Does an application of SupPkgs need a system refresh first for HCM?

We have gone live with HCM in SAP ECC 6.0, and I've been informed that we MUST first do a refresh of our DEV/QAS systems before we start the deployment of the year end HCM Canadian patches
Can anyone please shed some light on this topic?
best practices from SAP.
Up until now we were only running FI/MM/CO in SAP.

It depends what you mean by a refresh and whether they are referring to just updating the HCM data or the entire system.
Our HR department are always complaining that our DEV data needs to be updated so that when they develop new reports based on current HCM data that they can actually run it and check their changes before transporting it to QAS. Otherwise they have to continually send it to QAS just to be able to run it then make changes again in DEV, send back to QAS etc ...which becomes really time consuming. They should at least be able to run their new developments on a reasonable subset of data before sending to a QAS system. Those who have TDMS use it for this purpose, to update specific data in their DEV(and QAS) systems .
Otherwise, just a refresh of QAS is generally acceptable.

PROD Application servers are reflecting after system refresh in ST03 of QUA

We recently performed DB refresh activity from Source: Production to Target: Quality.
We have 6 application servers excluding our central instance in production system.But after the system refresh,we observed in ST03 that these production application servers are reflecting as nodes on the left hand side in Quality system after refresh.
Please help us how to delete those application servers in ST03.

In my Source system(Production) for /oracle/EPE/sapdata2 used space is only 97 GB and
In my target system /oracle/SBX/sapdata2 allocated space is 132 GB then why it is asking for 95345.757 MB?
WHY Target /oracle/SBX/sapdata2 is showing more files than the present in source /oracle/EPE/sapdata2 while all the files had been removed before
running the command brrestore -m full -b beieghis.aft -c ?

Does 10g application server 10.1.2.0.2 work for 9i database?

I have installed 9i database on UNIX. then I am trying to install 10 application server 10.1.2.0.2. But somehow it force me to install a complete 10g database, which is undesireable for me. So I just wonder whether 10g application server can work for 9i database? If it works, how to install 10g app server with 9i database?

The 10g database installed by the 10.1.2.0.2 application server is used by it as a metadata repository for configuration and also as an LDAP server for the Oracle Internet Directory.
What components of the application server do you need? If all you want is Forms and Reports services, there is a standalone version that does not install the 10g infrastructure database.

Does this sound like I need a new hard drive for iPod?

I have an 15GB 3rd generation iPod (4 buttons across top) and now i'm having some major issues. I have to restore constantly and even after a successful restore (which takes about 6-8 tries to keep the restore from freezing) it'll update songs on iTunes if I relaunch the Finder and only if I do that. The hard drive has a clicking noise whenever it's trying to connect to my computer. I'm assuming the clicking is a bad hard drive. Does that sound like it could be the case?

Thanks. I've tried partitioning and erasing the hard drive a couple times. Once in a while it succeeds in erasing the data and then I can attempt a restore but usually the iPod causes Disk Utility to freeze and I have to force quit or manually disconnect my iPod. After I successfully erased the data my restore attempts are usually unsuccessful anyway. The clicking still occurs and I usually have to try restoring about 3-6 times with various iPod Updaters before I get one that will restore completely. Even after that I can't re-connect my iPod to the computer without having to relaunch the finder.
I might have to look into an iPod Video or Nano

Why does my screen blank and need to be refreshed when I switch between multiple open tabs and is there a fix to this?

If I have one tab open at a site, and then open a new tab to a different website, when I click back on my other tab the screen is a blank gray color and I have to refresh it to get the site back. This happens almost every time I switch between my open tabs, no matter which tab I am going back to. I am not having this problem in any other browsers. This has only started happening in the last couple of months and it has gotten really annoying. Does anyone know how I can stop this?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Is there a setting such that the application closes (quits) when the (last) file is closed? Why does the application remain active when there are no files for it open?

I honestly did try to find my own answer, but cannot. Not sure why a simple question would have its answer so difficult to find. I'd just like the application to simply close after the last file is closed. It seems strange to have the application remain active. Thanks for your help.

System refresh for solution manager

Hi All,
Do you think its possible to do a system refresh for solution manager?
Even though we do, wont there be a lot of inconsistencies between satellite system and with new solution manager?
Ideally i need do system refresh of X solution manager to Y solution manager

How about the consistency between your two X and Y systems. Are they in single TMS. Requests properly transported from X to Y? If its positive, then go ahead you can make System Refresh..

System Refresh getting error "Your System has corresponding JAVA stack"

I am trying to do a system refresh on my HCM system which is ABAP only.
When I run SWPM --> Generic Installation Options -->MS SQL Server --> Database Tools --> Database copy completion, I get the following error.

Yes, I have done my research and failed also has a High OSS message open with SAP. This issue is very critical so any help as early as possible is highly appreciated.

It looks like you have a Java schema in your database, and sapinst is finding that and therefore assuming it's a double-stack system. Perhaps this system used to be double-stack at one time, and then was split? In the trace file I saw the following entries, at different points:

So, that seems to be the cause. If you're sure this is only supposed to be a single-stack ABAP system, you might try deleting the SAPHCPDB schema using database tools and then re-running sapinst.
While you're at it, it looks like you might have an old copy of Sun JRE 1.4.2 still installed (perhaps from the old days when that version was required to run sapinst). In the environment variables in the trace I saw:
JAVA_HOME=C:\j2sdk1.4.2_29-x64
You might want to uninstall that if you don't need it anymore, and unset that environment variable. Also, your swap size looks low for a 64-bit system with 8 GB RAM, even for a test system:

The latter. I cant tell you how many times I've reinstalled lion! all your apps will be fine!
Things that will change are system graphics if you altered them with something like candybar or did it manually.
Having said that, you should always backup your stuff with time machine incase something does happen.
This is a very important step which will insure the safety of your files while doing things like updating or installing the OS.
Please exercise caution when doing things with a Hard Drive.

You still don't give us the message you are receiving. My guess: you are trying to open a PDF in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

Aperture library overfilled my system partition,
So I moved it to another partition by Aperture preferences.
Aperture sees where it is,
but wants to set up a new library,
I suppose on my full system partition.
Any suggestions are appreciated,

No the Aperture Library does not need to be on the same partition with the System. It should, however, be on an internal or eSATA-connected drive.
Generally partitioning is a waste of spce. Please describe your exact setup of hard drives and partitions.
What most folks really should have is a Referenced-Masters Library, which deals with the issue of overfilling drives.

Does CC 2014 eliminate the need to have Final Cut Pro and/or Compressor installed to access Apple ProRes 422?

Hello:
Just today, I was working on a Mac system that does not have any of the applications that I would have expected to need to have installed in order to do more than just decompress movie files compressed with Apple ProRes 422.
I was expecting to have to install Final Cut Studio 3, Final Cut Pro X, Compressor 4, and/or QuickTime 7 with the QuickTime Pro key; however, none of those applications are installed and I am able to create custom QuickTime Apple Pro Res422 Sequences in Premiere Pro as well as export using Apple ProRes 422. After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder also show all the Apple ProRes variations.
Does CC 2014 eliminate the need to have Final Cut Pro and/or Compressor installed to access Apple ProRes 422? Is it something happening on the OS or QuickTime level that would affect CC or CS6 in the same way?
I've done a web search, but haven't really come up with anything other than older articles about needing to have FCP installed (and I typically work on systems with Final Cut Studio 3 installed as well as CS6, CC, or CC 2014). If more detailed information is available, it would be great to be able to read up on it.
The system is a 21.5-inch iMac running Mac OS X 10.8.5, QuickTime Player 10.2, and Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.0.0 - I know an update is available for PrPro, but it's not my system to make that change).

I use ProRes all the time as well, but I have Final Cut Studio on my workstations.
I had not come across MindPower009's YouTube video. That explains how ProRes could be showing up without FCP or Compressor.
So, the answer to my question would be, "No, CC 2014 does not eliminate the need to have Final Cut Pro and/or Compressor installed to access Apple ProRes 422; however, if you are willing to be in violation Apple's terms of use, you can install the ProRes codecs anyway."
Even though MindPower009's YouTube video comments claim "FREE and LEGAL", it's clear from both the Apple download page and the ProRes codecs installer that Apple expects you to own at least one of their applications.
