Does Analyzer has write-back capability?
Does Analyzer has write-back capability to the source such as Essbase/HFM?<BR>If yes, how to restrict the user from using this feature?<BR><BR>Thanks<BR>Arun
No one should be using the underscore user. Your users should not even know about the underscore user. In the later releases of Planning the underscore users have encrypted passwords so users cannot login using the underscore ID. The underscore user is an internal feature of Planning and if your users are logging in with the underscore ID (in an older version) then they are undermining the security and main purpose of the Planning application.<BR><BR>So to clarify on yor question further, Analyzer is not a source for data input in a Planning environmemnt. Users should only use Analyzer for reporting with Planning. For data input, they should be using web forms.<BR><BR>Regards,<BR>

Hi Geeks,
I want to ask a very basic question.
What is exactly meant by the term Write Back? When we say Essbase has write back capability what exactly it means? And why relational databases does not has write back capability?
Thanks,
SiddYou really should start a new thread on something like this, but, the answer to your question is no, smart View or the Add-in will not write back to a lrelational DB. (assuming you are not talking about co0mments or annotations in planning). It only writes to Essbase or HFM (and Planning since it uses Essbase). To do what you want, you would either need to write a custom interface or use a product like Dodeca. Dodeca has that built in to make it eas. Disclaimer, I don't work for Applied OLAP I just think the product is really good.

Write Back Capability in Essbase
Dear All,
I read some where BSO has a direct write-back capability which is not possible in ASO, correct me if i'm wrong. Now my doubt is What is write back capability.'Write-back' refers to the ability of end-users to send values directly to the cube from a combined read / write interface such as the Essbase Excel Add-In, Smart View, Dodeca, Planning etc. A user can look at a value retrieved from the cube, decide for whatever reason that he or she wishes to change it, enter a new value and 'write it back'.
This is in contrast to data loaded (usually as part of a batch process) from an external system.
ASO is one of the two data storage mechanisms available in Essbase - it stands for 'Aggregate Storage Option'. As John said, write back to ASO cubes is only possible at 'level zero', and this feature was not introduced until version 9.3.1. If you aren't clear what 'level zero' means, I suggest reading this section of the Database Administrator's Guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/frameset.htm?dinconc.html -
Hi,
Is anyone aware where FDM is having write back capability to transaction systems.
Example,is it possible to load data from Essbase/Planning/HFM to source systems such as Oracle GL or EBS using FDM?
ThanksThere is not any out of the box functionality for this. The only thing that I can think of is you could use the DataMart Adapter to export the data from FDM to a Flat File and that Flat File can be loaded into whatever system you wish. There is not a target system adapter for loading to EBS.
Not sure why you would want to do this as EBS is the source system and Planning/HFM are target systems for reporting on the source system data. -
I want to write a java program that can add a user to a role or sub role to the Profile Database in iPlanet Portal Server 3.0. Does anyone has any idea or a sample program do such thing? Thanks, Tommy
// create the user profile, get the handle back,
// and set the membership profile attributes.
ProfileAdmin newProfile = null;
try {
// the users profile name is the domain
// he belongs to plus their userName
// you will request.domain if your doing this from a servlet, domain_name is the domain_name the user belongs too
String profileName = domain_name + "/" + user;
if (debug.messageEnabled()) {
debug.message("creating profile for " + profileName);
// create the user profile object
newProfile = ProfileManager.createProfile(
getSession(), profileName ,Profile.USER);
UserProfile userProfile = (UserProfile)newProfile;
// set the role the user is a member of. Default is to set
// the users to the default role of the domain they surfed to
StringBuffer roleName = new StringBuffer(64);
// request.domain instead of domain_name if your doing this from a servlet ..
Profile dp = getDomainProfile(domain_name);
roleName.append(dp.getAttributeString("iwtAuth-defaultRole"));
if (debug.messageEnabled()) {
debug.message("setting role for " + user + " = " + roleName);
userProfile.setRole(roleName.toString());
newProfile.store(false);

return;
} catch (ProfileException pe) {

Write back facility through analyzer
I have a user requirement here.
Requirement: User wants to do various drill downs on the data base on various combination and wanted to do a write back on the database.
I suggested user Excel add in for doing a lock and send. But user is requesting a web based interface for doing a write back facility.
It is possible to do a write back using Hyperion analyzer. Or can you pls suggest me other available options.
Thanks in advance
MSHi CNEE,
Thanks a Ton for your inputs.
I tried the same and found those options in analyzer.
Few more questions.
1. Is this option avilabel in all version of essbase (write back through analyzer to essbase cube) . its a fact that this is possible only in block storage option
2. is it possible N user doing write back from various locations on the same data base on the same time . Excel add in do not allow as the db is lokced by another user. will analyzer allow this facility. ( here user A might be updating data value for member a->->b->C and user B updating data value for A->e->C) combinations.
3. what does the calculate option does here. wil lit doa default call all ?
Thanks in advance. -
My phone is stuck between off and on. It has a white, slash circle going around and around. The button on top doesn't seem to do any good. The phone is only 31 days old. Please write back, I can't use it to even call in an emergency. Thank you
I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot! -
i got a macbook pro 2008 and can not back up using time machine. it eject my external hard drive everytime. does anybody has a fix???
Does your external hard drive have it's own power supply? It should.
Is your external hard drive formatted with the NTFS file system? It won't work.
It needs to be formatted either with Mac OS Extended or FAT32.
(There are drivers available to add NTFS support to OS X but their quality is unknown, especially the "free" ones.) -
After installing the new software to my iPhone 4S , my dream zoo either will not start or when it does it has a blank screen that has a few icons on it that wont work. How can I fix this is it possible to go back and reinstall the older software ?
Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

My Time Capsule has quit backing up - now spends all it's time "preparing". I've tried the Apple suggestion of a reset which does not help. All indicators seems to be OK. Running OS 10.5.8 on G4 Powerbook, Time capule is 1st gen I believe. Any ideas?
Hello,
Thanks for your message, I have attempted to repait the permissions as tou suggested. The first time this produced a long list of exceptions and took quite a while, however although it said "Permissions repair Complete" when I ran it again there were still about 20 exceptions, I have repeated the procedure and this is unchanged. The Time Capsule now does not spend hours "Preparing", but the backup attempt fails after a few minutes with the error message "The backup volume could not be mounted." Any further ideas would be appreciated. When I use Disk Utility I can't see the Time Capsule volume, if I could I'd be tempted to re-format it and start from scratch. -
My iphone 4 has face time capability but does not have the face time app in settings to turn it on. I have done a restore and it didn't do anything. Can anyone help?
There is no FaceTime app. To initiate FaceTime go the contact page of the person you want to FaceTime in your Contacts app and select FaceTime at the bottom of the screen.

Does it has "share a hard drive" capability?
Does it has "share a hard drive" capability?
The TC is a shared hard drive.. with no form of backup.. Fundamentally it is a backup device.. not a NAS.. but you can store stuff on it if you take the risk and can appreciate it is slow.. has absolutely no media ability and is difficult to use in any way other than intended.

FDMEE - Write back - No Data and No Errors
I am trying to Write Back from Planning 11.1.2.3.500 to EBS R12 using FDMEE 11.1.2.3.530. There is data in Planning, and when I execute an Import it processes successfully, but the Transform Data Process step has a warning symbol and there is no data in the grid in the Write Back Workbnch.

I have created the following write-back mappings:
UD1,*,*,Z_Catch All Entity
UD1,CO_*,*,"Remove prefix ""Co_"""
UD2,*,*,Z_Catch All Account
UD2,ACC_*,*,Remove ACC_
UD3,*,*,Local Account Pass Through
UD4,*,*,Z_Catch All MC
UD4,CC_*,*,"Remove prefix ""CC_"""
UD5,*,*,Z_Catch All Event Edition
UD5,SY*,*,"Remove prefix ""SY"""
UD6,*,*,Activity pass through
UD7,*,*,Z_Catch All Product
UD7,PRD_*_I,*,Remove prefix PRD
UD8,*,*,ICP pass through
UD9,*,*,Spare pass through
Which is basically to strip off some prefixes, or just pass through the values.
In the Import Format I have the following Write Back Mapping:
Source Dimension Source Segment
Account Account
Activity Activity
Entity Entity
SessionYear Event Edition
Intercompany
Local Account
ManagementCentre Management Centre
Product Product
Spare
For my Write Back Rule I select the Location: RXFin_EBS_PL, the Primary Ledger in EBS
Period: Dec-14
Category: Budget - The name of the scenario in Planning.
Source: RX_EBS
Target: RXFIN
Plan Type: Finance
I have Source Filters to limit the amount of data it tries to pull in.
Account: @Relative("Profit & Loss",0)
Entity: "CO_0052"
Activit:y @Relative("AllActivities",0)
Period: @Relative("YearTotalPlan",0)
Version: "FinalVersion"
Year: "FY14"
And for Budget: RX RF1 2014
Budget Organization: RX Budget Org - Though I am not sure what this does.
I execute Import from Source, and it process for several minutes, and then nothing is in the Workbench.
There is data in Planning as far as I can see, and with no errors I am at a loss on what to investigate.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks,Do you have any luck if you simplify the source filter to try and be as specific as possible and only bring in as few rows as possible from a known good intersection as a sanity check?

OBIEE 11g write back to Essbase and run calc script feature
Hi,
I have a requirement to write back into Essbase Cube and run calc script from OBIEE dashboard.
From what i have search on google, we must deploy additional Java Script into weblogic, but that is before OBIEE 11.1.1.6.
I have 2 question:
- Does OBIEE 11.1.1.6 already supported native write-back to Essbase and running calcscript?
- Anyone has example of the custom java-script for write back and running calcscript?
And another, if there are requirement like this, is it better to install Essbase Add-in on Microsoft Excel and do the what-if analysis there, then just display the report on OBIEE dashboard? (based on user-friendliness and the complexity on maintenance)
Thanks in advance.Hi,
Even I am trying to achieve the same thing as you have mentioned but think that it is not possible to achieve easily in obiee 11.1.1.6, though we do have a work around to perform a writeback in Essbase cube using JAPI as mentioned below.
Also we can call Hyperion reports from OBIEE using Action Links and also pass parameters to the same but dont know if it runs calculation script.
Below link could be useful for you for write back workaround.
http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2009/05/25/oracle-bi-ee-10-1-3-4-1-writebacks-to-essbase-using-japi-and-custom-html-part-1/
Let me know in case you have found out anything else related to same.
Thanks, -
Hi,
I am trying to configure write back in one of my reports. I have already created a Write back template which looks as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<WebMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web/message/v1">
<WebMessageTable lang="en-us" system="WriteBack" table="Messages">
<WebMessage name="WriteBack">
<XML>
<writeBack connectionPool="Connection Pool_DM">
<insert>INSERT INTO Debt_Fact VALUES('@{c9}')</insert>
<update>UPDATE Debt_Fact SET Remarks =('@{c9}')</update>
<postupdate>COMMIT</postupdate>
</writeBack>
</XML>
</WebMessage>
</WebMessageTable>
</WebMessageTables>
When i try to enter values in the write back field it give me the following error:
An error occurred while writing to the server. Please check to make sure you have entered appropriate values. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).

Any Help is appreciated.... Thanks
Edited by: Siddharth Chitre on May 8, 2010 7:57 PMHi Siddharth,
I came across the same while implementing the write back.
Make sure following points are checked.
1.Table whoch you are updating should disable cache
2.In Answers,user must have acess writeback previleges.For this access,you need to go manage previleges and give access.
3.Template name in Answers should match with the values in XML...i.e<WebMessage name="WriteBack">
For the error,the solution is
To ignore/fix this error, with ifnull(tablename.Remarks,'n/a') in the Fx section. Try it
