Yes, many! I have a Yamaha PSR-K1 that I have hooked up to my iMac, and speakers, and it will play thru either, including Garage Band of course. Some Yamahas can also play thru their own speakers. eg no hookup to anything else required, but you would best go to a Yamaha site, and post the question under CUSTOMER SERVICE to find the model. . I would think a good Yamaha dealer would also know the models??

Just a note on PC keyboard function keys. The windows function keys work but you will get frustrated by the location of the command key. The 'undo' and 'cut' and 'copy' and 'paste are z x c and v but the command key on a PC keyboard is where the 'control' key is on a mac. You will be giving the wrong command if you use the mac key location and the PC location is a stretch for your thumb to reach. There is no harm done by plugging in another brand of USB device.

Well, I went ahead and bought the Belkin flip - worked out-of-the-box!
The first thing I got working was the DVI display hookups, one for my PC
the other for my Mac.
Then I got the USB working for mouse+keyboard and then finally sound.
When I switch from the Mac back to my PC, it sometimes takes XP a few
seconds to recognize the mouse+keyboard, but it hasn't been longer
than say a minute.

Garagekey USB keyboard works with MacBook Pro, but not with 27" iMac

Just got a brandnew 27" iMac. The Garagekey USB keyboard doesn't work. It's recognized in systemProfiler, Audio-Midi Setup, GarageBand and Logic. But no Midi is coming in. When I plug it into my MacBook Pro, it works immediately. I know the Garagekey doesn't work with some 3rd party USB hubs, maybe for lack of enough power, but it works always at the internal USB hubs with the MacBook Pro. Why doesn't it with the 27" iMac? I'm cueless...
The IMac Systemprofiler says: Current Available (mA) 500, Current Required (mA) 300. So I guess, it can't be a power problem?

Have the same problem with Logic Pro. Works on my old Mac Mini but not on the new iMac 27" i5. Apple told me that it is a difference between the boards they used on the two computers. They said that even if I got a new mac mini I would run into the same problem. they recommended that I upgrade my mini, or try another piece of hardware to connect the two. Looking for hardware now. Do the new slim USB keyboards work with OSX 10.4.7?

I really want to get one of those new slim apple USB keyboards for my iMac, but it says on its product description page that the system requirements are OSX 10.4.10. I have 10.4.7 running on my iMac, don't want to update it coz my everything is working perfectly and my theory is if it ain't broke, why fix it? So was wondering if I did get the keyboard anyway, would it work with 10.4.7?
I do hear horror stories of people updating their software and having nightmarish problems thereafter, thats why am very cautious about updating my software, as currently I am in a real sweet spot of stability, and don't want to upset that.

Well I got the slim keyboard (love it), and did the updates till 10.4.10 as required. It all went ok, but got blue screen of death after the quicktime update, and had to do a hard reset (my first ever on my iMac), and is all ok now - so far...
But! The best bit was - the Gfx card performance is up 20% :))
(I do graphics work, ran a couple of tests after the updates. Neat!)
The updates probably had a Gfx card driver update...
I guess its win win all round, just hope i don't have any stability issues now - fingers crossed!

Does any USB card will worrk in a beige?

I have a beige, which I think is a rev A ROM, and I wan't to connect my HP Scanjet 6350C scanner to it. I have 2 choices:
- I can buy a SCSI cable DB25 to HD50 and use the scanner in SCSI mode. This configuration is only supported in OS 9.
_ can add a USB card and use the scanner in OS X.
Since the beige is mostly booted in OS X, the second solution will prevent me from rebooting to OS 9 each time I want to scan.
But, can I buy any USB card from a PC shop and put it in the beige hoping it will work or I need a specific model or type to work in the mac?
I may not need USB 2.0 since the scanner is USB 1.1 only.
What are your suggestions?

Hello Steve,
In general, you can install almost any USB card into almost any Beige G3, but that is not exactly the same thing.
In general, the easiest way to install a USB card is to perform a clean install/re-install of the Operating System with the USB card in place. The Mac installer does not install the appropriate drivers/support unless it "sees" the need, which means it has to get a response from the USB port when it goes looking. You can work around this by doing a custom install or by using Tome Viewer.
Some people have reported trouble with the Rev A ROM chip; fix is to go with a Rev B ($77D,45F1) or Rev C (&77D.45F2) - a good idea anyhow.
Some people have reported trouble with certain cards - often some (but not all) Belkins, and with some chips - often (but not always) the OPTI.
Sometimes these items will not install, but will work after another card has been installed.
For myself, I have found that doing a clean install/reinstall (of OS9) using an Orange Micro (now out of business) or MacAlly USB/firewire card has yielded 100% success, and has let me use any of the "generic" - or otherwise - cards I have run across.
Since I haven't (yet) installed OSX on a beige G3, I can't comment on how that will work in your situation.

Oxygen 8 Keyboard, works with Garageband, not with Logic Pro 7 Express...

I have installed the proper and most current drivers...followed manufactures setups (recommended daily intake of Aspirin) and yet...nothing, nadda, no cigar...zip. Works great with Garageband though. I was able to setup Firewire Solo and got that to receive System Sounds through the headphones of the M-Audio device, but nothing from the MIDI aspect of it though. Yet....Garageband still worked. Hmmmm....curious.
I made it an Aggregate Device in the Audio setup after I disconnected the Firewire to see if that helped. Nope. Yet.....it worked in Garageband.
I've searched under every stone...said a few bad words...and yelled at the cat...wasn't my cat.
Any help is greatly appreciated...if this was already posted...sorry.

[SOLVED] Any USB not working.

I have a very annoying problem. On my arch didn't work any USB device or SDcard reader or WebCam.
(i try live distribution and on that it works so it isnt a HW problem)
Example: i add my optical USB mouse, but nothing happend even the light on the bottom of the mouse didn't work same think with my phone or pendrives with LED indication, It's looks like in the USB drive isn't voltage. (i can't find anything usable in logs) But if i add USB device before system start it works (not always).
I try to edit UDEV rules and dbus rules and all other rules what could be helpfull :) but nothing works (for now i could have a nice mess in rules).
//It must be magic but after i wrote this massage it's start working :D I really try to solve this problem for last month. (So keep this topic becouse theres could be some mistical relation between this topis and my notebok)
For now major problem with USB is gone and new problem with the rules appears :(

Does Korg's Microkontrol controller keyboard work with Garageband?

I am deciding whether to buy Korg's controller keyboard, the MicroKontrol. I wanted to know whether it will work when using Garageband. If it can, are there any disadvantages with using the keyboard with Garageband.
