Does any actually use Pert view?

The Pert view seems to very hard to organize activities especially when you're working with a couple hundred of them. Does anyone actually use the Pert view, and why do you use it instead of the bar chart? Is Pert better for small projects that don't have many activities?

Under most circumstances we do not use a "pert" formatted chart. They are cumbersome with larger projects but every once in a while a stakeholder has a preference for that particular "look". It all depends on the way the project manager or lead is used to working with his or her schedules.
I find them useful in the planning stages of putting a schedule together.

OK, thanks to Peter Hanusiak, and Oracle Consulting consultant in Slovakia, I have resolved my issue and I'm hoping that the same solution may apply for you. See below for the instructions from Peter that helped me out. Note that since our applications are different, the specific libraries and locations that you need to confirm compatibility for may be different.

I had similar problem. And in my case it was caused by different ADF from JDev and SOA Suite and SOA order booking demo.
Because I can't test it now, I'll tell just what I remember.
In SOADEMO is somewhere folder SOADEMO-CLIENT\UserInterface\public_html\WEB-INF\lib
where you can find
adf-faces-impl.jar
jsf-impl.jar
Try to find exactly the same libs in Jdev and copy&paste from Jdev to SOADEMO folder. then find the libs in SOASuite, and copy&paste from Jdev to SOA Suite those libs. Restart SOA Suite. Deploy Soademo-Client. And hopefully it will work.

Does anyone actually use automatic panning?

I've tried the automatic panning feature, and I don't understand how it could ever be useful. For example, using Captivate 5.5 for Mac, I'd like to set a recording area smaller than the application window and have the recording area move with the mouse, but I'd like the recording area to stay withing the application window borders. The results are jerky, unpredictable pans and the recording area invariably roams beyond the application window borders, showing undesired screen elements (other apps, Mac menu bar, etc.,) despite my specifying "Application" for my recording settings. I've had to resort to manual panning--which is very difficult to use smoothly; I had to create a "single axis movement" key command on my trackball mouse to help control horizontal/vertical movement, but even that isn't 100% reliable to ensure smoothness.
Am I missing something, or is it simply not possible to control automatic panning in the manner that I'd like? (I've read that Camtasia does this flawlessly, but I've never used it. And I am not certain whether it could be used for eLearning, not to mention it's video based, thus large files.)
I'm having a hard time understanding how this feature could be useful, unless you don't mind very jerky pans and your application is full screen and running on Windows (no OS menu bar to distract the user, although I suppose the bottom task bar could get in the way but at least that could be hidden).

Until Captivate 6, I've long advised folks that if "panning is your thing", skip Captivate and go look at Camtasia.
That being said, it's worth noting that while Camtasia and Captivate both capture what goes on with your screen, they take two different approaches.
With Camtasia, you pretty much record the full screen at the start, then later determine the size you want to produce at. Since you are already full screen and you later determine where the pan goes, it's much better and silky smooth in operation.
As you have seen, with Captivate you get, ummm, how do I say this nicely? Ummm, "less than desirable" pans. So if you are on Captivate 5.5 or earlier, fuhgeddaboudit when it comes to panning.
But I'm aware that Adobe has put lots of effort into Captivate's full motion recording engine. Whether it will now rival Camtasia's remains to be seen. But it's greatly improved in version 6 of Captivate. You did mention Mac. I'm not a Machead and tend to avoid them for value considerations, so I'm ill equipped to say whether Adobe updated the Mac version along with the Windows version for 6. I know TechSmith has different release cycles as well as different feature sets for Mac VS Windows on Camtasia. Perhaps Adobe is better in this respect.
So you might try version 6. Download it, kick the tires and see if upgrading is worth it for you.

It seemed worse than a virus for me when I tryed kde4, something kept running in the background eating all my cpu powers and harddrive speeds, I had to google to turn the thing off.
Then I let it run for a while. Still havent found any good use of it.

Just a quick summary of what Akonadi is, for those who don't know: Akonadi is an abstraction layer/proxy and a cache for PIM data.
PIM data can by anything like mails, contacts or calendar entries, and they can come from different sources, like an IMAP server, a
local vCard file or an Exchange server. Akonadi provides an easy API for the client application developer to access that PIM data
in a transparent way.
Nepomuk aims to provide the basis to handle all kinds of metadata on the KDE desktop in a generic fashion. This ranges from simple information such as tags or ratings over metadata extracted from files to metadata that is generated by applications automatically. RDF, the Resource Description Framework, provides the powerful basis to store and query all this data. The goal is to categorize all metadata using clean ontologies to make an automated handling and enrichment of the data possible.
Then theres strigi which can also use various backends for filesearching/ indexing.
And yes i use all of the above in kde 4.4 which has virtuoso backend for strigi making it alot faster.
All of the above are a bit work in progress still tho.

Quicktime ..... does anyone actually use it ?

Well, I have to use it because a client has requested a copy of a 60 minute short film as a quicktime movie.
Now let me begin by saying that I have this as both a divx and a wmv file at full resolution (720x405) and for the most part it looks virtually uncompressed. It looks great, almost identical to the vob off of a dvd i created. SO, near dvd quality.
Here's my findings trying to make a quicktime i can upload to an ftp server, rendering out of after effects 7.0 and with quicktime pro installed (the latest version)
Sorenson movie at a huge 40mb looks so riducously compressed its laughable .... it almost looks like the movie was 1/10th of the proper resolution and then scaled up to make one big huge blocky mess. Some shots you can't even make out whats in the frame and what the picture is, let alone any detail.
90MB cinepak compressed mov is also unbelievably blocky, unacceptably so. Also, if theres a moving camera or stuff moving in frame sometimes bits of it don't move as if the compression algorithms are trying to prevent portions of the frame moving. Settings are medium quality (obviously high quality and you'd be looking at something like a 500mb file !!!! thats 5 times bigger than the dvd vob i created !)
A full resolution mp4 file came out at 60mb and its still not as good looking as the divx and wmv encoded files.
An H.264 first of all removes all the contrast from the movie so it looks all milky... and then its 59mb. But here's the real clanger, thats at half resolution, a measly 360x200. Pathetic. What is H.264 ??? Technology from the dark ages ?
A half size mpeg 4 file with data rate limited to 500K comes out at the same filesize as the full resolution one !!!! i.e. 60mb .. and its still not a patch quality wise on the 25mb windows counterparts.
I will continue testing but please in the meantime, if there is some secret to thsi quicktime nonsense then do let me know.

How large in file size are your divx or WMP files?
Don't use Sorenson 3 included with QT Pro (they sell a "Pro" version that includes more options).
The Cinepak codec is nearly 15 years old. It's only included to maintain some backward compatibility.
If you use H.264 you can achieve great looking results. But since you're trying to compress an hour (of video and audio, 13GB in DV format and probably close to 1GB in your divx file) into a file size you can upload via FTP you're compressing too much.
Convert the file using H.264 at its current size to an .mp4 or .mov file and burn it to CD (if it will fit) or DVD and mail it to your client. I send DVD's in mail (costs about $.84 in postage) all the time.

This piece of s&#% software never works, it can't burn playable blu-ray discs. Most recently it decided not to work after you do an edit in Premiere - even after a re-import. These programmers should be flogged in a pubic square!

As far as the cache is concerned, yes each JVM would have its own cache. It should however be noted that the behavior of the cache would depend largely on its implementation. A normal implementation would allow the user to use a simple, locked or distributed mode. In case it is in the locked mode, if one thread is updating the cache no other thread would be allowed to write in the mean time and after each write the cache on the rest of the JVM's would be invalidated. In the distributed mode, JMS is employed in most of the cases to update the cache in the rest of the nodes as well.

Does any one use the SPIGEN iphone case? if so, can you tell me the difference between the ultra fit, ultra fit a, ultra fit s, and ultra hybrid? also does this case get in the way of the camera flash? i ask because the camera opening seems so small.

Does ANY player BESIDES iTunes stream from my iPad 2!?!?

I have an iPad 2 iOS 4.3.3 and apple tv 2 with latest update.I have tried buzz player,servio,vlc streamer but all I get is audio on my apple tv. I am extremely frustrated as I bought the apple tv for this purpose and feel I just paid for a useless audio player , as I don't want to listen to music on my tv.
Does anyone have any actual,useful experience with this that can sort me out?
What am I missing here? Before I bought it I read up on it and did not think I would experience this problem.

No that's not what i'm saying at all. A lot of 3rd party apps DO work, every single one i've tried has. iTunes may sell them, but they don't make them (hence 3rd party) and have no control over whether the developer enables video airplay. No you shouldn't need to know what API's are, but i'm merely pointing out that Apple released the function to developers and that it's then in their court.
It's not the product that's faulty in this case.
You would need to ask a developer why they make false claims. I have never seen one, but sometimes it may slip by.
Upgrading is a good general practice, and no it isn't of 'limited functionality'. You can mirror almost anything to the ATV. I've only seen a few that have blocked it, and it's for licensing reasons which is out of Apple's control.
Just because you don't like an answer doesn't mean it's unhelpful. Enough said.

Stop dreamweaver using split view

I love the fact that dreamweaver CS4 shows included files such as a style sheet when I open the main HTML file, anyone know how to stop dreamweaver using split view when I click on one of these included files? I never use / like split view.

I never noticed that it was only splitting the screen when I was in design view.
I do actually use code view more than anything, I write PHP in dreamweaver and that is why I was getting annoyed, sometimes I can have several files included in a single PHP page, and flicking through them was getting annoying if the screen auto split .
I actually discovered vertical split view and I like it a lot! Works really well on my dual monitor setup;code view on the left monitor, design view on the right.
Still think there should be an option to disable auto split.

I am getting a "Prop Res DLL not loaded" message when trying to print from a website only while using Firefox, same does not occur using IE. Any suggestions

An attempt to change the "Properties" options prior to printing on my Lexmark X5150 causes the message. Same does not occur if I do the same under Internet Explorer.

I have tried creating the profile again and still get the same problem. The problem is machine based and not user based.

If you recreated the Outlook profile and still got the same problem, please try to recreate the Windows Profile:
Log on to client using local admin account->rename the profile folder under c:\users.

Is there any way I can view / remove pictures from Camera Roll on the iPhone, on a Mac, without actually importing the files? I just want to view / delete files without importing them.
For instance I have 1200 photos on my iPhone Camera Roll. Some of these are shots, that I've taken multiple times, some good, some bad. I just want to clean up my Camera Roll, but going through the pictures on the iPhone's small screen is tedious. I'd much rather look at the camera roll's photo's on my Mac, and then decide which files I'd like to keep, and which to delete.
I don't want to import the files, as when I import the files, and delete them from Camera Roll, now the Photo's are not on my phone, and the only way to get them back on my Phone is to Import them back in using iTunes, and then they go into the Picture Library and not the Camera Roll.
In the same way as I can view Pics from my digital camera's SD card on a Mac without having to actually copy them to my computer, is there any app out there that will let me view my iPhone pics without importing them.

The short answer is yes.
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
Open Image Capture application.
Click on the 4 little squares at bottom to view them as photos, not a list.
Select the photos them click the No Entry icon at bottom to delete.
