docs appear as text and pics within the email and are no longer an attached .pdf.
    Any ideas?

I can't explain it, but whenever I have a problem with an iOS app, I close out and re-open.
You can also force quit an app (remove it from memory): Click the Home button to return to the Home screen. Double-click the Home button to view the recent app list at the bottom. Click and hold over the Adobe Reader icon to show the red "delete" icon. Click Adobe Reader again and it will disappear from memory.
Click the Home button and relaunch. That opens Reader up anew, and refreshes it.

  • Adobe reader for iPad disappointed me

I cant beleive it, Forms, links, bottoms… don't work with Adobe reader for ipad. ¿Why?

Adobe Reader on desktop has a primary goal to open any valid PDF file, not matter how complex the contents. As such it uses a lot of resources and relies on certain platform features only found on desktop and laptop machines. The install footprint is huge, memory consumption is significant, but it doesn't matter.
Adobe Reader on mobile cannot currently get anywhere close to that - not only are the hardware resources not yet up to the task (storage, CPU power, RAM and GPU features are feeble compared to even basic laptops), but there are limitations imposed by the platform owners on which elements can be included. For example on iOS, Reader can't currently display PDF files that contain Flash content or embedded JavaScript, and since many forms rely on scripting (for calculated fields or submit actions) it's simpler right now to say "feature X is not supported" than support part of the feature and have a case-by-case response to every document. Since opening everything isn't an option, the mobile versions of Adobe Reader go for lightweight installers and fast performance, with a much-reduced feature set. You may not agree that's the correct line to take, but it's what Adobe are doing. I'm sure if the app had a 500MB install footprint, people would be up in arms even if it did open every file on the planet.
The Acrobat Family (including Reader) is an enterprise application group, so there are  features in the new iOS app specifically intended to appeal to that type of user, such as integration with LiveCycle DRM. For enterprise, a simple, global "no" to a feature is much less strain on IT support than a complex "maybe".
What will happen in the future, I cannot say - but remember this is the first build for iOS, so it will certainly evolve over time. Personally I'd love to see forms support on the iPad, but done properly - AcroForms, XFA, scripting, signatures, etc. - and that's a huge challenge. I'd also love to see rich media and Flash support, but that's politics. I don't do politics.
Customer feedback is very welcome, positive or negative. It'd also be great to hear what types of documents people are viewing with the mobile apps, and what single feature they'd most like to see added.

  • Can I rotate pages in adobe reader for iPad.

Can I rotate pages in Adobe Reader for iPad?

Normally, the page will rotate when you rotate your iPad.
If it does not, click the Home button to return to the home screen. Click the Settings app to launch it. In the Settings list on the left, select General. In the list on the right, in the "Use Side Switch to" section, check Lock Rotation. Then check the position of the lock rotation switch on your iPad. It's found just above the volume up/down control. Make sure it's UNLOCKED.

  • Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's?

Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links created with Acrobat Standard to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's on an I Pad?

    driddy61,
As of June 2014, none of the Adobe Reader mobile products support the hyperlink action for opening a separate PDF document.
    Adobe Reader for iOS
    Adobe Reader for Android
Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8
In addition, the Reader mobile products do not open multiple windows/documents simultaneously, which would make the navigation between PDF documents nearly impossible. (Once a hyperlink takes you to a different PDF document, you have no way to go back to the original PDF document.)
The only Adobe Reader product that fulfills your department's requirements is Adobe Reader XI (mostly for Windows/Mac desktop/laptop computers).  Acrobat Pro and Standard are paid products.
Because you are in search of a less expensive device for your department, you could get a Windows tablet instead of a Windows desktop/laptop computer. Microsoft Surface Pro (that you've mentioned in your previous reply) is just one example.  You can also find other less expensive Windows tablets.
    Tablets
However, please keep in mind that there are two different types of Windows tablets running two different operating systems.
    (a) A Windows tablet with an Intel-based processor running Windows 8.1 Pro
    Example: Surface Pro 3
You can install and run traditional desktop apps (e.g. Adobe Reader XI) and new Windows Store apps ("Modern" or "Metro-style" apps).
    (b) A Windows tablet with an ARM-based processor running Windows RT 8.1
    Example: Surface 2
You can only install and run Windows Store apps (e.g. Adobe Reader Touch) but not traditional desktop apps like Adobe Reader XI.
In general, type (b) tablets are more affordable than type (a) tablets.  However, if you want to run Adobe Reader XI, you do need to check the technical specification of each tablet and make sure the following conditions are met.
    Processor: Intel
Operating system:  Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 8/8.1 Pro, not RT
Hope this helps you choose the right device for your department.  Please let us know if you have any questions about system requirements or supported features in the Adobe Reader products.

  • Drop down fields on Adobe reader for iPad

    Hello,
Regarding using an order form in adobe reader for iPad, I am able to check boxes, free form text, etc. but drop down fields are not retaining selection.  I will click drop down, make selection, and field is still blank. If I select the same drop down my choice is checked. When I email form the field remains blank.
    Any help would be appreciated!!

    Hello,
Thank you for the response.  I am currently using Adobe 11.01.  I believe I have found the problem.  Our company utilizes an app names "Showpad" for our sales teams.  Within Showpad you can open PDF's, however any interactive functionality is not available.  To solve for this, you can open a PDF within Showpad and then "open with" a different app.  In this case, I opened with Adobe Reader.  It looks like all the functionality returns to the document minus that drop down issue I am experiencing.
I tried to open the same order form from my email using Adobe Reader and all functionality is available (including drop down).
It looks as though something is getting lost between the Showpad app and Adobe Reader app.

  • Html link to pdf works ok on mac but not on ipad. adobe reader for ipad downloaded.

HTML link to pdf works ok on Mac but not on ipad. Adobe Reader for ipad downloaded. What's wrong?

    Hi pwillener,
Thank for reply. The pdf’s are in a subfolder “PDF” of the folder holding the web page. The web page itself uses
. This works in full size computer browsers but not in an iPad.
My excursion through the search engine has produced the idea of adding #page = requesting page to the URL but I have not had time to try it perhaps without the = sign.

  • Adobe Reader for iPad : Want highlighting function kept ON please!!

I am using Adobe Reader for iPad.
While studying .pdf files, I would like to keep the highlighting function on,
until I'm done. That way I don't have to keep selecting it each time.
    Thanks!!!

    Hi Hollinst,
Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestion.
We have noted your request and have added it into our feature backlog. We can't say when they'll be available, but we're constantly looking to solve the problem our loyal users encounter.

  • Adobe Reader for Mac vs. Adobe Reader for iPad

    Hi,
I have a problem with Adobe Reader for iPad. The pdf-file works perfect with Acrobat Reader on my iMac.
The pdf-file has an option to change a number of parameters in counting the total cost for owning a car.
Obviously, there is some interactivity function inbedded in the file.
When I opened the same pdf-file in Adobe Reader app for iPad the functionality is lost and it shows just
    a blank page.
Has anyone an explanation of this problem or suggestions of a solution?
I have tried different pdf-apps i.e. Goodreader without any solution.
    Can the problem be Flash-related?
    Best regards
    Janne

Try downloading the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
